Rating + 5 Stop Looking You've Found It

Pros: After spending $150 on various combos in an attempt to get the right sound, I decided to scrap my collection of assorted combos and picked up the Pro Media 2.1's. I can say at last that I got what I was looking for and my search has ended.

These speakers deliver a lot of punch but they do it with a quality sound by delivering a well balanced range across all frequencies. Not too high, too low or too hollow in the mid range. They dialed on perfectly using my X-Fi Extreme Music. I can have as little or as much bass I want - important when living in an apartment!

The footprint is not much larger than other 2.1's that I've used.

Games are great as well as music, which is something I couldn't find in other name brands. I could get one of the other but not both, not until I bought the Klipsch Pro Media setup.

Cons: They are a bit pricy but in the end you get what you pay for.

I should have picked up these speakers first, as I would have saved money in the long run instead of throwing money away on others that were close but not good enough.

Other Thoughts: For FULL sound without taking up a ton of room these were the ones for me.

Pros: I've had these over 6 months and they are still sounding great. Can't beat them for the money.

Cons: Sub speaker is on the right. I know it really doesn't matter but if your desk setup is like mine, it's a space issue.

Other Thoughts: I think my neighbors are getting upset with them.

Rating + 2 Reviewing Promedia 5.1, Sounds great, but unreliable

Pros: Best sounding desktop speakers I heard. And I personally checked out more than a dozen higher end systems before I bought the Promedia 5.1 set.

Cons: I'm older and listen mostly to classical music along with some gaming. I don't abuse my audio equipment, but these can't take even normal, old person levels of sound. They got scratchy after a few months, and died outright after 13 months. Spend your money elsewhere, unless you can afford to replace your speakers every year.

Other Thoughts: High quality sound, low quality product. Keep in mind, this review is for the Promedia 5.1 speaker system, not this 2.1 system.

Rating + 3 Great speakers until they die

Pros: The speakers just flat out sound great. They make listening to music on your computer a joy.

Cons: My powered sub unit died after a little over two years. Review of the Klipsch forums suggests this isn't uncommon.

Other Thoughts: If you're ok with the chances of your unit fizzing out, it's hard to beat the sound quality.

Rating + 5 Exceptional Speakers

Pros: These speakers are simply astounding. The sub despite being smaller than what I have owned before was quite surprisingly powerful. The speakers and sub seem to be able to reproduce excellent sound for movies, and games... and even for music. Crazy!

Cons: Since everyone else says it is a problem I will too. The on/off switch is on the back of the sub... Not really a problem...an inconvenience.

Other Thoughts: I don't know of any 2.1 system that is better than this. Sure you could go for a 5.1 but really you would have inferior sound quality, and if your a gamer, then you want headphones, if you want it for movies, then watch it on a TV with a nice 5.1 home audio system. For a PC or laptop this is the best...

Cons: I bought them at Best Buy and overpaid :(

Rating + 5 Not that Super for Blasting Music, But GREAT

Pros: Very Amazing Sound. Built for Action Movies and Games. Clear Highs and Warm lows. Bass in movies and games can be thunderous. Very solid feeling build quality, and looks very classy. No crackling when adjusting the volume either!

Cons: Not the best for blasting music. When cranking volume levels, the sub cant really handle it that well, it gets punchy. which is funny because its so thunderous with movies and games. At normal / moderately loud volume levels they sound fantastic however. Maybe my songs are just too low quality.

Other Thoughts: The have a very classic old school look, and sound WAY better than equivalent priced Creative and Logitech Speakers. Reason? Because they don't put money into making them look flashy, its all into the speaker technology.

Pros: Sweet crisp sound when I first bought them. Bass sounded perfect. Rattled the walls playing bf2.

Cons: Very poor cord on the subwoofer. The connection broke after a year. Looking for a replacement speaker that hooks up to the subwoofer.

Other Thoughts: should'a bought a warrenty

Rating + 5 Excellent Audio Fidelity

Pros: Excellent audio quality. Went with Klipsch because a friend of mine had these speakers. After he gave me a demonstration of the fidelity of the speakers by turning up the volume I was immediately sold.

Cons: LED on control speaker is REALLY bright.

Rating + 5 AWESONE! Best 2.1 speakers

Pros: Crisp clean sound. Bass has its own seperate volume control. Look very nice.

Cons: Power switch on the sub, instead of on the desktop-speaker where the volume controls are.

Other Thoughts: These have the most amazing sound quality. you can hear all the sound. I mean it ALL, the very highs to the lowest lows. it is all well balanced sound. you can even hear the background voices very clearly. I've owned these things for almost 4 years now and they sound better every day. I upgraded my speaker system to a 6.1 surround sound that where THX certified and just sound horrible compared to these. so, now I have these back and gave the 6.1 to my dad.

