Rating + 4 good, but---

Pros: great price! good sound, nice screen color,
sd slot, fm, ----etc

Cons: most of the videos i convert with the sansa software ends up with the voice out of sync with the video?
turning the thing sideways to watch a video is lame! (can't put it on a base station when it sideways!

Other Thoughts: Its a great lil player (other then the sync n sideways thing!
but, the Sansa fuze is a far better choice!

Rating + 3 Decent music player

Pros: Nice sound. The spinning ring is kinda cute and lets you zoom through a list. Customizable equalizer. There is a feature that allows you to use the ring to scrub through music, which is kinda handy if you want that kinda control. Menu system is pretty slick. Click and drag songs between computer and player. Expansion slot is simple to use; works with 2GB micro SD cards. The sliders for volume, screen brightness, etc. allow you to take things near extreme levels, which I consider to be good, compared to my Zune that lets me set screen brightness to medium, a hair below medium, or a hair above medium.

Cons: Record button on the side is the most annoying convenience ever. I now have several recordings of me saying "What the heck happened to the music?!" because I reached for the player and accidentally hit the record button, which immediately stops the music and starts recording. Handy if you like that, but it's too easy to accidentally hit and you can't even resume your music where you left off; you have to navigate back to the song you were at and the scrub to where you left off. Also, Sandisk has jumped on the bandwagon and decided not to use a standard cable to connect the player to a computer. Gone are the days when you could afford to lose the data cable the player came with and just buy a standard mini USB adapter for a couple bucks or jsut buy a couple to have at home, school, work, etc. now, you have some proprietary, non-standard thing that will most likely cost $25 to replace.

Other Thoughts: If you have a micro SD card in the player and then plug the player into the computer, the computer cannot see the micro SD card. You have to add/remove content from the micro SD card separately. Also, you cannot play music while the player is recharging. Also, hitting the buttons around the spinning ring is not too easy unless you have small fingers becasue the ring sticks out kinda far and the buttons are flush with the surface of the player. This is definitely not as good as the Meizu mini player. However, I guess it was worth the $30 I paid for it (from a woot). On last thing: you cannot search throughy your songs using the directory structure in which the songs exist. This feature seems to have been dispanded in the last few years when everyone started sorting by album, artist, year, etc. What is so bad about letting me sort by folder, Microsoft/Sandisk/Apple?

Rating + 5 Slick

Pros: Battery charge really does last about 20 hours. I use it daily for 2-4 hours and charge it once a week.

1GB uSD cards are cheap enough that you can buy a few of them and load them with song libraries that fit your mood.

Cons: Doesn't play while charging. Play/pause button hard to access because it's too close to thumb wheel.

Other Thoughts: The hardware and graphics are pretty and provide a high-quality impression. The old fashioned m250 model (AAA battery) has better ergonomics, except for e250's thumbwheel is great.

Rating + 2

Pros: some of the music that comes with it is quite good. the user interface is pretty intuitive. good sound quality and the earbuds it comes with are rather nice. The micro SD slot is a major plus now that those cards have decent capacity.

Cons: the firmware is a little unstable. I have had 2 of these now and after a year they start messing up. Sometimes they will keep playing (often in 1/2 second loops) but become unresponsive to any input including the power button. Also the firmware keeps separating albums for some reason. it especially has a problem with Rammstein's "Herzeleid", it splits the album into "Herzeleid" and "Rammstein". Along with that any albums loaded on to the micro SD card will have all the tracks automatically alphabetized. These also don't play well with WMP either, DO NOT WRITE ANYTHING ON THIS PLAYER USING WMP! This just creates headaches when it comes time to manage files on the player. Also, when it is being charged there is no playback available at all.

Other Thoughts: Nice if you use the included Rhapsody software to load songs, and the media converter works very well.

After having 2 though, I am ready for something different since the second is messing up just like the first.

Rating + 2 Not worth it

Pros: It's cheap and that's about it.

Cons: Poor construction, Plastic face is off center and uneven.
Jog dial hard to use and has limited functionality.
Confusing menus and had to select items, navaigation is awful
Software is windoz only
Not compatible with itunes

Other Thoughts: Item is not refundable and I can see why. Newegg would be giving refunds right and left for this dismal excuse of a music player. There is a reason why ipods are the best selling music player and this is a perfect example of why. It's not worth it.

Pros: I listen to e-audio books on the road. Not having to fool around with cd's while driving is great. Also loaded some old Genisis...Good sound, teriffic price.

Cons: Had a fast forward problem with Overdrive audio content. Problem fixed with a firmware update. Other than than no problems.

Other Thoughts: As always Newegg price and shipping almost impossible to beat.

Rating + 4 killed my fist unit

Pros: Inexpensive, microSD slot, sturdy looking, great sound

Cons: for some reason, my winXP machine can't detect it but my VISTA machines can. upgraded my first unit with the new firmware and it killed it. kudos to NewEgg for their superb RMA service. earphones are a little wimp.

Other Thoughts: did not attempt to upgrade my replacement unit with the firmware to the new one for fear that it may kill it again. im not really into videos and everything, i just needed something to listen to while i ride my motorcycle and this fits me perfectly. added an extra 2 GB microSD for some extra storage.

Pros: MicroSD rocks, the interface works well, the battery life is really good, its small, doesn't break, charges from usb, has NO DUMB SOFTWARE. just shows up as a hard drive.

Cons: doesn't play xvid videos, can't make me a sandwitch. is plastic and not titanium.

Other Thoughts: put a 2 or 4 gb microsd in it

Rating + 5 Excellent little MP3 player

Pros: Bought 2 of these during a ShellShocker sale and could not be happier. Much nicer than I expected. The sound is superb and everything works as it should. Who needs an iPod when these are actually more veratile. The FM radio is great.

Cons: Had to give one to my wife. I had to update the firmware to be able to set the USB port, but no big deal.

Other Thoughts: Bought an A-Data 8g microSDHC card to bring it up to 10gb. The ones I received were the updated V2 units.

Pros: easy to use for a newbie (new to mp3 players) like me! I was able to expand the memory to 2 + 8gb microsd card without too much fuss. (I was expecting to run into major problems getting the player to recognize the microsd card but instead it worked!)

