Good for money.
Pros: Surround sound. Sleek modern look. Good bass.
Cons: The controller knobs should have had some texture.. the smoothness is sometimes hard to grip..
Other Thoughts: It's easy to setup plug the red into the red, green into green etc.. Book tells you which speaker is for right, center, left, etc..
For the price I think it's a good deal. Also if you experience "noise" "static" try changing your settings on your equalizer.. I had mine to full bass, and the speakers (not subwoofer) would sound very static-y.. Setting my equalizer to none fixed the problem..
This thing can't play lower then 50hz it can do... pretty good. Lower then that it's not good.. but I don't think much of you play anything @ 50hz anyway.

Absolutely Amazing
Pros: These speakers are perfect. Since the very first day I bought them, I was amazed at how loud they could get. I live in a decent sized house and when the speakers are turned all the way up, the subwoofer actually rattles things on the opposite end of the house. Great sound quality and great bass. I would definitely recommend these speakers for anyone that wants to add a little extra push to their entertainment needs, or simply wants to have a system that can handle anything you throw at it.
Cons: Not really a con, but be careful when using these in a dorm or apartment setting. The bass can carry quite easily through walls and floors, so your neighbors may be disrupted a bit (yet there are simple solutions for soundproofing available). Like I said, not a con, it just means the subwoofer is high quality.
Other Thoughts: BUY THESE!

Great Speakers
Pros: These speakers are great! Great sound! The remote is great with all the features that matter volume, bass, power, and matrix mode. Matrix mode is a great feature, it emulates 5.1 surround sound from 2 channel audio!
Cons: None so far

Good for the price. Hard to hook up both PC and Console to the speakers.
Pros: - Reasonable price on Newegg - Easy setup - Nice clear sound - Console connector
Cons: - Poor bass - Cannot hook both a PC and Console (xbox 360) to the speakers at once unless you use another splitter. - UGLY speakers (wife is not happy about these as we share an office)
Other Thoughts: Good sound for the money. If I had another $100 to blow, I would spend it on a better set. These buggers are really ugly and blocky - don't get them if you want any sort of style or clean look to your desk.
Really annoyed about the console connector that comes with it. Logitech should have a separate input on the subwoofer for the console connection. I use this for both my PC speakers and console speakers (as I have my 360 hooked to the same monitor). I had to use a mini plug splitter on the green connection on the subwoofer for the console hookup and for the PC sound hookup. This seems to mess up the volume levels a bit, because of the splitter degrading the signal probably.

Pros: Sounds excellent. I used them for editing, and they are as close to high performance as you can get without spending over $100. The main reason for purchase was for the volume/power control on a remote. It works great. Just sits on my desk and my speakers are out of sight.
Cons: Don't think you can get these and MAX OUT the volume and bass. These are meant for computers. Heck, I use mine for watching movies, too and they sound excellent. Just don't think they will sound great at max volume.

Just what I was looking for
Pros: I bought these primarily for gaming. I'm no audiophile so I'll not comment on sound quality other than to say they sound fine to me. I haven't noticed any distortion or buzzing at the moderate sound levels I use. The remote is nice but likes to try slipping off of my desk because of the cord. The center speaker is designed to sit on top of your flat panel monitor, and wonder of wonders, it actually stays there.
Cons: I wish the cables to the rear speakers were a bit longer so I could run them on one side of the desk. As is I'll be stepping over one of them unless I can rearrange my desk area to move them a bit closer. I can't really fault the system for that though, the specs are the specs and I read them.
Other Thoughts: I don't place a big premium on sound, so I tend to skimp on speakers and such, but I'm really pleased with these, regardless of price. As usual Newegg was great.

Great for price!
Pros: To be honest i didn't expect much from these so maybe thats why i think there so great! i use them for gaming and are pretty helpful, i can clearly hear grenades landing next to me! lol but for real they are really sturdy, they dont feel cheep to me at all! they can get pretty loud if you turn the base down as you crank up the volume. the base can't hit very hard but did anyone really think it would (=
Cons: They wont make you go def... )=
Other Thoughts: when i play games like CoD4 i usually have the base on max >.< but the louder you want the sound the lower you should put the base

Logitech X-540 Speakers
Pros: They sound really good for about 6 months or so....
Cons: This is my second pair of these speakers...I thought that maybe...just..maybe, I had a fluke for my last set...three amps out of the five speaker amps from the control amp box blew...exactly two weeks after my warranty expired! iI know it sounds funny...Now, the same three speaker amps...yes...the same three...left-front, left-rear and right-rear amps blew out in the box....with an entirely new computer system, sound card...etc! yep..you guessed it...three weeks after the warranty expired! Don't get me wrong here....these are great sounding little speakers...just the fregging control box electronics are X#@&! these have been written-up before..and logitech just don't seem to get it!!! So now they don't get any more of my hard earned money!! When you guys fix this problem...and I mean "Really Fix" the problem, i'll trade you some of my green-backs for your systems...! I'm outta herehuys, i'm looking somewhere else! Respectfully Submitted; Gerard

99% Worth it
Pros: If you are an average user/music & movie lover/gamer and your sound card supports 5.1 surround, these beauties are plug & play simplicity at it's best. Center channel speaker clips onto your LCD monitor and will not affect it negatively in any way. The rear channel speakers have plenty of wire for a very decent setup in a small to medium sized room.
Cons: These speakers are absolutely fantastic, but one could spend another $100 or more and get speakers that are really REALLY fantastic. For the price range though, these can't be beat.
Other Thoughts: Relatively low wattage for a surround sound set, but the average user will be blown away by the sound quality and rich bass. Totally worth it.

