surprisingly adequate
Pros: - Bass response w/o subwoofer surprisingly strong, no audible distortion with equalizer tweaked - Compact size and weight stable on flat surface, not as easy to knock down by fuzzy animals (or non-fuzzy) - Travel across room makes source audio location indeterminate, surround sound is more than adequate for PC speakers. - Crisp, clear. - Extreme bargain for the quality that I expected. Conclusion: Surprisingly adequate.
Cons: - White color makes product obvious. - Simple style can either make it a pro or a con, but they *look* cheap, though they don't feel that way. - Knob inertia extremely low (somewhat difficult to turn) - Analog plug (pro or con depending) but it is very thick, so if you are attaching to skinny female plugin (such as on an eeePC) you better make sure the copper is all the way in. (No euphemisms intended). - Packaging extremely simple, documentation minimal, no specs to keep. Conclusion: Cons minimal, I would give 4(1/2) if I could.
Other Thoughts: I haven't owned an extremely expensive sound system before, so perhaps I'm just used to carpy (FISH!) sound. However, I'm a pretty picky lady and I do own a high quality Sony sound system with a subwoofer, albeit vintage. - 1 yr warranty (at this price, if it breaks after being used lovingly, just get a new one) Conclusion: MARBLECAKE ALSO THE GAME

Cheap Junk
Pros: New Egg gave me an RMA.
Cons: They are lite in weight and volume knob is tapered. The tapered knob make it very hard to get a grip in it. Being lite in weight the harder you queeze the knob just makes it slide away from you. It takes two hands to adjust the knob. Also they are not very well shielded.
Other Thoughts: Find Speakers with straight knobs.

1 out of 3 was DOA
Pros: The 2 that work sound really good...
Cons: The power supply was bad on 1 out of 3 sets I purchased. Contacted JBL directly in hopes that they would just send a new wall plug, but they said the only option was returning the whole package to Newegg.
Other Thoughts: Shouldn't they check those things at the factory?

Not bad
Pros: Clear sound, there is an inner detail in the sound that can be appreciated.
Cons: I tried these on my mac mini, which they were purchase for, but I also tried them with my gaming machine with an X-Fi titanium card. Yes these do have a fairly detailed sound, But, they also sound "nasally" do to the fact that they are plastic and obviously have no sound deadening material inside the speaker. I tried to EQ the "nasal" sound out of the speaker only to realize that it was the enclosure that was causing it, not the actual speaker. I torn between returning them and taking them apart and adding sound absorbing material in them. However, since they are plastic, I'm not sure how much that will help.
Other Thoughts: I'm an audiophile so I am nit picking a bit. For most people who are looking for something to hear noises their computer makes, and are not as picky as I am about sound. They will suffice for most folks. I let them play for several hours before reviewing them, so they could "break in" a little. I'm just not sure I can get past the "nasal" sound. When listening to something like John Lennon's "imagine" the piano sounded as if it were being played on one of those cheap keyboards you would pick up and any local superstore for twenty bucks. Veiled and shallow. For 39 bucks, they aren't that bad, but it still sounds like a plastic speaker in the end, so even with the 5 star rating on these, don't expect anything "amazing" and you wont be disappointed. I think to get better, you would have to spend twice as much.

Fantastic!
Pros: Some of these reviews complain about a lack of volume. Right - no DJ would ever use these for a dance all. My home office is a room that is 14' by 21'. These speakers fill that just fine. Of course I usually play classical music, not heavy metal, but there are times when I play older rock or listen to great singers. These are wonderful for that purpose. Sure, they don't win a comparison test wit my $6000 living room speakers that are bi-amped with 4 gauge speaker cable, but wouldn't I feel foolish if they did. If you want to deafen yourself don't buy these, otherwise get right out there and buy these. Newegg delivered them in their usual quick and flawless manner. As always, kudos to Newegg.
Cons: I can't them outside when I'm mowing my lawn rofl.
Other Thoughts: Now I know what to do for a Christmas present for my brother. His netbook speakers should be condemned.

all in all they're good speakers
Pros: The sound is great for the most part. They look great, and they're plenty loud enough for me.
Cons: The power knob is a little stiff to turn on and off. There is no headphone slot. Also the bass can kinda buzz. Only sometimes though, like during a deep rumble you might hear in an epic movie. It probably buzzes less if you turn down the volume but i like to watch movies pretty loud, so that's not gonna happen.

