Cons: the only thing i didn't like was that it takes sometime to put music in it.i had 1.5 GB of music and it took about half hour.but the bright side was it was chraging at the same time.

Outstanding unit!
Pros: This does everything I expected and more: FM, voice, line in, jpg, video (including native Youtube .flv files!), micro SD card for expansion, EQ/SRS. You can connect it as a USB drive, which makes file management a snap, but it even has a built-in file manager! Good sized sharp screen. I believe you can charge it from an AC outlet with a USB wall wart, though I haven't tried it. (Our Zen requires charging by a PC with Creative's software installed! Real convenient when traveling--NOT.)
I VERY rarely give a product five stars, but this unit amazes me. And the price makes it a no-brainer. A delight to find technology that does what it's supposed to these days.
Cons: The manual was pointless, but that's true of nearly everything these days. (The pdf is better.) I had some trouble with the PC recognizing it as a USB drive until I switched the mode from MTP to MSC.
I recommend reading the pdf (I didn't at first, but I still figured most things out).
Other Thoughts: We haven't had it long, so I can't speak to reliability. It was a gift for my teenage daughter. She loves it!

POOR QUALITY, POOR CUSTOMER SVC
Pros: Works with Raphsody. Easy to use.
Cons: Breaks down often. Lack of Customer service and Tech Support. Costly returns for repairs. The devise is inoperable more often than not. If you have a lot of time on your hands to call and send endless emails, if your do not mind paying good money on a poor product, if you believe that an MP3 is a disposable product and should be replaced annually, this device is for you.
Other Thoughts: I would strongly discourage purchasing the product. Though I was totally satisfied initially, within a matter of months the device began to exhibit problems. After weeks of calls and constant email follow-ups, the company allowed me to return the device for repair. The company kept the devise for weeks and when it was returned, there was a large crack on the bottom of the devise. The player worked again and I was pleased…….until. Fourteen months after the purchase and only a couple of months after the company repaired, it broke again. Because it was out of warranty at that time, I was out of luck. I am now looking for a better product with better customer service and better technical support. I am looking for a device that will last longer than fourteen months.

Great Eggperience Once Again!
Pros: I am pleased with the iRiver overall. I also have a Sansa Fuze. The Fuze has a better feel and seems to be of higher quality build. Sturdier is the word I guess. The sound quality on the iRiver is good. Many ways to customize to your liking. I prolly shouldn't tell this but, for a couple days I though something was wrong with the iRiver or I was losing my hearing. I turned it up all the way and it was not loud enough. So, I plugged my Skullcandy Smokin' Buds into the Fuze. Same result. not loud enough. After much thinking and trying to resolve the problem and hoping I wasn't losing mmy hearing. I remembered there was an inline volume control on the phones. I'm glad there wasn't a problem with either player or my hearing. I am a little worried about my mind though. I did just turn 60 last year. That's probably the problem. A mind is a terrible thing to lose.
Cons: None

Nice budget player, but it isn't perfect.
Pros: For a budget player, it has some nice features. The built in speakers, while not amazing, are pretty cool and come in handy for multi-person listening. The micro SD slot is also really cool, especially since 8 GB cards are pretty cheap now. Sounds quality isn't bad, and it comes with pretty much all of the feature you'd expect from a quality player.
Cons: Navigating the player is a bit odd at first, and until you get used to it, you'll be very confused. The instruction booklet is almost useless, so you'll have to read the pdf that comes on the CD in the package if you really want to know how to use it. It took me nearly an hour to figure out how to turn on the shuffle. Scrolling through and switching songs is also a bit on the slow side.
Other Thoughts: I only paid $60 for mine, and it came with free shipping. At that price, it's a pretty good deal. If you don't have a lot of music, and you want something a little cheaper than an iPod or a Zune, this isn't a bad choice. If you're incredibly impatient, I wouldn't recommend this player. Otherwise, I would.

Nice MP3 player---to bad it doesn't work
Pros: Nice MP3 player, large screen and features for price.
Cons: Software . . . iriver really failed consumer and what could have been a find product. Despite repeated and varied attempts, couldn't get iriver programs to recognize device rendering it an expensive radio. Very disappointing---especially as this was a Christmas gift for 11 year old.

Finally Working
Pros: Great price for a 4GB player. Looks good. Works fine once you finally figure it out.
Cons: Very difficult to get working with the software. PC and software would not recognize player. To get it to work I had to: (1) Change the default connection, MTS did not work. (2) Manually load the driver, disk install did not work. (3) upgrade Firmware to 1.10. Firmware 1.13 locked up the device and it had to be reset. (4) Plug directly into motherboard or USB PCI card, does not work from USB hub.
NO USEFUL SUPPORT - their website is useless and they did not respond to emails.
Other Thoughts: I also own a 2GB Creative ZEN. It is much easier to use. It's software is superior and is simply plug and play. This may actually be a decent product. It is working now and I like it, but iRiver really needs to improve their support and software. A quick search of the internet will show how many other customers had to work through the same issues without assistance.