Excellent Speakers
Pros: Great Sound, even when cranked up. I use these for gaming when I'm tired of headphones and I can still hear footsteps and the direction they're coming in. I did a lot of research into 5.1 speakers when I decided to buy, and these just kept coming in first place. Glad I purchased them...
Cons: Wish there was a control to boost up the sound in the two rear speakers; like a "balance" knob or something. The way these work, there's no way to adjust volume of rear speakers; it's like "all in one".

Not hearing all speakers??
Pros: Great Quality, Logitech is a good name brand company for speakers.
Cons: See other if you are having trouble getting all of your speakers to work.
Other Thoughts: I had the Logitech x530s with integrated sound on an Ma79x ud4 motherboard from Gigabyte. All of the speakers i got from walmart worked, yet I couldn't get them all to work at the same time. None were broken, but no matter what I did w/ my realteck hd audio I couldn't get them all to work, even setting it to 7.1 speakers. I found out you have to use the 3 and 2 splitter that comes with the box and used a headphone splitter (red and white to a black single for the headphone jack and got them all to work at the same time. My motherboard had ports in the back for all 3, but they still didn't work. Use the splitter and walmart sells the white and red splitter also. only 6 bucks. Hope this helps some of you guys.

Logitech X-540 Speakers
Pros: Where to start? I have had these speakers for over a year, and hands down, they are the best speakers I have ever owned (granted, I went from a 2 watt, 2 speaker set from Dell to this), so obviously I would love these.
I have other Logitech items, too, like a G11 keyboard, LX-7 mouse for my dad, and a G5 mouse for the gamer me.
I love every aspect of these speakers. They have great volume, clarity, they fit in perfectly, and are the perfect size for my desk. Although I'm currently using them on a square desk (not getting full surround effect), I do have plans to get an L-shaped desk so they can be literal surround sound. I love the fact the center speaker sits on top of my LCD monitor (just barely, if I tilt the screen, it falls right off). The speakers are sitting in my room, and if I turn them up just over half-way, I can hear it outside on the other side of the house. They have enough power to impress people & to sound awesome, but are not overpowering.
Cons: Really, the only cons I can think of are that I think the front & rear speakers could be a little more powerful (maybe 10-15 watts per speaker instead of 7?), and they tend to have a bouncy or zig-zag sound output when they are at certain volumes, but just a tap of the volume knob up or down stops it. Absolutely nothing to take away from the awesomeness of these, just some suggestions for Logitech's next replacement of the speakers (X-550 maybe?) Oh, and maybe a blue power & matrix lights, since every other light on my computer (tower, monitor, external hard drive, keyboard, even mouse color) is blue? Just curious...
Other Thoughts: Well, I have used this set on integrated sound on a Dell C521 and 2 Creative SoundBlaster cards: an Audigy and a X-Fi Xtreme Audio. Now I'm thinking I should eventually get an X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty sound card to get the full experience. Can't wait to put the speakers in the best conditions of full surround & one of the best sound cards!

Piece of Junk
Pros: Compact speaker system, audio driver recognized it and set it up... almost plug and play.
Cons: Sub-woofer started cracking and hissing within the first week. Assume the sub-woofer is blown. Not a gamer, so volume was not excessive... use speaker system for music collection and movies. Wouldn't have another if you gave it to me.
Other Thoughts: Had an Altec-Lansing 5.1 system with a third the wattage that lasted 6 years before amplification started to go... would have purchased another, but A-L no longer makes a 5.1 system. Hoping this audio systems would give a few years pleasure... NOT!

Open Box item
Pros: Great looking setup, quality seems good once everything is up and running. Matrix adds some nice effects.
Cons: Rear speakers are hard to hear at times, although this is just the nature of 5.1 surround. Matrix helps this a bit. The issue can also be resolved by getting a splitter, and simply plugging both rear and front speakers into the same jack.
Other Thoughts: For an open box item (which I took a bit of a risk on), this was a very good purchase and upgrade from what I had previously. While it is still early, I can tell I was lucky in that everything looks and sounds new.
There were some minor issues setting this up also, hence the loss of an egg (more like half an egg). If you are barely hearing audio from the rear speakers, make sure to check your configuration on the computer and check "Speaker Fill."

