Nice GPS
Pros: Fast satellite acquisition. Decent Battery life.
Cons: Somewhat spendy.
Other Thoughts: I picked up this GPS after hauling an older-model Garmin around in the field while doing survey work in South America. The Sirfstar version in this model seems to be a significant upgrade from both a battery life and a general signal quality standpoint as well. In addition to the generic "where am I," this GPS makes for an entrertaining mountain biking accessory and a useful driving companion (particularly when you get sent to places where you're getting a GPRS signal at absolute best).

great gps
Pros: Works great in forests with thick tree canopy. Replaces a Triton 400. Costs more ,but well worth the extra money.
Cons: pricey for a hand held gps.

Best Handheld GPS
Pros: Very sturdy. I use it on Mt. bike rides and have is track every second. Very accurate.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: If you get this and live in a state where the newest chips are available for routable maps and detailed contour lines, you MUST get this chip. I live in CA and I have the CA-NV chip. They're about 100.00 but make the GPS invaluable.

Garmin 60CSX Rocks!
Pros: Unit performs just as expected. This was not my first experience with a GPS. Others had lost signal under tree cover. This unit really surpassed my expectations. Holds signals great and works extremely well with the Topomaps. A must have. Has many features that I don't need now but will in the future as I put them to the test. Great for tracks, routes, hunting, fishing, boating and geocaching with quick downloads. I can't see how any one can be disappointed with this unit. I may add that Garmin supplies the quickest customer support I've ever encountered for needing help on the phone. Go Garmin!
Cons: My next unit will be the Garmin Rhino for hunting in groups.
Other Thoughts: Make sure to get yourself a set of the rechargeable NiMh 2500 mAh Energizer batteries. I have 4. 2 for a spare. I often forget to turn the unit off and it lasts all night and most of the next day.

A Geocaching Favorite
Pros: Very nice for geocaching, despite its age. Can do navigation as well, though you'll need more maps.
Cons: For a map-based GPSr, it doesn't come with much of a map set.
Other Thoughts: Have fun out there!

Very Impressive
Pros: this gps is one of the most sensitive and accurate that i have ever used. tons of features. i use it for geocaching and it works great.
Cons: for some reason it will not save any of my system settings like balcklight adjustment, etc... not a big deal though
Other Thoughts: to give you an idea of how sensitive this is, i can get a signal in my full basement. this gps is also about $100 cheaper on newegg than any competitor:) Go newegg!!!

Excellent Handheld GPS
Pros: This handheld GPS unit from Garmin is one of the best on the market. Is is outstanding for both outdoor and auto use. Has too many features to list here.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Would like to see a thermometer in the next version. Would also like to see it waterproof, although this model is "water resistant" I do not think it would survive being dropped in water covering it.

Great for Geocaching
Pros: High sensitivity, replaceable AA batteries, easy to use interface
Cons: None that I can thing of.
Other Thoughts: Already have a Nuvi 200 for car navigation, and was using it for geocaching, but it was only approximate. (icon of a car overlapping a icon of a geocache will only get you in the ballpark) This GPS was awesome. Tried on the 3 geocaches I have looked for since I have bought this, it has put me within 4-6 feet of the geocache. It is easy to add geocaches from the website, and super quick and simple to look search for a cache.

Best GPS
Pros: Excellent machine! I travel for the IT department to other branches of our bank and I use this with Topo USA. I also purchased a 4 gig mini SD card that works perfectly with this device.
Cons: Wasn't free.....LOL!
Other Thoughts: I'm buying another one for my wife.

Great GPS
Pros: Very high sensitivity and accuracy, great for geocaching, navigation and trip computation, I can get a lock in the jungle, car and at 23,000ft. I can often get a position inside a building (one story) and occasionally in a two story, when close to the windows. USB interface, Micro SD card and very user friendly menus.
Cons: Does not provide a constant GPS elevation (just instantaneous) , only barometric altitude
Other Thoughts: First one I had to RMA because it wouldn't pick up any satellites. Finally got a good working after about a month and spending additional money to send it back. People love to rant and rave about Newegg, yes, it is good but paying more money for a broken item isn't the best policy. I understand why, just don't agree with it.

Great GPS's
Pros: These are great GPS's. I bought 3 of these in the last month from Newegg. Newegg's price saved me $300 compared to local stores. They are really quick to boot up and get a signal. They are extremely accurate in position. These have saved us plenty of headaches trying to find our hound dogs out in the woods.
Cons: I received one bad unit, wouldn't get satellite signal after first boot. More then likely it was just a lemon. Newegg has agreed to swap out the unit at no cost.
Other Thoughts: These GPS's don't hold up well against being thrown at trees. My dad found that out :) Screen cracked but unit still worked.

very nice
Pros: great size and functionality does everything I want. Very accurate.
Cons: base maps are very poor, barely usable if at all.
Other Thoughts: Garmin should include city navigator maps with this unit. or topographic maps, in any event the base maps are vary bad, figure you're going to spend another $100 - $200 on some quality maps.