Rating + 5 Amazing for a small system

Pros: Deep bass, clear highs and lows, powerful (can rock the windows), simple.

Cons: On the expensive side for a 2.1 system. You can get a 5.1 THX system for less, but not with the power and clarity that these provide.

Other Thoughts: Can't go wrong with these

Rating + 5 AWESOME Speakers

Pros: Clean highs, deep bass, can up the volume with little distortion

Cons: None since I've owned them

Other Thoughts: I bought the 5.1 version of these about 3 1/2 years ago. Since the day I hooked them up I have been in awe. These are the best computer speakers you can buy, period. The bass is crisp and shakes the room and the highs are incredible. Too bad Klipsch doesn't make them anymore. Watching movies on these are a dream and I would always recommend these to anybody.

Rating + 5 Awesome Speakers

Pros: These speakers are worth every penny. Sound clarity is great and the sub is very powerful. The sub will not give up, the louder you turn it up, the sub will handle the bass job. Also, THX certified films sound great on these speakers. You just won't want to turn the volume down. =D

Cons: Just that the power on/off switch is in the back. But wutever, not much of a problem. Sound quality covers up for it.

Other Thoughts: The sub will shake your walls.

Rating + 5 Great speakers

Pros: Spectacular sounding speakers. I upgraded from the logitech X-230 to these. Major improvment. I can hear more details in music and games. In DoW I can actually hear the squads footsteps and hear the cloaked sniper firing his gun, in great detail. Didnt know onboard audio can sound this good. Clearity is great with music too. I can hear more instrument detail as well.

Cons: The power on/off switch is on the subwoofer box!!! I've gotten used to using my foot everytime I turn it on/off, kind of a pain!

Other Thoughts: Well worth the $150. Good upgrade for people with Vista, due to the fact that there are still no 100% Vista compliant sound cards out yet.

Rating + 5 The best speakers I ever bought!

Pros: I have owned the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speaker system for well over 4 years now. I have to say it has worked flawlessly since the day I bought it! The clarity of the speakers at high volumes is astounding. There is little to no distortion at all. The subwoofer really packs a punch as well. The two 6.5's drive so well. I sometimes think they're 10's when I notice the windows in my bedroom bowing in and out from the air pressure these things generate. And every now and then something in the ceilings and walls starts rattling!

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: Klipsch is simply the best...clearly.

Rating + 5 Exceeds expectations

Pros: Since the late seventies I have purchased hundreds of computer components for personal use( hey its cheaper than a boat!). Many purchases have been disappointments but most has performed as expected. These speakers are one of very few products that have delighted me. The bass they produce is felt through you stomach not your ears. Hushed Van Cliburn piano pieces and demonstrative Van Halen numbers are delivered with equal aplomb. The audio delivered by first person shooters becomes more frightening than the visuals. FEAR becomes really fearful. This is the best component purchase I have made in years

Cons: I diligently tried but could not find anything to complain about.
The bass easily perforates walls, you may get some complaints about that.

Rating + 5 Very nice.

Pros: Really nice speakers with excellent build quality and decent heft. The sound quality is great -- I own an X-Fi soundcard and these actually sound better with the Creative software EQ disabled -- great job Klipsch! Also able to control the subwoofer level from a control on the main speaker.

Cons: Not a great fan of bare-wire clip connectors -- I would have much preferred a plug connector on the speaker-outs on the sub.

Other Thoughts: Depending on your room and setup, you have to take the time to "dial-in" the level of the sub as it can easily overpower the sound from the mains. Once you do, you are rewarded with rich sound -- the crossover is just right, making the sub and the speakers blend seamlessly.

Rating + 5 These speakers rock

Pros: These speakers have incredible quality and are very reliable. For instance, I listen to Techno as loud as it can go with the bass really high so it shakes my whole house. Usually this would destroy your speakers, not with these tho! Good price for quality too.

Cons: Umm,none.

Other Thoughts: If your gonna invest in these, I would recommend a decent sound card, you dont need one, but it helps.

Rating + 3 crackling distortion

Pros: Good sound dynamics, good tight bass lacking bloat.

Cons: Big speakers, cheap connectors for the price, crackling distortion from the get go.

Other Thoughts: I should have put this review online sooner now that I look at the other reviews here. The majority of glowing reviews are (as always with such websites) from people who just took delivery of these. When you look at those owning for a year or longer, there is a surprising number of cases with similar problems to me.