Logitech X-540 70 watts 5.1 Speakers
Pros: Great sound!! Great system for the price!! Takes gaming to a whole new level!! I had to look behind me a couple of times because I heard footsteps but then I realized it was my military squad stacking up behind me about to breach a door lol!! I've turned this system up full blast and there was no distortion, and this is when explosions are happening, gun fire and everything!!!!Excellent bass!! Matrix mode is great!! Thoroughly happy with this purchase!!!
Cons: None to report at this time
Other Thoughts: Buy these!!! They are awesome!!!

Fantastic
Pros: Cheap but fantastic sound quality. I turned my bedroom into a surround sound place for viewing movies and jamming to music. I can hear all kinds of crisp backround noises in movies and songs that I never knew were there.
Cons: Rear Cords are short. Had to spend another $10-15 buying RCA extenders.
Other Thoughts: Wish it had a remote because I watch in bed a lot, but no product is exactly what anyone needs. Overall i love it still

Awsome
Pros: These are amazing speakers, simply amazing. When I first bought these things about 2 1/2 years ago I was unsure of the brand "logitech". But now I am. I have a 1700 sq ft. home and if you turn the volume between 1/2 and 3/4 you will hear them anywhere in the house, includeing basement and attic. The quality of sound is very nice, Home theatre quality, but for much cheaper. I believe I bought these for $114 at newegg, while seeing them at B*stBuy for ~150. Also having these for 2.5 years says something for the quality, especialy since i listen to my music and games LOUD, and treat my stuff rough.
Cons: Indeed, like everyone has said, the cables are short. Too short to even put around an office cubie (not that you would want to). I had some extra cords and externdors, after all, each speaker wire is just one of those yellow-red-white cords.
Other Thoughts: During some games with a lot of talking, you MUST turn off the "matrix mode" (enables from 2.1 to 5.1) to hear the voices. the background music just fulls into the other 3 speakers and then the music volume is too high etc. BUY THESE SPEAKERS, THEY'RE GREAT!

Awesome!
Pros: -Nice sounds quality -Great value for a 5.1 system -Nice features in the software to accommodate your room and preferences
Cons: I wish the speaker cables were longer, particularly the rears. Although they are probably about 12' or 15'.

Excellent low power speakers
Pros: Excellent speakers for the price. Great sound up to 50-55% of maximum volume. Expect to do some tweaking in your sound card control panel to get it just right. Great for a small room. The 'remote' is a good idea, and works well right next to the keyboard.
Cons: When the volume is turned much past 50%, they don't sound very good.
Other Thoughts: If using the sub-woofer on a solid surface, add rubber or felt feet. Otherwise it vibrates and sounds horrible. I'm not sure why the sub comes with hard plastic feet. Also, the remote is hard-wired into the sub-woofer. It can't be disconnected to route wires through tight places.

Pros: long enough cords to go where you need to go. great sound. nice look to them. the control cord works great and can reach.
Cons: bass has no protection to it under it where the speaker actually is. if anything where to be under it when set down and not noticed it would be ruined.

tricky little fella
Pros: great sound, great quality, great everything. You can either listen with or without matrix mode. awesome sound control with the little knobs. good length of wires for my use for all speakers (back speakers have about a 10-12ft cord length)
Cons: I looked at the set-up and saw that there was a 3-way split for the speakers (front, sub-woofer, rear). Some customers were complaining about how some speakers wouldn't work and how it was disappointing. DONT LISTEN TO THEM. easy fix... go to radio shak or something and get a 3-way headphone jack split (with 3 female ends, one male end) and it works perfectly (appx $7-$8)
apart from the SLIGHT inconvenience, speakers are flawless. Luckily I had one of these wires from my previous set-up. Maybe there's a way to make em all work without it and only having one output jack in sound source (ie computer) but I didn't bother figuring it out or looking in the manual
Other Thoughts: I always read new-egg shipping was so fast... it really was. I ordered it one night and it was at my house the next night before 6:30pm.
This was my first purchase and now I'm excited to get more money to use on newegg stuff.
NEWEGG IS AWESOME

Great budget speaker system!
Pros: This speaker system gives great sound. You can play games and watch movies at a good volume level with no distortion. I am impressed with the clarity of the system and the subwoofer does pretty good for this price level.
Cons: Lacks midrange, cords for the rear speakers are too short (can be extended with knowledge of wiring). Speakers are kind of ugly.
Other Thoughts: For this price range (economy) you can not beat this 5.1 system. I have owned mine for 8 months and most likely will own it at least 8 more. Makes a great sound system for a computer in a bedroom.

WORTH THE MONEY
Pros: ~ Great quality sound. ~ The bass is great for a home system. It's good enough to annoy my neighbors. (Coming from someone who spent $1500 on their car subwoofers) ~ Cheap! These bad boys beat my sister's $200 set.
Cons: ~ Tons of wires. I've yet to figure out how to manage them all. At the moment everything is bunched up behind my desk.
Other Thoughts: These will satisfy me until I can afford a several hundred $ home sound system.
Tip: Turning the Matrix off will re-wire the center speaker's sound to the Subwoofer, making the bass louder. Matrix on for rock, off for hip-hop.

