Great but short-lived
Pros: Works great with lots of POI. Some-what accurate.
Cons: I've gone through two of these and they both croaked after about a month. Both of them had the same problem. They work great for about a month then they will just freeze up and never turn back on. I tried resetting them but it was useless. I highly recommend against purchasing this product.

Good bang for the buck
Pros: inexpensive bright screen accurate tracking stylus included but nessary loud windshield mount USB chargeable (I use my IPod 12V to USB charger) Displays MPH and has a warning buzzer you can set for a speed you don't want to exceed
Cons: no traffic data 30-45 second cold start up (not really a con if you ask me) Battery seemed to last <2 hours - not bad, but not great. Hard to get somewhere and back for a weekend trip with out the charger.
Other Thoughts: I love this thing! I look at it as an electronic map - and it does that perfectly - at a low price to boot. I can't believe I paid $2K to get the integrated GPS in my other car and I can't even enter data on that one while driving.
Tracks well and re-routes as quick as an integrated OEM GPS. I am so impressed with this as an older Magellan I had (3 years ago) was soooo slow you'd be past your re-route turn before it'd update - then need to re-route again!
The speaker is plenty loud once you turn the volume up. The default volume level is in the middle or around 50% which is too low to overcome road noise. I turned mine up to about 80% and it was plenty even with the radio on.
In the Baltimore Washington Corridor area of Maryland it picks up GPS signal fine. Hadn't tried it around tall buildings, mountains, or in DC.

JUNK, JUNK and more junk oh and locks up
Pros: for a cheap unit even tho the maps are outdated it seems to do pretty good, runs windows CE so kinda cool there. the unit it works when it is not locking up at random, and while i can deal with it even tho i should not have to, my wife has already said what good is a GPS going to do here if it is locking up and random. if you want cheap and dont car buy this unit
Cons: maps are fomr 2007, there is no support on the website for updates and nor will they be, as I have read pleanty of forums saying that nextar support says there will be up days, that was years ago. still no updates and while i can get the map card and update it my self other companys, will give you free map updates for a year, this unit is just junk compared to others, I am returning it dont bother buying it
Other Thoughts: junk junk junk, locks up at random. i think this is due to a slow arm processor it is only a 266, most other units are 300-400

Nextar does not update their maps
Pros: I do not own this unit. However, I have owned a Nextar X4B for 18 months. It has performed well and I'd like to keep using it. It was a very good deal at the time and has more features than I actually needed (e.g. Bluetooth).
Cons: As noted , I own the X4B but I thought that other potential Nextar buyers should know that Nextar never seems to update their maps. Several e-mails to Nextar were replied to with the same "Dear Valued Nextar Customer" note as another reviewer got, all claiming that they were working on an update. Now they have completely deleted my unit from their Support page and I'm left to assume that there will never be an update for my unit.
Other Thoughts: Decent products out of the box but don't expect any updates. Nextar is clearly missing an opportunity to sell map updates. I'll stick w/ a major/supported brand next time.

Good unit for the most part
Pros: Simple to use. Accurate most of the time (but will always get you in the correct general area when it's wrong), came with a car charger and USB cable for connection to the PC. Bright screen that is easy to read.
Cons: no updates in a VERY long time. Found inaccuracies in it when driving through developments and shopping centers and the P3 seemed to think I was off road. Have checked the nextar site since I got it for updates. I don't think any are ever coming. The P3 isn't even listed on the main search list anymore. Very frustrating knowing that the maps are 2 years out of date. If it can't even find locations in my local area, it doesn't leave me all that confident that it will get me to destinations out of state.
Other Thoughts: I received this as a Christmas present from my parents, a newegg purchase, and for the most part, I am very happy with this unit. If maps aren't updated at all for this, my next one won't be a Nextar. There is no reason to not update the maps on something that relies on them to be useful.

