Disappointed in Detroit
Pros: Had lots of cool features, in theory.
Cons: Broke within a week of owning. The rubber edging around the sides started to deteriorate - I think something was leaking on the inside of it. Called customer service and got no wheres with them. Very frustrated all around.

Good Value
Pros: Bought 2 for my kids (2 & 3) for road trips. Works great. While the built in speaker is poor quality, it is loud enough that they don't have to use earphones. This is exactly what I wanted to keep them entertained while driving a long distance. We just turn it on and let it play. And the battery lasts for a very long time.
Cons: As many reviewers said the transfer rate is very slow. I usually multitask while transferring. It's 4:3 ratio (which might not be a con for everyone). The navigation is unintuitive. But once you use it a few times you see there is *some* logic behind it and can get where you need to go with relative ease.
Other Thoughts: I wasn't a big fan of the conversion software. As another review suggested, I use ViDrop to covert video. I use the setting: Generic Rockchip 320x240 medium.ini It works great. Put's a 1/2 hr show to ~70 mb.
I bought 2 when they were on sale for $35. I feel like I got a great deal. If you're looking for value on a decent media player this is definitely the one.

Works with Vista 64-bit
Pros: Price, screen, clarity, value
Cons: Interface takes a little practice. Price went back up to $49 or I would have bought another one. Need to use other headphones for reasonable sound quality.
Other Thoughts: Just wanted to add a few more words on Vista. So far connections have been perfect with Vista 64-bit SP1. No additional drivers required. No problems other than quirks mentioned about pulling USB cable back out a bit. No problems seating/unseating SD card as long as you use something (pen, screwdriver, etc.) to do it with. Have used ViDROP and worked great ripping from DVD. Now need to find a good piece of S/W to splice AVI segments together. I gave it a high rating because of what it is for the value - an almost disposable video player (at sale price).

Hard to gripe at this price
Pros: Price Big screen
Cons: Navigation (read what everyone else is saying). Buttons difficult to see and use. SD card impossible to access if you don't have fingernails. ExtrEEEmly slow data transfer. Nearly 3 minutes to transfer a 200Mb video. 25 seconds just to delete it. Much easier to use SD card. Battery indicator pretty bad. I tried a test - I charged the battery completely (6 hours), then started watching videos non-stop. After half an hour, the battery indicator showed 3/4 full. After 3 hours, it STILL showed 3/4 full. Fifteen minutes later, it showed 1/4 full. Five minutes later, it showed empty. Five minutes after that, the player shut off. List of files doesn't sort alphabetically. Not sure what the sorting method is. Creation time maybe? The included earbuds will come in handy as something to tie up the trash bag if you run out of twist ties. Other than that, it's useless.
Other Thoughts: The unit arrived with a DOA power adapter, but it can still be charged with the USB cable, so I was all set. As usual, Newegg was terrific arranging a return, so I've got a new one on the way while I send this one back.
You'll probably need to convert EVERY video you use with the included converter.
But even with the long list of cons, it still does what it's supposed to - plays videos on a largish screen for dirt cheap.

Pros: Was only $38 on special. Clear enough to read all subbed movies. Good battery life. Built in speaker.
Cons: SD slot is fragile. 2.5mm jack is not standard (but adapter works fine). Built in speaker is not stereo. User interface somewhat confusing, takes time to master.
Other Thoughts: Does everything my daughters ZEN does, and has a larger screen. Nice not having to use ear buds when napping and listening to tunes. Have had reliable connection with all my PCs and laptops with XP. Included converter completes 700mb movies in about 20 min.

Satisfied
Pros: Price, looks, built in speaker.
Cons: so far no cons at all.......for the $47.00 dollars I spent.
Other Thoughts: Fantastic unit so far...for the price one can't go wrong with this unit. Even if it only lasts a year....who cares......it was that cheap. Nice picture and playback. Great sound and performance so far. Great gift idea that won't break your bank.

Great PMP
Pros: Like others have chimed in, the battery life is INSANE. Build quality is fair but so far it has lasted me fine for a few months now. Use it every day during my 14 hour work shift and the battery keeps chugging along.
Cons: Who uses 2.5mm jacks anymore for PMP's? A 3.5mm adapter is included so go ahead and toss the included headphones(JUNK) and pick a good pair up immediately.

Average-Bad
Pros: It works. Great for the money.
Cons: Its really annoying when the headphones come in completely different lengths. Also the buttons are in the worst possible position in the world and way too small. Also the mini disk that has the converter on it wouldn't fit in the CD tray. The odd converter for the head phone jack is really bulky and an obvously bad design over all. Also the manual dosent even have good english .
Other Thoughts: Even with all the cons i think it still is amazing for the money
but i hope i get a new pair of headphones from the manufacturer.

Not Bad
Pros: Big screen. Reallllly Cheap. Plays music. Good quality audio recorder. Awesome built in speaker for it's size.
Cons: Very user unfriendly. Problems with Video. Can only read txt files, not PDF. Small headphone jack, but it comes with an adaptor. Not touchscreen.
Other Thoughts: For all of you who are having the problem with Windows not recognizing it, there is a simple fix. Don't charge it while you have it hooked up to the computer. If you have the power adapter hooked up it will not be recognized.

Not Bad for $40 bones
Pros: Good picture, good sound, included software works great, FOR THE PRICE I can't complain. Bought three of these for my kids for vacation (driving from TN to NY) and it was a dream...should have got one for the wife so she'd stop talking to me...easy to use, easy to figure out, 4gigs with an additonal SD slot (2gigs max), good battery life (about 6 hour or so non stop), so far so good...we've had them about 3 months and my kids have used them most of that time...still going.
Cons: Screen does not go off or on stand-by when charging or listening to music/radio...stick it in your pocket and the screen is always on. Mini-jack for the headphones... I guess that is it so far.
Other Thoughts: Shoved 40 episodes of Sponge Bob on a SD 2 gig, another 80 episodes of Scooby Doo, Thomas, Tom & Jerry, Rug Rats, and Dora/Diego on the internal drive...not bad for $40 bones

Price Point Perfect
Pros: Beautiful, large 3-1/2, 320 x 240 Screen Durable, Great Looks Great sound reproduction Plays videos perfectly with included software Not touch screen Great sounding FM receiver
Cons: Small headphone jack (adapter included) No video book marking No personalization Not touch screen
Other Thoughts: Given the vast assortment of portable video / music players, this one fills a unique niche - large screen - low price. The U.I. is straight forward, once you get used to it, without frills (no floating widgets! a'la the S9). It also has a full sized SD card slot - which can be used with the Transcend 4GB #TS4GSDC which can be bought here at Newegg for a reasonable price. I highly recommend this since the transfer rate to the internal flash memory is very slow - transfer to the card reasonbly fast The Nextar is also pretty compact, given the screen size, with its only competition - the Phillips 3-1/2 screen unit being about 30% more volume and having a far inferior color saturation level - its also more expensive. As far as the USB connection goes, there has been no problem - the designers aparently decided to make the jack connection tight so that there was no possibility of it coming out. Its recognized as a USB device on XP and Vista every time All in all a great purchase.