Had crackling distortion within the first year, but Klipsch tech support convinced me it was my set up because a portable CD player connected to the promedias (I had the 4.1 version) didn't put out any audible crackle. After about 3 years of suffering and trying different audio cards, I finally determined it was the speakers (I replaced them, gave to a friend, they did the same for him). It's clear to me that Klipsch has some quality control problems, and further, they appear to know it and refuse to take action. Recommend against these speakers or anything else from this company.

Pros: sound reproduction, clarity, value, and power.

Cons: thin speaker cables and power switch at the back of the sub. i leave mines on almost all the time.

Other Thoughts: i've owned these speakers for about 5 years, and it's still going strong. since then, i've purchased expensive surround sets, but i keep going back to this one. the cables have been replaced with the monster ones. i've paid almost twice the amount as now. it reflects the quality of your sound card and sampling of audio files. i would buy this product again if anything happends to mine.

Pros: These speakers pack a mean punch for how much they're worth. The bass is of high quality.

Cons: Sometimes the bass distorts at high volume levels. Also the mediums and highs are a little washed-up, but you can fix that with your computer's equalizer.

Other Thoughts: Don't get me wrong, the cons are hardly noticeable unless you really try to. They are good for music, games, and movies. They are especially good for music when equalized properly. This is an offer you can't refuse.

Rating + 5 Overkill (you'll love them!)

Pros: These speakers are no joke. I bought a pair of these a couple years back and was so impressed by their output that I moved them from my computer to my DJ studio to use as mixing monitors. Seriously, these things pump out so much high quality output they're complete overkill for a desktop speaker system; but that's why you'll love them. Forget what they say, you can never have too much of a good thing, don't hesitate, if you have an ear for quality sound you won't be disappointed! Just bought another pair for my new PC build.

Cons: None

Rating + 3 Questionable quality control

Pros: More watts than your average PC speakers. Looks pretty good.

Cons: Doesn't have treble controls - you NEED an equalizer. Otherwise highs are muted. Bass is boomy unless you turn down the bass control to about 20%. You still get good bass output at that level.

Other Thoughts: The first set came DOA. In the 2nd set the left audio-out was dead, but after having a CD playing for about 15 mins it started working fine. Wierd. Although the Klipsch has more power output, ultimately, the Altec Lansing VS4121 has much crisper highs (I have these on my other PC). For about 60% less money you are better off with the AL.

Rating + 5 An audiophile's dream

Pros: The sound quality is near perfect. For being a bit on the pricey side, you still get plenty of bang and boom for the buck. For making music, the variable bass-level is helpful for testing purposes. The headphone jack is also in arm's reach.

Cons: Buzzing out of the right channel occurs at specific mid-frequencies. The power switch on the BACK of the sub is a terrible place for it, so I just never turn them off. They're always warmed up and ready to blast music and games.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if anyone else gets the buzz or not, but after some time playing some tunes it goes away. If you get these, take the covers off the satellites to get all the sound you're supposed to. The covers cut out some mid-high to high frequencies. Once i took the covers off them, the sound was incredible!!

Pros: I have owned these speakers for over 5 years, I was so pleased with the sound quality that when my house burned down I went right back out and bought the exact same pair....for the money you can't get a better sound quailty, blows every other brand out of the water, just an absolutely amazing sound

Cons: power switch is on the back of the sub

Rating + 4 haven't quite realized how good they are yet

Pros: 1. bass is incredible - tight, deep, punchy... you feel it as much as you hear it, plus you can easily tell the sub's quality construction
2. highs sound especially crisp compared to my old cyberacoustics junk
3. excellent crossover, no sub involvement with classical music whatever
4. midrange woofer plays pretty d*mn low!
5. very volume-capable
6. easy setup, spring-clips are nice and easy for upgrading. the 2nd device input is a nice feature, and mixing is cool.

it's got everything you need, nothing you don't!

Cons: 1. as stated, power switch position
2. sub gets warm, for me after running the whole day on medium volume it honestly doesn't get burning like some ppl claim.
3. when turning on, it makes an audible *pop* (it's not really a big deal..play music while turning on eliminates problem).
4. midrange woofer bottoms out at very high volumes (as do all speakers right?) and creates a distasteful sound

don't get me wrong though, this set def. worth the money...

Other Thoughts: if you're wondering which 2.1's to get, this is the one to go for... listned to logitech's 200w thx 2.1s as comparison... and klipsch definitely sounds better.

noticed some people said sub lags a half second after satellites... happened to me at first but i realized they depended on location of sub... if you get this, your sub closer to the wall, or elevate it on top of something sturdy and the lag goes away.

i spent a long time searching for the best 2.1s, including actual listening and reading reviews for ease of setup, reliability, elite-factor etc. the pm's definitely won't let you down!