Cons: not much documentation comes with it, but the website is helpful.. but understanding what they are talking about is something else

Other Thoughts: No idea if videos will play (but i just want to listen to my songs really)

Rating + 3 Decent

Pros: Sleek design, bright colors, great sound quality

Cons: Buttons way too thin, earbuds too short, playlist nightmare, scroll wheel a little too sensitive

Other Thoughts: This was my first MP3 player. I would say that for a basic user who just wants to listen to music and maybe watch a few videos, this player is fine. However, power users will not like it as much. The buttons are extremely thin and hard to press (no, I don't have fat fingers.) The earbuds it comes with are too short, they can't reach into my pocket (I'm 5"8) so the only alternatives are to put the player in my breastpocket or to hold on to it.
Creating playlists is tricky. Seeing as I dont care too much about playlists, this isn't a huge issue for me, but it might be for others. The scroll wheel is a wee-bit sensitive, again, not such big of a deal. The only really annoying issue is the small buttons, although you get used to it after a while as well.
The sound quality is excellent, the colors are sharp. Overall, it's a good player. I got it for $33 on a NewEgg Shell Shocker deal. If it's going for cheap, I would say go ahead and get it. Otherwise you can probably find a better player

Rating + 5 Very pleased

Pros: Small form factor, good build quality. Bright, easy-to read screen and interface. I'm not sure why people don't like the interface, but I find the navigation and menus to be easy to use. The Sansa Media Converter app to import videos works very well. I haven't found anything yet that it couldn't transcode.

Cons: I wish there was a way to toggle fast forward & rewind on/off when watching videos instead of holding down the buttons. This is a very minor quibble. At the price point I'm looking at, I'm lucky the thing plays videos at all.

Other Thoughts: I would buy another of these again.

Rating + 5 Great MP3 Player

Pros: Good sound quality. You might need to invest in some good headphones but it could be worth it. The headphones you get do a fair job. It was easy to set up, since I don't like reading manuals but I was able to set it up without checking instructions in the manual. I was able to add the complete Bible on MP3 and still had at least a 3rd of my memory left back.
The screen is very bright and so far the battery seems to last pretty long.

Cons: Drawbacks.....I wish it had a stop button for the playbacks. It seems you have to pause your music or switch to another music/sound function to stop it; a stop button would have been so much easier.
You have to charge it with your computer, ti would have been nice to have a alternative like ...an AC outlet perhaps.

Other Thoughts: All i all the cons aren't enough to make this player not worth buying I'm sure all players have their quirks and this is going for a very reasonable price. Good value for money!

Rating + 5 Decent Price ATM

Pros: I actually have the 4gb e260 model, which I purchased at a Toys'R'Us for 50 bucks. Seriously.
Great player, great sound........BUT (see cons)

Cons: Worst firmware ever. Period.
However hope is not lost by any means. (see below)

Other Thoughts: If you purchase this, or any other Sansa e200 model (all the same) go to

www.rockbox.org

the second you open this baby and download the custom firmware they have there. Rockbox is an open source project (SUPPORT OPEN SOURCE!!!!!) that caters custom firmwares to many MP3 players. This firmware is action packed.... much richer feature set than Sandisk's fw.
And for those of you who know why this is a good thing, it natively support FLAC(and any other lossless format you throw at it...)

Add to that a skinable UI (many cool ones out there in the community) and the best equalizer you will ever see on a portable device. Period. e200+rockbox = pure audio bliss.

Rating + 2 Look elsewhere, this isn't worth the money

Pros: Pretty screen quality. It does play the music fairly well. When it plays at all.

Cons: 1. I've had multiple errors, including a message that says my subscription has expired that I have not been able to get rid of so far. (even though it was renewed properly)
2. Battery issues on my 6 month old player. Either it's toast already or the thing is turning itself on and running down the battery. Either way, that's bad.
3. 2G isn't enough memory. I wanted video but have given up because I don't even have room enough for most of my music. There's not enough memory for video clips and photos too. And how ever many songs 2G is "supposed" to hold, my player is full with only 160.

Other Thoughts: My two daughters have ipods. They have had zero problems. I've had numerous problems. I didn't think I could afford an ipod with picture capability, so I got this. I wish now I'd saved my money. Most of the time my Sansa has more closely resembled a small brick than an mp3 player.

Rating + 2 Test Micro SD SLOT for malfunction

Pros: Excellent player - expandable memory ... but test your product

Cons: Expandable memory malfunction. We have 6 mp3 players - 4 are sandisk - 3 of the sandisk models have microSD slots (2 are e200). One of the e200 units have a serious problem - the SD card becomes airborne "without notice"! The card has come out several times while in my pocket and on trying to determine if I was doing something wrong I leterally observed the card fly 9 feet across the room after a gentle rub of the card across the ever-so-slightly exposed edge of the card. microSD is too small to find so test your unit right away... dont wait for the warranty to expire to utilize the microSD slot.

Other Thoughts: Supports SDHC .... which means you can have multiple microSD cards up to 8GB each interchanged as you wish.

Test your product as soon as possible - not all units have this faulty SD launcher.

I contacted Sandisk Support just minutes before posting this review.

Rating + 4 Rockbox not for V2

Pros: Very sleek and nice player for the Price.

Cons: ***Just know that if you're buying this with the intention using Rockbox that the V2 model of the e250 doesn't work with Rockbox as of yet.

Most likely you will get a V2 since the V1 are pretty much phased out.

I didn't learn this until I got the item so I figured I should pass it along.

Rating + 4 Decent

Pros: Solid feel, polished appearance, easy to use interface.

Cons: I was sent version 2, and version 2 doen not mount as a USB mass storage device. This is extremely disappointing as I was intending to use it as such. I had to install MTP libraries in my linux installation, and even then it doesn't work quite right. No Roxbox support for version 2 either. If you want to hack this little mp3 player you have to have v1.

Other Thoughts: I would have rated this 5 stars if it was like v1 - a USB mass storage device that I could install Rockbox on. Still happy with it though.

Rating + 5 Nice, versatile, and hackable

Pros: I recently bought a refurbished e250 for really cheap just to play around with and I was very pleasantly surprised. The player has great sound, FM radio, video playback, recording capabilities, and great power management compared to my 2G Ipod nano. This unit also cost much, much less than my 2G Ipod nano and was just a tad bit thicker.

Cons: Only 2GB capacity at the price and it won't take microSDHC cards (4GB and up) natively. This isn't really a big deal as the unit can be hacked using RockBox, which allows it to use microSDHC cards.

Pros: Doesnt feel cheap at all, its design is pretty solid, the scoll whell impressed me, microSD port is always a plus. PRICE!

Cons: BAD AUDIO QUALITY, you cant compare the sq from any cowon product with this sansa, i've never tried the sansa clip which i think the sq is amazing, but this one, the e250 disappointed me badly. screen is not so sharp, you can tell the amount of missing colors or dots on the screen. shuffle mode sucks, as simple as that.

Other Thoughts: I only owned this product for about 2 weeks and i already sold it. if you're really looking for a good sq audio player, please look somewhere else, at least this version of the sansa's family is not for me.

