Good investment
Pros: Plenty of power. We had a big storm in the area the day after I set this up. This unit kept my computer and monitor running smoothly through the electrical surges. I think it's the best investment I've made.
Cons: none I can think of at the moement

Satisfied
Pros: Works to the extent I need it... a lot of outlets, so far they've worked really well for me.
Cons: The beeping... I don't think there's any way to turn off the beeping when the power goes out. I don't need them to tell me the power is out, it's usually pretty obvious. With five units in the house, it's pretty overwhelming when the power goes off.
Other Thoughts: I bought three of these last year after a 5 minute electrical storm fried my Tivo. I recently bought two more for a total of 5, and have a total of four desktops, one laptop, two Tivos, two TVs, three printers, and some networking equipment all protected, and most of it UPS-ed. Usually we get power "blips," those 5 second deals that just screw everything up... everything keeps running smoothly. If the power stays off for more than a few minutes, we'll turn things off to keep things like the Tivos and networking equipment running for hours.

Outstanding
Pros: I have had this unit for two years. It was shipped in a box that was damaged, but the unit and the battery have worked perfectly 24x7x365 providing power to three simple home file servers and 1 21" CRT. With four devices using power it provides about 10-15 minutes of uptime. The non-battery backup ports also provide clean power to other electronics.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Not sure how long the battery will last. Over 2 years of continuous use on the original battery.

Works well
Pros: Very compact unit with all the outputs I neede and then some. It has worked flawlessly since 1st plug-in. Does excellent job of keeping voltage maintained to my own set level. Buy this - its all you need for voltage regulation - to eliminate brown-outs of your system.
Cons: None

Plenty of power, VERY reliable.
Pros: Supplies plenty of power to all my speakers, twin monitors, xps tower and several other large accessors. Plenty of battery backup inputs AND the off-to-the-side inputs for transformers (so they don't take up multiple inputs)
Cons: My dad's gave out several months ago during a strong lightening storm, but it took all of the damage and didn't cause any damage to the computer or accessories, so it works (but it didn't last through the storm like we expected it to).
Other Thoughts: Excellent backup. We had power surges and dropouts every 10 minutes for 2 days last week and it held up great. My computer never shut down and no harm was done either to my computer or to the backup. Highly recommended especially for the low price!

Small UPS but capable
Pros: Not a great big UPS, but I just wanted a little time to shut down if needed and ride through line disturbances.
Cons: APC is very quiet on what size the battery is. The want to sell the next one for above going cost. No problem, just measure the size and order from your local distributor.

Good protection - OK Vista Software
Pros: Lots of volts. Quick, responsive backup/monitoring. One side provides battery backup/protection while the other side just protection only. High speed internet and cable protection, too.
Cons: Lousy software for Vista. A previous APC product I owned had software compatibility issues, too. Vista is relatively new so hopefully they'll get their act together.
Other Thoughts: Good amount of battery for a 750 watt PSU, 2 HD's, 2 DVD drives, 19" LCD and a 8800GTS.

Pros: Sturdy unit, lots of outlets.
Cons: I had a black which lasted no more than 15 min, yet the software says it was 6 hours and 49 min. Originally the battery capacity was 48 min fully charged now it says it's 37 min.. I just recently purchased the product and this is the first black out. Why is this being reported like this, I expected reasonably accurate reporting. Is this a software bug? A defected battery and or unit?
Other Thoughts: Sent a email to them for support.

Never a problem with APC
Pros: Latest of many APC UPS units I've bought. Never a problem with any of them. Decent software. Easy to put into operation.
Cons: Zilch.
Other Thoughts: Replacement batteries are readily available. Solid choice if you need a UPS.

Excellent
Pros: This unit is great. I had to upgrade as my original UPS was a Belkin which was also great but only went up to 250 watts.
With the new build which includes an 8800Ultra this was no longer enough. So I moved to this APC unit which has been flawless.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: The model I have is the same just revised a bit with Master switches. I picked mine up at BB for about $5 more.
Software is EXCELLENT and FULLY FUNCTIONAL uner VISTA x64!