Pros: Wow, thats my response after plugging these in. Excellent sound quality, and the subwoofer pounds. These can get real loud. Im impressed with the performance of the subwoofer with its size, its half the size as my last but sounds twice its size. I can hear every element of a song with this speakers and sounds so real. Id buy these again if given the choice. I highly recommend!!!

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: The the rotory knobs feel cheap. I like the fact that if i use ear phones the volume control on the speakers control the vol on the head phones (my last system did not)

Pros: I bought these speakers factory refurbished directly from Klipsch for 89.00 dollars. For computer speakers the sound quality really good, especially when listening to dance music. One song in particular is Linda Clifford's "Changin" the Blaze Shelter mix. You really hear her vocals, given the optimum EQ settings and the bass is just "HITTIN'"!

Cons: Like everybody else, it's that power switch at the rear of the subwoofer. An inconvience.

Other Thoughts: To be factory refurbished they look brand new...not a mark on them. I took a real good look. I would highly reconmend these Klipsch 2.1's to anybody.

Pros: Perfect speakers for MUSIC,and I really mean that, you can't do any better than these.

Cons: No treble switch, but you can adjust that with software to your liking. Not the best speakers for games, but there all right. Wires are a bit fragile.

Other Thoughts: Had the same problem as one of the reviewers below, one speaker was louder then the other, then that speaker stoped working all together, found out it was a dead channel in the sub, had them replaced with a new pair, and they have been amazing ever since.

Pros: Has very good bass but thats about it.

Cons: When I turn the volume up the left speaker has a higher volume than the right side. Need a little fine tuning to get the volume at the same level for both left and right speaker. Mid and high is kind of hazy. Not crystal clear. The sub gets very hot. The power switch is in the back and is kind of hard for me to turn on and off so I just leave it on. Poor quality cables, not gold plated plugs and kind of thin, cheap wires.

Other Thoughts: I got the speakers as gift, so it wasn't a waste of my money. I would never buy this brand.

Pros: Powerful 30w satellites with quailty tone. Booming subwoofer easily controlled from satellite. MP3 player plugs directly in to the satellite.

Cons: Power switch is hidden on back of subwoofer, which if located where it is hard to reach (like under the desk), makes it difficult to turn off (I leave mine on all the time). Blindingly bright green LED power indicator on satellite is distracting. Satelltie feet were delivered crooked but readily bent to correct.

Other Thoughts: To Klipsch: Less is more; kill or mute the LED. Put a power switch on the satellite.

Expensive compared to the competition, but the reviews stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Rating + 5 Have you heard these yet? Because you should.

Pros: Everything. Simply everything. I remember when I was buying them thinking " I must be really stupid to pay this much for computer speakers. " Then I got home, plugged them in, and couldn't believe my ears. They're so crisp, clean, powerful, small, well designed, well put together, and they have not made me frown once. Just look at the other reviews, the numbers speak for themselves.

Cons: The price might get you at first, but when you hear them, you stop caring about it.

Other Thoughts: I honestly think, especially when compared to home theater speakers, that the price on these is low for the sound they produce. I'm hearing tones in my music I've never heard before, and I've got an entire new outlook on the quality of speakers because of this.

Rating + 5 Best 2.1

Pros: Crisp, clear sound, no distortion, great for a PC. The sound quality is phenomenal, makes music full and extremely enjoyable. I’m using this with a X-fi extreme music; thought they were great without the card but it went to a whole different level. Great for games aswell love hearing all the ambient noise's clearly.

Cons: The only con is you can’t turn them off from the satellite. The power switch is on the back of the sub.

Other Thoughts: Klipsch has had two versions of these speakers. The older version you can turn off from the satellite but where the speakers plug into the sub is made of some gel material which if you mash the plug in you can destroy it rendering it DOA (a friend of mine found out the hard way). The newer version CAN’T turn off by the satellite and has a much better all-plastic place to plug in the speakers much like a receiver would.

Rating + 5 KLIPSCH POWER

Pros: Very complete range of sounds, excellent bass support thanks to the 130 watt subwoofer, satellites are crisp and clean, that's why it got THX Certification!!!

Cons: Main power is on the back of the subwoofer hiding :-( Also somewhat touchy cabling. Cost is a lil higher than average.