Not too shabby
Pros: Very good sound quality.
Cons: Not very loud. A little pricey.
Other Thoughts: I bought these for an office environment. The sound quality is excellent but the speakers are not very loud (only 12W). I'd recommend them for an office environment where music is not meant to be played loudly. Few 2 speakers setups are made this well anymore.

Solid buy
Pros: These speakers sound great, look snazy, and have a solid built bottom that makes them sturdy. These speakers also don't generate annoying feedback or static, even while you're adjusting the volume, and there is enough bass to shake your booty to. Great product for the money and super fast shipping from the egg. Cheers!
Cons: They only come in one color?
Other Thoughts: I was replacing my old Cambridge square speakers for the PC with these.

GREAT speakers!
Pros: Yeah! These are not intended to come anywhere near the sound of something like the Logitech Z-5500 (which I have on my home computer), but I got this set for my work, and I am EXTREMELY impressed and pleased.
My boss even stopped and commented on how great the sound was from just two speakers.
Cons: WHAT!?
Other Thoughts: If all you want or need is a two-speaker set up, these are the best. PERIOD!

Price is right
Pros: Cheap. Sound Great for how cheap they are. Sound good at low levels.
Cons: not the speakers for you if you want them to play loudly during games or want to jam out to music.
Other Thoughts: I wanted some inexpensive speakers that would sound good. They do the job well. Wish they came in black.

ok speakers
Pros: These speakers sound ok for what they are. If your wanting outstanding sound don't get these, these speakers are for the people who are looking for general sound and not audiophile quality music for gamer quality gaming sound
Cons: my only gripe is the volume knob is kinda stiff which is ok except for the pretty much smooth knob. Half the time my fingers slip when trying to turn the volume up

stiff knobs

Worth the purchase
Pros: Very good sound for speakers of this size and price
Cons: Difficult to turn on/off due to the light weight of the speakers.
Other Thoughts: Great for bedroom PC speakers. Volume knob could be easier to adjust volume and turn on/off. You will most likely flip the speaker over if you try to turn it off with one hand.

Best for the price
Pros: Can't beat the sound quality for the price. Good looking, easily portible (Used with my ipod sometimes). Had them for 3 years they get easily 3 to 6 hours of use daily, no problems.
Cons: The knob really does suck, bot not bad enough to deture buyers.

Economical
Pros: Sounds great for the price. Maybe a little too much bass, or it is not 'defined'... I dont know, not an audio expert, but these don't sound weak like the other computer speakers I've had. Longish chord between the speakers.
Cons: The volume knob is curved and smooth, so it is kind of hard to grasp. It turns ok though, so long as your fingers aren't too greasy...

Not bad at all
Pros: These small speakers sound pretty good! They are rather small and don't take up much desk space which is nice. Some people don't like the color (white) but that doesn't really bother me, even tho I usuallyprefer dark colors.
Cons: As stated before, the volume knob is rather stiff and that's kind of a pain but you can adjust the volume with putting the 'volume' icon in your tray and adjust it that way, if need be. Other than a stiff volume knob, these little guys sound good, look good and are worth the price.
Other Thoughts: As far as the overly bright LCD lights, if it really bothers you, just put a sticker or a piece of tape over them. I've done that with other components I own but the lights on these speakers aren't really a problem for me.
In closing, I'm glad I bought these speakers. They sound good for their size and the price is decent!

JBL - WOW
Pros: Quality feel product Stylish and sophisticated looking Superb sound for this price range In fact, I don't think there are better speakers for this price... period
Cons: No headphone jack on them.
Other Thoughts: Have used these on most of my PC builds and very few people ever requested better ones. Got quite a few compliments from average users.