CHEAP
Pros: Cheap - NOT inexpensive, Pretty good display for the price
Cons: I had this for 2 months and I am pretty disappointed. Sure, you cannot expect an Archos or Cowon at this price but hey, who came up with that stupid idea of using 2.5mm jacks? And this bulky adapter? Could have worked if the headphones were top notch - but they are cheap as the whole thing is. Why do all the menus have such a bad response time? Sometimes I pushed the button four times until it reacted.
Other Thoughts: Connectionwise I had no issues. For others - the reason might be a bad cable. After two months I had enough and sold it. Got a new player from newegg.

Nervous to buy!
Pros: Biggest screen by far for your buck, 4 GB internal memory, SD card slot, lightweight. Battery life by far outlives and portable DVD player.
Cons: Doesn't accept SDHC cards, even thought flash memory is formatted to accept FAT32 system. Slow to transfer to internal memory. Doesn't accept AVI files encoded with MP3 audio.
Other Thoughts: Paid 50 dollars shipped for it and was nervous because of some of the review. It has arrived and even though there are more Cons written out, I find them to be very minor compared to the Pros. I would recommend this, would be 5 stars if either the SDHC cards works or the AVI format was a little updated, but still great value. A lot of people complain about the trying to get an SD card in, which is a little challenging, but not nearly as impossible as they try to pass it.
I MAY HAVE AN UPDATED VERSION "T30-4BL".
So some of these may have been written for the plain T30.

sorted the usb issue
Pros: i have written a few reviews on this device now and after having it for a few months i finally figured out how to fix the usb device not recognized issue.
Cons: i am not sure if the problem is in the cable or the receiver but if all you do is plug in the cable 99 percent of the time it will not work. the trick is to plug it in and then quickly pull it half the way out or just plug it in half way.
Other Thoughts: after a few tries it is easy to get the hang of it. the best is to just plug it in half way. that gets the best results. the plug in an pull out half way does work but you have to be quick about it.
i would also like to point out that i got a 4gb sd card to work. check my other reviews for the exact model number.

Total Garbage
Pros: It didn't kill anyone. Luck I can't give a negative score!!!
Cons: Either this thing is junk or Newegg is selling the same defective unit to everyone. I had the exact same problem everyone else seems to be experiencing. Windows detects the device once, then never again. No matter what you try, Windows fails to detect the device. To add to the frustration, there are no actual drivers on the install CD. I think Nextar was hoping Windows would automatically id their lousy product and install the correct drivers, but to no avail, it's in the bargain bin for a reason.
Other Thoughts: Dont waste your time or money. Highest resolution on this clunker is (320x240) which is half the quality of a last-gen nano (640x480). Spend the extra $20 and get a refurbished nano, you'll thank me.

hard 2 work
Pros: big screen video looks good
Cons: Headphone jack not 3.5mm which is standard on most mp3 players. Hard to work you can't work it with one hand, so don't think about driving with it.
Other Thoughts: I bought this mp3 player for my wife she gave it to my little girl and I had to buy her a Zune.

Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Pros: NONE!!!
Cons: Stopped working right out of the box. Thats what I get for buying a no name player. I thought before I would return it I would call Nextar and see what they would say. It was the worst representative that I have ever spoken with. I Couldn't just call or go online and start the process to send this thing back - I had to first go online and register myself, then wait between 48 and 72 hours before I could even call talk to someone over there. Feel like I've been scammed.
Other Thoughts: You have been warned so be prepared to be disappointed if you purchase this.

great for the money
Pros: the best player for the money you will fine. alot of the complaints that i found were moslty because it wasnt an apple product and that it didnt function as one.
also for the issue with the sd card if you push it in with a pen for the last little bit the card will click in which is a manufacture issue but easy to work around.
Cons: transfer speeds but again for 45 dollers i can go and do other things while i do large transfers.
music does skip a little when running but i moved music to the sd card and i dont have the issue any more.

Great item.
Pros: Alot of fuctions for the price. Screen is clear and vivid. Bought this for a 7 yr old for Christmas. He will not put it down. Uses it to copy videos from youtube. (Weird Al & cartoons) We love it becuase it keeps him content on road trips.
Cons: The software that came with the unit didnt convert FLV files (youtube) to avi. I downloaded ViDrop for free and used it.

90% Happy
Pros: It has a great picture and very easy to operate. It has nice sound and movies are easy too see with the screen size. Really good buy.
Cons: Can't get the SD card to seat. I even sent one card back, thinking it was defective, but no. It just won't seat. When I push it in and hold it down it reads it fine, but who wants to hold the card in for it to operate.
Other Thoughts: I thought about sending it back for a replacement and I'm still thinking on it. I guess I'm afraid the next one will have some other problem. Also, I hate to be without it for the time it would take to get the replacement. All in all it was a good buy and tops others out there even with the SD card problem

Liked It So Much I Bought Another
Pros: Huge Screen, low price, long battery life
Cons: Screen is a little dim even on the brightest setting. Depends on what you're watching but sometimes night scenes are a bit murky. Navigation is difficult, you have to hit the power button a couple of times for it to start up, the SD card is kind of tough to seat. I use my fingernail to push it down into place.
Other Thoughts: I just bought a second one for the kids. It works great, I'm sorry that other people have had trouble with theirs. If you do search in here for "Jugger", he gives great instructions on how to use Vidrop to convert movies. I would only add that in the "extra parameters" box on Vidrop, it helps to put "-af volnorm=2:0.5" (without the quotation marks) This bumps up the volume. Most of the movies I ripped without this were a little too quiet. I really like this little player and you can't beat the price. I'm sorry to hear other people have had problems with it. I have not.

Worked for less than 24 hours
Pros: Screen size and the price.
Cons: Stopped working within 24 hours after using it. Memory card slot seems to have come broken. Rubber band or lining around the edge of the product is deteriorating and falling apart.
Other Thoughts: Couldn't just call or go online and start the process to send this thing back - I had to first go online and register myself, then wait between 48 and 72 hours before I could even call talk to someone over there. Feel like I've been scammed.

Great Deal! Get a new cable!
Pros: Big screen for the money. Works well enough as far as playing, no problems. The earphones are actually pretty good I thought, without having to spend an equivalent amount on earphones! Very thin, looks sleek and battery seems to last long. The AVI conversion software is slow, but works. Downloads are fairly slow, but again work if you use a different cable - see below.
Cons: You need to just replace the USB cable - it is junk. All these other reviews where it does not recognize the player, well, I had this same problem. I grabbed another cable I had and instantly, no problems with this. I think the cable is junk that comes with it. You do need to compress or use small photos as other users said or it gives you an error message. No need for photos this large on a small screen anyway, keep them well under 1MB each. Buttons sometimes gotta press a couple times to get them to work, but once you get used to it, it is not bad
Other Thoughts: for the money, great. I don't want some $300 item floating around that I could lose somewhere, or drop and break, just want to listen to music, keep my family photos and maybe a movie or two.
It does fine for these tasks, not going to impress anyone without a touch screen but I have seen those after some use and they look not so good, why spend a bunch of money on something that is going obsolete in a year anyway!