Other Thoughts: For those who doubt Klipsch, you need to do some tech comparisons. I work for a major audio electronics retailer and have not spent a day at my job not enjoying Klipsch products. They easily rival Bose, Harmon Kardon, JBL, Denon, Altec Lansing, among others. When comapred to popular computer audio brands like creative labs and logitech, the sound quality is superb. CL and Logi only offer speakers that reach decent mids and good highs, but their subwoofers are worth nothing. If you want true hi-fi sound with quality support and all around range spend the extra $$ and go with the KLIPSCH POWER

and we cant forget that newegg rocks ^^

Rating + 1 Fatal Flaw

Pros: Great sound, while they last.

Newegg never ceases to amaze me at the speed of their delivery, even to an APO address.

Cons: The whole system depends on a cheaply made preamp input plug that will literally go to pieces if you're not careful. After that, the system is useless. Simply unplugging the cable can cause it to come apart.

The support forums at klipsch.com are full of people complaining about their 6 pin mini DIN connectors that fell apart, yet Klipsch will not even acknowledge the problem, or offer a reasonable solution.

Other Thoughts: Be EXTREMELY careful with the preamp input cable and you will really enjoy these speakers. One wrong move, and you might as well throw them out, as I have.

There is a thriving market on online auction sites for repairs of just this problem, or your local computer whiz could probably solder up a replacement wire, but why go theough all that trouble when you could buy a perfectly good system from some other brand.

Pros: I stricktly got these to listen to MP3 music on my computer. I am very impressed. I am using a sound blaster Live sound card. The sound is very clear. High - high's and Low - low's. Loads of bass.
I listen to classic rock from Bob Seger to Tesla. You will here things in music that you didn't notice before. The clarity really is amazing.

Cons: Power switch is on back of sub. On some tracks can be too much bass. I noticed this mostly on live recordings.(This could be caused by my sound card)

Other Thoughts: I have a decent home stereo system and the Klipsch sound better. They do get really loud.
I researched computer speakers for about 2 weeks, reading hundred's of reviews from many sources. I decided on the Klipsch in the end. I have no regrets.

Pros: If you are looking for a high end 2.1 speaker system, look no further. The Promedia 2.1's are an amazing set of speakers. I use my set with my onboard audio which came with my labtop. The sound is great and the bass is deep and rich. These get pretty loud too. For top-of-the-line 2.1's look no further. You will get your moneys worth.

Cons: There are honestly no cons I can see with these speakers. If anything, some people may find the price a bit pricey for a set of 2.1's- but remember these are top-of-the-line speakers from the industries most reputable manufacturer.

Rating + 5 For the price, these are darn near perfect

Pros: Longevity. Sound quality. Value. I've owned this speaker system for about a year now (11 mos) and I've had no problems with it what so ever. When hosting parties, this set of speakers is the main sound sytem. The sound is so full and loud that I've actually had the police called on me for a noise disturbance. Gaming on this 2.1 is a joy. With the right soundcard you can pinpoint the direction of enemies better than any other 2.1 sound systems that I have tried. Almost a year later, I'm still stoked for the price I payed for these speakers.

Cons: I honestly can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: I use this as my main audio entertainment speakers. It beats the dung out of my J%C amp and home speakers. Though, be sure you have a descent soundcard for playing games. Again, for this quality of speakers, its more than worth the price. Highly Remcomned. Newegg Rocks!!!

Rating + 3 Good sound - OK quality

Pros: Excellent sound for a computer speaker. Even with and older sound card.

Cons: Volume knob started to crackle when used within about a month, Left speaker connection (the output from the right or main speaker) also became loose within the first year. For the $ these things should not happen. That's why it only received a 3 out of 5 from me.

Other Thoughts: Still sounds good after over 3 years of ownership, it's the little things that bring it down.

Rating + 5 The King of 2.1 speakers.

Pros: Best sounding 2.1 speakers I have ever heard. Been using Klipsch speakers from 1980 for my home theater surround sound and I've been happy with everything this brand has put out. *And these live up to the name!*

These speakers have plenty of power. Klipsch has marked the perfect setting for the bass knob so the bass doesn't sound too strong.
The tweeters produce loud, clean/crisp sounds and the sub woofer creates clean, deep, undistorted bass. I hear sounds I've never heard before in a lot of my music. -and thats with onboard sound.

Cons: I don't think there is a con with these. Maybe the price?
-Still a great deal here on Newegg considering these originally retailed for two hundred bucks at one time.

Other Thoughts: I ebayed these and saved A LOT of money. a few scratches and the volume knob is a little glitchy.. but i just use the volume controller on my keyboard.
Works Perfect.

Pick up a set of these, you wont be disappointed.

