Rating + 3 Kinda Feel Ripped-Off

Pros: It is very handy for keeping things organized.

Cons: Horrid support, sappy interface and overall poor functionality.

Other Thoughts: I'd rather have boughten an EEE PC.

Rating + 4 Palm TX - Too Bad Its an Orphan

Pros: Lots of Apps, WiFi,

Cons: Display is nearly useless in daylight. Palm is abandoning the PDA product line, needs special driver for SDHC

Rating + 3 Old.

Pros: At the time I bought this, it was a pretty good product. I used it for drawing diagrams, taking notes, surfing the internet on a wifi hotspot, and most importantly, listening to mp3s.

Cons: This does not support high capacity SD cards (SDHC), and the standard SD cards are getting obsolete. You need to know that Palm does not really support their PDA OS, as they've given up on PDAs altogether.

Other Thoughts: This product became obsolete the day that Palm decided to go with Windows Mobile and migrate to smart phones.

Rating + 1 DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

Pros: It is a very attractive PDA and it uses a non-MS platform.

Cons: I've been using the thing for 5 days. I've had 3 issues so far where I've had to contact Palm Support (I'm a software engineer and usually have no need to contact support for anything) to fix my issues. All 3 times I was told that I needed to do a hard reset and lose all my information. First problem was that opening DocsToGo would boot loop the device. Second problem was that anytime I tried to open my preferences, the device would freeze. Third problem was that the calibration on the device went wacko... and, of course, because my device is password protected, I have no way of getting into the device to recalibrate. The only solution Palm had was "hard reset" the device. So, after 5 days, and 2 hard resets (I refused to do the 3rd), I requested for Palm to give me a refund. They told me no, saying that my problmes are easily solved by hard resets. When I told them that 3 hard resets in 5 days was unacceptable, I was told that refunds are not given for simple problems.

Other Thoughts: I love Palm devices, but, this is ridiculous. If it weren't for the customer service of Palm, I'd get another device. However, after having them tell me that 3 separate problems over the span of 5 days isn't enough to warrant a refund, I'm done with them. It honestly seems like their technical support staff are from abroad and can't even figure out how to turn the devices on. When they get flustered, their only alternative is to direct you to a hard reset, without exploring alternative solutions. Purchase if you dare, but beware that, if you have a problem, you'll most likely be out of luck.

Rating + 4 Fairly bullet Proof

Pros: Palm OS. Simple.
BT and WIFI work well

Screen size for legacy palm users is huge!

Fast processor, plenty memory for standard apps.

Plays well with epocrates and typhon (med/nursing students, take note)

Cons: Software that ships with it is miserably obsolete, especially with Vista.

Do yourself a favor and don't use the disk that ships with it and download the palm desktop and hotsync (6.2) directly from palm's support website. This is necessary if you hope to sync with outlook 2007.

I made the mistake of installing the old software included on a vista machine and wasted a bunch of time before getting it right. Bluetooth setup with the old software is a nightmare.

Downloading the new software from palm doesn't give you the add-on third party stuff like "docs to go" that ships on the disk. I don't really care about it, but if you do, you may have to pay for an upgrade that's vista compatible.

Other Thoughts: Seems like it's a dead-end on the PDA evolutionary branch but still a very useful device, not too large to carry around in a shirt pocket.

Noted above it works well with typhon, but the install is miserable on Vista. Print typhon's instructions and read carefully, there are manual intervention steps necessary under Vista to get it to work.

Rating + 4 The Palm TX Rocks

Pros: Versatile, useful, affordable ... great value.
The wi-fi and bluetooth function well.
I use my TX every day for various tasks.

Cons: Power switch ... mine died on the last Palm, with this one I have decided to extend the switches life by just letting it power off automatically after a minute most of the time.
Browser ... " Blazer " comes with it ... it leaves a lot to be desired.

Other Thoughts: Good bang for the buck.

Rating + 5 Many uses of Palm Tx

Pros: I've used a PalmTx for a few years (and other models of the Palm before that). Its capabilities are far beyond what is indicated in some of the reviews.

Out of the box the PalmTx is basically a PIM which also has functions such as email and web browsing over WiFi. Like a computer, what it really does depends upon the software you add.

There is a tremendous amount of software available for the Palm, and it is generally available quite inexpensively. The PIM functions are adequate out of the box but there are also several third party programs which make them work better. One reason I use the Palm as my portable PIM is that in syncs very well with Ecco Pro--a powerful desktop PIM which can now be found online for free.

Utilities also overcome many of the limitations. Out of the box it can use 4 GB SD cards--I got a 4 GB 150x card from Transcell which previously was my main card. More recently a 3rd party SD HC driver was written and I now use a 16 GB card as main card.

Cons: Web browsing is far better than WAP and can view regular web pages but is limited compared to a computer so it may or may not suit your needs for portable browsing.

It does crash from time to time but it does reboot back up quickly so this is tolerable. Third party memory utilities help with some of the limitations in its handling of memory.

Other Thoughts: There is also a tremendous number of 3rd party programs. I use it frequently for professional reference works. I use an MP3 player program which also downloads podcasts.

Movies (in several formats) can be viewed on it with quite good quality for such a small device. Storing movies on SD cards allows easy transport of a large amount of material to view.

There are also two ways to watch live TV. MobiTV has a variety of channels. I generally use it with my Sling Player, allowing viewing of cable channels (as well as recorded material) sent from the connection at home.

Rating + 5 Just GREAT!

Pros: Really fast and easy to use device. Good features like wifi and bt are right there and easy to enable. Using wifi to sync my daily tasks to be invoiced at the end of the day works perfectly. BTW, it is PALM OS! No Windows CE! I own one with WinCE (Motorola Q9C)and it was the reason why I had to look for this one. It was my best decision. GREAT PRODUCT!

Cons: Didn't find any till now.

Other Thoughts: Don't understand why this device with all the features that it comes with cannot get WinCE out of people's minds. I am an IT tech and have requests to troubleshoot WinCE systems all the time..... Even with the economy going down people still prefer to throw money away!

Rating + 5 worse support ever

Pros: Yeah, i had a bit of a problem, and decided i wanted to call and see what to do, well i went to the site, theres no email option, just live chat, and its a bit later in the day, they are not on.

so i go to find where to call

They are charging 14.99 per call... that, turns me off all palm products

wont knock off a star because its a good product and theres other support offers, but if u need help asap to do something for work.. well u might have to pay 15 bucks for some help

Cons: eh ^

Rating + 5 Very reliable

Pros: Battery lasts for a month with regular use of about 5 minutes per day. I'm glad I don't have to charge it every couple days like my cell phone. This can play DivX and Xvid Movies with better quality than similar devices like the latest cell phones. It can even play DivX movies directly from the SD card.

Cons: Maximum recognizable SD card is 2GB. You can use a 4GB card if you format the card on your PC instead of the PDA.

Other Thoughts: To play divx movies on this device, just google and download the freeware software called TCPMP.

Rating + 4 There are better ones out there

Pros: Business centered software. Sync software works great. Works with Microsoft Outlook 2007. Love the simple organization programs. Expandable SD slot.