Great GPS Unit
Pros: This is a great GPS for use in the outdoors. It has tons of features, a very sensitive receiver, is waterproof and very rugged. I take it camping and mountain biking all the time. If you load the City Navigator maps, you get turn by turn directions for your car. I loaded the topo maps and they are great for the outdoors. The tracks feature is one of my favorites, as the GPS keeps track of where you've gone and records all sorts of data along with it, with which you can import into Garmin's MotionBased website and even import the tracks into Google Earth for viewing. Great battery life too.
Cons: If you want more than just the basemap, you have to buy any other maps separately, such as the City Navigator and Topo maps. If you want to use it in your car, it takes a little longer to input your destination than an average GPS designed only for driving.
Other Thoughts: If you're into doing things in the great outdoors, this is an awesome GPS. The sheer amount of features makes it worth it. The MotionBased website is really cool to use the tracks with.

Great GPS
Pros: Very sensitive antenna, great accuracy, nice tracking features, ability to create your own base-map.
Cons: Built in maps and road-maps aren't that great.
Other Thoughts: Making custom maps really allows you to unlock the potential of this GPS (and it's free). For a tutorial search for "Creating Custom Topo Maps for Garmin GPS". Bit of a learning curve, but once you figure it out it's great. I've got an extremely comprehensive map of my hunting grounds. Made my own property lines, fields, trails, tote-roads, brooks, beaver dams, bridges, etc.

Works Great
Pros: Large color screen; Water proof; great signal even in remote, high altitude locations and in valleys and canyons. Seems to be pretty accurate and back tracking feature works well.
Cons: No rechargeable batteries, uses AA (I use rechargeables). Have to recalibrate compass every time you change batteries (which is about 6-8 hours), not a big deal since the GPS does a pretty good job of giving your direction. Altimeter uses barometeric pressure for elevation and I don't believe it's very accurate, +-100ft (although I could be wrong). Software will not install if you do not have your hard drive set as 'C', Mine is set as 'E','F','G' (not too big a deal, just a pain if yours isn't set up that way).
Other Thoughts: All higher end GPS that I researched used AA batteries, Barometric pressure and a similar electronic compass. Elevation may be more accurate if you have the topo graphs loaded for your area. Otherwise this product works great.

Fantastic
Pros: Sensitive receiver, accurate, lightweight & compact, does almost everything, rugged
Cons: Requires expensive add-on maps to really shine, smallish-screen
Other Thoughts: This is my second Garmin hand-held GPS. This one gets far better GPS reception than the old. I bought the Garmin street map software, a huge mini-SD card, and the auto mounting kit. Now the device is great for use in the car, on vacation, on-foot in the city, hiking in the woods, and in the kayak.

Great for "offroad" nav
Pros: Intended use for hunting, biking and hiking. I've brought this everywhere! Works great in the woods. I love the tracking feature so I can ref it on Googl-Maps and then mark out my hard copy maps as for hunting spots, trails et al. I've also used it for marking my fishing spots on the lake. I'm looking forward to using it off-roading in my Jeep.
Cons: Street nav is poor and slow. Needs map update/add-on. I'm considering getting the mapsource add-ons. For street nav I just got a c530
Other Thoughts: Great price with the rebate! Everyone else has it for about about four hundred dollars b4 rebate.

Great GPS---My First!
Pros: Great size; Good battery life: Solid construction.
Cons: Included basemap is just that...you'll need to plan on purchasing additional maps so figure that cost into your budget; around $100 per unit.
Other Thoughts: This thing locks on satellites in a hurry. Mine works in my house. This new chipset is great. Buy it!

Nice unit
Pros: It's a nice unit. It did everything I was hoping it would do, very well.
Cons: The on/off switch failed right before the 30 day period ran out. Basemap is pretty crude.
Other Thoughts: Newegg was great with the RMA. Shipped it cross country on Monday and had the replacement the following Tuesday.

Great product, expensive maps
Pros: I purchased this for use on an ATV in heavily wooded, mountainous areas, and was very pleased with its performance. I was actually shocked when it also worked in some indoor locations. The speedometer, altimeter, and location is very accurate. The compass is not quite as precise as a traditional, but still is sufficient. I works much better than cheaper models that my other friends have.
Cons: Garmin really gets you on the maps. A basic road map is preloaded in the unit, but only includes interstates and major roads. It is pretty disappointing. You must then decide what you are going to do with the device and then purchase maps accordingly, which in my opinion are over priced. The locked maps are also a real pain to activate, and on top of that are non transferable. The accessories are also pricey. I guess its still cheaper than building one yourself though.
Other Thoughts: I ended up buying a larger microSD card and City Navigator NT to use in the vehicle, which works well. Also the windshield mount and the Garmin belt pouch work well(not included of course). newegg is always the best

Great Receiver
Pros: The best reception I have ever gotten on a GPS. Go from outside to inside without any problems thanks to the new SIRF chip. I use it most for geocaching and could never be happier. Good battery life, great screen and the expandable MircoSD is awesome. Turns on and is ready to go sometimes instantly.
Cons: The map drawing is just barely slower than my older Garmin GPSMap 60.
Other Thoughts: Tracked my entire camping trip with it and it did an excellent job. Had it inside my backpack the entire time too. The newest firmware allows it to save track information on the SD card, which is really handy.