Cons: NONE!! For the price under $40, you really can't complain!

Warning!
Pros: Nice screen....when it works Easy conversion software
Cons: SD slot didn't work No serial number=no support
Other Thoughts: I was hopeful about this unit even though the reviews were somewhat mixed. BOY WAS I DISAPPOINTED. First unit came and the SD slot would not lock a card as it was faulty. Also, the unit had no serial number...not a big deal until NewEgg said it would not accept the the unit back without a serial nor would Nextar help me without it (read: SETUP!!). Luckily NewEgg relented after a tense chat session. New unit arrived...same faulty SD slot and now the screen had a grid pattern on it. I dug up the NewEgg telephone number and mentioned that this seemed like a con with faulty units being dumped on unsuspecting buyers with no recourse. The gentleman I spoke with was VERY helpful and provided a paid return label and a refund. NewEgg=GOOD, Nextar=BAD. Buyers beware.

Disappointed
Pros: The price: I bought it for $27 with free shipping E-Book Feature: Its something new that I never heard of before but I love reading short stories on this device 3.5" screen: makes it easy to read subtitles on the videos that I watch. The quality can be good but it really depends on the quality of the original video file. Memory slot on the side for additional space.
Cons: -NAVIGATION!!!! The biggest disappointment EVER! I put a lot of music onto this...about 300 songs at the moment. When i want to listen to a song that is....lets say...the #73 on your list, it would take FOREVER to get to it. You would have to press the button about 73 times! -That brings me to my next point. The buttons are a little non-responsive. It takes about 2 clicks and 10-15 seconds just to turn it off. -You won't understand this complaint unless you see it for yourself but the organization of the Nextar is a little "glichy." There were some folders that led to nowhere. -There is a relatively low battery life. I think it was 8 hours but it felt a lot shorter. I have to charge it about every 4-5 days. My Sansa mp3 player lasted for about 2 weeks..=then again it doesn't have a 3.5" screen draining the battery life. -Plastic material: its just my personal dislike...it makes the think look and feel cheap..but it was cheap =P -Uploading music and videos was pretty slow compare o
Other Thoughts: I would have wrote more about the cons but the 1000 character limit prevented me from doing so. Really, the only real problem with this player is the navigation. seriously...what were they thinking?! Put a wheel on it like the sansa and I would be happy with this purchase. The navigation made me almost regret this purchase even if i did buy it for $27. Another point to not is the 2.5mm audio input. It would have been better if it was standard size.

Unusable
Pros: none
Cons: -Display is very dark and blurry.(even with brightness on max) -Driver wouldn't install on vista 64 bit machine. -No firmware available on website or included CD. -Tech support basically read the owners manual to me and was no help at all. They could only recommend that I return the device. -Sound quality is horrible.
Other Thoughts: The main purpose of me buying this device was to use it as an E book reader. The screen was to dark and blurry for this. Basically, this device is completely unusable. DO NOT BUY!!!

Well worth $50... but I'll wait until they are $38 again...
Pros: The $38 price was great. The kids love it! I have movies, music and ebooks on that thing. I have another portable media player with a 7" screen that is a bit to bulky and expensive to allow a child to really enjoy it, but at this price, my children can enjoy their music and movies comfortably wherever we are, and I can as well. All the buttons work and the picture looks great, it has expandable memory which is a crucial purchase point for me. Love it.
Cons: At $38 there are not really any "Cons"to speak of, but there are a few things you have to work around. The other reviews all had good info about what negative issues may arise.
Other Thoughts: I'm actually here at the site to purchase more of these PMPs, and since the price is at $50 now instead of $38, I wrote this review instead. I'll be back when the price drops to scoop some more of these up.

A Little flaky to setup
Pros: The Cost The operation (once you understand it.) The Value
Cons: The setup at first
Other Thoughts: Just setup your computer to convert and send the files to the device overnight and it will work fine. Uploading big files takes some time to convert and send.

not bad
Pros: It does exactly what it says it does. I snagged it at $38 w/ free shipping. Can't beat that. Awesome features. Awesome screen size. Awesome price.
Cons: Read all of the negative reviews before you buy this thing. They are all true...
Other Thoughts: The headphones are cheaply built. My pair came with the cord for the left earpiece at 6 inches long, and the cord for the right earpiece at 18 inches long. I don't think it's supposed to be like that.

Conversion, connection tips
Pros: Long battery life, clear video, easy to use after some study, text reader included, okay sound with better earphones or external speakers, good price on sale. I paid $100 last summer
Cons: Text hard to read on default background, with no way to change. Very slow upload of files to unit.
Other Thoughts: I learned this point after reading all the reviews on this site--any video conversion utility will work as long as the audio format selected is MP2, not MP3. I have converted several different video bitrates, frames per second from 20 to 30, and different audio birates from 64 to 128, and the only thing that seems to matter is that the audio format selected is MP2 to make the video file play properly on the Nextar T30. I like Format Factory the best for conversion, and it is free. Also, I noted that by plugging the USB cord into the unit half way, you charge the unit. When you plug in the USB cord all the way you go into the file transfer mode.

poor man's iphone, but does the job
Pros: Big screen, internal speaker, SD card slot, plays video/mp3s fine. Add an inexpensive transcend 4gb card and you have a 8gb video machine. With some tinkering it is now the perfect mini-tv for the back seat on long trips for my kid.
Cons: buggy firmware, complicated/confusing interface, requires video transcoding, construction is flimsy, manual is sketchy, no RMA, tech support quality is low. It is on deep sale from the original MSRP ($200) so don't expect updates.
Other Thoughts: I bought this for my kid to watch movies on, and it probably took me 2hr after opening to get it working properly. Tech issues I encountered: - you can't have the USB and the power adapter both connected (don't need to since it can draw power off the USB) but it will not recognize the player if not plugged in - USB port is sticky - SD card was not accessable until i did a hard reset with it in the slot - my power button was dodgy and couldn't maintain enough connection to turn on and off. For a while i got around it by turning the sleep timer on and using the DC adapter to power on. Finally i shimmed the power button with a small folded piece of paper and now it works reliably. - many functions in the interface are very context-specific. in general, you have to stop playback, or go to the main menu to get some of the functions to work - overall, you get what you pay for. It works, but it was not a "good" consumer experience

Pros: >cheap (50$ when i bought it) >battery life lasted longer than expected (i worked a 10 hour day, and it lasted the entire day through music, and 30 minutes of a movie without even loseing 2/4 the battery) >the avi converter was nice, worked good. no problems. >can also use it as a mass storage device >windows recognized it immediately
Cons: >Buttons stuck for the first week or 2 till i broken them in. >headphone jack is not common >its frozen atleast twice since i got it. >no software i could find
Other Thoughts: if your like me, poor and on a budget, id recommend this to you if your looking for a toy to play with, i havnt had it long enough to tell you if its a long term mp3 player/pmp player, but from what ive seen i will definitely get my moneys worth.