Cons: Interface not "pretty" looking. Too expensive for the features it's offering. Can watch videos but not great viewing angles on the screen. Small storage comparing to competitors. Web browser is not really great. If a website is text and simple graphics then it's ok, when you get to a flash and large coding websites, you'll get weird things going on. Too bad most good websites are the latter.

Other Thoughts: If you want a business device then go with the other palm products or blackberry. If you want a portable media device then get a ipod. This lands somewhere in between and I'm not so sure who it's good for.

I give 4 eggs because it does have all features it promises and they do all work. Just that there are so many better things out there.

Rating + 4 Great PDA

Pros: Compact, nice amount of storage, lots of features, good screen quality, and LOTS of freeware apps out there. I use it to check emails, lite gaming, mp3s, movies, and it's GREAT to have for scribbling things down in a moments notice with no pen and paper. Battery life is pretty good in my opinion also. WiFi and Bluetooth!!!

Cons: Performance wise, it can't stand against the Tapwave Zodiac (but has way better compatibility with apps). Once in awhile I'll get a crash and it'll reset, but with no data loss. Although before purchasing this (I bought it from Palm) I read lots of reviews, and the reseting crashes aren't nearly as bad as I had read. Although maybe it boils down to what apps you are using.

Other Thoughts: The storage is supposed to stay in tact if the battery completely dies, though this has never happened to me yet. But it's nice to know none the less that if it dies, I won't have to spend a lot of time hot sync-ing. If you're more into PDA gaming and emulation, you're better off trying to find a Zodiac somewhere in e Bay or move on to GamePark's handhelds. Otherwise, this is a really nice PalmOS PDA. If you're going to use it for MP3s, movies, and emulation also, make sure to buy you a few 2GB SD cards, if not, the 128mb internal storage should be plenty of storage as far as PalmOS goes. And don't forget screen protectors since using the stylus constantly can and will blotch up your screen. They're pretty cheap so it's no big deal. Much better than replacing the screen itself.

Rating + 5 Palm TX, two years later.

Pros: Rather large, bright screen.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Sound ranges from soft to loud.
SD-card lets me store lots of pictures and music.
Decent selection of software available on the 'net.

Cons: No stand/cradle included like the older models did;
the stand was very handy for bed-side or desk-top use.
English/only.

Other Thoughts: Two days after receiving this, I dropped it into a bowl of salsa. Ouch!.
Cleaned it off as well as I could;
it ran for a year, then the touch-screen died. $20 for a replacement.
Otherwise it has been perfect.

Pros: makes for a grate daily planer thats worth about $5

Cons: dead in 6months originally bought to read pdf files on and its really no good for that any ways girlfriend ended up using it to play solitaire at night and never left the night stand very expensive for some thing that only saw very minor use and died in six months

Other Thoughts: wifi seams like a nice feature but good luck viewing anything form world wide web with this thing for the price spend the extra $100-$200 for an inexpensive ultra portable laptop only reason i gave this 1 egg is because there is no option for no eggs

Rating + 5 Awesome for the right person

Pros: I have owned my TX for about a year and a half. As a college student, I don't carry a cell phone during the day as I don't call but a select number of people. I used to use a day runner/paper planner to keep track of Homework, events, notes, etc. This comparatively small TX replaced that and eliminated the need for replacing planners and paper each semester.

Awesome device for staying organized. Fast, I find the Graffiti section to not be a problem and has a keyboard style available on the screen if you prefer that, and I can wirelessly check my e-mail from class.

Cons: Graffiti takes some time to adjust to, but isn't too big of a deal.

64 bit Vista is not supported with the Palm desktop software that I am aware of. But, a USB bluetooth adaptor can wirelessly sync you to your computer easily.

Other Thoughts: If you aren't reliant on a cell phone or won't die without one, the TX is a great way to stay organized, but still remain connected with the internet.

Rating + 4 The Last Best PDA from Palm

Pros: I've had mine for over 2 years now. I've had similar problems with mine that other people have noted.

But it does support 4 GB cards. I've used one with it since day one. With the open source TCPMP movie player it's a great way to watch movies when on the road. My suggestion would be to let the Palm format the card (in case it was formatted at Fat 16 or something.) I don't know why Palm's tech support wouldn't know that. It should support an 8 GB!

Cons: 1) Power button doesn't work unless I push it <i>just right</i> with my finger nail.

2) Screen calibration has always sucked.

Other Thoughts: It's IMO, that the TX is the pinnacle of the Palm's PDAs. I think it's telling that they have not released any new PDAs except for the other Zire since the TX was released except for on phones. It's not perfect, but it's the best PDA I've ever owned (I've had about 7.)

I personally could not give up the screen size and go to a PDA/Phone combo. I want my phone and PDA to be separate. But I know I'm in the minority, obviously it's where the market has been headed for the past 3 years. When mine finally kicks the bucket, I'll probably buy another. I just can't see myself going for a a mediocre Windows Mobile, when the TX does everything I need. Or maybe I'll just move onto the iTouch. As I mainly use mine as an MP3 player/reader and eReader.com just released a reader for Apple.

But gone are the days of heavy R&D being put into standalone PDAs. It's just the fact.

Rating + 2 Was good once

Pros: Big screen, nice colors. Lots of applications out there, although they are all old now. There are lots of specials at the Palm store as they blow out old inventory (it's all old now). They made the reset button easy to press. Good thing, you need it often.

Cons: My Palm TX served me well over the last 2 years. I put up with the regular crashes, slow sync, random dead battery, frequent lockups, and cumbersome Graffiti 2. Now my battery and power button are wearing out and I'm looking for a replacement PDA. So what is Palm's best? Exact same thing I already have -- two years later, if you can believe it. The OS is around 5 years old by now. Software is drying up, the best stuff is being made for other OS's.

This thing crashes a *lot* when using 3rd party apps. Now that I have started syncing with Outlook I get duplicate tasks and crashes under Calendar.

Other Thoughts: One trick I discovered -- after a couple months of random dead battery I found I always had to return to the main app screen before powering off. Many apps stopped the TX from going to sleep, causing dead battery by morning.

I got a little IR keyboard for the Palm. It feels nice but rarely connects to the TX and then cuts out often while I'm typing. Maybe the bluetooth keyboard works better.

Rating + 4 A good buy... about two years ago...

Pros: Good Screen Size, Integrated wireless a plus. Thin chassis. Excellent e-mail client and document editor. Video playback is excellent.

Cons: Non-user replacable battery. Screen Calibration was off after about a year with no other fix except a screen replacement. Mobile web client leaves much to be desired, esp. with flash interfaces. Wireless B limits productivity. Stock screen cover falls apart after a year's use. Can only play MP3's off of the SD card, not with the onboard memory.

Other Thoughts: Very good purchase when I made it about two years ago. However, prospective buyers might want to look into the HP iPAQ 111 Classic Handheld, as it boasts a Marvell PXA310 624MHz processor, user-preplacable battery, bluetooth v2.0 and wireless-G connectivity.

Rating + 3 Watch Out For Calibration Failure

Pros: I really enjoyed this baby for the year that it lasted. It was my girlfiend and mistress roled into one.

