Small, light and reliable product.
Pros: I did my homework, trying to find the smallest; lightest; highest capacity / quality UPS and I came across this one.
Great price with all of the characteristics I was looking for in an UPS.
Wonderful all around battery backup. It works great!
Cons: NONE!
Other Thoughts: I bought this UPS for a friend of mine as a birthday gift.
She is a missionary and currently lives in Costa Rica, where the power constantly goes down for minutes, sometimes even hours when a tropical storm strikes.
I chose this particular model because of its capacity, size and weight that makes it perfect to be carried by world traveler / missionary.
She says that a lot of people at the base thank me for the gift I gave her.
They all benefit from this gift because they are all plugging their equipment on it; protecting their most valuable equipment from power surges and flickering power outages.
I'm very pleased to hear that the product works well and the users are very happy with it.
Thanks Newegg!

Worked for over 3 years
Pros: Purchased two of these and they worked for 3 years without problems.
Cons: Batteries finally died on both within a few months of each. The problem is that the batteries are special order and not readily available. They will probably cost more than replacing the entire UPS. Wish I had know that when I purchased them.
Other Thoughts: Vendor site not much help finding replacement batteries.

Questionable life
Pros: Small and portable
Cons: 2 out of the 4 that I bought died within 6 months. The first had a battery charge board go out and the 2nd won't power on at all any more.

Solid for several years
Pros: Solid for 3+ years. I live in the mountains where power goes off frequently, usually for a brief time, at least one a week, on average. For over three years my 575C has kept my PC, monitor, router, etc all running during the many outages. At the same time, I purchased three others for another location and they are all also still working fine.
Cons: Lately, when powering up the 575C after it has been off, it won't go into active mode - just clicking back off. However, in each case a second attempt comes up and all is well. Possibly my batteries are just getting old.

Even less impressed now!
Pros: One of two units that I bought 16 months ago is still running trouble free. It keeps my overstuffed 2.4 GHz C2D system with 19" LCD screen running for about 10 minutes after a power outage. More than enough time to save all work and shut down safely.
This is a follow-up to my earlier post, below.
Cons: The first unit that broke was replaced by Newegg. The replacement wasn't put into service until about 2 months later (see "other thoughts" for the reason). I plugged it in, tried to turn it on, but it didn't do anything. No lights, no relays switching, nada. Contacted OPTI-UPS for advice, and they suggested I'd leave it plugged in overnight. Almost 24 hours later the unit still doesn't work. The unit isn't even charging; because the battery is at a little under one Volt. Good thing these things have a 3 year warranty; and now I'm sending it back to the manufacturer, after I got an RMA from them (since it's too late to send it back to Newegg).
Other Thoughts: The first defective unit was sent back to Newegg within a year. As per Newegg's instructions, I returned everything, including cables, software, and manual. Got my replacement real fast, just couple of days later; but without cables, software and manual! It took me several dozen emails and a couple of phone calls before someone at Newegg finally admitted that they misplaced the accessories, and to quit suggesting me to "purchase the missing items from the manufacturer". Really... Eventually, Newegg sent me a $25 check (thanks!) to purchase the missing items locally. "Locally" meant driving 60 miles to the nearest Radio Shack, where I bought a serial cable at Radio Shack prices... In short: not a very pleasurable experience, considering the thousands of $$ that I have spent at Newegg, over the past years.

Works fine, but not for gaming comps
Pros: I had this for about a year and a half now and it worked just fine in that time. Had some power flickers and it kept the computer running fine.
Cons: I recently upgraded my 8600GS to a 8800GTX and found that under heavy graphics load the power draw for the computer now would cause this UPS to get mad. It started beeping in alarm within seconds of firing up Crysis.
Other Thoughts: Great budget UPS for most computers. Don't use this with a system that has high power demands.

Not very impressed
Pros: Cheap. And, despite another reviewer's comments, mine are (were) free of RF radiation. I have a couple of shortwave receivers in the house; and these UPS units are absolutely quiet. An absolute must in this household.
Cons: One just died on me a couple of weeks ago. If that's not bad enough: it took 2 PCs with it! The UPS now sounds more like a blender, whenever I press the power button.
Other Thoughts: I asked for an RMA, but I'm not sure if I'm going to use the replacement. Replacing the broken PC parts is going to cost more than a new UPS, and I'm not sure if I can take another chance like this...

