Sticking with APC
Pros: Does the basics. This unit did work ok for me for a couple of years, so it wasn't a total waste or anything like that.
Cons: Batteries failed a little sooner than I'd expect. Constantly tripped by Samsung printer. Replacing battery is much more of a pain than APC product.
Other Thoughts: I've had the CyberPower CP900AVR for a little over 2 years. I was satisfied with this unit for a while - it did its job during several power "flickers" and prevented PC power loss. When I bought a Samsung color laser late in 2008 I noticed that every time I printed with it, the CP900AVR would trip. (The printer wasn't plugged in to the UPS, but to a surge protector plugged into the same AC panel.) I assumed it was the Samsung at fault - and it may be in some way, but after connecting an APC UPS I never have the issue.
The batteries on the CP died recently so I ordered a replacement set. Installing the new batteries was much more of a hassle than on the similar APC model. Once I figured out how the batteries fit together (had to remove a bunch of adhesive, which can't be replaced easily) putting the new ones back was like holding a jigsaw puzzle in one hand while trying to use a screwdriver.
Sticking with APC in the future.

Good Product
Pros: Sets up easily and operates reliably. Also, the firmware displays the battery backed-up wattage, which is good to know for a number of reasons.
Cons: No cons, though its dimensions aren't ideal for my purposes.
Other Thoughts: The line-interactive design with AVR is much better for my purposes than a simple standby unit. It is set up so that when under load it is operating at no more than 60% of its rated capacity, and it is used along with a high quality PSU (Antec EarthWatts). That makes for happy hardware.

Pros: none
Cons: failed after about 10 months. no docs on how to replace battery. didn't bother to contact manuf. as I bought a APC unit that had more capacity.

Pros: Have had no trouble with this UPS. Purchased to power a Linux server during periodic brownouts. Could not get the NUT cyberpower driver to work on the serial cable. Tried the newhidups driver instead on the USB and it worked great.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Wish the power switch also controlled the 'surge protected only' outlets as well. I also would like hardware vendors to provide driver source code for their hardware or support GNU groups to develop and make available that code. Availability of this code for a piece of hardware is often a critical factor in my purchase decisions.

Great UPS
Pros: Great unit, every so often i get bored and unplug it just so it can switch to battery power and it has done the job well. I have never seen how long it takes to fail but soon I probably will.
Cons: None so far, no smells, no software problems(its running on xp). I pretty much have no cons!
Other Thoughts: Great little unit, I have it powering my voip router, wireless router, cable modem, and server. With all of those things on I get a cyberpower estimate of 53 minutes from the UPS.

Horrible Warranty
Pros: Nice specs and price point, if the features actually worked
Cons: AVR failed just over a year after purchase. Contacted CyberPower and they expect me to dish out cash to ship a UPS to them for repair. To make matters worse, their repair time is 3-4 WEEKS. NO UPS for a month and money out of my pocket, might as well just buy a new one.
Other Thoughts: CyberPower doesn't backup their products, go with a trusted name in power protection like APC, I'll never buy another cyberpower product again.
Manufacturer Response:Thank you for your comments regarding the CP900AVR. Our apologies for the problems that you experienced with the AVR feature of the UPS. AVR failure in a UPS is very rare and highly unusual - less than .007%. The CyberPower “CP” series with AVR is an extremely dependable product line. I’d also like to state that our average turn-around time for repair is roughly 2 weeks. Incidentally, all CyberPower products are covered for a full 3 years! Other major UPS manufactures only offer a 2 year warranty and they also require the customer to prepay shipping. We encourage customers to send the UPS via ground or surface delivery, which is normally $10-$15. CyberPower does pay the return shipping charges. Again, I do apologize for the inconvenience, but we do our best to find a suitable and fair solution for our customers. Thanks, CyberPower.

Works well with Vista
Pros: Good layout -vertical, with plugs out the back. Looks nice next to the PC. USB connection works seamlessly with Vista. Monitor software is not required for operation, but provides additional information about the state of the battery and power line.
Cons: My PC draws a little over 120 watts nomally, the actual running time on batteries is somewhat less than the estimated time - but is acceptable.
Other Thoughts: I like it, I'd buy another one...

Awesome UPS for the money
Pros: Inexpensive, good battery reserve, latest version of PowerPanel Personal Edition doesn't have memory leaks.
Cons: No LCD display :P
Other Thoughts: Download the latest version of PPPE v1.0 from CyberPower's website. No memory leaks and a great user interface. This UPS is a bargain. You also get a 3yr warranty!

leaky software
Pros: Cheap, good capacity
Cons: The included software has a horrible memory leak, after a couple of weeks it's using upwards of 500mb of ram and it just keeps climbing, completely defeating the purpose of using a UPS in the first place (so I can leave the computer on for extended periods of time without issue, I consider running out of ram when I have 2gb available an "issue").
Other Thoughts: It had a small odor at the beginning, but that passed after a couple of days. Apart from the memory leak I don't have a problem with it.
Manufacturer Response:Thank you for your comments on the CP900AVR. The “memory leak” issue was resolved in November 2006 and updated versions of our software can be downloaded for free from our website: www.cyberpowersystems.com. I greatly apologize for this inconvenience. CyberPower.

Great Protection
Pros: 560 Watts is plenty of power reserve, Plug & Play went well, not badly priced considering the investment of my computer
Cons: The supplied software isn't the greatest, but it works well. Also must have hibernation enabled or the Windows BubbleTip will remind you that it isn't enabled, at every bootup (very annoying)
Other Thoughts: I have had this backup for about two months, and I'd never have guessed how "dirty" the power is here. I watch the input power level through the software and see the voltage dipping and spiking all the time. Of course, the backup immediately takes over and keeps delivering clean power. Anyone that knows electronics *knows* that dirty power can be deadly to sensitive equipment. This backup prevents that dirty power from reaching my computer.

Average performance
Pros: Inexpensive, good battery runtime.
Cons: PowerPanel software is junk. The software leaks memory and after a few days has consumed MB's of RAM and continues to climb. This was tested on multiple systems. As one reviewer said, it switches to battery often even though power is stable.
Other Thoughts: APC is a little more, but you get what you pay for.

Pros: Sufficient outlets.
Cons: Has a strong odor of something (as a previous reviewer mentioned). Interferes with certain DSL modems (even if the phone lines aren't connected through it), killed my COMCAST Cable Modem signal (which defeats the purpose of me buying this in the first place). Produces a lot of noise which is annoying. Switches to battery even when the power is stable.
Other Thoughts: Don't buy this, go with APC.
Manufacturer Response:Thank you for your comments on this unit – we greatly appreciate the opportunity to provide some insight on your technical concerns. In regards to generated interference via DSL, phone, or cable data lines, this is very typical when an internal battery is not functioning properly. When the transformer cannot deliver power to recharge the battery, residual “back noise” is generated and can sometimes affect signal quality. Coincidentally, bad batteries can also cause unusual odors, system noise, and unstable AVR behavior (switching in-and-out of battery mode). Please be sure to give us a call and we’ll replace the battery free-of-charge under our unconditional 3-year warranty. Thanks, CyberPower – 1-877-297-6937.

Seems to work
Pros: Unit seems to work fine
Cons: The unit came in just original retail box and not with any extra packing protection. Box had about 1/3 of end of box missing. I didn`t want to wait 10 days for exchange so kept. It has a strong odor (not sure what)
Other Thoughts: Newegg should have packed in another box for protection. First time getting a retail from Newegg that was not packed in another box to protect item.
