Love it for home use.
Pros: Fast. Small desktop foot print. You can scan aloot of stuff then sort it later. The included adobe software lets you merge .pdf files into one.
Cons: Unit sometimes get confused if you use multiple paper sizes in a stack.
The "fill mark" indicates you should only put in 3/8 stack or less. Will not feed correctly if over filled.
Other Thoughts: Great for home. Bills and such.
Buy something else if you want to scan thick contracts or medical charts.

Caution: Proprietary Driver
Pros: Nice small package.
Cons: BEWARE - NOT TWAIN COMPLIANT. It only works with software that comes with it. You cannot use it with any other Twain compliant programs like Photoshop, CorelDraw, or even Quickbooks which what we bought it for.
Other Thoughts: We returned it for the Epson GT S-50. Better specs and 100% Twain compliant. Much better support website.

Fujitsu S510 Scanner - NICE!
Pros: Very Compact Easy to use - once installed Comes with a good software package Fast!
Cons: Driver installation was a pain. I blame this on a bad CD that could not be read by any of my computers. I had to download a copy of the installation disc from the internet. Fujitsu does NOT offer a direct download of their software without contacting them first. They only offer upgrades for direct download from their website. This made the install process a little longer than usual.
Other Thoughts: I purchased this computer to get rid of unwanted paper files and reports. After just 2 days of use, I'm well on my way of clearing out my filing cabinet. This scanner is a must have for anyone looking for a simple, fast, and accurate way of organizing files electronically. I would highly recommend this scanner!

Great little scanner with a big heart
Pros: NO WARMUP TIME!!! That saves oodles of time right there, with other scanners, you usually have to wait 20 seconds just to scan one sheet. This little baby just sucks through the pages as fast as it can. It averages about 15 pages in 30 seconds. Only jams if staples, paper clips, paper tears. Robust software that has never crashed or caused one. You can cusomize what software launches with your scans (Adobe Acrobat, Paint, etc.)
Cons: JPG shrinker does not shrink enough. The variable compression just needs to go even smaller for really compact JPGs. Our office has to shrink them down manually so our medical software can "swallow" the JPG's (software problem on our end, too). Kind of quirky interface for the software on customizing the type of file, output, program launch, etc. ("profile Management" vs. "Scan button settings")
Other Thoughts: Probably the best small business scanner on the market for the price. Easy for staff to use, and bullet-proof.

AWESOME !!!
Pros: Easy, convienant, small footprint, easy to send to multiple locations, scannable PDFs, quick easy to install, paying for itself easily with time saved - fast scanning of duplex or single sided and/or color or B/W! OCR, Rac-2 HOLLY MOLLY easy and easy to convert! Buy the deluxe. Able to scan multiple pages under 1 PDF or a PDF for x # of pages!
Cons: NONE. Only had a few paperjams that were the quality of papers fault. Easy to unjam! staple holes, crinkled paper were the issues, just check them if it isn't "new" paper - but really, what scanner NEVER jams once in a while! The number of sheets we've scanned is unbelievable.
Other Thoughts: Connected this scanner with a manual USB 2/4 Port Switch that we switch between 2 PCs. WORKS GREAT! No issues so far.

wonderful scanner
Pros: Fabulous! It paid for itself in two days! I hope to be the first ever paperless teacher!
Absolutely love it! It is also a lot easier than faxing items, keeping documentation for taxes, etc.
Cons: Adobe needed to be installed with a DVD drive which I did not have at the time. (Give me a break, I had a terrible virus on my PC and then replaced my hard drive.
Other Thoughts: It is so compact, lightweight and easy to use. I have jammed it plenty in amongst my staples and hidden paperclips.
It's just nice to finally join the 20th century

Awesome hardware, excellent software
Pros: Running XP, 2.2 GHz, 2 GB ram. USB 2. Note: instructions come with Vista install instructions as well; however, I do not think that Adobe Standard 8 (bundled software) will work on a Vista machine without running virtual xp or other modification. I have not tried networking this little jem yet. This review is for a straight to PC install.
Quick install & setup, unbelievable software suite. Setup and started scanned documents in less than an 45 min! I saved over 8 hrs of typing work in 15 minutes! This scanner is already well into paying itself off. Ubelievably fast scanning in duplex mode and color. OCR doesn't miss a beat. Rack to filer is what I have always wanted to do with my PDF library. Absolutley great.
Cons: Some feed problems, but this is due to folded paper, staple hole binding, three hole punch binding. If you do not try to scan more that 10 pages of non-flat or punched paper it works fine. Virgin paper flys through without any problems.

Awesome
Pros: Scan quality, speed, software.
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: Others have reviewed the scansnap and stated that it is prone to jamming. I found that only if I overloaded the paper tray would I sometimes get it to pull multiple sheets through. I scanned all my notes from college that I still reference from time to time (all looseleaf notebook paper) with no issues - yes, the edges were NOT perfect, but the scansnap handled it fine.
The OCR software is great. The capability to convert directly to word is amazing. Rac-2-filer is invaluable. If you buy this, buy the deluxe version.

Amazing scanner
Pros: Easy to use, scans really fast for a small printer. Amazing and easy software. Small footprint. Reliable
Cons: occasionally jams. Recognizing PDFs (when in make PDFs searchable) takes a long time.
Other Thoughts: Plugged it in, set it up, and I love it. I stopped using every other scanner I had. I'm going to buy another one!