Nice Product
Pros: Very Nice UPS. Had several power outages with no complications. If you put on "XP compatability" on the setup.exe software that it comes with, it will work with Vista no problem.
Cons: None

Sturdy
Pros: Very easy setup. Runs steadily and quietly. No complaints whatsoever. Audible warnings are loud but not too loud.
Cons: No battery charge meter. Socket for USB connection not actually USB... I'm sort of perplexed
Other Thoughts: No regrets, very satisfied. Have no fear, buy this product

Great UPS!
Pros: Excellent UPS, from APC of course! I've had serveral outages within the last year and it works great. Good value also.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Included Powerchute software for windows works fine. I used apcudsd for both Mac OS X and Linux, which works really well.

Solid UPS
Pros: Most dependable UPS my office uses. We have APC and Belkin UPS that just dont hold a candle to the APC. I have ordered 5 of these in the past month to replace other UPS around the office.
Cons: It is a bit bulky

I buy about 2 per month.
Pros: Good UPS. The battery lasts for a good while for the price. I use one of these just for my networking equipment (dsl, router, voip). It will keep it on all day. I sell them to customers who buy custom built PCs from me. They work well and protect my PCs. I get no complaints and no power related warranty issues. The software utility is a must. It is small and does the job of turning off your PC when the battery gets low. You can even adjust voltage tolerances if you wish. I have been very happy.
Cons: None.

Sensitive to Static
Pros: Purchased because of power conditioning, battery is replaceable by user instead of returning to manufacturer, there are audible alarms when the battery backup kicks in and runs low, provides telephone and cable surge protection, total power rating and $50,000 lifetime Equipment Protection Policy for surge protection. As this was on sale, it was more cost effective to buy the UPS instead of an additional good to high quality surge protector taking into account possibly buying a battery backup for my cordless phone base unit.
Cons: First one lasted less than two hours of service. Did an initial charge in an open area before connecting any computer equipment and then connected phone/DSL lines, computer and peripherals finally sliding the unit into permanent position. When attempting to get the serial number to permit for on-line product registration I had to slide the UPS back out and foot-long spark occurred and the UPS would no longer work. Don’t know if this spark was purely electrical or included some of the hydrogen venting from within the battery. Had to return and replacement seems to be working. To ensure no static buildup put a small pad underneath the UPS. Hard to get a rubber anti-static pad anymore so searched through housewares, flooring, etc., before I found something that fit and had some rubber (as opposed to plastic) content.
Other Thoughts: Originally thought that there was enough separation between outlets to allow for transformer block spacing but except for the two outlets at one end the separation between outlets is about 0.125 inches short, even if alternating between normal electrical plugs and transformer block. The User’s Guide states that warrantee on the UPS is for three years but the box exterior states only two years and advertises a purchase option to extend the warrantee beyond two years. Also note that the on-off switch can be easily bumped or kicked so have to be careful with placement. The surge-only outlets always work whether the on-off switch is on or not but the five surge outlets connected to the backup battery operate only if the switch is set to on. Software is available to shut down computer when the UPS battery is near full discharge but am waiting for Vista compatibility.

Pros: Lots of outlets, the transformer outlets are really nice to have.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend using the APC software that came with it. It lets you fine tune and keep track of all the happenings your backup battery.

Great UPS
Pros: Great product. Have great confidence on the reliability of the product. The program is great to monitor the status of UPS and any notification.
Cons: Should be able to have a more in depth configuration. Will not let me run on the UPS for longer than 5 mins. Limited by software not harware.

A must get
Pros: Surge Protection, lots of outlets. Lots of features, saved my computer from a lot of power surges.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Make sure you get the watts that you need. APC has a calculator that can help you choose your watts.

not a master switch...
Pros: Well constructed, lots of outlets, etc.
Cons: I intended to use this both as a battery backup AND master switch so that I could turn off everything (speakers, router, modem, network switch, etc.) at once. It doesn't work that way. If this unit is turned off but still connected to AC power, everything on the surge-protection side still gets power. Everything on the battery backup side is turned off. Go figure.

My computers are very happy
Pros: I was having all sorts of strange problems with my main computer and someone suggested that it might be the power. Ever since installing this unit the computer has been a lot better behaved. I'm running two computers, a kvm switch and an lcd monitor on it.
Cons: I wish it were possible to stand it on it's side to save some floor space but the sides are curved.
Other Thoughts: During the last big snowstorm here I watched as the software reported the ups taking over briefly when I didn't even notice the lights flicker. The power finally failed completely (which it seems to do several times every year) and I had plenty of time to shut the computers down properly.