Pros: Sharp display, easy interface, show's up in drive list, dropped it on a concrete floor from 4 feet up without any scratches or other problems.

Cons: Can't play music while charging from computer (can supposedly from car charger)

Other Thoughts: Works best when using"sync" option of Media Player, and/or their conversion software--especially for playlists--even though not required. Great deal for the price.

Pros: Love everything about the Sansa e250. Updated the firmware immediately by downloading the Updater and also downloaded the Sansa Media Converter for pictures and video. Great display, menu system, features, ease of use, looks, size, and sound. Even the earbuds that came with it sounded great but didn't fit my large ears. Construction seems good with a metal back.
Price for the quality and features is hard to beat.

Cons: First day I loaded some MP3s and two photos. While viewing a photo the Sansa locked up on me. The photo was displaying but nothing would turn it off. After a couple of hours I located a jeweler's screwdriver, which was required to take the back off and remove the battery. This reset the player. I sure hope this doesn't happen again.

Earbud cord is about 6" too short for me as I am tall and carry the e250 in my pocket.

Other Thoughts: As usual super fast 3 day delivery and service from NewEgg.

Rating + 5 Fantastic MP3 Sansa e250

Pros: You ever buy something, and after it arrives realize that you just purchased a very great device, well made, easy to work and very intuitive as far as function. Lets just clear up a few bad write ups about this device. First of all if you get the usual package of the more up to date product it is not shipped with a CD disk or decent manual. All of the material is available for download at Sandisk.com. When you get to that website under the little search area, type in Sansa e200 support. Hit the Go button and it will take you to the page where you can download the full manual in PDF format which you can print out. For crying out load download and read it and get educated and realize how many things you don't know about your player. You can also download the product Firmware updater software which will automatically update your device to the latest operation software. Just follow the instructions. Someone in the above reviews said that SanDisk had poor tech support, not true.

Cons: There are no cons. This device even has a FM radio which will even find the presets in your area automatically or you can do them manually. This version which Newegg sells is the latest which is the E250 V2 (version two ) and usually comes with 3.11 firmware which needs to be updated to 3.16 which will also allows you to download audio books from audible.com, and yes you can bookmark, and that was also not reported properly in the above reviews. Video files can be imported to their software converter(download it from their site)or call 1-866-726-3475 for instructions or help and get educated about a very high quality product that is selling for half its susggested retail price. Boy oh boy do I love this little player.

Other Thoughts: Worth every penny that they ask for it at Newegg. Be careful not to buy a refurbished unit as it will probably not be V2 (version two software) which has much more capibilities the the previous version.

Pros: it's cheap but than so is fertilizer.

Cons: it's cheap. Poor support for Linux. Can't upgrade firmware from Linux. Came with old firmware. Headphones were dissapointing. I had the miniclip previously which came with real nice head phones. These headphones look like they came from the dollar tree.

Other Thoughts: VIDEO is garbage. I bought it because it listed all these fancy video formats but... IT DOES NOT support them. The CONVERSION software supports them BIG Difference. I'm running Linux so that leaves me out because the conversion software is only available on Windows. I had the mini clip and it had some problems but I still like it. This player I just don't like. But it was cheap.

Pros: This is the second e250 player I have owned. I dropped and broke my first one. This player is everything it is advertised to be. I has one of the better FM radio players I have used in a small player like this. Lightweight, compact, and powerful. What more can you ask for.

Cons: Be careful of the earphone jack, it is not built for rugged use as the connections seem to bend easily.

Other Thoughts: Thank you NEWEGG once again for your always dependable ordering and shipping services. This was a great buy to replace my old player, and of course you delivered to my doorstep as promised.

Rating + 1 Sansa=Expensive paper weight

Pros: Small, easy to use, clear sound, cheaper than competitiors.

Cons: Hard to load any other media than just MP3s. Bad firmware design. POOR, POOR technical support.

Other Thoughts: I bought this player (Sansa e250) a couple of years ago and it worked great for a while. UNTIL I upgraded to Vista. My computer would not recognize my Sansa correctly, no matter what I did! I found the newest firmware upgrade from SanDisk and installed it on my Sansa and from there on my player has become rendered use less! My Sansa will no longer turn on to the menu. It will just give me an error on boot up or freeze up on me. I own an expensive paper weight. Tech support was not able give me any help. If you dont beleive me just Google "Sansa problems". There are a ton of other people out there with the same problem.

Rating + 3 Almost There

Pros: This product, except for the one problem listed below, I think is awesome for the price. It's in a rugged package, generally works well, sounds good, and is a GREAT price. The blue neon looks cool, graphics is good. Even the voice recorder is reasonably good. Navigation is a bit clunky, but still, not bad.

Cons: I'm on my second one. The first one, the output jack lifted off of the circuit card (out of warranty, so I took it apart to see what happened, now I have extra parts). I thought perhaps I accidentally torqued the audio plug, so I took it as my fault. Bought another one, and like others, seems again like the same problem is coming back. I have to torque the plug to get stereo, or move it around so it's "just right", and then it works.

Other Thoughts: Sansa needs to somehow anchor the audio jack better. I took good care of the second one I bought, and it too is on it's way to the parts bin. I really like everything else on this unit - too bad for this mechanical issue.

Rating + 5 An e- 250 by any other name

Pros: Price.
Very good deal, especially coupled with an extra 2gbyte micro SD card.
Card installed with no problems at all.
Tactile feedback is good for one hand use, this was a key feature for me. Bought this one for myself after purchasing one as a gift a couple weeks ago.

Cons: The unit's box was in its plastic blister pack, but there was no installation CD. Good thing I left the "gift" install on my machine after I had set up the player for the other person. Firmware was an older version than the one I bought for a gift, i.e. no USB config selection until after I was lucky enough to get it connected to my machine and get the Sansa updater to load the latest firmware for me.
The loader firmware is definitely still different than the one I bought a couple weeks ago. Can't tell if its older or newer.

Other Thoughts: I elected not to return the unit, since I had the install already on the machine. I've asked my friend if I can borrow their CD so I can clone a copy for myself. I e-mailed NewEgg customer service but haven't heard back yet.

Pros: Good battery life, good sound. I have had it for 6-ish months and I don't have a complaint about it in terms of hardware. It plays almost anything. The size is awesome, I can toss it in my pocket and know where it is, but I can forget that I have it sometimes. Out of the box, it plays almost everything. the screen is bright enough to use as a flashlight in the dark and it's clear enough to see a full arm's length away.