Best for this price!
Pros: Beautiful large screen for nice display quality! Generally can satisfy all my need for this kind of player.
Cons: Maybe it is not as good as iphone , it has no touch screen and what's more there is no zoom in for the pics viewing. But it can not be beated for this price.
Other Thoughts: Very happy for having and using it so far! Hope the button can last long for using.

Loving it so far
Pros: Nice conversion software that will come in handy, nice internal storage, nice price (I even payed the higher $50 non-sale price). Nice screen and form factor. Mini-USB is nice.
Cons: I don't like the apparently unchangeable orange UI scheme, I'd rather have had some options. The built-in speaker is mediocre. It would be nice to have a standard-sized jack.
Other Thoughts: The controls are a bit wonky at first but I guess will be ok, I do like that they are on the edges of the screen and don't waste much space. It feels like a modern generic 'walkman' which is what I was expecting anyway.
I was going to get an iPod Touch or an iPhone but couldn't justify the expense, and what I really wanted was something to show my kid videos on the road. I'm loading the thing up with my Star Wars collection now :) I hope to get use out of the FM radio, note recording functionality etc. This should be a great learning device at a toy price (my kid is 6). If he breaks it, it will be a whole lot easier to live with than losing 'my' phone. I may get a few more when they go on sale again for my wife and I, depending how it goes with this one.

Decent
Pros: Big Screen, Nice Functions, charges in about 2 hours
Cons: hard to navigate in my pocket while im walking, sound isnt as loud as my cheaper $20 mp3 even after using a full user eq, battery doesnt last as long as i would have hoped, very picky on which type of video it plays, havent been able to convert a working video with anything other than aviconverter program thats included.
Other Thoughts: You can edit your Converter.ini file in the aviconverter program files folder and get smaller videos if you are willing to sacrifice a bit of quality, all you have to do is change the bitrate=300 to bitrate=200 and abitrate=64 to abitrate=128 in the last 3 rows under parameter, this will give u good audio and ok video on the LOW setting and make a 20min video about 50mb(compared to 110mb on high), vista users cant edit texts in program files so you'll need to make a Converter.ini on your desktop, copy the contents from the one in program files, edit then replace the other

Update
Pros: Forget about the last update, must have been a bad charge, now it ran for an entire movie with the speaker, actually a little short of two movies, after a long charge.
Cons: no.

3/4th Movie
Pros: Update to my previous review - the good stuff still good, except...
Cons: Actually tried to watch an entire movie from start to finish, using the speaker, after a full charge using the AC charger, about three quarter way thru the movie, the battery ran out and it shut down quickly.
Ooopp!
Anybody has better luck?

Great Screen and Value for the Price
Pros: The screen on the T30 is amazing, not just because of the 3'5 size, but the quality and color on both video and images is amazing.
Sound on music is also pretty decent.
Overall the T30 has a lot of functions, including a reader, radio, recorder, audio and video player which makes it a good value for the price.
Cons: Potentially fragile sockets
Conversion can be a bit of a hassle when importing video files
The GUI is annoying yes, so is the control scheme, but it's under the category of things you get used to. Since this is a full screen player without a touch screen, the buttons would always have to be on the sides. The GUI could be better, but for what I paid for it I'm not going to complain.
Other Thoughts: I wrote a previous review on the T30 when I first received it, however my first model did not work. Newegg was created and took care of it, and the model I have now works.
The quality of the screen is great, videos play with amazing clarity and color that you would expect from a much more expensive player. Due to the conversion process though, I haven't been able to get a video to play with the sound right yet.
The connection problems that were a hassle the first time around were addressed by other reviewers, so I'd like to thank the Newegg community for its help too. The key is to get both the USB and the memory card in all the way, but the design of the T30 makes it seem that they're in when they're not, and forcing them in all the way is a risky and difficult process. Nothing has broken yet, and I'm trying to be careful, but I'm concerned about what will happen after a month or two of having to forcefully do this each time I want to transfer files.
Overall this is a great

Junk
Pros: Cheap Big Screen Sound quality through headphones is ok. Can play a variety of mp3 data rates such as 192Kbps, 320Kbps)
Cons: Has a Photo Viewer for the big screen but ANY JPG file I tried, even small ones formatted to fit it's screen will cause it to lock up with no way out. It says "ERROR, File Format Error" and it's stuck. No buttons work and I have to press the tiny, recessed reset button to start over.
The Firmware update program installed but has no firmware with it and none is available on their web site. It has a tiny, fragile, proprietary headphone jack. if you lose the adapter you can't use the player with regular headphones. The Battery is not replaceable, sealed inside. The Tiny built-in speaker has less volume than a telephone 2 feet away, and it has hiss on it. The USB connection is very slow and intermittent, Sometimes it connects, other times Windows says the device is unrecognized. Non-intuitive button placement. Limited volume capability through headphones. It says USB 2.0 but the built-in memory is very slow with 2.7Mbps average throughput.
Other Thoughts: The overall design had potential as a cheap player but it's just too cheaply made and poorly executed, Maybe a firmware update will help some of the issues, but they didn't publish one yet. I wrote to the company, we'll see if they respond.

Great for the Price
Pros: Nice screen, built in speaker, plenty of volume, decent batter life
Cons: SLOWWWWWWWWWWW transfer time. Mine start out at like 100kb/s and work their way slowly up to like 1.5mb/s. Slower than I'd like
Other Thoughts: I converted Pineapple Express and put it on there, it looks great and is perfectly synced up. I wouldn't bother using their syncing software, just drag and drop.
I would have given this player 3 starts if it wasn't so cheap!

Hard to beat for the price.
Pros: Small size. Large screen for it's size. Good display quality. SD slot. good price.
Cons: Transfers to the players built in ram is slow. I mean slow. 3.8gb transfer took well over an hour. Take your SD card out to load it.
Other Thoughts: I didn't have any trouble with the learning curve, it seems pretty much normal for a device like this. I had no trouble with any PC recognizing this thing. Tried it in a couple of desktops and a couple of laptops. The USB cable does kind of snap in to the device but I didn't see it as a problem. Converted a dozen old movies from older divx/xvid formats using the provided software. A little slow but not bad. For 40 bucks I don't think you can beat this, even with it's mostly minor complaints. I may have to buy another one for the wife.

Ignore my previous criticism
Pros: Not bad...
2.5mm to 3.5mm headphone adapter is also included.
Cons: Found from reading another previous review that the mini USB plug must be pushed into the jack "very firmly" and the connection issue was then resolved. The bad distortion level is the accompanying headphone's fault.
Other Thoughts: Use a better headphone than what comes included.

A Piece of Junk
Pros: Free Shipping.
Cons: The mini USB port on the unit is sloppy and can only make intermittent connections. Playback of MP3 audio has high rate of distortion at any volume. I can only RMA for replacement.
Other Thoughts: No refund available. Stay clear of Nextar junk.

good for your money.
Pros: like others have said, good screen size, good amount of memory for your money, good player for your money. i bought one and my mom kind of took it over from me. ill be buying another as soon as it hits 38-40 dollars again.
Cons: takes some getting use to everything. once in a while it gives weird errors until you turn it off and leave it off for a couple minutes. once in a while the audio on videos will be all static until you turn the video off and turn it back on. needs updates on the firmware but none in the works.
Other Thoughts: makes a better 4gb mp3 player than most that cost the same, and comes with a bigger screen than most media players that cost more. all in all a decent product in my opinion.