Awesome little guys
Pros: An astounding amount of bass from a 2.0 system that otherwise has crisp, clear sound all around.
Cons: The lack of a headphone port is a little annoying, but that means nothing compared to the sound.
Other Thoughts: I'd recommend just plugging headphones into the tower if you really need it.

Big sound for small speaker
Pros: These speakers sound great for their size. If you crank them up all the way the sound will distort. After all they are small. They are aesthetically pleasing to look at. They are nice to own. People see them and they want to know about them. Where did you get them? Newegg I say.
Cons: No cons.
Other Thoughts: Your sense of interior design will be elevated by these objects de arte.

Good...depends on what you are looking for
Pros: These are very good speakers. But it depends on how you're using them. If you're going to play them at relatively loud volume, then they are better. At very low volumes (like for me, I keep them low while studying), you hear more thump from the bass than you would prefer; the thumping gets kind of annoying. I guess that's a testament to the bass power of these. So, I guess if you are looking for something to play low volume music, these are not the best option.
Cons: Too much bass at low volumes; if you play a lot of music at very low volumes, you might want to look elsewhere (unless you prefer powerful bass even at low volumes).

Doesn't work in my 700p/755p
Pros: Works in the Centro. Inexpensive.
Cons: Doesn't work in my Treo 700p/755p, both of which are said to support SDHC with the latest firmware. Called Kingston and they said these models aren't SDHC compatible, even though Palm claims they are.
No mention of supported/unsupported device models on their website.
Other Thoughts: The miniSD adapter does work with the 1GB microSD card I have, so at least I have a memory card for my Treo now.
The card is initially detected and recognized in both the 700p and 755p, but disconnects about 15 seconds-2 minutes after being inserted. In some cases, I've been able to write significant amounts of data to the card before it disconnects.
700p SDHC support information is available when you search for the Sprint Treo 700p 1.10 update.

Excellent basic speakers
Pros: Small desk footprint, provide excellent sound quality for my laptop. I listen primarily to rock and webcasts, and find the speakers provide excellent range including decent enough bass without a subwoofer. Probably not audiophile speakers, but they work wonderfully for what I needed.
Cons: No headphone jack on speaker, volume knob hard to turn on my speakers. Power / speaker volume is on one knob.
Other Thoughts: Vast improvement over the standard speakers that most PC's come with. Available in several colors (white, almond, and black) so you can tie into your office decor.

Great sound quality for the price
Pros: Very high quality sound. As other reviewers have mentioned these speakers are good for jazz, classical, vocals etc but don't expect the booming thump of a 3 speaker system...
Cons: As others have warned, the on/off/vol knob is a nuissance..darn thing is so slippery you do need to hold the speaker to turn the knob..just a minor gripe IMHO
Other Thoughts: Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of these speakers...I've never own a JBL system b4 but judging from the quality of these speakers I would definitely be a return customer

Very nice speakers
Pros: Crisp, clear, and the full range is well represented. The best 2.0 setup I've had so far, and they've been working fine for about a year now. Looks sharp with the glossy white finish and goes well with my theme.
Cons: The dial is a tad difficult to turn, but my main gripe is that these speakers pick up signals from cell phones. Horribly loud crackling buzzing sounds every time a cell phone in the proximity gets a call, but when the call is answered it fades out. I have about a 1-second advance warning of calls now (yay?). No headphone jack.
Other Thoughts: Overall these have good quality and I'd recommend them to anyone who doesn't get a lot of cell phone calls while using their computer. They'll last a long time and can take quite a beating.

Good speakers overall
Pros: A very good sound for not having a woofer. They are sleak and look good.
Cons: Some crackling when computer's volume is set high. I just set it to about the middle, and it seemed to fix the issue. Also, volume knob on speaker is tight and hard to adjust, though, I'm not sure if these speakers were just defunct by chance.
Other Thoughts: Nonetheless, good speakers overall.