Cons: The default firmware. It is clunky, slow and doesn't let the scroll wheel light go off. You can upload a version of Rockbox to fix that, though. It didn't play .flac files either, but that was also fixed through installing Rockbox.

Other Thoughts: I originally had purchased it because I could put Rockbox on it. I had tried it out for about a week prior to installing RB and I found that I didn't really like the firmware they had loaded on it by default.

Rating + 5 Awesome player

Pros: Putting music on this thing was a breeze, just use the sync option in Windows Media Player. The FM feature was pretty decent, although I didn't get much use out of it. The recording feature was also nice, the built in microphone had a decent range. Above all else though, this thing was a freaking trooper. Being as clumsy as I am, I dropped it a few times and it didn't break.

Cons: Well, the video playback leaves a little to be desired, but eh, what can you expect from a 2gb player? It does alright for music videos and such, but the sound quality degrades, and the audio can become out of sync with the video if the video is too long. The conversion software was kind of clumsy, I didn't like having to convert all of my .jpg files to something supported by the player.

Other Thoughts: Mine stopped working a little while ago, it fell out of my pocket while I was getting out of my car and the LCD screen cracked. I plan on replacing it now that the price has tanked to $60.

Rating + 5 Good Product, Great Price

Pros: Great price, got it when it was 50% for mothers day. On board OS does everything you want it to. Good screen. Great battery life. 2 gig + 2 gig enough for a normal person probably not for someone use to 6438593234 songs on the ipod. Works with ripped legit CDs she already owns.

Cons: none... other reviews cry it doesn't work with itunes... cry me a river if u buy your music your a scrub. I have lifetime subscription to free music.. I have the INTERNET

Other Thoughts: Mom loves it.

Rating + 5 Great MP3 Player

Pros: Is small enough to make it convenient, but not so small that I am afraid of it getting lost. The display screen is good at displaying pictures and my music videos, even if it is a small screen. Setup was a breeze, as is uploading files.

Cons: No way to stop tracks, but they pretty well make up for it with the auto shutdown feature. Have tried the FM function and had a hard time trying to get the thing off of that and back to the main menu, but that could just be me. Not that it matters to me as I don't really have a need for the FM feature anyway.

Other Thoughts: All in all; this is an excellent little MP3 player for the price. I liked it so well that I bought one for a family member and have recommended it to 2 others.

Rating + 5 Very Pleased

Pros: It does everything advertised! I am particularly pleased with the FM radio. In the canyons of New York City (Manhattan) FM signal strength can be very hard to maintain while moving around. With lesser radios, you get a lot of fading and sudden patches of noise. The Sansa e250 is NOT a lesser radio!

Cons: You will want to upgrade the earphones.

Other Thoughts: Oh, it plays mp3's flawlessly as well. They sound good and are easy to organize.

Rating + 5 Great atlternative for Nano

Pros: I had limited knowledge of MP3 players when I purchased the SanDisk Sansa e250 for my 9 year old who wanted a Nano for X-mas. He was not disappointed. Easy to navigate, download songs (Windows Media Player), bright screen, long battery life and it feels sturdy. FM tuner is a bonus and I liked the idea of additional storage capacity. Have not used movie related features. Earbuds are fine for a 9 year old. Came back to Newegg to get another for my wife for Mother's Day and they're on sale!!!!

Cons: None really...had to upgrade to Windows Media Player 11, but it was easy.

Other Thoughts: I deselected the auto sync option on WMP. Each time I went to download new songs, it would pull all songs/pictures from the library to the device instead of just the drag and drop...

Rating + 5 Great MP3 player

Pros: My first MP3 player was one of the cheap 512MB $15 refurb ones. It worked, but it felt cheap, and it eventually broke after over a year of service and rough treatment. I bought this after reading all the reviews, and it's exactly what I was looking for: inexpensive, in MSC mode it's drag-and-drop from Windows Explorer, long battery life, and it sounds great.

Cons: The default firmware is annoying sometimes; it doesn't correctly auto-detect what albums should be put together, so I have amazing albums that aren't continuous, which makes me sad.

Other Thoughts: If you're even slightly technically inclined, I recommend trying out Rockbox. I've found the battery life gets lessened, but the sound quality is better, and it allows you to easily create m3u playlists, and use them to go through your music in the order you want.

On a side note, why complain about the Shuffle feature? If you really want that, then make a shuffled playlist in Windows Media Player, and then every couple days shuffle the playlist around again. You don't need to buy a new player...

Pros: FM tuner. Recorder. Cheap. Works well with Windows Media Player. Can take music from unlike an ipod

Cons: The cheap earbuds that I came with shocked my ears just about every hour of playback. With different earbuds it worked fine though. Doesn't work with itunes. Takes a while to start up.

Other Thoughts: With my school issued macbook this player was not a good choose because I use Itunes much more than Windows Media Player.

Rating + 2 Shuffle Sucks, Get a Sony!

Pros: Everything else is ok.

Cons: The shuffle on this thing is so annoying. You will never hear all the songs on this. For example on an album with songs it will shuffle like 1,3,2,1 or 1,4,3,1. It plays 4 tracks but repeats some and doesn't play others. So if you have 300 songs on this thing you will hear some over and over and never hear others. I finally got so sick of it that I bought a different brand and gave this one away. On my other one it shuffles flawlessly. You won't hear the song again unless you re shuffle it. I am so much happier now.

Pros: Not an IPOD - Plays movies, audio and you can replace the battery. Being able to use additional storage is a definite plus. Has an fm tuner too.

Cons: Can't put movie files on the expansion flash card all movies have to be located in the default folder on internal storage.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my son. He had a nano for a while but finally sold it because he didn't like itunes and didn't like the ipod interface. He also went through 3 sets of ear buds cause they would always get buzzy. Did much research and the sansa if flat out the best player for the price.

Pros: The build quality of this device is very good. It doesn't feel cheap at all when you hold it and it has some weight to it. It can take a beating and keep working. The screen is easily one of the best i've ever seen on a device this size.

The sound quality is very good, better than a lot of other MP3 players I have used (including Apple's player). The earbuds that come with it are decent but i'd recommend getting a better pair if you really care about sound quality.

The video playback is pretty solid as well. It's not going to blow you away or anything, but it gets the job done. The only problem I have with it is the files have to be in the terrible .mov format.

I don't use it very often but the FM tuner works very well and it gets amazing reception. It really surprised me.

Sandisk also did a very good job with the navigation menu. Very simple to navigate and it looks very nice.

Oh and I almost forgot, it's got AMAZING battery life.

Cons: Not very many. Really the only things I don't like are the fact that movies must be in the .mov format and the navigation wheel can be a bit tricky at times. Other than that it is a flawless player.