APC BE750BB 750 VA 450 Watts 10 Outlets UPS - Retail
Pros: Works well.
Cons: Overclocking is not so good
Other Thoughts: Develed eggs 6 eggs 1 (4.5 ounce) can deviled ham spread 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish 1 tablespoon mayonnaise, or as needed salt and pepper to taste 1 pinch paprika 3 pimento-stuffed green olives, sliced (optional) Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, and run under cold water to cool. Peel eggs, and cut into halves lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks from the eggs, and place them into a medium bowl, scooping out a little bit of the white along with the yolk to make a more generous cup for filling. Mash the egg yolks with deviled ham, relish and enough mayonnaise to make a smooth mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Spoon the mixture into the egg whites, or pipe with a piping bag for a more elegant look. Garnish filling with a sprinkle of paprika, and top some of them with a slice of green olive stuffed wi

Pros: Works as Advertised... ran my PC & router during some flickering power recently. Didn't skip a beat.
Haven't had a long term power outage to really test it & didn't want to just unplug it from the wall.
Cons: None Yet

Very nice unit
Pros: It has a cable modem connector. This means you can protect the Modem. If you live is a storm area this is a good choice.
Cons: Actual wattage rating is a little low compared to the VA rating. Normally I would have expected a rating more like 500-550 watts.
Other Thoughts: I have two of these. One runs my PC, the other I use on my cable modem and VoIP router. The ability to protect the modem makes this a very good choice for a VoIP setup. The modem doesn't die because of foul weather, and the phone still works. If I lose power I still have a live phone, at least for a couple hours.

Nice product
Pros: Sturdy device, simple to use. It will do the job. No experience yet with battery life or performance in a real outage situation, although it does what it's supposed to when you disconnect the AC.
Cons: The battery connectors are a pain use. It's difficult to keep the red wire connected to the battery as you slide the battery back into the case.
APC needs a better way to connect the battery in the compartment.

Jury's still out
Pros: This unit has worked fine for the month or so I've had it. The unit is heavy and bulky, but I expected that. The software is simple, the construction amazing, and the overall design has lots of convenient features (i.e., orientation of the plugs, breaker reset, etc.). The documentation was clear and understandable as well. APC customer service is fantastic.
Cons: For no obvious reason, the unit fried. I started smelling burning plastic, heard a pop and everything plugged into the battery backup slots died. I unlpugged the unit and checked my equipment. No apparent permanent damage, but the APC unit is toast.
Other Thoughts: Despite the failure, I actually have no complaints. I only had my CPU, monitor, cordless phone, modem, and router plugged in, and it has worked extrememly well until now, even through two blackouts. I went directly to APC for a replacement, and they're sending me a replacement pronto, no questions asked. We'll see what happens.

high quality equipment
Pros: APC model provides high quality backup power. Runs my system (P4, 1GB DDR2, 4x 10k RPM WD Raptor) and Samsung flatscreen monitor for about 15 minutes on battery.
Cons: Haven't had any trouble with this unit.
Other Thoughts: My suitemates have kicked the circuit breaker several times here in the dorm, killing power to my room. The APC battery backup has switched seemlessly, keeping my system running when the breaker was kicked off. This is an excellent battery backup system.

Another great product from APC
Pros: Plenty of outlets, great battery capacity, feature rich software that shows you a history of power events.
Cons: Heavy and large. The bulkiness actually increased shipping costs to where the price exceeded what I would have paid at the local Best Buy for the same unit.
Other Thoughts: I don't really like the placement of the power button so much. It's easy accidentally hit with your toe under the desk or for a cat to step on when you are knee deep in the hardest level and forgot to quicksave...

Good to go..
Pros: Large powerful unit that can keep one computer going for an hour plus, or several computers to get through the momentary power 'hits'.
Cons: Large powerful unit...