solid full featured player recorder
Pros: this is our second e100. with the price drop its a great deal. the card slot handles up to 8gb chips. the screen is nice, lots of settings and options can be modified to tweak the device to your preferences.
the line in recorder is a huge benefit for me. i use it to record church sermons. many may call it a poor man's ipod, but this unit is much more capable. a popular auction website has tons of cheap accessories made to fit the e100.
support for FLAC is really cool. i opted wma and mp3 however to conserve space. people that have the 8gb would probably love FLAC format.
iRiver Plus handles ripping really well. info lookups, conversion and trasfer are easy. management of playlists and files is pretty straightforward.
Cons: occasionally, the date/time goes nuts and resets to a random future date. the iriver software is decent but not great. you can use media player if you dont like iRiver Plus 3. the device can display lyrics, but i havent figured out how to add the lyrics to the songs yet.
the only other oddity, is occasionly the device will hiccup. play a few seconds and stall, play a few and stall. this is minor and only needs to be reset using the hole on the side. over 11months, this has happened maybe three times, twice on a bad fireware.
iRiver Plus handles album art but it doesnt grab it automaticly from the info lookup.
Other Thoughts: the latest firmware added a "study" mode. not sure what it does, but it shows that iRiver continues to improve its products well after the initial release.
movies are tricky since they have to run through the iRiver converter. its not that big of a deal, but keep it in mind if you plan to use it as a mini-movie player. we loaded a ton of veggie tales movies onto the sd card and i can watch..err..the kiddo can watch them whenever he wants.

Pretty good
Pros: Tons of features: Music. video, text, radio, recordings, even "eBooks"... comes with its own built-in speakers in case you lose your headphones. Sound quality is pretty good overall. Good value for the price. Videos are a little picky, but at least it works for this price. Rechargeable battery is way better than swapping out AAA's every week. Comes with tinny sounding headphones, but they sound better than the iPxx's. Screen looks really pretty, a little glossy too. I prefer the tactile feedback and general feel of the 4 way compass buttons anyday. You can actually use this player without looking at the screen, a big plus to me. the radio reception isn't garbage either, it works quite well. The microSD slot gives you way more capacity for almost nothing. microSD media is dirt cheap now, so you could swap cards out like CDs. The actual player is the perfect size: I don't feel like I'll snap it in half, but it's not too big either.
Cons: Very slow interface. I loaded it with 800 or so songs and it took about an hour just to transfer [on a USB 2.0 port!]. Locks up when you try to play all of the songs in one big playlist. The interface is sort of unintuitive sometimes, as in, you think a button press will do something obvious, when it does the exact opposite. [Think the right button skips to the next track? Wrong, it opens play options, BUT only when you hold it down a few seconds...] This player obviously needs another button for menu functions, or a better navigation method. The player doesn't always read ID3 tags correctly either. Plus, you need to "integrate" album art into each song instead of just including a .jpg in the folder [like Winamp does]. So, be prepared to stare at a mostly black screen that says "Image Not Available" while playing your songs. iriver could have at least included a default image so SOMETHING is displayed.
Other Thoughts: Overall, this player is pretty good, especially for the sale price of $60 I got it for. It looks sexy, sounds good, but has major performance issues. Transfers take too long, menu navigation is too slow, with obvious delays between screens [sometimes 5 seconds or more]. The software is absolutely useless. I don't mean that it's not good at what it does, I mean it doesn't work at ALL. It can't even detect the player, even after I connected it to multiple ports. Winamp and WMP see it with no problem though. Although, neither program can delete songs [I'm assuming only iriver's software SHOULD do that, but it can't do ANYTHING except play songs off my computer.] Overall, I give this player 4 stars because it has so many features at such a low price, with a relatively high [and expandable] memory capacity. However, the menus really need an overhaul with a firmware update, performance is slow, and the software is pretty useless. [I ended up just using Explorer.]

Great Product
Pros: I got the 8GB version, so it's more than I need for all the music I will listen to. Nice lightweight, small, compact size and feels nice. Excellent sound quality and very easy to use the iRiver Plus 3 to just drop music into the player. Nice large screen with easy to use interface for navigating music and various options.
Cons: Loose "lid" or "cap" on the USB spot of the device, it opens easily. First time I tried to upgrade firmware version it froze and I had to reset it, but didn't bother to try upgrading again. Sometimes is a little unresponsive with clicks but nothing that will bother you at all.
Other Thoughts: I got the 8GB version from somewhere else for $59. The 4gb is $95 on here, so that was confusing....but it is a great product so if you are a strict newegger it would be a good purchase.

iriver e100
Pros: radio, video, pictures, comes with a video converter, small and thin but doesn't feel cheap, expandable memory
Cons: my first one froze as soon as i inserted the micro SD card but i sent it back and they sent a new one right back, software doesn't work, a bit slow
Other Thoughts: 4GB isnt that much but if you get an 8Gb micro sd card you can have 12GB and its still 1 dollar less then the 8GB e100