On it I enjoyed pictures, videos, movies, doing my calender reminders, chess, podcasts, I really loved this thing.

Cons: The calibration got messed up after exactly one year. In order to select somthing on the screen I would have to tap below the object.

I could no longer get to icons which were located at the bottom of the screen.

Other Thoughts: I gave this 3 stars just because of the calibration problem, otherwise this device is very good.

Lucky thing I had bought the 2 year warranty from newegg. I got a refund. Now I'm looking for something else which will be better than the palm maybe.

Pros: Sweet throwback to first generation PDAs

Cons: Klunky OS software, no 64 bit support

Pros: Inexpensive, easy to use, ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files

Cons: Ummmmmm, not much......

Other Thoughts: I love it!! I love NewEgg also, this has been a great product so far. It does exactly what I want. Some have complained about the "frequent and random resets" but I have experienced very few of those and the ones I did have were just due to software that was not compatable. I love the wi-fi too!

Pros: nice when it works. I really like the to do list feature.

Cons: some of the software is finicky and freezes up occasionally. My biggest problem is that the power button broke. I can still turn on the device using other buttons, but it doesn't change the fact it's broken and sucks big time.

Other Thoughts: A broken power button = impossible to hard reset

Pros: This PDA has it all. It works great and has many features that are especially useful. I have had mine for months now and no major problems. Most days, I wonder how I lived without it.

Cons: The WiFi is a nice feature, however, the browser on this device is terrible. Most websites do not load.

Other Thoughts: If your buying this as a PDA, it is an excellent product. The WiFi capabilities are very limited, so don't buy it because it can go on the internet.

Pros: Easy to use thus far. Manufacturer was accessible via live chat on their website.

Cons: Will not take a memory card bigger than 2GB. I made the mistake of purchasing the 4GB card and the PDA didn't even see a card in the slot. I contacted Palm and they notified me that it was because my memory cards memory size was too big making the card incompatible.

Other Thoughts: The memory card wasn't too big of an issue because they are cheap. If you manage to run out of room in a 2GB card then for another $10 you can get another card.

Rating + 4 Great! but could stand some changes.

Pros: Does what I need it to do. Read books, create documents, contact numbers, notes, ect.., and listen to my favorite tunes all on the go. Heck you can even watch full length movies if you want to go to the trouble. This "EDP Equipment for use in hazardous locations Class 1, Div 2, Group A,B,C,D" A very helpful feature in my line of work.

Cons: Lost the original stylus, replacment stylus (P/N 406-10334-02) is not a real sutable sub,, as tip comes lose and does not have the same weight, feel as the original, plus I would never use it as a pen. Internal battery is not replacable, but then it would not be rated for hazardous locations. I am currently looking for a hard case as the Old flip cover is wearing out from bending it to the back of the unit. Part number and serial number have worn off the back of my unit. You might want to record this information some place for future use. Two gig-a-bite memory card limit as it can not use the new HD/SD cards.

Other Thoughts: For someone on the go that needs to keep information on hand this works great. Who knows you might even write that next best seller while you are waiting in line.

Pros: It worked well except for many soft reboots for two weeks. That was the longest time I had between Hard Reboots when I had to start all over from scratch.

Cons: have to align pen every time I turn it on or it will hang and I will have to do soft reboot. "Documents to Go" software will not sync when first purchased. Have to upgrade HotSync manager and purchase Documents to Go ver 10 to sync with Office 2007

Other Thoughts: If my company sold a unit that worked this bad, I would take it off the market.

Rating + 5 Palm TX WOW!

Pros: What more can I say? It has a TON of medical programs I can use, with my 1GB card I have tons of space! My Battery can last for three days without charging, and that's using the net daily for about 2 hours a day as an average! I can access wifi from almost anywhere! easy to use, simple to learn, I'd be lost without it constantly at my side. Appointments and Contacts are a SNAP!

Cons: It can be hard to figure out what you need/don't need on it, it can get frustrating when trying to wi-fi and have to wait for the access, and it won't let you do anything else when trying to connect.
I get frustrated in trying to figure out how to clean out unneeded files, and for finding good programs I can use.

Other Thoughts: Overall it's a 8.5 in my book. The overall benefits MORE than outweigh any nuisances, granted I wish it had better software utility support.

Pros: This will do just about everything that I need! It will do almost everything that an iPhone will do for half the price. Great functionality, slim design, and I love the expandable memory slot.

Cons: The Bluetooth capability is limited with many popular brands of phones (like my LG VX8100). Also, to play movies you will need to download a third party program tcpmp (which works great). Pocket tunes could be better, but it works for what I need

Other Thoughts: Get a good SD card right off the bad and you won't be dissapointed. However, the only real dissapointment was that there is no way to interface the palm with your tv. The company told me they are working on it...

Rating + 3 Not for the tecno challenged...

Pros: Big display, bright colors, wi-fi.

Cons: Has a tendency to reset it self at times. Will freeze up for no reason, but comes back. Wi-fi is slow but then again it's only b, not b/g or n for that matter. Also the sound could be a little louder.

Other Thoughts: This PDA is not for the "techno challenged". Got this for my girlfriend thinking it shouldn't be that hard to setup for her since it's not a pocket pc but boy was I wrong. Though it was easier for me to setup, if you are getting this for someone who knows squat about technology be prepared to babysit. To be absolutely fair, some of the applications are not that user friendly. Compared to a friend's 5 year old pocket pc this thing just barely competitive.

I read hundreds of web based reviews, primarily those of consumers, prior to making my purchase as well as researching other devices which included GPS functionality built in. The only common issue I found amongst my research was that it sometimes reboots itself while working. I found this to be true with mine but the process is extremely fast & not at all bothersome. I was a little hesitant prior to my purchase in regards to the wifi connection only being "b" & not "g" as other manufactures offered & having to learn a new non windows based operating system. I was pleasantly surprised to see the wifi "b" connection to be be much faster than I anticipated. There are hundreds of compatible, useful, & entertaining software titles available & more continue to be developed & improved. The Palm TX can also easily be used as a GPS unit by purchasing a bluetooth receiver & compatible software. If you do no

Cons: System self reboots. (but flash memory saves data).

Other Thoughts: Great buy!

Rating + 5 Palm T | X

Pros: I have had the TX for almost two years now. The only trouble that I had was initial setup, and that was because my old Palm software didn't completely uninstall, leaving conflicting data in the Palm directory. This device is great. Tiny package, sync with Outlook, holds photos, music and video, and searches the internet wirelessly. I can sit in my recliner at home and surf the Net. For the best movie playback, download the free TCPMP application. Buy AnyDVD and Clone DVD Mobile instead of Pocket DVD Studio to rip DVDs for playback on the TX. It works great and you get lifetime free upgrades. It also allows ripping for the iPod and others within the same package - something that Pocket DVD Studio doesn't. Also, for watching lots of movies without draining your battery, buy a battery pack that holds 4 AA batteries and plugs into the hot sync port. With that, you can use rechargeable AA batteries and watch a 2 hour movie without touching the internal TX battery.

