Excellent Little Player-Good Value
Pros: Great little player. Very responsive, tiny player with full video capability. The new Microsoft Zune 4.0 PC software is much more responsive than the older software. And now, it has videos in the Zune Marketplace. The Zune pass is a great deal. The screen is very nice, with a crystal clear glass faceplate that's much more scratch resistant than the ip*ds. The screen is larger than the competition's small player, and videos are watched with the player turned "sideways" for a larger sized screen. Excellent sound with a good pair of earbuds.
Cons: The earphones are rather cheap, but so are every other player's standard offering. I got a cheap, great sounding pair of Sennheiser's CX300, and they sound great.
No graphic equalizer setting, but it still sounds good, with good, flat frequency response with a good set of ear buds.
Other Thoughts: 8Gb is on the small side these days. But the price has come down a lot on these lately, so it's still a good value. I have an older 80GB Zune player I bought a couple years ago, so I keep all my ripped movies and larger video podcasts on the 80GB (After using that one for thousands of hours, I still love it).
I use this 8GB player when I need a smaller player like when hiking, running, etc. It works out great. The earphone jack is on the "bottom" side, but I don't think this is much of a problem.... When you watch videos, you turn the screen sideways anyway to see the image anyway, so the jack winds up on the side.

Iffy keypad
Pros: Good capacity/cost Straightforward Interface Good battery life
Cons: The keypad back button no longer works. I will have to see what I can do about that...Software needed to load some games a bit confusing to set up. Not the most durable structure, my wife let the kids play games on it and now the back button is stuck...Kids rough on equipment...go figure.

well...
Pros: Great device for the price. MS did it right with the Zune imo.
Sleek, intuitive and great sound.
Cons: I really REALLY don't like the fact that I have to use the Zune software to do anything with my device. I did know this before I bought it, I'm just hoping someone cracks it soon :)
Accessories are hard to find, but I do most my shopping online so for me (and you) it's pretty easy.
I wish the Zune software used the defacto 5 star rating system that most other media players use ie wmp, media monkey... It would be a lot easier to build play lists and such.
Other Thoughts: Zune software is beautiful, but not perfect.
MS please unlock the Zune to the rest of the world!!!!

Zune - a pleasure to use and extremely versatile
Pros: 8 GB. of storage makes the Zune a great versatile package for its very small size. The low price for features is a further enticement. It has one of the best FM radios to be found - with great stereo separation, long battery life, and digital information from stations broadcasting it. You also have seek or manual tuning - and it will even work overseas. Probably the greatest and most notable feature is the beautiful LCD screen with its mineral glass crystal - not forgetting the action on that screen in video is excellent. This shows the processor is well advanced to match the advanced LCD. Full of features, the Zune has more than most people will ever use. The layout is also well thought out and operation is very simple after only a short period of use. Movies, TV shows, WMPs, MP3s, photos, you name it, The Zune handles them all well.
Cons: You need a computer to charge, update, and load it. The earphones are a little large for my ear canals.
Other Thoughts: The software, you download from the Zune site, also has a short learning curve, but it too offers more than anyone would expect - unless they consider Microsoft is also the Premier software builder in the world. From the wireless functions, the simple beauty of the player itself, to the pletoria of operations it performs flawlessly, Microsoft has provided the best choice in media hardware to match their prowess in software. No one has done it better. One thing - buy a leather cover for your Zune. Once you've used it, you will want to protect its slick finish. The red Zune rivals a ruby in looks and instantly becomes a precious artifact you'll come to love. Remember how great grandpa prized that gold watch? If the Zune told time, he would have thrown that pocket watch away. If the Zune had been around back then, you could bet he would have kept this one right beside that prized gold pocket watch.

Zune Not That Great
Pros: Compact.
Wireless sharing is a neat feature - but only if you can sucker your friends into buying one.
Cons: Limited storage if unit is to be used for anything other than an MP3 player. Really need at least 30+ GB if you're serious about using it as a multimedia player.
Screen too small to really use the device as a video player or to view photos. So why bother getting one with more storage.
Must use Zune software to load the device. Would be nice if it created a USB drive when plugged in - but it doesn't. You have to use the clunky software to load the device.
In 4 hours the Zune software rebooted my system once and locked up the Zune once.
Would be nice if unit allowed for a micro SD card to be plugged in to expand it's storage capacity. But with the Zune you're stuck with what you bought - forever.
Other Thoughts: Not recommended unless you're looking for a compact MP3 player with a fixed amount of storage and an extremely small screen.