Other Thoughts: This thing is amazing. If you want a good alternative to a nano for a good price look no further.

I dropped this thing in a puddle of water getting out of my car and i didn't notice until 4 hours later. i got the player and let it dry out and it STILL WORKS. Great job Sandisk.

Rating + 5 Great value

Pros: It's an mp3 player. If you're still using a CD player, you should definately pick up one of these instead. The storage may seem a bit low, but with the option of adding a microSD card, you really have infinate storage space. This player works great, and has a nice menu. What else do you need to know? I bought another for my brother, and he loves it too.

Cons: Very rarely, a song might not transfer correctly and show up as unknown. If you delete it, and transfer it again, it works just fine. Just a minor incovenience. The power cord only connects to your computer for charging. I wish they had included a cord that you can plug into a standard outlet. One last thing, that's not really a con, but the one I bought for my brother came with a 2 month unlimited access trial of Rhapsody. I bought mine a while ago, so I didn't get any extra goodies like that. Luckily though, he shares his account with me, so it's all good.

Other Thoughts: Bought one for myself over a year ago, and have loved it ever since. It's so much more convenient than keeping a bunch of overpriced CDs laying around, and swapping them out to hear different artists.

Rating + 4 Great Player For the Money

Pros: It is small, but the screen is not too small. It plays many formats. Works with my FM broadcaster to play in my car, house, or wherever. With the expansion slot, I get all the storage I need.

Cons: Early on, had some problems getting it to connect to computer and it was locking up on occasion. After updating firmware and to Windows Media Player 11, I have had no problems. The headphones included are not the best.

Other Thoughts: I would not watch a full movie on this, but video clips are fine. It plays music well. I do not agree with many reviews about the selector dial. I find it works just fine and not too difficult to get use to navigating.

Rating + 5 Rhapsody and Mp3

Pros: Plays music, video and pictures. Small and lightweight.Fits in your pocket. Holds hundreds of songs. Works with Rhapsody and Mp3 and plays them both. Battery life is about 20hrs. I left in on for 18hrs and it was still working.

Cons: Like all Mp3 players the butons are a little hard to work with clumsey hands.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a portiable CD player.Got tired of carying a bunch of disk and the big player. Put 85 songs on here from both Rhapsody and Mp3 and haven't skipped a beat yet. It comes with Sansa Media Converter. Just drop your pictures and video in it and it will convert them and put them on the player. My next project will be to put my CD collection on it and the expansion card.

Rating + 5 Great Player

Pros: Cool blue disk, compact, 2 GB is enough for me.

Cons: Occasionally (and I mean occasionally) a song transferred to it will now transfer properly. I had 2 out of many show up as 'Unknown" and wouldn't play. But, I transferred another version of the song and it worked, so perhaps it was a corrupt MP3, who knows.

Other Thoughts: The reviewer a few below me knocked this player for what seems like a lack of technical understanding. Claims that the "movie" took all 2 GB and he can't find it. Well, if you want to put a movie on your player, better go with something higher than a 2 GB (common sense). I put a video clip of my daughter playing guitar on it, and the software converted it perfectly and found it right away. It even played it widescreen. I for one must recommend this player. Comparing it to my wife's Ipod, the only difference is this one is more user-friendly, and the Ipod is more expensive.

Pros: Very nice look and feel. Super bright screen and great battery life. Held all of my dads music collection at wmp 168k bitrate!

Cons: The only part that feels a little cheap is the circle that scrolls through songs. Still, I like it better than the iPod touch-sensitive pad, because this is more accurate.

Other Thoughts: Only used it for photos and music so far, but it is a great product!!!! My dad loves it so much and I'm getting ready to order my mother one! I would definitely buy this before I bought an iPod.

Rating + 3 Fine product .. not excellent

Pros: - miniSD slot (reason why I buy it)
- can listening to the music while the player is charging (even though the manuel said no)
- decent power consumption ... It used only 1/4 of the power after running the voice recording in 3 hrs.

Cons: - must use the program to convert video clips into mov format, and cannot read the video from the mini-SD
- the player is hung up when transferring voice recorded file from the player to the computers
- The player does not have a command for transferring files between the player and the miniSD. You need to do it via the PC as the middle-man
- must need a PC to do the battery charging (unless you buy the USB kit from the electronic store for charging purpose)

Other Thoughts: The voice recording is in wav format on mono quality. It would be nice if it has the "line-in" feature for recording. Though 4hrs memory space is sufficient to do the recording

Rating + 5 Upgradeable at a great price

Pros: Supports pictures, video, and several music formats. Supports Rockbox third-party firmware allowing for games plugins and various different media formats such as AAC and AVI files. Allows for easy memory expansion via a MicroSD card. Supports files either synced from Windows Media Player or via drag-and-drop. Scratch-resistant finish, and a decent selection of third-party cases and addon's (such as FM transmitters and usb adapters).

Cons: Lacking in overall storage space. 2GB is a bit small considering the capacity of many mp3 players on the market. Shorter battery life than I expected (needs to be recharged after a day of relatively-full usage). Proprietary USB cable.

Other Thoughts: I bought this player because of the great price, easy expansion, the full-color LCD screen, and for drag-and-drop when adding music. With Rockbox added it's an excellent media device, but on it's own it has many features worth recommending. Having expanded the onboard memory via MicroSD, this player supports all of the media I could ask for and works great in both XP and linux.

Cons: The display cracked after a couple of months on the inside. I didn't drop it or anything it just appeared. The unit started locking up more and more as time went on. I had to pull the battery out to reset the unit. Now it no longer is found by Windows XP. So I am stuck with what is on it. I called their tec support and they were no help at all.

Pros: I got this MP3 player because it had all that I wanted: plays music, video files and has an FM tuner. It delivers on all of them.
The software for putting video on the player is very simple and straight forward and Ive had no problems with. The screen is good for watching movie files and looks as well as it could on the display.

Cons: Has crashed one or two times when trying to play video files.
The FM tuner/antenna isnt all that good for reception. Other radios can pick up certain stations no problem but with this I get static alot.

Other Thoughts: A great media player for the price. Pros out weigh the cons by far.

Rating + 3 Should have bought the 4 Gig

Pros: Works great, plays DRM, seems very rugged/durable (haven't had to test that yet) unit specific accessories are available has basically everything I want, but it (at least mine) has a couple of Problems...

Cons: I bought the 2 Gig instead of the 4 with the intention of using the 2 gig Micro SD Chips I all ready had. Ive tried a few chips and have the same problem every time, If I load a few songs onto the chip it has no problem, Unit catalogs and adds them to library, if I fill even less than 25% of the Micro SD the unit gets stuck in a catalog/reload loop. Also its possible to crash this thing, push any of the buttons too fast and it will lock up and as there is no physical on/off switch you have to unscrew the case and remove/replace the battery.