Fantastic
Pros: These speakers are beautiful. Great sound, easy to use, and loud enough to get your mom mad. For what you pay...you can't beat it. Perfect for college dorms, apartments, or if you have a tiny bedroom (like me) they're the perfect size. I can't complain at all about them. The subwoofer is great!! Even though it'sonly 25 watts, the sound is fantastic and the bass is deep.
Cons: The only thing I can think of is the low wattage. The Subwoofer is only 25 watts, but like I said....you get what you pay for.
Other Thoughts: If you need speakers but don't have a lot of money...pick these up!!! You won't regret it. These speakers aren't meant for you to crank the bass on your equalizer. If you are just going to use them for gaming, music, and movies...they are perfect.

Distored
Pros: It didn't catch fire.
Cons: It produced this weird smell when it came on then it overheated, started humming, and then died. Probably just a bad unit. I'm sure others are fine. I think the quality that Logitech has been putting out has been declining though.

Took Me to a Better Place
Pros: For the Price of these speakers I am MORE then pleased with with their performance. I'm a college student and have all five speakers and woofer under my loft and it has turned the underside of my loft into my personal audio sanctuary. The bass and total volume are very impressive and loud enough to get me in trouble with the RA who lives at the opposite side of the Building :) Crysis and Battle Field 2 were whole new experiences with the new system. As for movies I christened the new system by watching Black Hawk Down in 1080P......took me away to a better place. Overall very happy with the system.
Cons: The cords for the rear satellite speakers are not very long and took some manipulation to fit the way I wanted in my desired setup. Also the "matrix" feature only really makes a difference about 50% of the time. Overall you are better manipulating your computer/tv audio setup then relying on the systems built in features.
Other Thoughts: Money was well worth the upgrade. And as always newegg shipped it super fast, as always!

Pros: 5.1 Center can be mounted to the top of an LCD monitor or set on the desk volume control sits wherever you want it
Cons: Inconsistant sound level at certain levels Not as powerful at my 2.1 system (given, it is 45 watts into 3 speakers, and this is 70 into 6)
Other Thoughts: A decent 5.1 system for the computer. If i wanted more power, I would have spent more money (that I don't have) on the Z-5500

Pros: Awesome powerful bass for the price, sound is really nice as well. I hooked these up the second I got them, and it shakes my dorm, and as far as 3 dorms down the hall. Definitely nice for this cheap of a price.
Cons: Some of the cables are a little short, but it's not a big issue.
Other Thoughts: Definitely beats my old $30 system I had.

Excellent buy !
Pros: This speaker system is the best. Its sturdy and the sound is great. It is currently hooked up to my PS3 and when i play COD4 i would annoy my cousin in the room right by mine. I love it!!
Cons: Bought it when it first came out, so the price i payed was obviously higher.
Other Thoughts: Buy it! Logitech Rocks and apparently this speaker system will rock your socks off..haha! :)

Good speakers
Pros: The speakers sound great. They are analog speakers so they are easy to set up. The remote allows you to turn down the bass and volume for all 5 speakers right from your desktop.
Cons: Wires for back speakers could be longer.
Other Thoughts: Nice speakers at a nice price.

Amazing Speakers
Pros: Have had these speakers since Christmas of '08. Love these things..... They have amazing sound quality and arent flashy or shiney..... They fit in perfectly with a black-rimmed monitor without all the flashyness of some other speakers. I listen to all my music on these all the time and they are DECENT in games but you'd have to turn them REALLY loud in order to fully hear footsteps or something.
Cons: None at all. Back cables are short but nothing 10 dollar best buy 25-foot-rca-extension cables cant fix lol. Seriously.... Nothing fancy about the cables from best buy. Straight foward and work and are clear. 8-10 bucks for a 25 foot cable.... Cant go wront
Other Thoughts: Overall great speakers and I'd definitely buy more of these.

Excellent.
Pros: These are great for music, movies, and even games that do not require pinpoint precision (fps-they work but headphones are always going to be better)
Cons: The back speakers cables really are not long enough. I bought some RCA turnarounds and extension cables which solved that problem easily.
Other Thoughts: I've had these speakers for almost 3 years now and have had absolutely no sound issues with them at all, and I really crank it up a lot.

Awesome Sound For The Buck
Pros: Sounds awesome with a sound card. Some said it has a sweet spot and i think it has to do with using there on board sound card. i had that prob and got a cheap card for $45 and theres no limit to them now sounds great 3/4 of the way and sounds maxed all the way up but much clearer .
Cons: None I've loved them. Even more after my sound card.
Other Thoughts: I got these for 120 or more over a year ago and now there much more of a deal. If your iffy about getting these so cheap get a sound card cause im betting youll have the same prob with any 5.1 set you get. It'll be worth the extra . I slam them at least once a day with music and they love it. =)

Good Value 5.1
Pros: Easy to install, all wires included, good quality, not cheap looking, innovative stand on each speaker is also a wall mount (except center channel). Matrix feature to accept stereo input (audio out or headphone jack) works well to deliver sound to all speakers. When connected to normal audio, like a CD, it clones left and right channels to the center and rear; but, when I played a DVD on the computer, the encoding actually separated the full 5.1 !!! Impressive
Cons: A bit weak on the low frequency notes; the 4" driver in the sub-woofer barks like a little dog. Volume is very weak until turned up about 30%, then it gets loud by 50% and my ear begins to hear distortion around 60-65% power (please note that I am sensitive to the first signs of clipping that damages speakers).
Other Thoughts: For the NewEgg price, this is a great value. I prefer the sound of Harman/Kardon speakers that were thrown in with my Dell a few years ago (darn nice speakers); but, for inexpensive and acceptable 5.1, this is it.