Pros: I am an audiophile so if you want a review you can read this one.
>Bass Response Superb (heart stopper)
>Clarity Top notch
>High Volume output, NOT LOUD (there is a difference)
>Looks Great
>Good Control feel and smooth resistance

Cons: None.
The Switch is on the sub on the floor so when i plug in the sub i have to mute my computer, turn the volume down, or press 'Stop', press the mute on my G15, press the mute on the X-fi Elite Pro...ya...such a bummer....(scarcasm)

Other Thoughts: Equipment. Creative Audigy X-fi Elite Pro, 100% Gold Connections, carpeted room, wood Desk.

I recommend turning the volume knob's to 100% since they are resistance based, no resistance means no loss of quality...just use your computer volume..

Pros: Produces absolutely beautiful, crisp, well-defined sound from a PC, an ipod or even a TV! They're THX certified for a reason. Quality construction.

Cons: Bass breaks up at very high volumes, but that's not what these are for. Don't get me wrong, they're still quite loud! On/off button incovenient.

Other Thoughts: These are not for your teenage gamer or party thrower - they always want it louder! However, if you're into "real" music, you cannot go wrong with these. Simply stunning sound that let's you hear things missed using those louder alternatives out there. Highly recommended!

Pros: I wish I had the speakers by now to tell you. I was really looking forward to getting these!

Cons: I ordered these about a week ago and after 1 week of my order being in "Step 1" it was canceled. I called Newegg and they said that my card was declined. I called my credit card and they said it wasnt. Now the speakers are on back order and the other products I wanted to purchase have gone up in price...

Other Thoughts: I've never had much luck with newegg's service. I mu st just have bad luck or something because there are always problems whenever I try to order here... I'm tempted to order the speakers from Klipcsh and pay the $xx shipping. With my luck by the time these get back in stock here there wont be free shipping anymore.

Pros: Took a little tweaking and a little break in before i was happy, but I do believe that these are the best computer speakers I've ever heard. I can listen to them for hours now it seems. A massive improvement over my old Altec's. Oh, Did I mention that they get loud, really loud!!! I think the sub needs a little break in, it seems alot more natural now. First set of computer speakers that made my ears hurt a bit.

Cons: None that I can see, cept for maybe the speaker stand "feet" were a bit tweaked upon arrival, but it was literally nothing to give them a little twist to get them into shape.

Other Thoughts: I would consider this brand name in the future maybe over any other brand name. Speakers so far have met or exceeded all my expectations.

Rating + 5 Outstanding

Pros: Being in my bedroom with an old school full size stereo system was nice, but I decided it was time to go a simpler route, freeing lots of space in the process with a nice 2.1 system. Choosing this was a no-brainer after reading such rave reviews, and I am very impressed. Coupled with an X-Fi Platinum and music encoded at 1000Kbps, it's all I could ever ask for. Plenty of base, crisp highs, and solid mids.

Cons: If I had to name one con, it would be that at times the subwoofer seems that it's lagging behind slightly (as noted by at least one previous review.) Not a big deal at all since it's not easy to notice unless you listen for it. A high level knob would indeed be nice, but using the software equalizer does the trick well.

Other Thoughts: Simply an outstanding system. I highly recommend it.

Pros: I am a complete audiophile and all I can say is that these speakers are flawless. They may not be the loudest ones out there, (pretty close) but the quality is above and beyond every other system I've heard before. 200 watts of THX certified amazingness pretty much sums it up. Best Christmas present ever? I think so.

Cons: Absolutely none.

Other Thoughts: I kind of wish I wasn't a poor college student or my parents were rich so I could have gotten the ProMedia Ultra 5.1 system, but these are amazing enough for me for now.

Pros: Incredible speakers.. Great bass at high volume levels, a little distorted at max range but who wouldn't expect that??? If you are in the market for a set of 2.1 speakers. BUY THESE! you will not be dissapointed.

Cons: None. except that the power switch is on the back of the sub, mine is on the floor :( which is a little inconvenient.

Other Thoughts: I actually prefer this 2.1 to most 5.1 and 7.1 systems, maybe because there is more wattage directed to a smaller amount of speakers?

Pros: loud. thats for sure. the quality is great as long as you have the speakers placed properly. i have had these for 2 years and the sound quality has not gone down. the input jack on the volume pod is great for hooking up an iPod for when my computer is off/broken :(

Cons: the connector to the sub is weak...pathetic compared to the quality of the rest of the system. needs to be jiggled into place very often after 1 year of use. decided to just replce the part myself, and hope that fixes the problem. The forum on their website is filled with complaints about this connector.

Other Thoughts: overall, these speakers rock. the connector issue is not enough to make me want to buy any other speakers. these are completely worth the money and way better than competitors...|<LIP$H

Pros: I think I've owned these speakers for over 4 years now and they sound just as good as the day I bought them. Beautiful sounding from the mightiest roar to the tiniest squeak. BUY THESE NOW!!