Cons: It has great battery life, but I would still prefer that it use AA Batteries, in case i gets low and you're away from a place to charge it.

Other Thoughts: Get one. These are awesome. I always have a bunch of movies on SD cards in my TX case in case I'm stuck in a doctor's office or on a plane and want a diversion. I also keep photos of the kids and some from our trip to Europe a couple of years ago on it.

Rating + 5 First PDA fulfills my dreams

Pros: I waited a long time to buy a PDA, but finally I bought a T|X because I wanted mobile calendaring, an address book, and an MP3 player in one place. It took about an hour and the help of an expert coworker, but we got my T|X to sync perfectly with my work calendar (MeetingMaker). Now I'm listening to music, looking at photos, reading work documents in Office, checking my calendar, even writing away using Grafitti 2, all on the lengthy bus commute to work. For me, that's been a dream come true, for a very reasonable price. I haven't had much occasion to use the Bluetooth functions, web browsing or videos, but have done enough to know that they work fine. I purchased a 2-gig expansion card, a must if you want to store photos or music. I can show custom slideshows of photos to friends, and these are significantly larger and clearer than cell phone photos.

Cons: The MP3 player uses P-Tunes, and doesn't play music saved in RealPlayer's or Window Media's proprietary software formats (music must be saved as MP3's, wav's, etc.). I had major problems sync'ing my music library with my T|X at first, but that might have been my lack of understanding of Windows Media Player. A techie at P-Tunes helped a lot, and a $20 card reader allows me to load tunes right from my computer to my PDA, without having to fuss with either RealPlayer or Windows Media Player.

Other Thoughts: If you don't care about having a camera or phone in your PDA, this is just terrific. This was the first time I'd used NewEgg, and I found the reviews helpful. The delivery and service was outstanding. The whole experience was almost too easy.

Rating + 3 Palm TX Close but no Cigar

Pros: This device edits word docs powerpoints and reads pdf files with graphics. WIFI Blue tooth and web browser. Over clockable 312mhz to around 400mhz.this device is very fast ,and not Windows based.

Cons: Palm TX will not play flash video through its browser. Web video streaming is very limited you will not be able to watch you tube or any other web videos without buying Kinoma, but it does not do as much as it advertises. Some You Tube videos play through the kinoma media guide, but not many. Kinoma also crashes the Operating System periodicay.

Other Thoughts: There are better PDAs out there. All palm has to do to fix the video problem is issue a patch for the browser software, but they refuse to.

Rating + 5 My Best PDA

Pros: I absolutly love this PDA. The Palm OS offers the abiltiy for many 3rd party applications. I love using it for web, music, movies, documents. Wi-Fi is easy to use. I love the blue-tooth features as well.

Cons: None whatsoever. I have thrown everything at this PDA and I still love it.

Other Thoughts: If you want to watch movies on this PDA get Pocket DVD studio. Transfer the avi files directly to your card, not through hot-sync. I had a problem with this PDA once, Palm replaced it for free.

Rating + 5 Excellent so far...

Pros: My Pocket PC that I had for about 4 years kept resetting so I felt it was time to upgrade. I was going to buy another pocket PC but form reviews seems like the TX was the best value per dollar. I needed it to be able to sync with outlook and it does. I'm a technician and am able to store whole service manuals in PDF form on expansion SD cards. Some complain on the non-removable battery but I think that's a plus. On my pocket pc the battery kept dislodging. The battery on the TX seems to last four times as long.

Cons: None seen so far.

Other Thoughts: I've had the item for about a month, and fortunately have not seen any of product quality issues so far. I'm glad I got the two year replacement warranty just in case.

Pros: See my prior review.

Cons: See my prior review.

Other Thoughts: **1 Year Update** I've been using the TX for a little over a year now and have had 0 problems. I run several third party apps and stability is perfect, I honestly have NEVER had to reset the device. My aluminum case has saved my TX countless times, I recommend the Rhinoskin.

Rating + 1 Too many problems, not stable, waste of money

Pros: Better battery life than previous Palm pda's.

Cons: Screen drift, poor compatability, short screen life, unstable product, many problems.

Other Thoughts: After less than a year the screen on my palm is giving out with a dead spot, repair by palm is as expensive as a new one, random reboots cause loss of files, calibrating the screen is impossible due to the "mad digitizer syndrome". Seeking for advice I find that these issues are so common that numerous secondary business have sprung up to address them. Palm does not.

Rating + 2 Good idea, full of problems.

Pros: Feature rich.
WiFi.
Good battery life.
SD compliant (low cost expansion cards.)
PalmOS is fanstatic as a datebook, contact organizer.
Lots of low-cost applications and free apps.
If you've used Palm in the past, the step up is easy.
Good price for a solid PDA.
Decent battery life for light use. Even with WiFi, you can get several hours of use out of it.

Cons: Frequent freeze-ups requiring resets.
Low-quality manufacturing.
Poor warranty.
Poor customer support from Palm.
Many known issues with the touchscreen. It will simply die in spots where the screen isn't responsive to touches.
Showing it age in terms of speed and features.

Other Thoughts: I had the Palm TX for exactly 51 weeks when my screen had a large area that simply wasn't responsive to taps. It wasn't dead pixels, but a big area right in the middle of the screen where 75% of the time you would be tapping.

Palm customer service wasn't helpful at all. In doing some research, I found a LOT of people with exactly the same problem.

I loved the Palm while it worked, and I thought that the warranty issues would be fixed, but that wasn't the case. After 6 years of using Palm devices, I had to walk away.

The TX is a great device in theory. And it worked well for about a year. But like many others, I found out the hard way that the TX suffers from many manufacturing defects.

Pros: Fast processor, effective full web page rendering (almost no flash), relatively strong wireless, large screen

Other Thoughts: I'd buy it again

Pros: Love the features, especially the wireless internet, easy to use

Cons: the new grafitti is a little different than my old palm and took some getting used to. Warranty is AWFUL! My touchscreen died after a few months, which was out of the 90-day warranty and it was almost as cheap to replace as fix!!

Other Thoughts: There is definately known problems with the touchscreen and Palm needs to either upgrade it or give a better warranty!

Rating + 4 Good, but I expected more...

Pros: Solid construction, has good basic functionality, has a lot of software and accessories available for it, decent battery life, large Palm user community to get tips and help from.

Cons: Versamail (the email program) leaves a bit to be desired, slow booting after a reset, the browser is really basic, system is less stable than I would've liked, bluetooth capabilities lacking.

Other Thoughts: Its good for the basic user, but if you want more advanced functionality look elsewhere. My biggest peeve is the lack of bluetooth support for CDMA phones; Palm wants you to buy a Treo. Knowing what I know now then I would've saved up my money a little longer and got a PocketPC. Palm OS is on the way out

Rating + 3 Not Perfect But Still Awesome

Pros: (1) Turns on instantly, (2) The sync program doubles as a backup system, so I no longer need to keep my calendar/contacts/tasks/memos online - if my PDA dies, all the info is on my hard drive - and if my hard drive dies, all the info is on my PDA. Awesome. (3) Relatively big screen. (4) The wi-fi works great. (5) If this is your first PDA and you're a geek/tech guy/girl, this gadget WILL change your life. And with #2 above, you can feel safe moving everything about your life into this PDA, as it's all backed up!