Other Thoughts: All in all pretty happy with it, I just would have bought a larger one had I realized the micro SD's wouldn't work very well

Rating + 5 Works with Linux/Ubuntu

Pros: I did a lot of research and product comparisons and by far found this product to be the greatest value with regard to price and features. But here's the big thing for me: it works with Linux! I'm using Ubuntu 7.04 and as soon as I plugged it in the USB port, an icon appeared on my desktop. The Sansa functions like any other drive; I can copy files to *and* from the drive. Sansa was good enough to pre-install some sample music and I can copy from the mp3 files to my local disk. This was not possible using Windows and its stupid DRM restrictions.

Overall, the unit feels solid (the back is metal and feels hefty but not too heavy), the UI seems intuitive enough and the sound is excellent using a pair of Koss headphones I purchased separately (they were about $30, or so.) The display is crisp and bright.

Cons: 1. The USB cable is proprietary. Not a big issue, but I bought an extra one just in case I lose the first. 2. No AC charging adapter; it charges from the USB cable. Again, it's a perfectly valid configuration but I bought an AC adapter separately. 3. The supplied ear buds look solid and sound good but are too big for my ears and keep falling out. But this is typical with me for most ear buds. 4. A little weirdness with the USB/Linux connection: after it connects it displays a message that says "writing" when none is going on. Maybe that requires a firmware update, but no big deal because it otherwise functions perfectly.

Other Thoughts: I had a 3 year old Rio S11 prior to this and loved it. Technology certainly has progressed in those years. If you're on the fence about upgrading without going overboard, this may be the one for you.

Rating + 4 Good Product, Satisified

Pros: Ok, lets start out with options
This thing has got everything under the sun, an FM radio with the ability to record music from the radio, a replaceable, rechargeable. The design of the thumb wheel is great, very easy to use. The blue light is a nice touch. The stock San Disk firmware has plenty of options, and doesn't look bad while doing it. It also has the ability to use RockBox, which I am using. RockBox gives me the ability to play games, gameboy roms, enhanced sound quality management, and custom UI. MicroSD expansion is great.

Cons: Sound quaility is good, but can indeed be improved. It outputs between 60Hz and 12KHz, which is a very narrow range. With the stock headphones and the volume up past 80% ish it sounds horrible unless you reduce bass and treble to the point it where it would sound horridly flat at any other volume level. I believe the stock earbuds may be partially at fault to the shotty sound, so I will replacing them with some nice canal phones with a higher SNR. Other cons include the buttons being to small, especially if you have protective case. The shiny lacquer finish looks great but it gets fingerprints easy. 2GB memory doesn't hold 500 songs, it only held around 275 for me. FYI 2GB rated is actually 1.8GB ish.

Other Thoughts: DIVX support is coming to replace the current MOV format for video which is bloated and takes up around 1GB for a single low quality movie. Also, JPG pictures need to be converted.

Rating + 3 No File System

Pros: This is the first mp3 player I ever bought/owned in my life. It looks really good. I love the hold feature. It is easy to connect to my PC. Size is great. Buttons/interface is great. Nice pouch for protection.

Cons: Takes forever to load when turned on & play vids. No folder file system. Itll sort according to the file properties info you specify in Windows. The folder for the mp3 files is hidden, so you have to show hidden folders to see it when you want to drag your mp3s into it. You cant drag/drop image or movie files into it. You must install an app into your PC that converts your image and movie files into files specifically for the player. Movie files can only be a specific size. Therefore, if you put a full film in there, the converter application will chop it into about 6 sections (mov files). For audio, mp3 is the best file type IMO. Small, and high quality. For video, avi is the best for small size and high quality. When that convert app converts your avi files into mov files, they actually become larger even though the picture quality needs to go down for the Sansa screen. One time, I transferred a film into it. It chopped it into 5 parts, but #4 never showed up. Baffling.

Other Thoughts: Sometimes I play a video, and there is no way to stop it without turning the whole unit off. You cant stop music or radio from playing. It keeps playing no matter what menu you go to. You can pause or mute, but you cant stop. It also turns converted files sideways. Why not just keep the file straight, and allow the player to play them sideways? I want the exact same thing with faster load time, plays avi and mp3 files standard without chopping up videos. Allows you to stop your music. Works properly. Does not need you to convert any files. Allows you to drag and drop your mp3, avi, and image files. Most of all, has a file system that allows you to name your folders, and files.

Pros: The day I got this product I loved it I added at lest 100 songs, but the promblem was I couldnt delete the songs that cam on it. So I didnt realy like it. The more I listend to it I loved it more. YOU should totaly get this ,but get a case with it to protect it from scraches and to make it clean . I got one of the combos from new egg.YOu must Have THE WARENTY.......

Cons: It doesnt work its my second day with it I wake up to listen to it and it does the sandisk then it goes white and blanks out...,. still trying to fix it.
The first thing you do is delete the old songs are you will be listening to them for the rest of your life..... The way the music plays it goes by the first letter of the song not the band and you cant change it.

Rating + 4 Excellent player BUT

Pros: Very small, big screen, lightweight. Plays MP3, WMA, video, pics, and FM tuner. Replaceable rechargable Li-Ion battery. Charges via USB. (2) connection modes, one acts as a sync in windows media player, the other acts like a removable hard disk. 2GB is well more then enough for me. It has a MiniSD slot for expansion. Voice recording and FM capture. Back is metal. Somewhat timely response from customer support email system.

Cons: And then... I have a protective case for it but i accidentally scratched the faceplate. I emailed Sandisk and they DO NOT sell or provide replacement faceplates. If the look of the mp3 player is one of your top items then either take it out of the box into a case that you will never take it out of or get a different brand that does replace their faceplates.

Other Thoughts: Accessories are out there but the face that you cannot find a replacement for the stock faceplate burns my hide.

Rating + 5 Great little Player

Pros: Great Sound Quaility. The player itself looks fantastic. The images on the screen are crisp and bright. Great battery life. Offers alot more features that the Nano. Syncs right up with Windows Media Player 10. My girlfriend loves it!!!

Cons: The scroll wheel is very touchy. It is a little hard to get used to the navigation, but my girlfriend seems to be getting the hang of it.

Other Thoughts: This is a great player for anyone who does not want to pay $80 more for a Nano. My girlfriend has been getting alot of complments on the player, even from people who own Nanos. If you want a different player from everyone else with an iPod get this. You will not be disappointed.