Pros: very clear sound and has nice thump from the sub. worth the money.
Cons: i just paid $100 for these at best buy without looking on here first :(
Other Thoughts: buy them but make sure you have the right plugs

Pros: It comes with five speakers and a sub for a good price.
Cons: One of my five speakers does not work at all.
Other Thoughts: I am a little upset that one of my speakers does not work, resulting in my giving a low ranking. Other wise it is probably not that bad.

An Overall Worthwhile Investment
Pros: They look good, and the cables for the rear speakers are long enough for my preferred placement. Also like the controller (being able to control satellite AND subwoofer volume at my fingertips is great) and the headphone jack on it is a plus (one reason I bought it). Just powerful enough to handle what I intend to throw at them.
Cons: Not as much headroom as I would have liked. I have to turn both satellite and subwoofer volume up to about half to meet my minimum listening level. It can be (but maybe not always) a bit of a challenge to get the right dynamic range.
Other Thoughts: If you have one available, use the equalizer on your computer to get a good balance, then use the speaker controls for overall volume. Otherwise you might have a little trouble striking a balance between muddiness and clarity (too much subwoofer versus not enough). That's my experience; your mileage may vary.

Very Good Desktop Speakers
Pros: Very good speakers at a reasonable price. Have very good sound quality. Nice looking and solid construction.
Cons: Loud enough for me, but not super loud. Spend more if you want really high output and hearing loss.

All Around Great Speakers
Pros: I use these speakers for Gaming/High Def Movies on the PC. These sound Very good.
I purchased these about 2 years ago and they still sound the same as the day i first took them out of the box and fired them up.
They are also around the same price as when i bought them so the value is great. Also, The speakers have some weight to it. Meaning, That they don't feel cheaply made and most likely have decent magnets on them for better power handling.
Cons: The only con i have is that i wish the rear speaker wires were just alittle longer (Maybe 5 more feet)?
And maybe a Bigger Sub for deeper bass :) But that's just me being picky. The sub on it right now still sounds very nice and clean.
Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a nice set of 5.1 speakers for under $100. I would very highly recommend these!!! The only PITA on these are hiding all the wires (If you like things nice and neat) but other than that, A very good buy.....

Decent
Pros: Sound is great and everything works with the corded controller. The sub is awsome when playing games with grenades and other stuff it shakes the floor makes u feel as if u were there.
Cons: The center jack on the sub has a very bad problem with mine to where when u plug any speaker in it, it makes it crackle and sound as if the speaker that is plugged in is blown but it will do it for only the one of the 5 that are plugged into it. So i am out a center speaker kinda of bad because i didnt get a sound card until a month later.

Best speakers ever
Pros: These speakers are easy to install and easy to use. The sound quality is fantastic and the max volume is rediculous. Honestly if you need good, loud, high quality speakers with a bass that bumps these are the speakers for you.
Cons: absolutely nothing.
Other Thoughts: Get these.

Pros: 5.1 for cheap.
Taking into account the price (and this you must do), you couldn't ask for better sound quality.
No, its not perfect sound, and if you're sporting an entire collection of FLAC audio files and own $200 earbuds to listen to them, these speakers will not live up to what you want. BUT, if you arent interested in spending $300, $500, $1000 on speakers or a home stereo for pristine quality, these work just fine.
Cons: Matrix Mode sounds terrible, use your sound driver's speaker fill mode or something to get all the speakers to run while playing something with 2 or 3 channels.
The base swivel thing doesn't quite snap perfectly into upright position, not quite flush, but no one will notice.
Try not to think of the remote as an actual remote and you won't be disappointed with that aspect.
Other Thoughts: First pair of Logitech speakers I've ever owned, but I've never been disappointed with anything else of theirs I've owned; mice, keyboards, etc. Not once.

Cons: One less egg because i had to spend another 30 bucks to make the cords longer, they are really short lol :(

WOW
Pros: Incredible sound for under $100...these rival the sound system in my car. Clean, crisp, house shaking bass. I'm extremely impressed.
Cons: My ear drums are bleeding?
Other Thoughts: I am using an EVGA 790i motherboard with onboard sound. The realtek HD audio manager that came with it allows me to tell it how far each speaker is away from me and adjust the volume of each one independently which is nice for adjusting sound to be even better. "Matrix Mode" sounded bad for me, but the "Speaker fill" option in the Realtek HD Audio manager makes stereo music into surround sound really really well, so it wasn't a problem for me.