Cons: Seems to be a problem with the volume nob when going from no volume and up. Maybe a connection problem but it only effects about one degree of turning and the sound never degrades because of it.

Other Thoughts: Besides the volume nob deal (which only showed up around the 2 year mark) there is absolutely nothing wrong with these bad boys. Like I said before, I've owned these for a little over 4 years, I haven't found the need to upgrade and I don't plan on to.

Pros: The 5.1 system is great, but that's not why I'm writing this review. I wanted to make a point that Klipsch's customer service is excellent. After about a year, my sub stopped working correctly. Pros: These speakers deserve the consistently great reviews they get. The sound is natural and clear, and the bass can be set to thunderous levels if you so desire. Music is immersive and natural sounding, with none of the boxiness or boominess you get from lesser computer speakers.

Cons: Nothing that matters.

Rating + 5 These Are Worth The Price

Pros: These are quality speakers. I give them five stars because for the price Newegg sells them for they are worth it. They have plenty of punch and sound pretty good. People have mentioned having wire problems. I found the connection to be good quality and very east to hook up.
These speaker put out a nice crisp big sound. Enough to fill a large room with room to spare.
They are very versatile and can be used in a variety of ways. They are much more than computer speakers.

Cons: It would be nice if you had some control over the treble. You can control the base but no way to adjust the treble.

Other Thoughts: I have a set of Altec Lansing 5021's which I think sound better than these. But you cant get those anymore. These are a good second choice. Well worth the price here at newegg.
As usual excellent service from Newegg.

Rating + 5 Absolutely breathtaking!

Pros: Clear, crisp audio across every spectrum. My jazz and classical tracks are reproduced so precisely that I feel like I'm listening to them live in the front row of a concert hall - it's absolutely phenomenal! The subwoofer might not be as monstrous as some sets out there, but it puts out enough clean, precise bass to easily shake the walls for bass lovers.

Cons: None that I can think of. The lack of copious amounts of extra connectivity might annoy some.

Other Thoughts: I've been looking for new speakers for a while, but when I heard these at a local B&M store and it was love at first sound. The test set they had out was playing the store's lame test music clips as if they were high definition audio, and I knew with my X-Fi, they would be absolutely phenomenal. I was right - these blow away my previous Logitech Z-560's. Not only are they smaller, but they put out sound that is WORLDS better - highs are finally clear thanks to the tweeters, and the bass isn't nearly as "boomy". And you know what? I don't miss having 'surround' speakers. These Promedias are compact enough to fit in a smaller space like my dorm, but put out big enough sound to fill a larger room with ample audio bliss. Highly recommended!

Pros: Great sound with excellent bass from the subwoofer. It was the best of the speakers I could actually test with my iPod in a retail store setting. Far better than any comparably priced unit designed as an iPod dock.

Cons: Power switch on subwoofer somewhat inconvenient even though I leave them on most of the time.

Other Thoughts: First set was purchased primarily for playing my wife's iPod at work via input on speaker. Hooking them up to the computer was secondary but she could have the best of both worlds. Second set was purchased for computer/iPod at home.

Pros: Excellent sound reproduction. Clear bass, treble and midrange. I have owned these for 3 years without any issues at all. These are the loudest computer speakers I have ever heard, I can rattle the windows and doors in my house easily, I guarantee if you turn the volume to max on these you are in a warehouse or have a terrible sound card.

Cons: Power switch is on the sub woofer, very inconvenient. I can only turn the sub up 1/4 to 1/3 with the sub in a corner, sub is very very powerful.

Other Thoughts: Also own a set of Lxxxtech Z-4s, the Klipsch are better speakers.

Pros: I've had these speakers for about four years and they still sound great. One of the best 2.1 products around. Clear highs and tight bass. I needed to turn the treble and bass down on the equalizer so they weren't so overpowering.

Cons: Just minor complaints. Not enough connectors only a headphone jack and stereo in plug for cd/mp3 players. I've had some trouble with the plugs in the back of the speakers not having a good connection but if I play with them a little they work fine again.

Other Thoughts: Living in an apartment sucks. My neighbors complain about these small speakers. Wait till I get the 5.1's!

Pros: Excellent sound. Again: arguably the best 2.1s on the market. Reasonably easy to set up. Optional faceplates for the satellites (use when placed near monitor, please!).

Cons: PS2-style cable often comes loose. Comes with shoddy satellite cabling. Control unit's a bit flimsy, adjusting volume frequently cause crackling as it moves. Lost a channel to electronics malfunction... after more than 2 years of great (and ruggeD) service.