Garmin GPSMAP60CSx
Pros: Super Sensitive. Redraws of on-screen maps are quicker than my old GPSMAP60Cs model. Expandable Memory card allows most if not all of U.S. to be loaded at once. Great if on a long trip and not having to carry a lap-top along to load more regions.
Cons: Screen is bright in direct sun however I wish the "off angle" viewing were brighter. If viewing out in the open and looking at screen at an angle to the sun, the screen is dificult to see. Much better if it's cloudy out.
Other Thoughts: Not the fault of the unit, but I have issue with Garmin's policy of only allowing Mapsource programs to be unlocked on only 2 gps units. I sold my old 60Cs and still have only 2 units, but I have to purchase a new DVD to load City Navigator on my new one. I just updated from City Select to City Navigator a few months ago. Now I have to buy the same program that I already have to load my map's.
BAD GARMIN!!

GPSMAP 60CSx is EXCELLENT
Pros: I bought my 60CSx from NewEgg Nov 2006 and use it almost everyday for Geocaching. I bought it from NewEgg because they have proven themselves over the years i have dealt with them to be very professional and honest. The 60CSx has a VERY sensitive reciever. also it is Very accurate. I also bought a 2Gb microSD. It works well. I bought 2700 Mah NMh batteries and get 24 hours of use between charges. Note. I just left it on over night so this may not be same as actual use. USB interface works well for Geocaching downloads etc.
Cons: A thermometer function would have been real useful to me!
Dont be fooled... The electronic compass (on any GPS) is not a replacement for the real thing! My "Silva Polaris" provides more reliable "compass" direction functionality (while standing still) than ANY GPS sold.
Other Thoughts: Also, as a side note, I bought my daughter the Garmin Legend and it really impressed me for being as cheap as it was. still a VERY accurate and usable geocaching GPS.. She loves it! I think I will stick with Garmin for my GPS needs.

Very usefull gps
Pros: I have the older model GPSMAP60Cs ( Has altimeter & compass ) Extremely good battery life, Small convenient size, Easy to operate, Display is sharp, Normally finds satellites within a minute or less, Rugged and waterproof.
Cons: Display is excellent in direct sunlight but if Sun is at an angle it becomes difficult to read. Better on cloudy day than if Sun is at an angle. Sometimes looses lock in deep woods. (New 60CSx is more sensitive.)
Other Thoughts: I use this on hiking trips and walks to tell how far I’ve walked, time walked etc. Have mount on my bicycle, dual purpose motorcycle and touring motorcycle. Have also used it in my auto’s on long trips. I find most roads are shown on the “City Select North America” map program. Both highways, local roads and abandoned roads.

Garmin GPS 60CSx
Pros: This GPS has been amazing!! I used it the other day on a hike and it was so cool! I would buy it for sure.
Cons: The only thing that I would changes is that you have to purchase more map software to use it properly.

Great Unit
Pros: Great size and button functionality. Excellent screen resolution for a unit this size. Fantastic reception. I have used side by side with a 60CS and had 5-7 strong satellites with the 60CSx when the 60CS was receiving none. Not a critical issue for water only use, but important if you plan to use in dense woods.
Cons: No significant cons that I can think of. Draw and screen refresh rates in map view are a bit slow compared to a higher end console unit, but still fast compared to similar sized units. I did have to update the unit drivers to deal with some issues the other reviewer mentions. These were all software issues and not hardware issues and after the update my unit has bee nothing but rock solid with hundreds of hours of use.
Other Thoughts: Again any glitches or issues with these units seems to be software related. Easy to update. In my opinion this is a very strong unit for its size and price.

Dead after few weeks
Pros: Great features, greats screen, very comfortable to use, lots of accessories available, extremely snsitive even under thick three coverage. Probably the bst portable GPS for hiking and biking, except...
Cons: It started locking up randomly on third use. After returning home I removed the batteries and put away in a drawer. I wanted to use it the follwoing weekend but it was dead. It seems to star up and work, keys beep and it's recognized by the computer, I can actually load maps to it but the screen on the unit remains blank, I can adjust brightness even, it goes from dark to full bright but there is nothing displayed, no GUI. Unusable.
Other Thoughts: I've email Garmin and it's been three days without reply. I'll try calling them. I owned two Garmin units before and never had any problems.
If it was for the poor quality it'd deserve the Excellen ranking.