A worthwhile investment for any small computer/home theater (PC) setup
Pros: Has saved my setup from unexpected power drops and shutdowns quite a number of times. This unit currently protects 2 computers (a small server and my main gaming computer), all-in-one printer/scanner/copier, video capture device, TV tuner card (since the UPS has coaxial connections), router, Ethernet connection, home theater receiver and subwoofer (both not on battery backup, though), a smaller auxiliary speaker system (also not on battery backup), and a number of small peripherals. Wow, and I get 20 minutes' worth of backup time to go? You see, I live in a dorm right now, and power surges/spikes are rather frequent; even turning on the receiver or my roommate's TV can result in a large power drop for a few milliseconds. This unit has saved my PCs from quite a number of them, including one that occured while I was away, and it's still working strong. Highly recommended, even if your system isn't as extensive as mine's.
Cons: Heavy as several bricks. But hey, that tells you there's a hefty, reliable battery in there. :)
On a serious note, the PowerChute Personal Edition version 1 software that is included is somewhat iffy. Yes, it reports the UPS' condition and allows me to monitor and adjust switching tolerances, but that's about it. I recommend downloading the latest build of PowerChute Personal Edition (version 2 as of right now) or using another UPS monitoring application such as Apcupsd (free). As one user said below, this unit works with Windows even without the software, but you won't be able to turn off the alarms, set auto-shutdown routines, and configure the UPS unless you install it.
Other Thoughts: Buy it if you have a small computer setup, even if you live in an area with relatively constant power, because it can save your investment on more than one occasion.

Pros: It's APC. I wouldn't expect anything else but a great working product, and that's what I got.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: While I bought it for use with a server, it should be noted that the included management software does not function correctly under WinServ2003. Of course, it's not advertised that way, so that's why this isn't really a "Con"

cannot download latest software
Pros: Newegg delivered the unit in less than 48 hours.
Cons: The unit may be very good, but I don't know. I am still trying to download the latest software (version 2) for Windows XP. It is difficult and complicated to download software from APC. Below is the message I sent to APC.
Other Thoughts: You are sending out the UPS units with obsolete software (version 1.5 for Win98, etc.). I wasted more than 30 minutes trying to start the the download. First I had to waste time to "register" and select a "password" (the latter only wastes the time of your customers and irritates them). I tried several times to start the download; I log in and then when I click on "continue" (download of version 2 for windows xp), I am sent back to the log in page. This happened several times. And all of these because you are shipping out the UPS units with old software and because you make it extremely difficult to download the latest software.

Pros: Works great and performs as expected, just like all the other APC products i've used.
Even without installing the software, windows XP recognises it as a battery and it is managed the same way you manage a laptop's battery power. Well done.
Cons: None really. I wish they would make a higher capacity one for the same price though ;)
Other Thoughts: We use over 10 of these in our business and they work great. I just ordered one for our server at home because my other APC is over 3 years old and doesn't have the USB interface.

Couldn't live without this baby...
Pros: Awesome product! 4 outlets for back-up power, and 4 for just surge surpression. All 8 are surge protection, but anyways. I have a 550W PSU, a good amount of draw from the internal PC components (4GB XMS mem, 2 video cards, 3500+ Athlon64, etc) and a 17" CRT monitor, and I get 13 minutes of battery run-time (including 5 mins of auto shut-down time). The power at my apt. complex is flakey at best, and this PSU kept the power clean, stable, and efficient. A MUST-HAVE FOR ANYONE!!
Cons: The only "con" I can think of is its size. It's not enormous, but it's big and heavy. This doesn't diminish it's quality because one cannot expect a good Back-Up from a little biddy thing.
Other Thoughts: Has already saved 2 college term papers' lives. Get a smaller one for your network devices (cable modem, router, switch, printer, etc). I can't imagine how I survived without this liferaft by my side. I'll never be without one again...

Heftier than I thought
Pros: Nice hefty dark gray UPS looks good and reliable in an office setting while offering a very affordable price. The software interfaces well with the server it's protecting.
Cons: none so far, but battery life remains to be seen.
Other Thoughts: I'd like to see if the newer APC UPSes' batteries have a longer MTBF than some of the older models I pump new batteries into every 6-9 months.

Saved my Keester
Pros: Just set one of these up on my workstation at the office. Less than a week later, a series of power-bumps toasted a bunch of data on a number of computers which had cheaper models or no battery backup provided. This thing worked seemlessly.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: The ultimate test of a battery backup is whether or not it actually does what it is supposed to when unexpected power issues occur. I've only had this about 2 weeks and it's already saved by rear end once.

Pros: Easy to set up, well supported by OSS, does what it's supposed to
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: I purchased this UPS to protect a fileserver (typical - a few hard drives, tape drive, headless), a firewall (very low power - C3 based), and my DSL router. I get about 25 minutes of power for that, which is plenty for me. The UPS is well supported in BSD and Linux by apcupsd, which is quite full-featured and well-documented. Nice unit, no complaints so far.