Pros: Great speakers. Very nice sound. The volume control is a nice touch. I've yet to run into the crackling issue that other reviews have mentioned.
Cons: Adds a lot of extra wire behind my desk, but that is nothing a few twisty-ties can't handle.
Other Thoughts: Wish the back speakers were wireless.

Very nice speakers
Pros: Very nice sound quality, especially for the price. This is the first time I have experienced surround sound, and I am very pleased with it.
Cons: Being a nincompoop, I assumed that like the other speakers I have owned, I would simply plug the speakers into my headphone jack. However, to have true surround sound, you need to have a sound card with 6 channels (and three jacks). I had only one jack. The manual suggests that I plug in only the jack corresponding to the front two speakers, thus wasting the other four speakers/ sub woofer. I fixed this by buying and audio splitter and than plugging all three jacks into that. I think an audio splitter should have come with it instead of the useless attachment they included. I just wanted to give a heads up for those without a six channel sound card.

x-540
Pros: Really good sounding set, bass sounds a little chopped at higher volume (however unless you plan on throwing any house parties, moderate volume is more than enough to pump music throughout your house)
Cons: Though the speaker boxes themselves were a little smaller, but then again they probably would not be able to produce the same clarity if they were.
Other Thoughts: Overall a very good buy, would recommend to a friend.

x5-40
Pros: This is a good sound system for a PC i have ever had. Sub and surround sounds AMAZING. They look good and in the time of night. Cant even see it for focus on games.
Cons: Just to much wire for me, there front right speaker can not adjust the sub to you have to get on the floor to adjust it.
Other Thoughts: Just use your cards software to adjust the speaker length from you adn them. Ussualy about 3 to 5 feet is mine.

Excellent budget surround in a box
Pros: I actually have the X-530s. These are basically a slightly higher-powered revision. Let me tell you Logitech makes great speakers. These sound amazing with my Creative Audigy 2 sound card. Crisp highs, throaty lows and superb mid-range blending. Movies and games are a real treat in full 5.1 surround. Not to mention music in stereo surround. I am an audiophile with sensitive ears and these pass all of my tests with flying colors. Proper EQ settings make these things sing! Don't forget that these also have reversible stands for wall hanging.
Cons: Big heavy cords hanging from the front right make these a bit awkward to hang from the wall but once you get them set up it works fine. Also the cord for the front left is a bit short but it was fine once everything was in place. Also there is a slight sibilance hiss with certain music but nothing that can't be tuned out with proper EQ.
Other Thoughts: These speakers have plenty of volume but still aren't very loud. If you want a party system these might be a bit lacking. But for a personal surround setup for gaming and music on the cheap these rock.

WOW
Pros: I guess when you need a speaker system this is the best price/performance ratio you can get, and i didnt buy this from newegg but it is incredible the sound you can get out of this.
Cons: i guess it depends on wheather you had an audio system before or not but ive never had a decent one... this would be my first
Other Thoughts: if youre buying this to get the best audio system available, dont. but if you are getting it to get a good system for the price, this is the one.

Hard to beat for the Money
Pros: I own an older version of this product. The drivers and amplifiers are all the same but the appearance is slightly different than the current styling. I must say that You can't get a better 5.1 setup for this price, or even close to it. It's sufficient for casual gaming, movies, music, etc. The quality is great, The distortion at low and medium levels is non-existent, and at higher volumes it's tolerable, especially if you have your crossover settings correct.
Cons: Not that loud. Lacking on strong low end frequency response (hey it's a 5 1/4" driver with 25 watts, what do you want?) If you want some serious volume or thunderous bass, you're going to have to spend some real money
Other Thoughts: Sub-woofer positive terminal rattled lose after two years of use. was easy to fix.

runnin strong for almost 2yrs
Pros: Had these for almost two years (year and 9 months). No problems from them in anyway, and they've been through some $***. Great sound, good base. Sturdy speakers, cant count how many times they've been knocked over.
Cons: Seriously trying to think of a con and I cant..unless your expecting sound quality equal to 300$+, you are not going to be disapointed in anyway. I was definitely impressed with the sound quality for the price. Oh, and the matrix mode. Alot of reviews brag on it..but I just see that it drops the quality when being used. Yes, it makes apps that dont play on all 5 speakers play on them..but it just seems to drop some quality when doing so. Not a major con though..its just an extra perk the speakers come with.
Other Thoughts: I have the rear speakers mounted on speaker stands..Can't tell you how many times i've knocked them over. No damage caused to the speakers though. They don't pick up scratches/marks easy at all. Have the bass at ~40% most of the time and it gives plenty. Sound at ~40% also. Blared them a couple times at some get togethers...had the bass and volume 90%+ for itleast 3.5-4 hours and it didnt do any damage to the quality or performance of the speakers. Verrrrryyyyy pleased with them. Paired with a sound blaster audigy sound card. Did see improvement over my onboard sound (Ga-P35). Good buy! Love them! Sorry for the rambling :p

Pros: Size - not big and not to small. Connections - Cords could be longer, I am in a tight space so it was no big deal. Sound - For the price, great. Speaker Mounting - Swivel bases to go from desk to wall was neat.
Cons: Cords could be longer, but that's the only con.
Other Thoughts: It is not a high end system, so don't expect the next wonder of the audio world. For the price this 5.1 system is just fine. The power/volume/bass/headphone pod on wire was weird at first, but I like it now. As others have said, leave the bass boost 12'oclock, and don't crank on the volume it or it will distort.