Cons: I thought I could watch movies on here (purchased a 2 GB card to go with it), but it takes literally HOURS to transfer anything over 25 MB to this thing. ALSO NOTE: Research the email capabilities before you buy! The TX does NOT support Gmail because it does not support SMTP over SSL. You will be able to get and read email, but you won't be able to send email through Gmail. This should be disappointing to you, because Gmail is one of the few reliable free POP email services (and you will need POP to get email on the TX).

Other Thoughts: The sync program, while really helpful, does have some minor drawbacks. Others have mentioned crashing and this is true. With a little bit of troubleshooting and a brain you should be able to fix the crashing if it starts to occur. The reason why I gave this 3 eggs is because this TX has been out for quite a while and they haven't fixed any of this stuff, which is incredibly disappointing. Also, buy a case for this thing (they sell the rhino skin here on Newegg), it will be a good investment.

Rating + 5 Good solid unit

Pros: Totally stable.WL network connectivity seems pretty solid and display detail is nice (sharp and bright).

Cons: Included carrying case would have been nice, but oh well.

Other Thoughts: The main cause of instability issues is the installation of (some) third party SW. Rule of thumb w/ any Palm device is if after a recent SW installation the unit becomes unstable, remove the most recently installed SW. Newegg product delivery as promised in a timely manner. Kudos to both (Palm and Newegg) for a job well done. I opted for the extended warranty, a good idea especially with portable technology. Smiles and enjoy!

Pros: Has all the features I want at a reasonable price. Functions wonderfully, bright, large screen. I like the full-color display and its ability to play short family videos.

Cons: Mine has needed in-warranty service twice during the year I've had it. Each time, it was gone just three or four days shy of a month. Given the nature of its intended use, I consider this slow service totally unacceptable.

Other Thoughts: Before buying another PDA, I'll be checking the forums for other users' service experiences.

Rating + 4 A Great Palm for the money

Pros: I got one of these for $xxx about a year and a half ago. I have used it constantly since then. It has everything anyone could ask for in a Palm and then some. My favorite uses are the Calendar, and the MP3 player. I have also used it to take notes, set tasks for myself, and surf the internet!
The display is the biggest one available in the Palm line. Pics are lifelike in color.
The bluetooth is amazing. I bought an adapter for my PC and now I sync with the bluetooth, rather than the dongle (which quit working after about a year's use).
The WiFi connection is great and will connect fairly well. I have found the best reception to be when I am in the same room with the router. After about 20 feet the reception drops off the chart. You can use it to connect to the internet, and view sites almost full size width by rotating the display.

Cons: On the downside, the battery is not user replaceable, and here recently it has started to weaken. I haven't tried to have it repaired yet, since it is still good for about three hours of use. However, it used to last a lot longer.
Also, the dongle that came with the Palm to sync it to my PC quit working after a year. Not that much of a con, since you can sync with WiFi or Bluetooth.
The mp3 player that comes with the Palm is not all that good. However, for 20 bucks you can get the full featured player off of the internet and the sound is spectacular.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you get screen protectors. They are fairly expensive, but you will be writing on the screen constantly, and the protectors greatly increase the longevity of the device.
Also, I recommend a third party aluminum carrying case. This boy is rather bulky, but worth it for all the use you will get out of it.
This is the third Palm I have owned and by far the best. I really don't need to upgrade to the latest LifeDrive, because this one is more than adequate. I have saved a bundle on MP3 players, flash drives, bulky calendars, easily misplaced address books, etc, because this one unit does it all.

Pros: I really don't have time for a thorough review and spell check, but this PDA is so cool I just have to chime in my 2 cents. I think it only fair since I'm enjoying the thing so much. Rating + 1 Avoid at all costs

Pros: Bluetooth, 802.11, a decent processor, and SD bring this latest iteration of my old palm 5x into the 21st century.

Cons: It didn't last more than a couple of months. I had to send it back to Palm because of digitizer problems. And SLOW. It was much slower than my beat up 4 year old ixxq 1945.

Other Thoughts: This is not a competitive PDA. It's too big (although the length and width make it seem skinny), it's too slow, and too expensive. My pocket PC came with Word and Excel, as well as pocket Outlook.
Of course, Newegg is the best.

Pros: Great PDA. Does everything that you might want in a PDA. Plus is that it can work with word, excel and (view) powerpoint (I like to keep finances and car mileage in excel). Nice to synch over WiFi -- no wires :) -- or surf the net at a hot spot.

Cons: Doesn't last. I've had it in for service 2x and it's dying again.
Largish (not really pocket size -- but how do you fit a nice display in your pocket anyway)

Other Thoughts: Get the extended warranty. Mines out of extended warranty and dying again. Time for something else.

Pros: Nice screen. WiFi. Stable (I don't use alot of 3rd party apps, so I haven't had any crash issues.) Syncing over WiFi network. Newegg service - of course.

Cons: I wish it had a back button or jog wheel on the side like my old Clie'... but that's just 'habit' on my part.

Rating + 5 greatest palm yet

Pros: this thing is fast and the display is the best one i have seen on a palm, and i only have had to do a soft reset it once and i have had it about 3 weeks or so, this thing works awesome, works well as a mp3 player too, and the battery life is pretty good as long as you don't use the wireless. it last as long as my cell phone witch is about 4 or 5 days and that is with me using it as a mp3 player as well

Cons: it was not free! and if you want to use this to surf the internet you better be close to a wall outlet because when you turn on the wireless it uses the battery up real fast and it is slow when using it to browse the internet but it is nice to have if you need to check your email real fast and don't want to lug out your laptop. these are really not cons but this is not meant to replace your laptop!!!

Other Thoughts: i upgraded from a old and tired palm M130 witch was great but this palm blows it out of the water. i would buy it again

Rating + 4 fast, but unstable

Pros: This unit is quite fast, and is easily able to handle everything from high-resolution video to video game emulation. Wifi is easy to use. There are a large number of programs out there (both free and commercial) to do just about everything you could ever imagine. Screen is clear and crisp.

Cons: Palm OS 5.4 is about as unstable as Windows 95, and maybe even then some. 3rd party software often crashes the palm, as do many everyday tasks (such as loading certain websites). Wifi disconnects after about 5 minutes of not being used, not a major concern but there have been occasions where it has caused minor problems.

Other Thoughts: I've read from many sources that the Intel ARM in this palm natively runs at around 400mhz, and not the 312mhz set by PALM. Looks like an overclock might by in order. I also second the recommendation to get TCPMP, it blows away Palms built in player.

Pros: Wifi, Bluetooth for cheap
The sound volume in headphones is high enough to use in noisy areas.
Includes lots of useful office software. Wifi works great, and BT works with all phones and hubs

Cons: Limited Bluetooth profiles, Bluetooth sound would make car integration much easier. The palm crashes with old AOL IM so if you use it prepare for reboot loop (can be fixed by storing it on SD and doing resets w/o card)

Other Thoughts: I recommend installing TCPMP for video playback, google maps for traffic information (need active wifi) avantgo (for reading new when bored), ez-calc (graphical calculator) and look at gromAudio car integration.