NICE GPS FOR THE MONEY
Pros: This is my first portable GPS unit, my other car has built in GPS. I was suurprised how easy the unit is to operate. I have used it for a few weeks and it has worked perfectly. I even copied the 1GB SD card to a 2GB card and added a MP3s in a Music folder. It plays all of the MP3s files from the MUSIC menu.
Cons: I contacted Nextar about getting updated maps and they do not offer them right now. The map included is from 2007 so you may want to go to a different brand like Garmin or Tom Tom.
Other Thoughts: Here is Nextar's reply to my email about updated maps.

a decent unit
Pros: -Works pretty well -gets you from point a to point b -points of interest is surprisingly good -software interface is good
Cons: - no preloaded canada maps nor map updates. I checked with their support staff and they have no plans of releasing updates - old 2007 map. doesnt know of new roads/routes - takes several mins to get gps signals - among high rise buildings in downtown seattle, it lost signal multiple times and went swithching back & forth between routes
Other Thoughts: if you want a cheap but functional gps with no frills, this is it.

Terrible Product
Pros: None, like title said this is a terrible product.
Cons: Bought as Christmas present, unit had no sound.
RMA'd to newegg for new unit.
Other Thoughts: Quick turn around by newegg, but the unit had no sound and the replacement unit died two days later.
DO NOT BUY.

Pretty good unit
Pros: Inexpensive but works pretty good. Smaller screen size fits on my instrument cluster so it's not very visible to others, yet is easily viewable. Paid for itself my first trip back East with a rental car (I'm directionally challenged big time).
Only a few roads haven't shown up and the POI are pretty good too.
MP3 player works ok.
Cons: Touchscreen is too sensitive in my jacket iPod holder when I'm snowboarding using the MP3 function.
No easy upgrade path.

Pretty good GPS for the $'s
Pros: For the price, this is a decent unit. It is very handy and works well. It is my first one so I don't have anything to compare it against but I am glad I got it.
Cons: It seems there is no way to update the maps which are 2+ years old, however, for me it has all the streets I need.

Works great so far.
Pros: Turn-by-turn voice instructions Very intuitive interface GREAT price
Cons: Voice instructions can be a bit difficult to understand at times, but that could just be my ears I suppose.
Other Thoughts: This was a GREAT buy in my opinion. I thought for certain when I made this purchase that I would be returning it immediately and purchasing a more expensive model, but I took the chance and was pleasantly surprised. It has functioned flawlessly since day 1. It's very easy to use, and has all of the features you'd expect on a much more expensive model. Finding businesses, etc., may be a little sketchy with it, i.e. it didn't have "Target" listed anywhere in Jacksonville, FL, and there's one just down the street. I'm going to visit the Nextar site later to see if they still offer map updates for this model.

Get Where You Are Going!
Pros: Easy to operate out of the box. I am still discovering some of the more advanced features. Has got me to all the places I wanted to go. Did not recognize some newly constructed roads in my area, but was able to "adjust" within seconds and keep me on my way. Unbeatable for the price. Never had a problem with aquiring a signal except in downtown Atlanta, and that was for less than a minute. It still got me to my destination in the city. Programming addresses is really simple. As one reviewer said, dont overcomplicate your address input. The GPs will generally recognize street names without putting in south, blvd etc.
Cons: Screen is a little washed out in bright sunlight. I have not really looked at the dispay options to see if there is any adjustment for this. I have never been unable to see the screen. Obviously this model does not have the features of more expensive models. Comparing it to my coworkers $500+ unit, the one thing I notice is limited speech. Names of streets will not be announced unless they are numerical. You have to read street names on the screen.
Other Thoughts: For a basic GPS, this is great. If you like the best new electronics with the greatest features, this is probably not the unit for you. If you want a basic GPS that is reliable, it is a good choice.

nextar P3 gps
Pros: cheap, text-to-speech,
Cons: slight lag at times
Other Thoughts: i got my gps three days ago, and so far i'm pleased with the way it performs. There's no bargain that you'll find that's better than this one, with capabilities (like text-to-speech) that you'll only find in $100+ gps systems, in this one for only $80. The gps is really easy to use, and works right out of the box .. all you have to do is insert the sd card and you're ready to go! Although i've been overally pleased with it, one problem i do have with this gps is that there are times when it'll tell me i'm off the road when driving on a well known roadway .. .this problem only seems small though, as the gps will quickly locate the road that i'm on and get me to my exact location!