Great Set for the Price!
Pros: Sound great. Unclouded highs, deep lows, fair middles. The speakers have a great feel to them and they mounted easily around my desk.
Those saying the speakers don't work on youtube videos without the Matrix on, they need to learn a thing or two about how speakers work. If you have them configured wrong, emulating a 5.1 sound system will mess it up.
Cons: The control device's bass knob came broke. It stays all the way up, or all the way off. I kept it because it didn't seem worth it to ship if as I was still happy with the sound. Also, seems to be an isolated incident so don't worry about it.
Other Thoughts: If you're even debating getting these, just do it. They're awesome.
They are only getting a 4 egg because of the bass knob.

Awesome speakers !
Pros: - Very good sound quality - 5.1 surround sound - Good bass, nothing extremely powerful, but still pumping
Cons: - I didn't got mine from Newegg
Other Thoughts: Great set of speakers if you don't want to go buy the G51 or Z5500. Make sure you have enough room enough you to put all five where they belong.

Can't beat it for the price
Pros: Easy install, easy hookup to desktop, great sound, adjustable bass and matrix. Great price
Cons: No remote is a pain. Use audio cables instead of speaker wire so not ideal for great lengths, or large rooms.
Other Thoughts: I haven't used this in a large room yet and I don't typically listen to boombastic music. I'm a classic rock/indie guy and I watch TV and movies on my computer but this system is great for that. Once again, especially for the price. It seems I'm only sacrificing the remote.

Good and very good for the price
Pros: The sound really is high quality. You don't have to worry about any "humming" noises when the speakers are on, but there is no signal. The highs are very crisp and any mids that come through sound great and pronounced, without overpowering other areas of the sound range.
Cons: This set definitely has its own optimal range. After leaving that range, distortion becomes very apparent. Bass also has a slightly muffled sound, as if the woofer is made for mid's, but is being forced into the lower ranges at times.
Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a great 5.1 set for movies and video games at a wonderful deal, look no further! If you are looking for a sound cranking, bass pumping machine, do.

These things are near-flawless.
Pros: - Price (I was expecting three digits for good 5.1 speakers) - Unbelievable sound quality (see other thoughts for sound card info) - Easy wall mount setup - Speaker wiring is isolated (see other thoughts) - The volume remote puzzle-pieces with my Saitek Eclipse keyboard, which is a REALLY cool coincidence.
These speakers are a must-have for anyone seeking a 5.1 upgrade on a budget. They have made listening to music better. They have made watching movies better. They make gaming better, especially shooters - being able to hear the sound of someone sneaking up behind you from the appropriate orientation is very advantageous. Unwrapping these were the highlight of Christmas morning, and I don't think I'll ever need another set of speakers.
Cons: - The center channel LCD monitor "clip" is nice, but not entirely stable. If I happen to bump my desk hard enough (or get aggravated and punch my Acer AL2223W directly), the speaker WILL flop over the screen.
- The volume remote is permanently fixed to the sub woofer, which is a slight nuisance.
** Side note: I know I should mention this as a pro on the page for the appropriate product, but neither my fist nor the center speaker has damaged that monitor (yet). Its resilience surprises me.
Other Thoughts: - I use a SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme PCI-E. Since that card has it's own function to upmix stereo sound to 5.1, I don't use the matrix feature. Between the sound card and the speakers, everything sounds gorgeous.
- The fact that the speakers plug separately into the sub woofer and that the sub-to-computer cabling is isolated makes my setup options easier. It turns out these 5.1's make a great set of 2.1's, so I can bring just my front satellites with me when I leave for school this fall and leave the rest of the hardware in place at home.
- I'm contemplating an additional pair of Logitech 2.0 speakers to complete a 7.1 set, but I think it's a bit overkill.

Great speakers!
Pros: This is a great speaker set. Although I'm not an "audiophile", I can still say that I DO have an appreciation for great video and audio quality. The system has lengthy and well built cables with the option for wall mounting. For the 2 rear speakers, the cables are pretty long, but if you want these for a larger sized media room, you'd better look for some extension cables. The little remote control thing is great, on and off/matrix buttons are great, volume control is great. Nothing to complain about.
Cons: None at all, this is well worth the 79 bucks.
Other Thoughts: Like I said, if you want this for a larger than medium sized media room or something, look for extension cables.