Cheap, effective, no problems
Pros: No problems, exactly what I expected. Be aware that all outlets are not protected (as per other's reviews).
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Does not provide protection for very long, but I purchased for providing a stable powersupply....exactly what I wanted

Terrible
Pros: Small and Small
Cons: DOA - Return policy is only for replacement. I would have dumped this like a hot potato if I had the chance!
Other Thoughts: Save your money by spending more. I purchsed this as a surge suppressor. We have a lot of intermittent surges, but not too may power outages. I am not worries about the computer shutting off in a power failure, just taking undervoltage and over voltage conditions.

One broken, one good
Pros: Small, light, has a pretty good run time.
Cons: I bought two, one was DOA. It tooks us a while to find out; but after some testing we came to the conclusion that one unit doesn't even backup the smallest loads.

Blew out 2 out of 3 in 2 years
Pros: I bought this unit for the price, size and good reviews but after 1 - 2 years of use, I am very disappointed.
Cons: I have had complete failure on 2 out of 3 of these power supplies during the past 2 years in using them. Had to get them repaired from manufacturer. Save head aches and buy another brand.

Pros: price, effective when they work ....
Cons: reliability. I have bought 4 of these from NewEgg, 1 was defective from the manufacturer.
Other Thoughts: Sweet NewEgg RMA policy saving the day on the 1 defective unit, other 3 working AOK on menagerie of machines/monitors :-).

Hmmmmm......
Pros: It seems to be a good product
Cons: None, that I know of, but I haven't used it yet.
Other Thoughts: Input Voltage Range 100/110/120Vac or 220/230/240Vac Input Frequency 50/60 Hz
That's what the specs say. I assumed there would be automatic voltage regulation or a switch, like many electronics on the market. Well, I live in Germany, and I'm currently in Iraq. I have 230V power. Now I have to buy a transformer just so I can use it because Newegg sent one that's only 110/115/120. Maybe it should be clarified more on the website or there should be a choice of which one you need.

Good Value
Pros: Good Item for the price. No issues so far. SLI or higher end systems may want higher wattage unit.
Cons: Not Free.
Other Thoughts: Newer high end systems may benefit from using a higher wattage unit.

Works great
Pros: I've been running one of these for almost a year and it has powered two computers non-stop for that duration. The software says the load is 79% with both computers folding (ie, CPU=100%). It's sufficient for temporary power outages that don't last more than a minute or two. Just bought another one.
Cons: None really, the software is a bit cheesy, but functional.
Other Thoughts: Wish it had a LAN port with remote management, but you can't expect that for this price.

Great UPS
Pros: This OPTI UPS works great. I recommend the VS575C to anyone that needs backup power.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: As i wrote this my UPS kicked in, because of the freeze rain storm right now and never lost power to my PC during the few minutes. AMD Athlon x2 4200, 1 GB, 4 150-SATA HD, water cooler, Rosewill 450 watt PS

Died after 4 months
Pros: Provides backup power as advertised. Worked great for 4 months, even over 345W. 3-4 power outages gave me a chance to shut down my computer.
Cons: Battery died at month 4 due to me being a moron.
Other Thoughts: I was running an LCD TV, computer, and router through it. Only after it died did I add up wattage and find it's been running great for 4 months way over spec.

Back up for HDTV
Pros: This ups is great for holding the settings on my HDTV & DVD for timed programs. Allso here at the beach the power goes all over and this stop the burnouts!!
Cons: could have bought larger unit but price great on this unit.
Other Thoughts: Can't beat the price and service that the egg gives! Holds the home remote phone during outage.

Pros: It seems to be powerful enough to keep everything running for a few minutes. It is small and fits in tighter spaces than others. It was cheap
Cons: There was not enough room to plug in anything with an AC adapter. The outlets are too close together for that. So my modem and router are not on battery back up like I would like. UPS 3 business day delivery took 5
Other Thoughts: not too bad.

UPS
Pros: I live in an old apartment complex that is subject to brown outs. This product has brought piece of mind to such situations.
Cons: Needed to fish around the manufacturer's website to find the updated software needed to run the hardware smoothly.
Other Thoughts: Well worth the price.