Very Good One
Pros: this is very good with wide screen and resoluation is also pretty good. clear sound even from build in speakers. i took one after 2 weeks i took another one for my brother-in-law because i love this one. i paid 39$ for each and free shipping thanks newegg.
Cons: u can not upload huge memory of photos . if u upload more then 0.5MB image file it will take long time to display.if u upload 2mb image file then it will show you a error message. better to upload some KB amount per photo.
Other Thoughts: very good product. good in sound good in video quality. good images.

Non-Intuitive
Pros: Outstanding Bang-For-Buck (bought it when it was on sale for 38 bucks, free ship), Big screen, Lightweight and Small Size, 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm Earphone Jack Adapter Included.
Cons: Quirky, non-intuitive interface, no firmware upgrade available despite the ability to upgrade, user manual sketchy, need for user to exercise interpretive and analytic skills to overcome the above shortcomings, fairly slow file transfer, bulk of headphone adapter takes away from the small size of the unit.
Other Thoughts: As others have noted, you need to make sure the USB cable is firmly seated in the unit before your computer will recognize it. The fault is the port. I, too, had problems with my 'puter recognizing it until I got the cable in past a "sticking" point and all was cool. Also, the SD card label has to face AWAY from the screen. I was monkeying with it for a half hour before I figured that out. Also, despite the sucessful install of the firmware upgrade software, I was unable to find any upgrade. If sales for this thing remain consistently low I think it unlikely Nextar will waste time an energy on firmware upgrades let alone support in general (seems non-existent now). That said, once I got past these little "get to know your device" issues, I now have an outstanding little player that performs as well as units costing five times this much. So on the merits of the hardware and Newegg's outstanding customer service, I would recommend this, especially if it goes on sale again for 38 bucks.

Great mp4 player
Pros: price and big screen 3.5" , again price for $38 and free shipping this is good. Thank newegg.
Cons: earphone jack ? also the usb is to hard case little on the weak side but other than very happy, also the program that come with it is a little slow and tranfer very slow but is ok.
Other Thoughts: still and very happy with the product.

Great little toy!
Pros: Large, clear 3.5" display. Battery life is decent. I don't mind the software converter. It converts VERY fast. Overall I love this and was able to buy it on some super sale or something at $39.99 so it was an excellent deal!
Cons: The buttons are klunky being on two sides You'll get used to it. It's got a 2.5" phone jack and not 3.5". Other than that, I love this.

Very Cool
Pros: Movies and Pics Look Great on the 3.5 inch screen. Overall very cool looking product. Friends are jealous when they see the movies played on it. What a steal for $38 on the NewEgg daily deals with Free Shipping, wish I would have bought more than 1. Battery life seems pretty good - watched 2 full movies and played about 15-30 minutes of MP3's. I have 2 movies, about 50 MP3's, and 15 photos on my MP3 player and have only used about 25% of the 4GB drive.
Cons: GUI is very slow but it does work. Headphone jack is the mini size but it comes with an adapter to plug in your own headphones.
Other Thoughts: used viDrop to convert my DVD's to AVI's, if I remeber correctly after viDrop was installed I did not change any settings to convert the DVD's. Did not install the software that came with the player, I just access it like another drive. Both my WIN XP and my VISTA box recognized the new device.

Infuriating
Pros: none experienced.
Cons: 1. As indicated by some other reviewers, the device could not be recognized by any computer in the house, xp or vista. 2. will only accept up to a 2 GB memory card for a total of 6 GB 3. micro to mini adaptor a must for other ear buds or headphones. 4. documentation very difficult to read. 5. Web site support only refers to Windows 2000.
Other Thoughts: You know, I read other reviews that said the device couldn't be recognized, and I thought, nah, it won't happen, I'll be one of the lucky ones. Well, I wasn't. Like several other reviewers, I spent close to 2 hours trying to make this device work. There is even a label inside the documentation bag in the box which says something to the effect - "if this device is not working, don't return it, but call 1.800.xxx.xxxx" , so obviously someone along the way is aware of a problem. I selected it as a gift for my 10 year old daughter when it was on sale, looked like a great price - it obviously cost a lot more in wasted time. She was so excited when it arrived and couldn't wait for me to load her music on it. Sad ending. This is NOT plug and play.

a week later
Pros: i have had the unit for a week now and i like it. i got a transcend 4gb sd card and it works great. Model TS4GSDC.
Cons: i still have the problem with windows not recognizing the device and i have not quite figured it out yet. it does seem to depend on the connection to the device? i connect the thing like 100 times for it to connect. i can't figure out why.
Other Thoughts: not a big deal if you use the sd card for disposable stuff, when you do connect to the internal memory fill it up with your fav stuff.
if i had known about these things i still would have gotten it. it is a great little media device and it works with the 4gb sd card i got :)

Wish it worked
Pros: Nice size screen.
Cons: DOA
Other Thoughts: First, I’d like to compliment everyone on their conversational civility on this one. Usually several accusations of idiocy have been tossed out there by now on an item like this. I guess I’m going to risk giving you the opportunity to change that. I have exactly the same problem as “TransmissionFailed” but mine didn’t even work for 30 minutes. It was DOA. I get lots of multicolored horizontal and vertical lines, or a blank white screen. I’ve re-set it (little pin hole on the side) multiple times. No luck. Then I tried to update the firmware, and like “N/A” I then couldn’t figure out how to do it. I feel so mentally challenged at this point, and I’m generally not this stupid. It says in the manual that “the firmware is stored in the device flash memory”. Since no firmware file is identified when I run the consumer update program, perhaps this is part of the problem. The two things is actually does do is recognize the device and I have successfully loaded some files on it.

Pros: price, stylish looks, nice screen size, easy to use.
Cons: the connection ports are a little tight and it seems a bit slow in file transfers.
Other Thoughts: Other reviews have said it's not Vista compatible, but I'm running Vista x64 and when I plugged it in Windows recognized the device and found drivers for it all on its own. Made a playlist in WMP and it synced up just fine.

Works
Pros: -Cheap -Nice screen size -Charge via usb or outlet -plays well -internal speaker (works ok)
Cons: -micro usb port hard (read reviews below about) -had connection issue when usb wasn't in all the way -speaker doesn't work with FM tuner -FM tuner not very strong pickup -buttons cheapish -headphone jack conversion -still don't understand how to update firmware -SD card hard to get out -Playing music off of SD card, have to search in browser and play, it isn't added automatically
Other Thoughts: Purchased this because it was cheap and I wanted a video player. From previous reviews people said the conversion program was slow, I figured its because they were converting to the player itself which takes loads of time. Try converting the file to your desktop and then transferring it to the device. Works much faster. Would recommend this for video player only and not music.