Wow
Pros: These are great speakers! Nice sound out of them...i keep the matrix button on all the time, just a much better sound. Bass is small, but delivers a booming pulse. I use these on both my gaming rig and media center computers and they deliver in every aspect.
Cons: The front left and right cords are extremely short. If they made them even a foot longer it would provide more possibilities for placement. Also the center speaker is impossible to place on top of a computer screen. If you see customer pictures of this happening, they had to have taped/glued it into place. Also if your using a separate program to control your sound (like on Asus Mobos you have HD Audio Program), then your going to have trouble getting the full sound out of these. Make sure you go into control panel and set your speakers to 5.1 surround sound and try to disable your separate program (if you can). Still sounds great if your program recognizes them as 2.1 though.
Other Thoughts: Other than the short wires and problems with the setup of 5.1 on the computer, these speakers deliver! EXCELLENT for gaming AND music. Gave these a 5 cause there wasnt a 4.5. And for all you WoW fans out there, these will make your experience all the better!

Pros: the speakers sound amazing, and the bass is pounding
Cons: cables were a bit weird to deal with

Descent Speakers for the price
Pros: I replaced a broken 7.1 90 watt Creative system with these. They are descent speakers for the price. I love the power control and volumn control.
Cons: they're matrix button don't seem to work as well as the instructions. Pretty quite for 70 watts speakers.
Other Thoughts: For the money a great deal if your a gamer on a budget but if your doing music or sound work I would go with a better quality speaker set

Pros: Great sound. Easy setup.
Cons: They made me put something here, but there are no cons.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace my 2.1 set that had died. The sound quality is great. I have been very happy with these speakers.

This is my first review ever written
Pros: First of all, i can honestly say this is the best set of speakers I have ever purchased for this price. I have the older model of these speakers and my friend just recently purchased this new model and we compared. Mine actually beat his in quality! Anyways i have owned them for over 4 years now and they are AMAZING!!! Peaks mids and lows are great! absolutely worth the money if your not looking to pay 300 for the Z-5500's that I am going to purchase soon. Logitech is great never doubt that!
Cons: Can't play them very loud because mom and sister complain

A decent upgrade
Pros: Price. I picked these up for 80USD, and I have no regrets.
The Bass is nice
Cons: Satellite speaker wires are a bit short, but it keeps the clutter out of my setup. (It's a very small space, so anywhere else it would be a problem. Just keep it in mind.) Not the best sound ever.
Other Thoughts: I was looking for something to upgrade my gaming computer with, as of 3 days ago, it did not have speakers, and I was forced to use headphones. If you are upgrading from anything that does not have a subwoofer, this is quite a good choice for your dollar.

Excellent
Pros: Crisp, Cheap, Great Base. I can be downstairs in my living room, and have these things blasting at 70% volume, and not hear darn thing. I go into my room and it's incredibly loud and crisp. I don't know if its an intended feature but I love how it doesn't bother neighbors or my family. 5.1 for 88.99USD, what more could you ask for. The speakers look great, and I honestly see no reason to get Logitech's other 5.1 systems that cost over 300USD when you can just get these and save money on more important parts.
Cons: I can't think of ANYTHING.

Not so good in comparison
Pros: 5.1 sound, good sound in low volumes, nice audio cable adapter, control pad, not as expensive as other similar models.
Cons: volume only enough for a small room, at high volumes it distorts and bass sounds bad. I have altec lansing atp3 which costs similar except 2.1 and is world better in sound volume, quality, clarity and bass response.
Other Thoughts: May be this is designed for a small study room and is okay for that purpose.

WOW!
Pros: This set of speakers are awesome! Was setting and watching a movie last night and wind from the vent port on the bass speaker was blowing the hairs on my arm. Sound quality is awesome.
Cons: Wish the volume for the headphones were louder. Not really a con.
Other Thoughts: Make sure you have an appropriate sound card to enjoy the full range of sounds.

Great Sound
Pros: I am not really an audiophile, but these speakers are great, they worked right out of the box, and although I never owned a set of sorround sound speakers, It took me a little while to setup. Through my realtek sound options, it gives me different sound option for whatever music I listen to, and these adjust to that perfectly. Good crisp clean sound, I love these speakers! And I love matrix mode.
Cons: They don't get to loud, but the sound pierces your ears, so they do get loud but not really?
Bass doesn't shake the house, but I live in a dorm anyway so not a problem for me.
Couldn't get the center speaker to clip onto the top of my monitor. They should fix the design on that.
Manual isn't that informative at all, but if your techy then you should be able to figure it out very quickly.
Other Thoughts: Wish it had more resistance on the volumne controller.

Great sound
Pros: Very easy to set up, all the cords are color coded. The Rear speakers had really long cables, so I was able to get the rear speakers easily behind me. The sound is superb, and does just fine hooked hooked up to my onboard sound driver. The control is really handy, no more going back to the desktop from Apps for volume adjustments.
Cons: The bass speaker is uncovered on the bottom of the amp so if you set it on something, you might just loose the speaker, not enough to loose an egg but a consideration.
Other Thoughts: My onboard sound is 7.1 but plays just fine on this 5.1 speaker system.

Great product!!
Pros: Sound, price, ability to adjust without computer
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I originally ordered Logitech speakers for the living room and husband swiped that pair for his IPOD. Ordered these to replace them. Logitech hasn't made a product that I don't like and all of them are working well even after years of service. They should cost more than they do but we won't tell the company that.