Rating + 5 Elegant Unit

Pros: Sleek, elegant, and classy looking player which I've owned now for about 3 months. The size of a credit card but 1/2 inch thick. Well built and sturdy. If you dropped it chances are nothing would happen because of how solid it's made. Metal back is attached with screws. Adjustable brightness display is clear and easy to read. Navigation of music couldn't be easier. I usually go by album title and I am off and running. The Sansa e250 easily syncronized with Windows Media Player. I dragged and dropped albums from library into Sync window. FM radio with the record feature makes recording music on the fly a snap. Didn't buy it to watch videos or look at pictures so can't comment on that. I have had great success with the earbuds. They fit me with no problem and sound great. There is more than enough volume to hear the music, most of the time half-way is plenty. The scroll wheel works perfectly. The buttons are easy enough to push even with my big fingers.

Cons: Rhapsody. Trying to sync with this music source was frustrating. I will not blame the Sansa for this, however.

Other Thoughts: I have used the voice recorder a few times and it also works just fine. (BTW- I have never once accidently bumped the record button by mistake and turned it on. Never had a lock-up or freeze-up). Excellent battery life; plays hours and hours without recharging.
If you are reading these reviews to help you make a decision, please keep in mind that any electronic device has a learning curve. They all have their own minor quirks that you get used to after a couple of times playing with it. I have seen my 7 yr. old son do things with elec. devices that blows me away. A little tenacity goes a long way. Nit-picking a device because it doesn't do what another one did isn't really fair. You could do that all day long. There are pluses and minuses with everything. Buy the e250 and enjoy this awesome unit.

Rating + 3 MicroSD slot dubious

Pros: Small. Solid construction (except for wheel). User-replaceable battery. Compatible with Rhapsody (sort-of).

Cons: VERY slow sync times (it claims to be USB 2.0 but takes on the order of 30 minutes to sync!). Slow boot time. Cheap plastic scroll ring. UI just OK (not great). Poor power button placement. Proprietary charge/sync connector.

Other Thoughts: RHAPSODY WARNING: According to Rhapsody's official support knowledge base, Rhapsody CANNONT use any memory in the MicroSD slot, even in the e2xxR Rhapsody-specific Sansas! So the MicroSD slot is of dubious value to Rhapsody users.

Rating + 5 Great Music Player!

Pros: I have owned this player for about six months, and have been extremely happy with it. It holds lots of music in either MP3 or WMA formats (DRM or non-), and you can copy directly to the unit w/o using special software (though you can still use WMP or others if you want). Nice bright color screen. My favorite feature is that you can insert micro-SD cards to add more storage. I have my "core" music collection on the internal memory, then separate chips for Classical, Jazz, Christmas music... It is easy to change music based on my mood! Also, you can replace the battery yourself -- with Apple, you have to send it to them, and you will probably get a different, refurbished unit back from them. Sound quality is great! No noticeable differences from the Nano.

Cons: 1) Boot time: takes 10 - 15 second to boot, longer if you have a chip. BUT, though the Nano boots immediately, it uses battery charge to stay in sleep mode; the Sansa is just off with no battery drain.
2) The control wheel is not near as nice as the Nano wheel, and the buttons are small and difficult to press. I've gotten used to it, but still, Apple wins hands down on this feature.

Other Thoughts: I did my MBA Marketing project on the Sansa, so I've done a lot of research on this product and its main competitors. If you go with a Sansa, you will get a lot more player for the money compared to the Nano. If style and name recognition are your first priorities, you will buy an Apple Nano. If you want a great player for less money, you won't find a better choice than the Sansa.

Pros: Way more featured than an iPod (FM Radio, Recording etc..). Looks very sleak. Great quality. And amazing technical support. You can also add space to it by using a Micro SD Card. Great Price

Cons: The firmware is kind of buggy. It can be fixed though by updating it.

Other Thoughts: Overall I would recommend this over an iPOD no questions asked

Rating + 3 Good player

Pros: While mine was working it loved it. The interface is easy to navigate, you don't need a seconday program to put music on it, and its battery life and charge times were great (2 hours would get me about 14 hours of play)

Cons: I bought this player to replace my old sandisk mp3, which developed a headphone problem that caused the left speaker to go dead without constant presure. Well this player developed the same problem within 4 months. I'm not sure if i just got a unlucky or this is a constant problem with sandisk products. I also didn't like that you couldn't access music by folder, making it very hard to listen to individual songs without a playlist (not a big deal).

Other Thoughts: When i bought this i thought 2gb would be enough, i was wrong. If anything go for the 8gb for just a little bit more. Although now that this is busted I'm glad i didn't waste the money. Now i have a tough choice, give sandisk one more try or go to apple. -_-

Pros: Works great. Does what it's suppose to do. The software interface is very easy to use.

Cons: I had left my USB cable at home while I was away at college and looked everywhere for a replacement and came up unsuccessful. Parts for it were really difficult to get a hold of.

Another thing is that there is a button on the side for automatic voice recording. Too often, I will be listening to my music while working out and hit that button as I attempt to ajust the volume. Its a pain to stop and have to tell the player to stop recording and revert back to the music section...and the song you were listening to, you have to search for it again b/c it goes back to the top of the list.

Other Thoughts: ip*ods, are waayyy over priced as we all well know, but if you're looking for something that has numerous accessories for your player i'd go ip*od. But, if you're like me and hate ipod this isn't a bad way to go. Overall I've been really happy.

Rating + 5 An Excellent iPod Nano Alternative

Pros: Nice-looking piano black case with a liquid-metal back, plays videos, music, and views images, can record FM radio and voice, great sound quality, the spin-wheel which everyone loves, user-friendly interface, nice screen

Cons: Has a few bugs that need to be fixed, case gets scratched pretty easily

Other Thoughts: The Sansa e250 is a great portable media player. No, I didn't call it an MP3 player because it doesn't play only MP3s. You can use the e250 to play movies, view images, and listen to music, of course.

The e250 is overall a great portable media device and is a better value than the iPod Nano.

Rating + 5 Wonderful mp3 player overall

Pros: It works great so far; I haven't had any problems with it! The scroll wheel doesn't feel cheap like some people have said. I've not had any problems creating multiple playlists either like some people have. Navigation is simple to use and learn; I only had to check the user manual twice to see how to do something. The video/photo conversion software has worked perfectly so far. I use a combination of WMP 11(MTP mode) and drag and drop(MSC mode) to transfer files and sync music; both ways work perfectly. I'd rate the audio quality a 4 out of 5. The EQ presets actually sound somewhat good. Beautiful 220x176 display. Some of my video files I put on my sansa (chapters ripped from a dvd) play in sequential order so I can watch an entire video that's been split into 4 files without any interruptions except a blank screen for a second or two while the next file loads; I was thrilled about this since the sansa doesn't support video playlists.