Good value
Pros: Good value. Has worked fine in last 2 power outages. Driverless install w/ serial connection. Good documentation.
Cons: Bundled software is a bit cheesy and adds gratuitous systray icons. Not really a big deal b/c you only need to open it once to do your initial setup.
Other Thoughts: Seems to be at sweet spot between value and features

Working great
Pros: Easy to set up and use, very compact design, works as it should. Great price for a simple solution.
Cons: I haven't seen any yet.
Other Thoughts: I am a graphic designer/illustrator, and I am generally not very demanding of the functionality of a UPS. All I want it to do is keep my computer/monitor/external HD running long enough to save my important files and shut down. After testing it out, It seems to do just that, although I don't know exactly how long it would actually go for if I let it drain completely. Let's just hope I'm not away from my computer during an outtage :).
Another note: I don't use the software that comes with it because: 1. I don't care about it, and 2. I have a Mac, which the software doesn't support. Not a big deal for me.

Small, powerful and easy to install
Pros: I've bought four (4) of these 575 VA units and they all have worked great. Battery charges quickly, has self-test function and battery failure alert.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: An extra I was not aware of was the built-in modem phone line surge protection. This unit is almost "Tiny", but it gives at least 15 minutes backup with desktop and LCD monitor. All cables were included.

:-D
Pros: Second one Ive bought and has performed as expected. The 1st one was bought for a Sempron 64 machine with a 19" LCD Monitor. The software CD was bit old so I visited the website and the new version worked great. Software is simple and has good logging capabilities. The 2nd one I bought recently, and was able to handle my Opteron 165 system with 3 Hard Drives, 2 DVD drives, 500 W power supply, and my Benq 20.1 " monitor. I will be getting a few more of these since they work as expected and they are tiny.
Cons: None :-D

Works Great
Pros: This little device has already taken me through 2 power outages just fine. It does just what it says.
Cons: non
Other Thoughts: People who complain about this only having 3 battery outlets need to do their research. 99 percent of all consumer battery backups only supply battery power to 2 or 3 of the outlets. Otherwise the battery would only last a couple of seconds. The idea of this device is to give you time to save your data, not to run your home theater.

not pricey, yet works like magic!
Pros: well lets see here.. within the first day of owning the superb product, it was put to the test.. and PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS!!!!
evidently the wiring in this apartment complex blows goats and the power is always going on/off... very upsetting when you lose all your data!
however, this thing rocks. forget big name brand yada yada ups things. THIS WORKS! It is put to the test at least 5 times a weeek. And passes with flying colors!!!! Can't beat that with a wiffle bat!!!
Cons: the price of shipping.. bah. why these things sooo dang heavy!!!
seriously, that is the only con.
Other Thoughts: just pure awesome. it looks awesome. its compact. its CHEAP. it WORKS!!!!
that is the bottom line. CHEAP PRICED & WORKS WONDERS!!!

Pros: affordable, small form factor
Cons: ordered 4 (1 defective on delivery and 1 was a lower 345VA model in a 575VA box)
Other Thoughts: Received timely from NewEgg but look at cons for details. NewEgg replaced one but took over 2 weeks with the other and decided to issue a RMA refund rather than another UPS. This is fine with us as the ones we do have do not appear to be very sturdy. We anticipate they will cause us problems within the year. Highly recommend that you do not buy this UPS.

It radiates RF like crazy
Pros: It is small and cheap
Cons: This thing radiates RF like a radar. With it running, I can't use radios or TV antennas. Also, the description says 6 outlets. BEWARE: Only three of the outlets are battery backed. I did not understand that before buying.
Other Thoughts: I'll keep it, but I don't know what I can use it for. I like to record TV and radio shows on my PC, and with this little transmitter closeby that is going to be hard. Maybe I can encase it in a grounded Faraday cage.

UPS
Pros: Can't say much other than it works exactly as expected. Price is good. Unit's "vertical" stance, like some other brands, is good for taking up less floorspace. Replaced a horizontal sort of unit, so improvement was especially appreciated.
Cons: Not so much of a name-brand like APC or Tripp, but seems to be working okay. Software was made for many models and this unit is only a small subset feature-wise, so displays are on the barren side -- but adequate. No complaints given the price class.
Other Thoughts: If one uses the URL in the manual given for the purpose of downloading the latest software, website demands an ID and password. Manual does not give one to use. Kinda useless.