Lovely speaker
Pros: Love the fact that it is white and has a very sleek look to it. Great sound and super easy to use. Just plug, and play.
Cons: No headphone jack, but it's really not that important. Also, the knob is slightly stiff and not super easy to turn.
Other Thoughts: It's still a great product overall and would recommend it to anyone. I love it!

Awesome Sound
Pros: Simple put, the best sound $40 will buy you. Snazzy looking design Stylish, fit any decor (I prefer the MAC white colored ones.) Stand own their own, unlike the stupidly designed Spin series by Lebteck.
Cons: I've boughten 15 pairs of these over the last four years and on some pairs the volume switch crackles when you adjust the volume. Must be a defect on some sets.

OK Speakers
Pros: look nice, sound decent, long cables
Cons: crackling when adjusting the volume, price
Other Thoughts: I thought for the price that I would be getting some solid speakers. These turned out to be pretty average, I should have just paid half as much for a different set.

Other Thoughts: Bought yesterday, Newegg with standard 3 day shipping had them on my doorstep the next day!

Pros: good sound for such small speakers, and they look nice.
Cons: dont let the previous reviews get your hopes up for plenty of bass; these may be better than other speakers their size, but they do not put out much bass.
Other Thoughts: i would have liked black as a color; not a biggie.

JBL truely is top notch!
Pros: For their size, these suckers sound fantastic. The lows are surprising - folks will be looking under your desk for the subwoofer. Very crisp. Spreads the sound wide across my desk. Good reproduction range. Stylish, small footprint, and cute green indicator lights.
Cons: My biggest beef, which applies to almost all speakers, is the non-disconnectable audio cables. If they fray, you're out of luck. The power/volume knob is a little slippery, there's no headphone jack, it uses a pretty huge wall wart.
Other Thoughts: If you need audio for a small office, or something portable for small presentations, these are your ticket. SPEND THE EXTRA BUCKS to get these instead of the cheap-o's.

Simply Great
Pros: Good portability. Best sound quality 2.0 speakers I have.
Cons: Would have perferred an inline power supply over the power strip choking 'wall wart'
Other Thoughts: Use 2.1 speakers for anything that does not move around. These will fit in my cable bag for the long on site laptop jobs :)

jbl speakers
Pros: These speakers are great. The only type of person that would not like these are audiophiles of the highest order. They came 2 days early on the 3 day shipping. they were here before newegg sent me a tracking number the day after they came.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: like the last poster said there is no headphone jack. if you need the headphone stick it in the audio card and quit complaining about the speqkers not having a headphone jack.

Great sound
Pros: Clear sounding audio with no need of a subwoofer. If I wasn't a heavy gamer, I would get these myself. Got these for a build, I was surprised for a cheap pair of speakers the sound they produced was loud and very very clear and no distortion even using el cheapo onboard sound.
Cons: None. There is no need for a headphone jack on speakers. Even on my expensive Logitech Z5500, there is no headphone jack. If you want to use your headphones, just plug them in your sound card doh don't give them a bad review.
Other Thoughts: I wish newegg carried them in black ;-)

Perfect for what I need
Pros: No distortion at highest volume. Classy look, light-weight, cords disconnect from speakers unlike others I own.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Used these to upgrade my Mothers computer. Did not want to overpower her small room with volume. For this, they are perfect. If you want good, crip sound and a classy look, these will do nicely.

Pros: Cell phones do not interfere easily. Great look.
Cons: Volume knob slippery, have to grab with 2 hands to turn off. No big deal
Other Thoughts: Perfect for what I needed. Office speakers to not buzz when cell phones rang or walked by.

Warm, Large Sound
Pros: 60 - 20,000 Range. Non-slip feet. Cords are not too short. Great looking speakers. Plenty of volume and very listenable.
Cons: None!
Other Thoughts: I read the reviews for these speakers (and searched through a lot of other speakers and their reviews) and I couldn't order these fast enough. It was the right decision. These are great speakers. Buy them!

