Rating + 4 Worth it if you need

Pros: If your in a collage math class this is pretty much standard issue if you want to survive.

Cons: It coast to much,
they could at least put PacMan on it:-)

Other Thoughts: No chose but to buy a graphing calculator when your in collage math, it is best to buy the Texas Instruments one because all the math books give instructions for them.

Rating + 5 Great for College

Pros: Great calculator that boasts a myriad of useful functions across the educational spectrum. I personally use it in my college classes, and it is permitted on almost all major tests. This thing will last you through your educational career and will do so with style.

Cons: Not solar powered, cannot wake me up in the morning like the tests do.

Rating + 2 Electrical Engineering

Pros: Easy programming language to master. Good for HS mathematics, financial analysis, and engineering majors that do not rely on complex variables.

Cons: This machine is almost useless for analysis of complex variables. This includes electromagnetics, communications theory, DSP, image processing, linear systems, electrical machines, and more. A TI-36 is a better machine for EE majors than this.

Also, the display is ancient. Connectivity is poor. Interface is clumsy.

Other Thoughts: If you are not a EE or CpE major, this machine is probably great for you. I owned one for several years, and it took me from 11th grade to 2nd year as an EE major. I went to a TI-89 Titanium, and a TI-36 because it was needed for the FE exam.

Rating + 5 AMAZING

Pros: Does everything you could need from a calculator.

Cons: Can be tedious to do tasks that require very little effort compared to the TI-89.

Other Thoughts: I'm a petroleum engineering major, and I've made it through Calculus I, II, & III, Differential Equations, Physics I & II, Thermodynamics, Statics, and Mechanics of Materials with this calculator. I don't plan on buying another calculator, as I am a junior and don't think I'll need anything else to get my B.S.

Rating + 4 Slightly cheaper here

Pros: bah, i got through highschool physics, calculus, and trig by renting one of these, and now i have to buy one for college. these things are just as i remember them, no change over the years. stores seem to want $100+ for them, but newegg is knocking off a bit of cash. not as much as i hoped, but I'd buy my calculator from newegg over a retail store any day.

Cons: the ti-83 has been around for a long time and yet consumers are still being charged out the rear for them. Texas Instruments is making a killing off these things.

Other Thoughts: but hey, can't pass college math without one <_<