Pros: Works great, the power surges have affected it, kept the computer running with monitor for about 12 minutes, has kept many perfomances/shows/concerts going with out a problem
Cons: cant plug to much into it, it drains quick and shuts off, keep it to just one computer and one monitor

Cannot power small devices
Pros: This UPS is very small, but still manages to power a typical system for ~5 minutes.
Cons: Due to a "no load shutdown function", the UPS shuts down after 3 minutes if the load is under 20W. This means that the unit cannot be used to power DSL modems, routers, fish tank powerheads, etc. I wish there was a way to disable the no load feature, as is possible on the more expensive opti-ups units.

Nice
Pros: For the price this is a wonderful UPS, im using it as a shock absorber for my case (our power fluxuates at my house, blew 3 power supplies before i got this.)
Cons: on the box it says you can only use the "C" series to power a computer and an LCD monitor, i found that with SLi you can only do your computer, but its to be expected, dont want to draw alot of current through a single plug.

Not that great
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Well...The thing only worked for a week. Item is warranted only through manufacturer. They said battery was bad and did not want to fix it at first until they realized I only had product for 2 weeks. They did give me an RMA and I am awaiting the replacement. Neweggs RMA is way better!
Other Thoughts: At least they are sending me a new one

great value
Pros: Supports my rig. Compact and light. Data through port is great because I won't have to plug my router into the unit to protect my PC.
Cons: Be advised that while this unit has 6 outlets, only 3 of them are battery backup. The other 3 are surge protect only. I was able to deal with it though.
Other Thoughts: Haven't tried the power management software yet, but it's a good idea. OPTI recommends not plugging in laser printers as they may draw too much power. I have a regular surge strip for that. This is what I have attached: Battery ports - 480 W PSU 19" CRT Wireless Kbd/Mouse Cradle Surge ports - Modem 17" LCD Powered Speakers

Great, inexpensive UPS
Pros: For the money, this UPS seems to be a real winner. I have had two power supplies, and two video cards fry in the past year because of power brown-outs at my house. I bought this to protect my computer from momentary power losses. Seems to work great. In the two weeks I've owned this, the power hat cut out 1 time, and the UPS kept the computer going. This is exactly what I wanted. The UPS will keep the computer running for quick power losses, and then shut it down safely if the power stays off. Software is easily configurable. It monitors the computer, and pops up a window to let you know of the UPS has saved the computer from power loss. This UPS is not meant to run a computer for extended periods of time, but it is great for the average home user who just wants some extra protection. Also, it is very small, and fits under the desk great.
Cons: None.

Good enough...
Pros: What can I say...it works. I turned off the living room outlets and the computer stayed on.
Cons: The outlets are too close together. I imagined from the picture that each outlet would be able to fit your standard AC adapter type plug. In reality, they are just meant to hold the small, simple types of three-pronged plugs. My printer, speaker system, and modem all used AC adapters, so I had to plug my printer straight into another outlet.
Other Thoughts: I can't get the installed software to communicate with the battery. I have the battery plugged into the right port, but no luck.

Nice UPS & Small!
Pros: The only UPS products I've ever owned prior to the purchase of the VS575C are APC units. The older APC Back-UPS 400's I've owned have been very reliable, and very heavy. This Opti-UPS VS575C looks good, and functions very well, but it's very light - only 5 lbs. So, only time will tell how rugged and reliable it will be. Nevertheless, I'm certainly impressed, especially given its reserve capacity, low weight, and small footprint.
Cons: Beeper could be louder.

Comments: I have been running this UPS for 10 months now, with no problems. I am using it on a home system with a 19 inch CRT monitor, and a case with a 465w PS. Great job, those Florida power surges, and brown outs do not affect my PC anymore!

Nice little UPS
Comments: If you're looking to continue working during a power failure, then look elsewhere. If all you need is a few extra minutes so your computer can be shut down normally, then this UPS is perfect. It works beautifully, plain and simple. A UPS has become one of those "must-have" items for computer users. This UPS is perfect for those who don't have one. It's small (VERY small!) and very easy to connect. Highly recommended!
A word of advice though: if you do order this UPS, make sure you check out the OPTI-UPS website so you can download the current version of the free OPTI-Safe monitoring software. My UPS shipped with an obsolete and slightly buggy version of OPTI-Safe (Mine shipped with V2.3 while the website is currently offering V3.2 for download). This is my only complaint, but it's very minor. I still higly recommend this UPS to anyone who doesn't have one.