From laptop sound to JBL bliss
Pros: As I listen to the dramatic change from my onboard laptop speakers to this pair, the JBL duet sound is far past what anyone would expect for two small speakers to have. How did they put all this sound power into these two little speakers? This pair has clear lows and highs. They save space and have an aesthetic appeal. For the price, they cannot be beat.
Cons: The presence of an AC adapter. Why stop at removing the sub? Why not remove the space-wasting AC as well and subsitute a normal plug or even USB2.0? (Probably a far-fetched idea but there's always something to improve on)
Other Thoughts: The box said I'd receive white ones, but I was lucky to receive silver ones instead. They match with my silver setup.

Top Quality
Pros: These are the best sounding computer desktop speakers I've heard. And I am particular. You will forget how small they are when watching a DVD. Very accurate and clean sounding indeed! Put them on a sound card (I use Audigy Value from Newegg) and they shine.
Cons: Volume/on-off control is a little hard to turn. You must hold the speaker with the other hand in order to turn the knob. This is not a reason not to buy!
Other Thoughts: Small footprint. Attractive styling. Mine are the silver color (from Newegg a while back.)

Outstanding
Pros: These speakers far surpass what I thought I was getting. My girlfriend is extremely pleased with the quality of the speakers, as I am too. Every sound from highs, to mids, and to lows sound absolutely wonderful. She was very pleased with this gift.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: These are definately girly looking speakers. They are a very glossy white. This isn't a con, because they are my girlfriend's.

Pros: These are the best sounding speakers I have listen to ever. They sound like they are much larger than they are on my computer.Great Base sounds
Cons: I wish they came in Black or Silver color.
Other Thoughts: These speakers are best heard when purchased from New Egg because they are outstanding people to Deal with

wonderful speakers
Comments: I bought these speakers because the ones that came with my monitor were horrible and I have to say i'm pleasently surprised. Great speakers for the money, they sound great. My only gripe is that I ordered the black ones but received the silver ones instead, which is fine though because my monitor is silver/black.

Great Speakers
Comments: I have purchased 2 sets of these they are excellent sounding without the need of a subwoofer. However the PowerOn/Volume knob could be a little better.

Great Speakers
Comments: Got these pair looking for good sound without the hassle of a subwooder. I am very pleased, they are very lound and clear and a surprising amount of bass for just a small pair of speakers.

Sound Quality from the Center
Comments: Neat little speakers which can deliver. It is noticable that the sound source seems to come directly from the center if speakers are placed correctly. However, max power could be a little higher. Good choice for two speaker system for mainstream use.

VERY GOOD
Comments: the sound QUALITY is really something.
The genres that dont work 100% on this speaker would be some rap/hip hop and techno, But every other genre sounds quite amazing.
As said before, they are just normal size speakers, with extraordinary sound quality. It really does sound like a bigger speaker system produces the sound.
Mine dont have the static effect like the person before says.

Comments: Look nice, sound good, but have the touchiest volume knob ever. Lots of static when you turn them up/down, and after that, one of them is usually off, and you need to fine tune until they're both on. Easy to do, but a bit of a hassle, and not really a problem if you're more into volume controlled by your system/keyboard/whatever.

Great sound
Comments: I used to hook my iPod up to my home stereo to listen to tunes, but I just bought a laptop and decided to put a small set of speakers on my desk so I could listen to iTunes while using my computer. All I can say is - these speakers far exceeded what I was expecting. The sound is simply fantastic. And they get loud enough to really FEEL the music. I highly reccomend. Also, they look beautiful.

Good [Enough]
Comments: All I have to say is wow. First thing I did when I took them out of the box was notice how well made they were. Smooth as legs just shaved with a Mach 3 Turbo. Anyway, enough with the corny jokes. The next thing I thought was they wouldn't sound too great because of the size. Well, I plugged them in and turned on the music. First off, the bass was excellent. For the size, they really pump it out. Then, there was the trebble. Probably the nicest trouble I've ever heard. Read a review that said that equalizers can mess them up, didn't have too much of a problem there. Overall, if you're look to get great speakers without a subwoofer, these are them. They don't get any better.