Cons: Issues I already knew about before buying:
1. Video files have to be converted into large MOV files in order to be played back.
2. Volume resets to 50% when you turn on the player.
3. When using the scroll wheel, sometimes the higlighted menu item will suddenly "jump" to the next menu item.
4. Startup time for player is slow (15 seconds).
5. Can't playback videos/photos from the microSD card.

Issues I discovered after purchasing:
1. Custom EQ can cause audio distortion fairly easily. I was dissapointed, but was able to get it sounding decent after 5-10 minutes. Maybe with high-end headphones the custom EQ will provide better sound.
2. The sansa doesn't use the EQ for video playback and the audio quality for videos is not great.
3. Voice and FM recordings don't utilize the EQ either unless taken off the player, converted to mp3 or wma, and put back on.
4. Fast forward is much too slow for long audio tracks.

Other Thoughts: I researched the sansa e250 a LOT before deciding to get one, including reading literally hundreds of reviews on several websites. I rated the Sansa a 5 because overall it performed as I had expected it to, the issues I didn't expect have been minor, and I've not had any freezing/firmware problems with the player so far. In my opinion the amount of features and the quality for the current price (as of 3/18/07) made the Sansa e250 a great buy. I'm very happy with my purchase! Yay Newegg!

Rating + 4 I bought it and I like it

Pros: The overall feel and build quality is pretty nice. The screen is very nice, vibrant and still visible outside. The menu system works well and after a little bit of experience is quite easy to navigate. Adding music and files is pretty simple as long as you have a basic understanding of how drag files into the folder (der!). When new files are added, it automatically sorts them on the player. Customizable and preset EQ's are available. Availble microSD slot to expand memory is definately a plus. FM radio is no longer auto and you can manually go through frequencies per tenth. Sound recording works well. The battery does last for a good length of time. The longest i've had it on before recharging was 13hrs and I use it quite a bit. If I just used it for listening to music I'm sure it would go longer, but overall the battery life is about where it should be considering the competition. Plus, the batttery can simply replaced with relative ease and cost.

Cons: As most mentioned, finger prints can be left all over it. But I expected that and is nothing short of most other players. It is septible to scratches so if your careless it will happen. It can be a pain to convert video files since they have to be quicktime format. The OEM headbuds aren't worth keeping. They hurt my ears and are awkward for fitting. The wheelscroll takes away from the overall good quality, but is still very functional and works good. Not as bad as i thought it was going to be, but it could be better. The directional buttons are very close to the wheel scroll, and if you have big fingers you may find them hard to press.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm very pleased with it and I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for an alternative to the ipod. Buy new headphones!! Your experience will be much better with different phones! It really is everything I expected it to be and more. I believe compared to its market rivals this one is the best of the bunch. Its very stylish and the build quality is right on spot. The firmware updates have been improving it since day one and I expect it only to get better.

Pros: This is an excellent product i bought this and an ipod 2 gb nano the scandisk is way better than the i-junk . The sand disk is of way better quality and way more features with video the pod dont play video the music quality is better than the pods and this was less money, excellent warranty

Cons: software is a little buggy some times due to the learning curve but overall its just alittle more complicated to learn to operate the software but well worth it .

Other Thoughts: I was listening to this and bent the headphone plug inside the body while i was carrying a 125 lb package the scandisk was in my front pocket with the package pushing against it .needless to say it took a lot to damage it scandisk rma me a new one and even paid shipping on it both ways they do that up to a year after you register it at scandisk they have an excellent warranty I know I went through it first hand and it was my fault it broke

Rating + 5 Very Nice

Pros: Very light. Very nice looking CD. Stylish design. Good menu options. FM radio and voice recorder may be useful for some. Video looks awesome (probably because a lot of videos have resolutions larger than the resolution of the screen, although that isn't bad in any way.)

Cons: My wife had this in her purse and scratched the screen!! She had it next to her keys so probably her fault, but ya never know. Disk size isn't very big. I hope technology with catch up with demand soon and they will have very large flash drives in the next couple years (at least 10gb, if not 20 or 30). The larger 30gb MP3/MP4 players have regular HDs in them so they could be smaller/lighter. But again this is nobody's fault.

Other Thoughts: We bought 2 of these for gifts for my wife's friend and her little brother. Didn't get to use it for more than a couple days for her little brother to put music and videos on it. So I can't pass too much judgement because I didn't get to play with it very long.

Pros: Software included to encode video works fine, though you have to look for the files when you are connected as a memory device. Video is sharp with good sound. The menu system is easy to navigate. The FM is a bonus.

Cons: requires winxp for connection as a media device.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my 13yr old sister as an alternative to an IPOD that she could not figure out. I think she gets more use out of the FM radio than anything. For the price, you cant beat it.

Rating + 3 Okay, but the firmware needs work

Pros: * Mass storage mode (no special software required to load music)
* Expandable memory (microSD slot)
* Nice screen

Cons: * Software is flaky - it freezes up on me at least a few times a week
* Only allows organization by ID3 tags - not by folder structure
* Video & photo stuff is only for certain formats & requires software to convert to compatible format

Other Thoughts: If you plan to use this primarily for podcasts, I'd recommend looking for a player that can organize by folders instead of ID3. If you primarily play music, this is a decent player, especially f/when they release a new firmware that fixes the freezing problems.

Rating + 4 fairly good

Pros: The size is perfect, it feels good in your hands and has a good weight to it.The screen is bright and crisp, navigation is simple, fm tuner and recording capabilities, the scroll feels good, micro sd expansion, plus video and photos!!!

Cons: it only has a few flaws. 1st and its a big one the scroll wheel feels cheap and loose although it works flawlessly.it only supports .mov for video and bmp for photos.the placement of the rec button causes you to press it by mistake.the include software is a little buggy it caused my pc to crash a couple times when trying to convert .wmv video.no ac adapter included but that's no really a con

Other Thoughts: oh my lord the screen is gorgeous far better than the
nano.
although video isnt its strong suite its a nice touch.almost scratch resistant.Supports both MSC and MTP mode.the scroll wheels keeps it from hardware greatness!!the blue led is a nice touch. its like the scroll wheel was an after thought.
the sound is rich and clear comparable to the nano. besides the wheel this product get a five but the nav buttons are good
and maybe its just me but i cant stop a song only pause.this thing is a nano killer specs vs price no comparison.I know the're some FRUIT GUYS that would disagree but the e250 doesn't need defending.P.S. this is the best small NON FRUIT Player out there!!!!!!!!!