Great for the Price
Pros: Unit has a lot of features for the price, and makes it pretty easy to enter locations. Fast recalculations when you don't follow the path that the unit has laid out for you. Attractive and easy to use user interface. Doesn't mean much to me as I'd rather use my car's stereo, but it is functions as an mp3 player. Comes with window and dash mount.
Cons: A little slow at locating a signal on initial startup. My power cord for my car is a little touchy -- it doesn't always make good contact inside the unit, so I have to occasionally move the power cord when I notice it's not getting power (the blue light goes out in the corner). I'm considering returning it for another unit. I wish it came with one of those bags for mounting on the dash. The window mount is pretty easy to use, but it came loose on me a couple of times until I moistened the suction cup before mounting. Now I just keep waiting for it to come loose again.
Other Thoughts: I haven't tried updating the unit yet, but it does take an SD card so it should be pretty easy to update.
Again, for the price, this thing is awesome. I'm pretty impressed with the array of features it supports for this price too. I would have given it 5 eggs if it weren't for the problem I'm having with the power cord not making good contact all the time.

Nextar GPS is terrible
Pros: Cheap GPS with lots of promised features. I got mine for about $100 a little over a year ago when these GPS were running for much higher.
Cons: Within 1 month of using it, my Nextar GPS would not charge up anymore when I plug it into the car charger. This practically makes it useless.
On top of that, the GPS itself often would take 3-5 min to get satellite signal even when I'm outdoor, which is very annoying.
All other features like MP3, SDcard, etc are irrelevant when the GPS doesn't work well because you'll end up not using it anyway.

A Steal for the price
Pros: This little bugger is impressive. No a big lashy name brand but still the same features and maybe more. Quick re-routing, good POI's, found new addresses build within the last 2 yrs and works a heck of alot better than my Magellan
Cons: Small screen but it is what it is

Definitely there are better deals
Pros: Relatively easy to navigate and use the device. Unfortunately this is the only good thing I could mention about this GPS.
Cons: 1. The quality of the vintage is like prison-made. Power cable is very short to comfortably fit the distance from the wind shield to the power plug and though it must have some elasticity, you'll get an open wire (NO POWER) after a while. Mine broke after 3 months. 2. The data loaded on the card is at least 5 years old and some relatively roads are not appearing properly. Updates (which I doubt are ACTUAL updates) are not free of course. 3. Simply awful customer service. Practically useless and the only thing they are trying to do is to find a way to make you pay for something else.
Other Thoughts: Would not buy or recommend even to my enemy this product

Cheap GPS
Pros: The price is unbeatable on this GPS, $69 free shipping, and it plays MP3's as well. Comes with a 1GB SD card with Maps of North America. When it finally connected to the satellites it pinpointed my location only a few house numbers wrong, that is pretty good, considering TomTom and Magellan both pinpoint me in a totally different city.
Cons: The Stylus pen was missing when I got it, and Nexstar customer service is difficult to deal with, they denied to send me a new one when I asked via email, I had to call them and sit in the phone que for hours. Then the representative started arguing that I was probably not looking good enough, but after a little bickering they promised to send me one. Map updates not available, the GPS was manufactured in oct 2007 so it is fairly up to date, but there is no information as to how to update your maps, I found out they are using NavTeq maps, unfortunately when you go to navteq.com they tell you to contact your dealer for map updates, so I don't know. too much work. Seem to have a hard time connecting to the satellites, even when you have clear sky. Does not come with wall charger.
Other Thoughts: Get a bigger SD card when you order this, you can transfer the maps to another bigger card and also have room for Music, the maps take up almost the entire 1gb card included. I suggest 4GB Also get a wall charger or it will charge forever, your phone charger might work for you, mine did, as long as it has a mini usb plug you should be golden, if not you can purchase these chargers for less than $5 online, uses the same kind as Sansa Clip.

INCREDIBLE
Pros: This is incredible GPS for the money. MP3 works great. The speaker is really loud. The suction cup is very strong. I didnt even use adhesive, I just sucked it onto the windshield and it's holding very good. Windows Vista found the device right away. No driver needed.
Cons: Windows XP needs a driver, but it's not that hard. When I first started the GPS it said that the SD Card didn't have the maps on it or was corrupted. I just restarted GPS, took out the card and reinserted it and never had a problem since.
Other Thoughts: I can't think of a better gift for others or for yourself.