Interferrence
Comments: I have a home office, which means that I have a couple of televisions nearby. And, this OPTI-UPS V575C that I bought puts out a lot of EMI and RFI when it is plugged into the wall which basically 'yucks up' NBC, ABC, and CBS. The other stations are fine, but the main networks have static while this thing is plugged into the wall, so anytime I really want to watch or record something on the main television networks, I have to unplug the OPTI-UPS and turn it off, though I could just simply unplug it and let it run on battery, but that drains the battery and you would get to listen to it beep the whole time, so you have to turn it off as well as unplugging it. No static when it is running off of the battery and unplugged from the wall. With all the glowing reviews, I simply wasn't expecting EMI and RFI problems with this unit, so I was a bit disappointed. But, for a real workplace office with no television sets, this would indeed be perfect.

Great UPS for the money.
Comments: I love this thing. For under $xx I wasn't expecting much and to tell the truth I don't need much when it comes to a UPS as long as it powers down my computer. I had a little trouble setting it up in Linux at first because it uses smart signaling and the majority of the software for Linux is for dumb signaled UPS but I grabbed the latest Linux software from opti-ups.com and it works perfectly. Under a normal load I have a little over 5 minutes of battery time which is perfect for me because when the power goes out here it's either for 5 seconds or 5 hours and 95% of the time it's the former. So if you're looking for a good deal on a UPS and don't need more then 5 minutes or so battery time I would highly recommend this model. It even has user replaceable batteries that run under $20 off the net and it's so small and lightweight you could put it just about anywhere. Two thumbs up!

Old Opti-Ups
Comments: I have an 500 VA model I purchased in 1998 and is still going. Battery life is shorter now but it's survived many many brown-outs and power outages over the years.
I'll be replacing the battery on the one I have and buying more Opti-UPS for my other systems.

Less is More
Comments: The Opti VS575C is compact unit that packs a wallop in performance. Its small footprint lets you fit it anywhere. Battery charges quickly and lasts more than long enough to finish and close documents during a power outage. Tech Support is nothing less than A+. You can pay more for others, but why? This does the job at a great price. AND its one of the few if any that protects from "brown outs" those damaging dips in voltage that happen daily. A real system killer, and Opti protects you from them. I know. I live & work in FLA, and we battle brown outs daily. If you buy this unit, you will have made an informed and correct decision.

very nice BUT.....
Comments: nice UPS in a compact case BUT do not buy it if you are planning to use it to back up a VOIP cable modem. The modem consumes only ~15 watts, and this UPS has automatic shutdown for less than 45 watts. It is incompatable with cable modems!

Comments: In all this is an excellent product for the price and it appears to perform without any type of problems; also it is very compact. I feel though that the software could be much more user friendly and it would be nice to have a time indicator of how much time is remaining before the backup turns completly off; other than just estimating by the beeps on the UPS.

Comments: I just got this last week and set it up. I get many power flickers where I live and It wreaks havoc on my computer. First power flickers happened 3 days after installing andd I didn't even notice on the computer. Then the power went out and stayed out, and it automatically shutdown as it should. Best money I've ever spent.

Comments: OPTI-UPS VS575C is a great inventment to protect my computer at home, especially when i attend a LAN. With all the power failures that happen at LANs as well as "dirty" power, OPTI-UPS VS575C is a must.

Comments: Picked up one of these after a power hit took out my monitor. It arrived in just a few days. I was impressed with its quality and its compact size. The software was flexible and easy to install (nice). I like the device so much I picked up two more for my other PC's, can't beat the price. For the person with the average workstation/monitor looking for power protection with auto shutdown support this is it...GREAT NEWEGG!!!

Comments: have had 3 pcs of Viewsonic OPTI-UPS Power 500vs for 8-9 years and the battery died months ago. Many thanks to Newegg!!! I got OPTI-UPS VS575C. The price is 1/3 of the old 500vs but it has more outlets, hier surge energy rating (1050 joules) and also "COLD START". It works great. nothing can touch my computer - power failures, brownouts, surges... I am happy and feel like I am 21 again. It is a very good buy and better value for money than the competition on the markets.