Pros: This Palm does everything well. It's fast, and dependable. Connecting to a wireless network and surfing the web is easy. Very low power consumption, compared to my old WinCE-based PDA. It sync's up with my Mac just as easily as it would with a PC. The display is the best I've ever seen in a PDA - video and pictures are clear and crisp.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Extra screen protectors are expensive, but worth it. I bought a memory card and Rhinoskin case and those are definitely worth the cost.

Rating + 3 Nice Feature, but the support...

Pros: Great crisp display, shifts to landscape view easily, wide range of 3rd party software, wi-fi and bluetooth.

Cons: Palm support is not good. The device is seriously unstable with most 3rd party software. Mine has been RMA'd to Palm twice. Paltry, pathetic 90 warranty

Other Thoughts: If you install 3rd party software you WILL become intimately familiar with hard resets. This is my 4th Palm device, except for the venerable Handspring Visor all were RMA'd at least once. Their hardware quality is not very good. The Garnet OS seems far less than stable. If you have any 3rd party software installed the advice is always a hard reset. I had to RMA it because it became impossible to tap the buttons at the bottom of the screen. Maybe I just got a lemon on the RMA, but if that's true it should have never been sent to me. I suspect they wipe and recycle someone else's RMA and send it out to the next customer. After spending over twelve hundred bucks for 4 palm devices, accessories and software I'm holding out for and Apple iPhone.

Other Thoughts: While I really want to like this, the Media center incompatibility is a big problem for me as one of the main computers I use is a media center one. Pros: Nice big screen, good for when I take notes in class, web browsing nice and logical. I can watch videos at a decent quality and listen to music. Very good Battery Management (i.e. lasts for a long time)

Cons: Palm does not currently have the drivers for it to work via bluetooth with any of the cdma phones (verizon, sprint). so forget about using a BT enabled phone as a modem. How ever, you can still use it to dial phone numbers out of your address book. That and it doesnt support as many forms of WiFi encryption as I would like.

Other Thoughts: Despite the length of my list of Cons and the brevity of my Pros, I would reccoment this to device to any of my friends, family or co-workers.

Pros: A nice toy. Most of the soft that came with my old Tungsten E works on this one, too.

Cons: Is picky to SD cards. Ex. Does not accept Corsair 60x 2GB (my old Tungsten E does). Difficult to find any reference on compatible SD cards.

Other Thoughts: Before buying, think if 1) You really need to browse Internet, using WAP; and 2) You are really going to buy and watch video on 320x480 screen. If there is slightest doubt, maybe you should invest in something else. Treo or other smartphone?

Pros: This Palm is great, I used to owned a HP Pocket PC and Palm TX is much better!. Is fast, synchronizes smoothly with bluetooth. The wi-fi works great, I have WPA shared key encryption on my linksys router and works perfectly.

Cons: Battery life could be better, but I can live with it. I wasn't expecting to last too long, bluetooth and wi-fi plus a high res screen drains the battery fairly quick. By quick I mean a couple of days.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend you to get a case for this device. I got the Rhino Skin and it rocks!

Rating + 5 Love it--one exception

Pros: Love the *bright* screen and the landscape view. Plenty of on-board memory is a plus, especially after being used to my old 515. WiFi works well but, the screen is just too small for serious web browsing. Got a keyboard for it and it is now taking the place of my laptop in most situations.

Cons: My son and I both have a problem with the touch-screen sensitivity drifting after a few months of use. When working near the bottom of the screen, I find I have to touch a full line below my target.

Other Thoughts: To be fair, I haven't contacted Palm about this problem; but, I intend to right away. I'm certain Palm will fix this so I am also certain I will buy again.

Rating + 5 Great PDA-Some Software Conflicts

Pros: Excellent, clear colorful screen. Outstanding Wi-Fi range. Great battery life. Lots of great programs available.

Cons: Has an issue with software conflicts causing constant and uncontrollable resets.

Other Thoughts: This is one great PDA. The screen is phenomenal and it's easy to use whether you use Grafitti 2 or the touchscreen keyboard. I had an issue with the TX resetting over and over and it was uncontrollable. The only solution was to do a complete hard reset (soft reset didn't work) which erases everything. However, if you hot sync regularly, you don't lose much since your programs will reload when you sync and it even keeps your place in documents. I determined thru trial and error that the resetting issue was due to a program I installed (a clock program). When I uninstalled it, the TX went back to working flawlessly. So bottom line is, it's a great unit worth buying but try shareware software first to be sure there is no conflict with other programs on the TX. Fortunately for me, I was just trying the clock program on freeware so it didn't cost me anything. I highly recommend the TX.

Pros: Instant startup. Low battery draw. Large amounts of downloadable programs some free, others not free. Blue-tooth works great. I was able to link with my nokia phone to make a backup of my contacts. All Flash and no moving parts is also a benefit. I am not afraid to abuse it. I don't have to pay a monthly fee to go online through a device the size of a bar of soap ;> aahem blackberry.

Cons: Once you re-learn how to write the letters, "T, R, H, B, I, and K" you will raise your head in triumph only to un-gently wake up in a world of laser projected keyboards, voice type, thumb wheels, cell phone predictive text, and other less archaic data input methods. The ergonomics of holding what is essentially a short plastic pixie stick and writing letters on a nice looking but delicate touch screen is tiresome. An accessory keyboard is essential for any sentences more complex than 3rd grade.

Other Thoughts: That being said, it is still a very useful tool for day to day activities. Even in New York unlocked wireless internet isn't as prevalent as one would hope. The rhino-skin case (essential and substantially cafe suave) reduces wireless signal. As far as file management is concerned get use to not using the words File, Save As, and Open. You can't open up a disk and see what is on it (as far as I can tell). The options menu always is limited to the point of being annoying. I came from using a Psion 5 Series to using this. The Psion 5 was light-years ahead in its ergonomics, process steps, file management, data input, but this palm blows it out of water with connectivity and pretty screen.

Rating + 5 Great Gadget

Pros: Good battery life. Music and videos play great on it. Screen is outstanding. I really like the layout of PalmOS and the buttons on the unit itself. Many handy programs out there that are free and work great.

Cons: I had some serious issues with the Palm the first few days after I got it. It would constantly restart over and over. But later found out it was due to programs I was installing on it. The restarting loop can be very agrevating.

Other Thoughts: Definately get a better case for the unit. The "case" or flap it should be called isn't great at all. I just got an aluminum RhinoSkin and its great.

Rating + 4 Good PDA for the technically self-reliant...

Pros: Palm has a good combo of goodies on this PDA, which made me purchase this instead of the Axim or the HP. I like the beefy stylus and the clean layout of the software, unlike Windows Mobile which I feel looks a bit cluttered. It's light and thin, has an MP3 player and wireless for when I'm stuck in the airport. Great battery life. New Egg ROCKS with their support!! I'll never buy from anyone else for my electronics and PC modding needs!!!