I like it..
Pros: Nice and slim it fits in just about any pocket and has a nice big viewable screen. Plenty of storage space and the built in rechargeable battery means no battery's to buy. You can store your pictures on it and watch .avi movies. I also got it when it was on sale for $38, and it was well worth it for that price.
Cons: The headphones are not that good and make this player sound like junk. I had a hard time getting the usb cable in the port i had to force it in the first time after that it worked just fine. It's a bit of a pain to get the SD card in and out of the slot. And as others have mentioned the controls are a pain but you get use to them.

Does work with vista
Pros: I read other reviews saying there were issues getting it to recognize, and that it vista doesn't support it. However, I have not had any issues with either of these. No issues running vista ultimate x86... Got it when it was on sale for $38, and it was worth it for the price.
Cons: Headphones included are terrible. Slow response time
Other Thoughts: If the price stays down then this is definitely worth buying.

Pretty Cool Player
Pros: It works right out of the box, screen is big, colors are good, sound is good, incredible value for the money.
Cons: Doesn't feel very durable, I hold my breath every time I plug in or unplug headphones and USB cord. Transfer rate is very slow. The headphone adapter seems unneccesary, wonder why they made the jack that size to begin with.
Other Thoughts: I bought this primarily to watch videos, I already have an MP3 player. The big screen and low price piqued my curiousity and I'm not disappointed. I haven't had trouble with computer recognizing the device as some others have reported. I'm also running Vista and the thing works just fine on Vista. I think maybe Drag0s was referring to the conversion software. I didn't use the conversion software, another reviewer on here, Jugger, had some great advice regarding viDrop, a free converter available at MyMPxPlayer.org Jugger did the work and I just copied what he put in his review. It's worth repeating for those who don't want to dig through all the reviews:
Video : (Similar to High Compress settings in AVConverter) Video Codec: Xvid Video Size: 320 x 240 BitRate: 200 Frame Rate: 20 Aspect: Auto
Audio : (Equal to High Compress settings in AVConverter) Audio Codec: mp2 (MP3 won't work) Bit Rate: 64 (96 is the high quality seetings in AVConverter) Sample Rate: 44100 Cha

Not bad for the price. Connects to PC everytime.
Pros: Cheap price (was at its cheapest when I bought mine).
Nice picture/video quality for the price.
Includes a fair amount of features.
Video quality is acceptable and very watchable. If playing fast paced videos, you will get better quality and no pixel lag if you use an SD card (60X or faster, right here from NewEgg).
Downloaded viDrop converter (search for it) and it worked great, never even tried included software, I used reviewer "Jugger's" settings and they worked great (Thanks!).
When everything is done correctly, I have no no issues at all with this player. Worth every penny that I paid.
Don't regret purchase one bit so far, NewEgg shipped fast as usual! Overall I am happy with this purchase and it will work for what I wanted it for.
Cons: Product a little cheaply made, (but still worth the price).
eBook reader only reads .txt files.
Built in memory is a little slow and this causes fast moving videos (like parts of the MMA fights I put on it) to get pixelated and blotchy during fast sequences. But not an issue on regular paced stuff and not an issue at all with a fast SD card (I used 60X speed).
SD card slot is tight and I'm afraid it may break one day, make sure you instert it correctly as there are no markings (side of SD card with brass terminals face the screen- you can look inside to verify this). Have to use a small screwdriver to CAREFULLY get card to go far enough to lock and same thing to unlock.
USB port is very very tight and may be reason people aren't getting it to be recognized by their PC (see below!). This might break easily also (maybe?, not sure yet as it is getting looser as I use it).
Menu not set-up the best, can cause more time doing things.
SDHC didn't work for me, yet.
Cheap h
Other Thoughts: At first I had the same issue where my PC didn't want to recognize the player was connected, but then I noticed that the USB plug was loose feeling. When inserted, it doesn't go all the way in but seems too tight to go further, you think it is in because it shows the charging indicator from USB and sometimes connects the player.
But it isn't, you have to carefully push harder until it pops in place, the USB cord should go all the way into the player until there is no metal showing on the mini USB plug and only the black plastic showing. Once you do this you should see the player every single time as I do. Make sure you use safely remove hardware to disconnect though.
I inserted the disk, installed the firmware update software from folder cause it has drivers, I restarted my PC and then plugged USB in all the way, works every single time now! Movies transfer at 1.2-1.6 MB/sec. and smaller MP3's at 700KB/sec-1.1MB/sec. on the on-board memory.

On balance, very pleased
Pros: Big bright crisp display, great audio quality, very nice video quality. Included conversion software worked great. No problem getting computer to see it. Custom EQ feature is nice, as are the many settings for managing display brightness and standby modes.
Cons: The video codec is not available as a standalone for use with VirtualDub. Even so, it pays to preprocess some content before using the conversion software. The slideshow could use longer time delays, 5 secs is a bit quick.
Other Thoughts: This thing rocks. I read where other people had trouble getting their PC to recognize the device. I found that if you so much as breath hard on any of the buttons it will not connect. But having found that, it connects every time if you stay away from the buttons. File transfer speeds vary. 150 photos [about 15 MB] took more than 4 minutes to transfer. But 200 MB of video took a bit less time. The minor issues are quickly forgotten once you see how great the huge display is. The cheapest [Newegg] price on the next -smaller- display is [currently] $179.99. 5 Stars because Newegg is the best!

Great little player
Pros: Plug and play, do a little research, to the person who says it doesn't work with Vista, it definitely works with Vista, just plug it in through USB and send your files to it, or drag and drop. Just like a flash drive or other external storage device. Very easy. Actually easier than writing a review! Great sound, great video, followed someone else's advice and used Vdrop for video conversion, works great.
Cons: Quirky interface, but works good anyway.
Other Thoughts: I basically wrote this review to tell everyone that IT WORKS WITH VISTA! Plus it made a good Valentine's Day gift for my wife.

BEWARE - DOES NOT WORK WITH VISTA
Pros: compact, good sound, good features for the price
Cons: does not work with vista. Called Nextar support and confirmed. They do not have any plans of making it compatible with Vista or to release any drivers for it.
Other Thoughts: this is ridiculous

good little media player
Pros: it is just what I wanted to listen to my music and not having to pay outragous money for an mp3 player
Cons: have to get use to the way the buttons are set up but its all on me not on the player

Very Pleased!
Pros: Value: Bought this on sale and put a $10.00 4gb micro sd card fin it and now have 8gb for the low-low of $50.00. Love the 3.5" display. The picture quality is impressive. We uploaded a clip from So You Think You Can Dance on it and it played beautifully. Photos are crisp and clear and more detailed than expected. Haven't tried it with regular head phones yet but it sounds pretty good with the ones that came with it. We do appreciate all the accessories that came with it. If we ever see it on sale again we'll probably get at least one more and a bunch more sd cards so we can easily change out videos etc. We just made folders for the music to act as play lists which works great because the files pretty much play in the order they were added.
Cons: No wrist strap or stand. Fits great in a shirt pocket... most womens blouses do not have pockets though. An armband pouch wouldn't be difficult to make for it. Orange stripe? Would have preferred it just be all black.
Other Thoughts: I can't wait until these things all just take voice commands, that would be awesome...