Understand it first
Pros: Once you understand it, it is awesome. After only 1 day im in love and wanna use gps no matter where i go.... even places i already know how to get too
Cons: It was very difficult to imput addresses at first. I tried typing the address to a store in the mall. i typed in the whole address listed on the companies website. When we started driving it tried to take me to baltimore. the first location we tried we already knew how to get to so we could tell when the gps was funky.
after playing around with it for a good while longer i finally figured out it wants to do all the "hard work" itself and it wont have it any other way... no lie...
when you add a location i found this is the only way to add a location...
1. choose the state. 2. choose the city (dont do street address first it will act funky) 3. type in street name only (do not include rd blvd st etc) 4. once you type in the road name and hit ok it would automatically show the full road name like 1st st or thomas rd and it will ask you to type in a valid address number. type the address number and hit ok.
if you try to do it any other way you will wind up in baltimore too!
Other Thoughts: I definately recommend this product. Just make sure you understand how it works or it will frustrate you.

Great
Pros: Cheap, easy to use, bright display, loud, quick charging
Cons: The only issue I've had is getting the mp3 playing feature to work. Looks like it only works with Media Player 9, because I can't get MP10 or MP11 to sync....
Other Thoughts: bought it after getting lost in downtown Frederick, MD. Won't let that happen again.

I Like It
Pros: I have never had a GPS system for my car and liked the price of this unit. Worked great right out of the box. I like the fact that it recalculates if you miss the turn, had to use that several times around construction areas.
Cons: I believe that some one that has a good understanding of a GPS system would get the unit set up in a short period of time. I have been just checking it out for the last few weeks. I made a few assumptions and the book was not clear. I guess they should send two books, one for the setup up dummy that does not understand anything and they guy that has had one for years.
Other Thoughts: I have been trying to find out what i will go thru to update the maps. Do you have to buy a new memory card or can you down load them thru the internet?

Horrible
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Cheap; not readable in bright sunlight; severely limited POI (points of interest); suction failed after about a month; difficult to search, etc.
You get what you pay for. Unfortunately I bought this one for my sister and it was BAD. I lost money on that transactions but then bought her a Garmin Nuvi similar to mine.
Don't be duped by the low price. Stay away from this piece of dung.

Very Good Value
Pros: I have used several different GPS systems. Just about the only thing different between them is the price. This system is much less expensive than the rest of them. All GPS systems have trouble with the signal being blocked. I have owned mine since december and I have not dropped the signal even once.
Cons: It is difficult to find new maps. Like computers, maps get outdated quickly so if you are looking for a house that was built very recently, it might not know where it is. The maps are available. This GPS uses Navteq maps - the same maps that Garmin uses.
Other Thoughts: This gps uses windows CE as the OS. If you are unfamiliar with windows CE, you are likely to struggle with connecting it to your computer. There are no instructions with the unit and the online instructions are vague. However if you own a pocket PC or another device that uses windows CE, you will figure it out quickly.

Eh..Great while it worked
Pros: Clear crisp voice and its a female unlike most gps systems,a little more relaxing to listen to. Has all the new highways where as the $3%% mio's do not, awesome. Satellite signal is great, had some really bad rain showers and was out picking up dinner and never once dropped signal, bravo. Options are much easier to understand and navigate.
Cons: Well when I received the device and turned it on it lit up very bright (as if to the brightest lighting settings) making the options just barely visible to be seen, after a few minutes it would clear up and reach its normal lighting. After barely a week of use it got to where it doesnt clear up,it stays that way which is why I returned it. Im sure its just a defective product and newegg will graciously send me another like always. Did not come with a stylus pen. I could not seem to get it to recognize my pc to add mp3's over to it,kinda upset me for I downloaded microsoft active syn which did not help it,Im sure it will take some work to get some mp3's on there.
Other Thoughts: Do not get the cons mixed with the pros, this is possibly the best vehicle navigation Ive seen I just ended up with a dud, happens to everyone eventually which is exactly why I shop with newegg. They process their claims and orders VERY fast. Luv the egg!

So far, so good!
Pros: Price! I've had no problems so far.
Cons: USA maps only. Customer support from Nextar.
Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a low priced, USA only GPS that seems to work well, this is it. Recommended it to a friend and he is pleased with it as well. Found a motorcycle mount for it at mountguys.com for $40.00.