Cons: There is NO technical support for this product. Palm's idea of tech support is a customer forum on the website where customers can "help each other." It's actually humorous to see some of the entries in the forum: some people have posted 3 and 4 times with no reponse from customers OR Palm, and good luck trying to find a technical support phone number. So if you want to use this, make sure you are a technical guru or you have a lot of time to invest, 'cause you won't get much help from Palm.

Other Thoughts: Won't dial phone numbers on my Razr using Bluetooth as advertised due to a "driver problem." No support on this from Palm, of course...

Rating + 4 Just like the T3

Pros: Excellent screen size.

lots of memory.

Applications are great.

Cons: The Hotsynch and power connections are terribly sensitive; not the best design.

No hardcopy of a manual nor was it included on the CD - had to download it.

Other Thoughts: This is almost a clone of my T3 which died a slow death this month. I wasn't too happy there weren't more differences, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Rating + 2 Palm T|X

Pros: It has a nice screen and built in wi-fi.

Cons: Stability. its very hard to believe that a company can release a product that fails so often. Half the programs I run cause the palm to reset itself over and over again in a loop.
This was a total waste of money. I will NEVER buy a palm product again!

Other Thoughts: I should of just stuck with my laptop.

Pros: This is my first PDA and I'm very pleased with it. No issues whatsoever and easy to set up and use. Very impressed with the OS and apps like Docs to Go, Adobe Reader etc. WiFi works perfectly and easy to set up. Same for Versamail. HotSync is a snap to use. Screen is very good quality and easy to read and navigate. Overall this PDA is really awesome!

Rating + 5 Nearly Perfect

Pros: Slim size, fits in pants pocket in an aluminum case. Plays mp3's and movies. Great screen.

Cons: The pre-installed media player is uhh...not good. No mic/voice recorder. A volume dial would be nice.

Other Thoughts: Obviously, you will need an SD card to store movies and/or music.
Palm's specs clearly state that only up to 2g SD cards are supported, however, 4g SD cards DO WORK. They just don't hotsync. You may have to use a seperate card reader/writer to put media on it, and remember to remove it before each Hotsync.
The supplied music player is fine but the movie player is barely adequate. A common (and free) media player, and a ripping/conversion program are required for the TX to be a VERY capable video player.

Pros: Very strong WiFi with great features. Comes with a lot of great applications. Battery life is fantastic. The screen is the best. An added bonus for me is that it is great for listening to podcast.

Cons: The so-called case is a joke. I bought a Rhinoskin 00497 metal case.

Other Thoughts: All in all the best PDA out there hands down.

Rating + 4 Maybe best PDA available

Pros: Overall it's a great organizer. People I show it too are often amazed with it's capability.

Cons: I would have given it 5 stars except on-off switch is intermittent and VersaMail 3.1c would hang during hot sync with Outlook 2003. My workaround for the bad on-off switch is to press the center navigator button which brings up the clock. You can either hit okay with the stylus or punch the button again and you wind up where you were when it shut off. I upgraded Docs to Go to the premium version and that e-mail client syncs up fine. Other option is VersaMail 3.5, but Docs to Go premium also came with a PDF viewer that was far superior to the Adobe version free with the T|X.

Other Thoughts: I've had mine for 9 months. I've only had a couple of spontaneous resets and once it seemed to run down the battery for no reason overnight. I've had no issue with the WiFi other than many websites have too many graphics, but the Palm linked websites are fast and generally give me all I need (weather, news). Wi-fi works great with Yahoo e-mail. Avantgo occasionally gets messed up and requires a refresh of all content. I have a friend with a Dell Axim xv50 and he's had so many issues with it he doesn't use it anymore. He told me his routinely runs the battery down every night due to reminders popping up and the Axim waits for someone to cancel them.

Rating + 5 Last PDA was a 3Com Palm

Pros: The screen is big and bright. Web browser is quick and easy to use. Graffiti input is displayed on the screen, which is great user feedback. Overall, the UI is simple and uncluttered. Office documents (especially PowerPoint) are rendered very well.

Cons: Included screen cover is just that - for the screen *only*. No protection is provided for the back of the device. Limited documentation is provided. No microphone for voice memos.

Other Thoughts: I've had two PDAs in my life prior to this: a 3Com Palm and a Philips Velo (a WinCE disaster with an integrated modem). The Palm always worked - it was simple. Now that Wi-fi is integrated, color screens are standard, and memory is no longer an issue, I saw every reason to buy.

Pros: large bright display
holds stylus well - hasn't worn out like some do
Bluetooth & WiFi syncing
power cable is compatible with the Treo 650 charger
holds charge well

Cons: button sensitivity is lacking -- have to press power button and other buttons a couple times to turn it on/off

Other Thoughts: If Palm fixed the button issues with this device it would be perfect. Even syncs easily in Linux!

Rating + 4 9 months later

Pros: The screen is clear and bright. The size of the screen with the shrinking graffiti area is great when viewing images and daily schedules. I wasn't sure how much I'd use the screen rotation feature, but it's handy for viewing email and certain websites.

The battery life is impressive. I've gone three days without a charge using lots of wifi and playing music and still had 50% charge remaining. This Palm with an SD card has entirely replaced my MP3 player. The external speaker is even good enough to play music when I don't want to dig out an FM transmitter.

The stock stylus is the best I've found on any PDA during the last 10 years.

Although I haven't used Wifi as much as I thought I would, it's been great to have. I often use the Palm as a wifi availability detector to decide whether I should get out my laptop.

Cons: "Graffiti 2" is poorly designed. I thought I just had to get used to it, but after 9 months, I still don't like it. It's slower to recognize letters and often combines "L" and "space" into "T", etc. I recommend changing the text input method with after-market software.

After about 2 months, the touchscreen stopped responding accurately to writing in certain portions of the digitizer. I have to press really hard to get proper recognition. The plastic digitizer seems less durable than the older glass ones.

The OS still needs work. I have to reset the Palm about once a week because of lock-up. The device doesn't respond to the power button for several seconds after disconnecting from the charge cable. Pressing the keypad to bring up the clock takes a second or more whereas the Tungsten T showed the time instantly.

I miss the voice memo feature from the Tungsten T.

Other Thoughts: I've owned the Palm TX for about 9 months. If I were buying another PDA today, I would still buy this one. However, I wish I had tried Graffiti 2 so that I knew what I was getting into.

Graffiti 2 and the OS bugs keep me from rating a 5.

Rating + 5 Very Nice

Pros: This unit is fast, the screen looks great, the sound is wonderful, and the interface is easily learned. Landscape mode is awsome and it can accept rather large SD cards (I use a 2GB card). There are tons of aftermarket applications for this thing. Built-in WiFi is a great tool.

Cons: I sometimes have to press the power button twice to turn it on. had to soft reset twice so far (once per week), but no info lost on the unit.

Other Thoughts: I am running a movie program on this thing and it looks phenominal! The internet browsing is crazy fun when you're out and about. I am definately NOT dissapointed.

Pros: Awesome PDA. Fast, easy to navigate. Wi-fi is strong depending on distance from wireless unit. Picture and video clarity is outstanding.