Cons: slow transfer, not a touchscreen?
Other Thoughts: Nice and cheap with charger, and pouch. I bought it to replace my old ipod nano, and havnt looked back ever since. its big and affordable and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to replace their old mp3 players wit something cheap and new

I LIKE IT!!!
Pros: Nice Screen. Great colors. Lots of features. Plays videos nice, I hope it gets the advertised 4 hours'ish. shows pictures, FM radio is nice, even record radio, auto scans for 20 presets, voice recording, e-book function, read text AND play music. Great MP3 stereo sound with Equalizer! Explorer feature shows all media, and you can just go to what you want to play from there. Comes with an assortment of accessories, carrying pouch, USB cable, earbuds, etc... All in All, a great little gadget! Newegg got it delivered in short order. I got it at $40.00 on sale! I sprung for the 2gb SD card too, you see WHY!! Nice little deal.
Cons: Several things about the unit could have been better. I took off a point for the interface, it is a bit clumsy. (i.e. top buttons, then side, top, then side, back and forth you go. gets old, but is not difficult.) Also for the SLOW MEMORY!! Should have had a strap, the pouch is nice, but you will generally have it out and you don't want to drop it accidentally. No way to open it up and replace the battery if necessary. They say to dispose of the battery for environmental reasons, but how can you get at the battery to do that???? 4gb Memory is great, BUT this is the SLOWEST memory on EARTH!!! It takes a good 2-3 minutes to delete a movie file. Transfer is also slow, it is because it is formatted in FAT32, I think. BUY A 2GB SD CARD. They have them here at Newegg. I got the OCZ 60X and it is WAY MORE FASTER!!! So keep the small stuff on the internal, and your large video files on the SD Card. Radio does not seem to play without the earbuds as they serve as an antenna.
Other Thoughts: I don't like having to convert video files. This comes with a fairly nice converter or go to the website and download it. There is an update program which I can't get to work, it wants a *.RFW file, and I can't find one ANYWHERE. Got an Email into Nextar on that. However, I had no trouble installing the drivers on both my computers, both recognize right off the bat, and I think the PROs out-weigh the Cons in this case, (just some frustrating stuff.) I am pretty happy with the unit. So thanks to Newegg for having it on sale. Go to the Nextar site, and register the unit. Instead of the 30 limited refund policy at Newegg, the unit has a 90 warranty from Nextar!!!!

You really do get what u pay for
Pros: it was pretty inexpensive. everything looks and sounds good. I like the speaker feature so u dont necessarily need headphones. SD card slot is pretty nice.
Cons: slow response time to just about everything you try to do. loading stuff on, deleting, playing, shutting it off.
Other Thoughts: Its a pretty nice piece of equipment. I dont think it would have been worth it to pay full price.

dont buy
Pros: um i have no clue.
Cons: to dl music on this pile is a waste of my time. It is impossible. I wish i would have known what a piece this is or i wouldnt have told my friend about it and made sure she wont have bought one too.
Other Thoughts: I think that this mp3 player should be takin off the market so that nobody else waste their money and doesnt expect to get something that actualy works. The worst part about this is i went ahead and bought this for myself, thinking i got this great deal and didnt know that my bf was goin to get me an ipod. I could be sitting here right now actually listening to music and have a really awesome mp3 player.

Love it!
Pros: Love the color of the videos. Recomended it to others. For the price this is much better than the other mp3 players that I have. The shipping with newegg is awsome. I ordered it on a Thursday and I got it the next day.I don't have a problem down loading songs the were pretty fast and deleting songs wasn't a problem either.
Cons: Down loading videos is slow.

Awesome for the price!!!!
Pros: Thin, lightweight, plays music, photos, movies, has fm radio. The screen is perfect to watch movies on the go. The screen is crisp the sound is wonderful. This is well, worth the money. I love it.
Cons: The only con that i can find is that the sd card is a little hard to get out of the slot. But, that is very minor.
Other Thoughts: Don't get caught up in the big name manufactures, this player is way better and the value is phenomenal.

Broke within a half-hour of firstr review lol
Pros: check previous review
*sd card port
Cons: check previous review especially the part about being made in china and cheaply made
*sd card port
Other Thoughts: *Well the device broke in about thirty minutes after the first review. The device is fully functional but I inserted and SD card and heard a "crackle". I thought to myself "not good" it turns out that the sides of the plastic case are held together by tabs similar to those of the ipod but because this is made of a cheaper plastic it cracked under the pressure of inserting the sd card for the first time.Yep I'm awestruck and conflicted at the same time....should I return or should I fix with a little super glue considering that only the front of the device comes off and it still remains fully operational?

Erherrmmm....
Pros: -Beautiful Screen
-Nice size-3.5"
-Surprisingly slim for a player of this type
-Bump resistant orange strip
-Port that allows for the use of a wall jack
-they included an adapter for the audio port
-has not died yet
-worth the money I paid for it
Cons: Slow as freaking hello Lucy(transferring and deleting of anything is super sluggish)
Buttons are ok in where they are placed but functionality on G.U.I. side is slow and buggy(1-2 seconds wasted before button push was recognized)
-feels like it was made in china...oh wait it is...( the plastic feels cheap and there is no weight to it like in bad way it's too light for it's own good)
-stupid 2.5 mm audio port
-The cycling of icons is too robotic and not a smooth transition(refer to Sansa icon transitioning)(It aggravates me)
-not worth the money I would have paid for it if it was not on sale
Other Thoughts: A mediocre player for a cheap price
The saying "you get what you pay for" really is the perfect way to describe this device.
I would not lie if I were to say I want my money back for this Cr*p but there is no refund policy so buyer beware
The device is not bad but not good enough to recommend to someone.

Lots of Problems, then the T30 Freezes in Colored Lines
Pros: Quick delivery from Newegg, lots of features, and the one time video played it looked good
Cons: It's very difficult to get the computer to recognize the player. It took over an hour to make it happen the first time.
Clumsy Gui
Player currently keeps freezing in a pattern of colored lines and stops working entirely.
Other Thoughts: Newegg shipped the player to me very quickly, which was great. Unfortunately the T30 did not connect to the computer out of the box. It took over an hour before I could get the computer to recognize the player, and this does not seem to be a unique problem. Even after I finally got that far, I couldn't get it to connect again
The player also began screen freezing in a pattern of colorful lines. Sometimes the GUI would white out and shift to the colored lines. Either way the power button does no good most of the time, and the GUI screen turns on in this mangled form when it does.
I've emailed Nextar about the problem, but haven't heard anything back yet. I hope that it can be resolved some way without returning the T30, but I'm not optimistic.
The actual features of the T30 are not bad, though the GUI is clumsy and the ebook text is hard to read. The video plays well. However I had very little time to do anything with the player before it went bonko, so I couldn't tell you mu