Other Thoughts: A really fine set. The sound is fantastic, but the components are not as sturdy as they could be, which became an issue with time. The control pod (beneath one of the sats) is really not up to the par of the actual audio components. Overall, a great set with minor issues.

Rating + 5 I like them!

Pros: Good work Klipsch. I think it is very well balenced sound from lows to highs. I don't think i could be more pleased with any other system.

Cons: The first system they sent me had a buzz or humm at high volumes but i sent it for an exchage from NewEgg and everything is perfect now.

Other Thoughts: There needs to be a power switch for the system on the control speaker or at least somewhere more easily reached.

Rating + 5 Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

Pros: Arguably the best 2.1 comp speakers on the market. Very rich sound.

Cons: Power switch on the back of the subwoofer. Should have integrated it onto the control pod speaker. Midrange music somewhat muddled.

Other Thoughts: These speakers are made for gaming. Brings out the fullness of game acoustics. Music was not too bad on playback. Subwoofer punches very well, but sometimes overpowers the midrange. Overall, a great system

Rating + 4 Superior sound quality

Pros: Dedicated tweeter produces high quality treble. Subwoofer really pounds out the bass. Midrange is the best out of any 2.1 speakers I have ever heard, way better than my old Lxxxxxxh's. I like the sub control knob on the right speaker because I don't have to go under the table to reach the knob on the back of the sub.

Cons: Subwoofer is a bit muddy. The control needs to be aligned with the little white dot on the edge of the knob in order for the speakers to sound really good. If it goes past that, the bass gets distorted and doesn't please my ears. I guess this is good if I'm watching a movie or playing a game, but not while listening to rock/metal.

Other Thoughts: I would easily choose these speakers over my old ones. These sound much clearer and refined than my brother's 5.1 system. I'm glad coughed up the dough for these babies.

Rating + 3 Boomy bass

Pros: Good highs and midrange. Good construction.

Cons: The bass is boomy and I can't get the system adjusted so it sounds good. The room layout and speaker placement don't improve my experience. I am very disappointed.

Other Thoughts: I'm very particular about bass reproduction so count that as a bias. But, I find an Axxec Lxxsing system I bought at Stxxxes a couple years ago for $xx has much better bass reproduction than tghe Klipsch.

Rating + 5 GREAT

Pros: Best sounding computer speakers I have ever heard. I played many types of music on them and every time they sounded great. They sound better than most people's car audio systems. BUY NOW!!

Cons: If they came with the monster cable upgrade from Klipsch for free, it would make this deal sweeter

Other Thoughts: No need for big 5.1 systems. Compact 2.1 that sounds like a 5.1

Rating + 4 Good sound ....

Pros: Good sound

Cons: Cables have issues.

Other Thoughts: Bought these 2 months ago, started having problems 2 weeks ago. Cable that connects the control pod to the subwoofer box has a very cheesey ps2 connector; broke off with little handling. Not an easy fix, contol pods are hard to come by, Visit this page to learn more:

Rating + 5 Klipsch Promedia 2.1 Speakers

Pros: Awesome sound reproduction. Compared to my old Logitech z-5300e set, these have a much more balanced sound. With the Logitech speakers I would have to turn the bass all the way down for the sound to be balanced.

Cons: It's about the same price as my old Logitech z-5300 5.1 speaker set.

Other Thoughts: For most users 2.1 speakers will be substantial. Most computer sound is in two channel stereo, so purchasing speaker sets greater than 2.1 is a waste of money unless you are using them as part of a home theater or for gaming all the time.

Rating + 5 You just can’t go wrong with these.

Pros: Along with the other reviews on newegg MaximumPC rates these speakers as a top performer. So far I have been very happy with my purchase. I cant believe how long I have lived with 30 dollar speakers.

Cons: Not really a Con, But don’t forget to reconfigure your soundcard for these speakers. I found that I had bass boost enabled which distorted the sound of speakers. Once I disabled bass boost the speakers worked fine. I figured bass boost is not needed with speakers you just turn up the base on the sub.

Rating + 5 Already worth it

Pros: Clear, loud, simple set-up. This 2.1 system means business. Sub very musical, thumps wonderfully. Movies sound intense like they should. Mids and highs are quite pleasurable.

Cons: Seriously, that I didn't get these sooner. And that some of my lower quality music really shows on these.

Other Thoughts: I've had these plugged in and playing for less than 5 hours, and I can already tell that I've purchased a nice system. Well worth the money. You won't be disappointed if you want a space saving, nearly face-melting 2.1 setup. If you get these, get a decent sound card (I've got Audigy 2ZS). So... what are you waiting for? Buy!