Pros: This palm is the best palm ever. If u dont want a trio this is the next best thing.

Cons: The palm WI-FI is Ok, bluetooth is good but to get on the internet with it u need a phone with bluetooth. Battery is horable. All of the preeloaded things like docs to go are not full they are the demo of the product.

Other Thoughts: This palm is a good palm if u need a palm but is horable if u can afford a Pocket PC, or a Smart Phone, Blackbarry, and ETC.

Pros: I can watch video, listen to music, go online and play chess. Fits in my jeans pockets w/o being uncomfortable. Wifi is strong and stable. Never crashed unless I installed an unstable program, otherwise its pretty solid.

Rating + 5 Great PDA, very affordable, good wireless

Pros: Haven't used PalmOS in almost 10 years. Very happy to see how far it's come. The TX is physically one of the best designed I've ever seen. Java VM and Opera Mini install easily, great surfing. Wireless works great with WPA-PSK (TKIP) and doesn't drop even in usually difficult building. Portrait/Landscape rotation is fast and makes great usability. Very pleased!

Cons: The future PalmOS is currently uncertain. No built-in keyboard. The included browser (nor any others I can find) does not support Javascript well, hardly and DHTML, and forget AJAX apps. Palm OS does not let some older apps (Satellite Forms) turn off the onscreen keyboard.

Other Thoughts: Very impressed with the directness of functionality. Most things you want, nothing you don't want. Puts other PDAs to shame. NewEgg shipped fast, good price, as always!

Rating + 4 great gizmo!

Pros: this is great. The 100mb of available storage is great, I thought it would be too low but the apps aren't that big. The OS is rock solid, and the software that comes with it is great if you're not too tech savvy but once you start looking around for PDA apps you soon find out there are programs out there which are far better, although they cost money.

Cons: Wifi totally drains the battery (not a big con, but one nonetheless)
Sometimes the interaction between the stylus and the screen is somewhat odd. I'll use the qwerty kb that comes with the graffiti software and when i get to pecking really fast the software sometimes misinterprets my pecks. Nevertheless these complaints are minor and I don't think you can do better for the price at this point in time (8/11/06).

Rating + 5 Absolutely Rocks!

Pros: Outstanding screen, stable OS, great stylus. Runs everything I throw at it - movies, MP3, can read Office docs/PDF's. Wireless is idiot-proof, as is Bluetooth. Syncs with my T-Mobile PEBL using GPRS. Great connection. I use it as asubstitute for my laptop.

Cons: Could be a little smarter when trying to connect wirelessly in how it chooses to use bluetooth vs. Wi-Fi. Updated most major apps (launcher, docs to go, IM, media player, datebook, contact manager) as the ones that come with it are weak or don't exist. But, hey, as a platform it is awesome.

Other Thoughts: HotSyncing via Wi-Fi is VERY nice. No more cables, and can do it from anywhere in the house. Put in an A-Data 4GB card for more memory.

Pros: Moved from a older model that was 7 years old. So no way it could be worse.
Battery life last about 10days or more with no WiFi or Bluetooth. Connects VERY easily into network(s). The Bluetooth autodial for my phone is cool! Screen is beautiful! I use it like a wallat and show off my kids! I also use the memory slot for music while riding to work on the train. So this thing is a wallet, phone dialer, ipod... oh and did I mention it does the normal palm things too. Reminders, calendar, phone numbers, notes!! Absolutely Great!

Cons: Battery life is about 10 days with no WiFi or Bluetooth.
My older model could last about 4 weeks with one charge and everyday use, but it was not color, and had a tiny screen.

Other Thoughts: This baby does everything I need it to do.
Great buy from New Egg as usual!

Rating + 5 Excellent

Pros: The first Palm I thought sufficient to finally replace my Palm Vx. It is only slightly bigger than my old Vx, but is superior in every way except battery life. Bluetooth and wlan are awesome and often used. Bluetooth range is excellent-- I can sync with my computer from a different floor of my house. Wlan is nice, supports WPA, range is good, even inside metal case.

Cons: Battery life is not what I was used to, but that was expected. Bluetooth and wlan really suck down battery. Still, it has plenty of juice to go a few days with moderate usage, or a couple weeks with light usage.

Other Thoughts: Full screen mode and screen rotation (landscape mode) are other wonderful features which I use often.

Cons: no voice recorder, and I kinda miss the fun little cam but other than that nothing.

Other Thoughts: This is my thrid palm that I have owned, I up graded from the Zire 72 for college and Its by far the best one in the palm line up. I have had to use a T3 while at work and this palm blows the T3 clean out of the water. I'm also not a big fan of Cradles because they just seem to get in the way. I like being able to hold it in my hand to work on and still have it pluged in

Rating + 5 1,000,000 uses!

Pros: Great battery life, even if you don't use it, it still holds it's charge. Can use it for just about anything, audio, video, internet, email, pictures, bluetooth transfers to a phone, I was able to transfer full songs to my phone. Since you can find basically any program you need something for, for free, that is another major factor. The T|X is great for writing down small notes, not even having to know 'grafiti'(Palm's proprietary writing system), when you want to go get food orders for your coworkers or an IP address for work.

Cons: Small issues with Hot Sync, but works fine now. Tech support somehow did the exact same thing I was doing and had it work correctly. Another small issue with the power button - it seems to not want to turn on sometimes, but it may just be to make sure you're actually pressing it and not something pressing it in your pocket. None of these things made me want to give it 4 stars as it has been trouble free since then, no lockups, battery problems, NOTHING!

Other Thoughts: Well worth the money in my opinion, I will be using it to watch movies on a flight, listening to music in the airport and keeping track of all my flights in it. When I get back to school I'll use it to keep track of classes too, as mentioned before, there is a program for anything. I've used nothing better. I use it way more than my iPod.

I'm quite impressed with the battery life and the processing speed. It'll lag a little when writing, but I can hardly tell in class taking notes.

Cons: The Grafiti 2 took some time, but I bought the keyboard with it so I didn't use it that often and there was a bit of downloading that had to be done before I could watch movies, but not that big a deal at all!

Rating + 4 Not as nice as the T|3...

Pros: Lightweight and thin, easily fits in your pocket. Enough memory for a good amount of information, with data stored in flash instead of RAM as before so a dead battery doesn't kill memory. Large heavy (metal) stylus that is easy to hold and write with. Built in WiFi is great for checking email on the go. Very stylish in black!

Cons: No longer comes with cradle, only has seperate charger adaptor similar to most cell phones. No longer has microphone for voice record (one my my favorite features of the T|3. Feels cheap compared to the T|3, possibly not as durable? (haven't broken it yet!) SD slot no longer has a door, but instead has a filler card that must be inserted after removing the SD card (easy to loose, and if you're like me you will accidentally pop it out).

Other Thoughts: Cleaner interface than the competition, and much better price point... but still not as functional as the competition. If you need a personal organizer for keeping track of your events and tasks on a individual level, this is great. If you want something that will integrate with other products, this product might not be the best choice. The system is very stable and fast, and has not crashed once on me, which I cannot say either for my company issued cell phone that runs a competing OS.