Yes But...
Pros: All the positive stuff people already said are true, I can varify them. And I didn't find any phantom file corruption, despite loading up the 4GB memory full, and lots of deleting and loading some more. But you got to know something is not right, when everywhere else it is selling for about $100, and here it has been reduced to $38...
Cons: The answer is... S L O W !! Hair-tearing, dental drilling slow, slow, slow. It took 9 seconds to load an MP3 song onto the player, when it should have taken less than one second. Can you imagine selecting and loading a few hundred songs? And even deleting is slow for some reason, it took 3 seconds, when it should be nearly no time. I loaded a 4GB file onto the player just to fill up the memory, it took forever, had to go eat lunch, and deleting that 4GB file was slow, just a simply delete (when it is hooked to the PC, of course), took forever, had to go do something else then come back.
The video screen is fantastic, better than what online reviews have said, but the quality of the converted video is a bit suspect when the camera is panning, you get lots of horizontal lines. But the compression ratio is amazing, 1/40th the size of the already compressed DV25 file, using the bundle converter software. But in non-pan video, it looks good.
Other Thoughts: I can understand why somebody bought it as the full price could be P---, because as a normal day-to-day MP3 player it is too slow loading songs, and deleting. And except the video panning bit, this player IMO is magical, no, make that miracle, at $38.
I bought several, because for reasons lay people would not have, I am giving them away to people, partly also orange and black is our school color (take that, orange hater lol). And I wil probably buy a few more.

Bang for buck
Pros: Ok here it is WOW it looks like it has a touch screen it has a HUGE screen for an mp3 player want your friends to say wow whats that then buy this it sounds great once you throw away the head set that comes with it as they have a small plug and so a normal size set of head phones wont fit it but it has an adapter with it so dont worry l I am buying 2 more to give as gifts I am very happy I bought it
Cons: If you drop this it is dead FORSURE there is NOTHING to hook it to you with and its to big to fit in a pocket without feeling like it should not be there they should have put a normal earphone plug in it its an mp3 player not a cell phoneThe buttons are tiny but I have big fingers so lol
Other Thoughts: It was 38 bucks and free shipping it sounds great

get it while it's hot
Pros: price, size, quality, nice eq, book reader, nice gui, sd slot, charges from a usb port :-), plays wma files. video looks good and the included software is easy to use. my first try i used the high quality and had a problem. after that i converted several files using the normal quality and they worked great. i don't know if the problem was computer related or software. initially i used a dual core system runing vista 64 but got it to work on single core xp 32. converting a 700mb 90 min xvid movie to the acceptable format took about 20 min on my athalon 2500+ and i was able to do other tasks at the same time. the result was a 400 mb avi that took about 8 min to transfer to the player.
Cons: biggest thing is 9 out of 10 times my computer does not recognize the device? un-plug and plug back a 9 times to get it to work. the included head phones are junk, what do you expect? i got a cheep pair of steinhauzer canal ones and they are much better. the volume does not go that loud but what do you expect? the eq is great and even has a 5 band user adjustable setting.
only works with 2gb sd cards. i tried a 4, 8 and 16gb card and they don't work. i have an old 512mb card and that works fine. the file transfer write rate is slow takes about 3 min to transfer 100mb but the read rate is like 10 times faster than that?
the one video file i had a problem with was a pain. i was able to watch the converted video on my computer but put it on the device and try to play and it freezes up. try to del the file and windows gives me an error. i had to use a portable recovery software to remove the file and get the space back.
Other Thoughts: for the price it is a great deal. i hope that upgrading the firmware will solve some of the issues but the website is down now :(.
the text reader is nice but i would like to change the background. the orange is a bit annoying.
i have the larger nextar 7000 7" unit and this one has a more current user system and better look and even better quality. the thing is about the size of a bi-fold wallet and super light. why get one of those tiny screen players when this one is at this great price?

No Buyers Remorse Here
Pros: 1) Bright, crisp screen, 2) Comes with decent headphones, 3) The size is perfect 4) Photo Viewer 5) Felt carrying case 6) Additional SD slot 7) Can charge via power adapter OR USB
Cons: 1) Buttons are a bit awkward 2) GUI isn't really smooth 3) File transfers are pretty slow 4) Have to use a converter to use regular headphones 5) Manual is pretty sketchy 6) Packaged AVI Converter software is dog-slow
Other Thoughts: What a deal. I loaded up a Disney movie on this thing and my daughter thought it was the coolest thing ever. She can't wait to use it in the car.
I also used viDrop to convert the movie. The first few settings I used gave me a format error. Here are the setting I ultimately used that seemed to work well:
Video : (Similar to High Compress settings in AVConverter) Video Codec: Xvid Video Size: 320 x 240 BitRate: 200 Frame Rate: 20 Aspect: Auto
Audio : (Equal to High Compress settings in AVConverter) Audio Codec: mp2 (MP3 won't work) Bit Rate: 64 (96 is the high quality seetings in AVConverter) Sample Rate: 44100 Channels: 2 (Stereo)
I got these from MyMPxPlayer.org
At the current price this thing is an absolute "must buy". I'm having so much fun tinkering with it.

Unbelievable Value
Pros: Display screen is many times better than some much more expensive players. Comes with 2.5 to 3.5mm cable adaptor so you can plug in powered PC speakers. Great FM tuner with surprisingly good clarity. Video, Photos, and voice recorder are all easy to use.
Cons: None - that I can see yet.
Other Thoughts: Also has an additional SD card slot for up to 2GB of extra storage. At the Newegg price, I'm ordering another to hold as a present for someone.

Follow-Up Review
Pros: Excellent battery life, again can't stress the beautiful color screen to view videos. Mp3 player has a limited GUI but the sound quality is excellent especially when using the custom equalizer.
Cons: Odd GUI but considering that this player has been discounted, it can very easily be overlooked.
Other Thoughts: Axeman downgrades this value packed player due to video conversion software. I disagree, for the money this player offers a lot, and with proper utilization of video conversion software such as viDrop.exe and formulating it to Rockchip hardware there is no problems. This player is being offered at an excellent value.

Bad buy
Pros: Nice video display, if your video (converted with the additional software) works.
Cons: Corrupted files constantly!
Other Thoughts: Newegg took almost 24 hours to just get it through their system and UPS is slow.......I am still waiting as of now to get it and it says it was on the truck as of 5:10pm. And now that I have it, it corrupts easly and droped $30 the next day!

Terific value for the money.
Pros: Fantastic screen 3.5 inches, very slim body, excellent color and resolution. Custom equalizer brings out the bass. Internal memory is 4gb but can also add a 2gb SD card. Blue indicator lights up on player when you connect USB properly.
Cons: Slow transfer on USB, and I'm also using a powered Hi-Speed hub. GUI is a little annoying like its big brother the Nextar MC3007. You have to use a dongle to connect your 3.5mm earbuds to this device. The earbuds included with the player are the 2.5mm and don't need it. I like the idea that Nextar provides the dongle so you don't have to purchase one.
Other Thoughts: I just got this player delivered today and quickly asset it and like what I see so far considering the low price. I'm familiar with the hardware, this uses a Rockchip chipset. I prefer to use the freeware viDrop.exe for converting DVD's to avi which this player uses. In other words, avi's that play good on Archos and Creative Zen, will not play on this player unless you convert.