Fast and snappy
Pros: Excellant performance . Scans in under 2 seconds per page and can hold almost 50 pages . I was very impressed with the agility of this product with the small footprint required . This is the way to go if you can live with .PDF files.
Cons: NOT TWAIN compliant . If your app requires a TWAIN scanner go for the Xerox Documate

This machine rocks!!!
Pros: This scanner may well be magic!! At least it does things that border on magic. It is fast fast fast ! I cam scan a 10 page documet and convert it to pdf in less than a minute!!! I expect this scanner will cut my workload down by several hours per day. Also its ability to scan front and back page in one pass is a great help ! Once again , this feature might just be a little magic . This is the best investment I have made since the computer and I highly recommend it to anyone that need to do volumes of scanning at high speed.
Cons: No cons, other than it looks somewhat understated. About the same size of a football , I initially thought , this machine is too little to be what I need. Wow! was I mistaken !! Dynamite does indeed come in a small package.

Runs perfect on WinXP 32bit but not Vista X64
Pros: This is the best scanner if you want duplex scanning for your paperless office. It incredibles pulls pages off my ripped book pages well without double pulling pages. Works well on thin paper. This scanner works well on a 32bit OS like WinXP Pro 32 and Win Vista 32. The Rack2 Filer program is excellent on these OS.
Cons: The driver for this scanner does not support my Win Vista x64 system. But you can get the S300 driver off the internet on cartoonmonkey.com website for this scanner to work in Vista X64 and it will work . However, Rack 2 Filer will not work on X64. Fujistu needs to step it up and make Rack2Filer work on X64 OS.
Other Thoughts: Good for duplex scanning but I still have a flatbed scanner in case.

Love it
Pros: Great fast scanner, 18 ppm is great for this price of a scanner. I am using it in a medical office and its great. If I want to go to a higher end, then the only other scanner I am considering is 60ppm and 13,000 bucks! So far this is ok for chart consolidation, but will need the big one for a total electronic shift over.
Cons: The paper tray only holds 50 sheets, and any more it will jam. But I have had pretty good luck with adding a few more sheets in at a time, and its is a snap to combine the pdf files into one file and delete the scans that are done in batches. Takes about 5 minutes to get a chart and send it to the electonic world in one direction, to the shredder for the paper chart!
Other Thoughts: I got three copies of adobe acrobat standard. I think that was an error, but a nice serendipity.

Pros: good scanner
Cons: this stupid thing jams all the time. i read the reviews and ignored the jamming part. in the first 10 scans that i had all jammed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was so frustrating. if you have more than 15 pages it will jam. i like the software and the speed - if you can get it to scan. buyer beware.

Beware if you are running Window XP Pro x64
Pros: The scanner is user-friendly. It's easy and fast to use and setup. Papers go through pretty smoothly.
Cons: If you use what I use as my operating system -Window XP Pro x64 then you have go through hell to get this to work.
Other Thoughts: Without telling the complete story I will not own another piece of Fujisu product ever again. Their drivers support are absolutely horrible. And I don't even want to get into their customer services. Googled and find out about the Fujisu products and drivers and you will find enough information to make you think twice about getting their products again.
Note: I only got mine to work only by googling. And just so happened that there are enough people out there that are willing to share their "workable" drivers on the web. And to find out that these people went through similar horrible experiences as I did.

Go Ahead...But this one!
Pros: It's fast! Load your papers to be scanned, hit the big green scan button, and your paper zips through. I easily scanned store receipts too. Love the software! You can scan docs, put them in a binder, label the binder, and put the binder on a library shelf (in your Rack2 Filer software). Take the binder off the shelf, flip thru the binder, add to the binder, etc. Absolutley love it!
Cons: I haven't found any yet.
Other Thoughts: Very limited experience with scanners. If I can do it, anyone can.

The little scanner that keeps on scanning
Pros: Quite small for a feeder, about the size of a regular office style desk phone. Very fast at lowest setting, still legible; double sided scanning; easy software that makes the scanning process and what you want to do with the scan painless and quite simple.
Cons: No Twain support, but I knew that and don't need it. I still feel that's the one feature that would make this a 5 star scanner. Sometimes the scanner needs a good 30-45 sec to "warm" up. In an office environment that can be too long. Every once in a while sheets will not feed separately for no apparent reason (fresh prints, not dirty, not bent).
Other Thoughts: I use it every day to send office documents by e-mail. This is an absolute monster for that kind of purpose or for digital paper filing. I told my counterpart at our other office about it and had to order him one the next day.

Document Organization Made Easy
Pros: Scans front and back of pages simultaneously. Quickly scans multi-page B&W and color documents. A document carrier is available for odd size or damaged documents. Included ocr software (ABBYY) is accurate and fast. It will delete blank pages if desired. Also included is Adobe Acrobat V8 standard. The scanner package with Abbyy ocr, Acrobat, and Rack2-Filer software makes it a snap to convert paper documents to searchable pdf documents and organize them into searchable binders.
Cons: Not many & none serious. The Rack2-Filer software documentation lacks detail. Experimentation and visits to the software website may be needed to figure out how some of the features are used. Business card scanning is best done with a business card scanner. Scanner is not TWAIN compliant, uses its own drivers. Scanner probably will not be recognized by non-Fujitsu software. This is not necessarily a con but it is something to be aware of.
Other Thoughts: When I purchased this unit, about 6 mos. ago, the Rack2-Filer software was an extra cost item. I paid $180.00 more than the current advertised price for this package. This package is a great value. This unit sits on my desk next to the keyboard always ready for the next document. The ScanSnap S510 is compact (see dims & weight in specs) but I do not consider it to be portable. Unit designed for documents. Photo scanning best handled by a dedicated image scanner. After evaluating a number of scanners & packages and comparing to the Fujitsu ScanSnap S510, this is the package I would select today.