Not worthy
Pros: Do not waste your time and your money this Item is not worthy. There was no signal when It was cloudy. Imagine your self on the road from State to another and the weather change... What will happened to you!!!Either you threw this Item away and keep driving Or wait until it will be sunny again.
Cons: Not working when its cloudy, old map and you will not be able to update. No driver comes with the Item
Other Thoughts: add another $50 and buy something better Like Tom Tom

Beware, DO NOT BUY.
Pros: None, the item never worked. I did not come with a SD card that was loaded with the maps.
Cons: Nextar has NO customer support, and their products do not work.
Other Thoughts: I ordered this item and when it arrived (late, but not from newegg) it would not recognize the SD maps. I call tech support for Nextar and they told me that the SD card was probably blank and customer service would send a new one when I called them. I called customer service, left a message as instructed, and never heard back from them. I promptly sent the item back.

Pros: Very simple to set up. Locked on to current position while in house. Map seems to be up to date with all 20 favorites I installed. Full charge in about 2 hours using USB cable hooked up to computer. Easy to figure out without the manual. Bright screen, used finger for inputs on touch screen.
Cons: None yet.

bad gps
Pros: Price for a gps
Cons: Out of the box, the unit could not read memory card, or card was defective. RMA was issued but it seems to be taking a long time. computer couldn't see it either, and it wouldn't keep time either, going back to noon all the time. Man am i in trouble with this unit. Hook line an sinker with me baby. This choice that i made is tearing me apart! And i can't reverse it!!!
Other Thoughts: you get what you pay for i guess. stay away from this baby.

Defective
Pros: Initial shipping was quick. Seems like it would be a solid GPS for the price. The speaker was powerful.
Cons: Out of the box, the unit could not read memory card, or card was defective. RMA was issued but it seems to be taking a long time.
Other Thoughts: I hope the replacement works better.

Great value
Pros: Great value. Unit looks nice, display is nice, and it comes with all accessories needed for mount/use in an auto. I am rarely motivated to write a review, but this is one of those times. Easy to use. Solid little unit. Touchscreen and turn-by-turn work OK. This is the perfect unit for me who works out of a car and had no GPS before.
Cons: Probably lacks features of more expensive units which I would never use anyway. The "up-to-dateness" of the US Continental map provided has been questioned by other users, but I've had no problem finding where I'm going between metropolitan areas in OH.
Other Thoughts: This could be said of any GPS nav in general, but this unit has already paid for itself its 1st night by keeping my eyes on the road instead of on a googlemap print-out, and avoiding a collision with a deer. Of course, New Egg rocks: 3-day delivery, $20 rebate. Why haven't you bought this yet?

Great value.
Pros: Signal acquisition is fast. Very easy to use and straightforward. Maps are quite up-to-date. My street did not exist 16 months ago, but it is included. It is very easy to read the screen even on a bright and sunny day. The best part... miss your turn? This thing will re-route you in seconds!
Cons: When driving in high-density downtown areas, it sometimes drops and is unable to reacquire a GPS signal (I'm assuming this may be common among all GPS systems when the sky is blocked by skyscrapers in every direction), leaving you clueless as to where to turn. Also, there are two problems that are likely Boston-specific. 1.) Boston is a conglomerate of what used to be many distinct towns, therefore there are many streets that share the same name, yet are miles away from each other (i.e. Washington Street). If you are not sure which neighborhood you are going to, you could easily end up 45 minutes away from your actual destination. 2.) Many of the recent highway improvements are not updated and you'll find yourself going 10 minutes out of your way to enter a highway, even though there was a highway entrance added three blocks away two years ago. This is going to a problem with practically any GPS, so perhaps I'm being unfair to this particular model.
Other Thoughts: For the price (under $100 with rebate), this GPS is hard to beat. My only real complaints likely pertain to most GPS systems, even those costing several times this price.

Nice GPS but........
Pros: Easy unit to use. Screen is clear and bright during the daytime. Lots of nice functions and the accessories are ok. Connects to Satellite very quickly.
Cons: The biggest problem with this unit is the mapping program is very out of date, has to be at least 3 to 4 years old, and no updates as of yet.
Other Thoughts: Update the mapping software and this would be a great little GPS

Great for the Price
Pros: This is a great little unit for the money. GPS works well and the unit is easy to use. Nice screen and options of map display. It linked to my computer nicely but there are no updates for unit at this time.
Cons: While driving, the unit shows an intersection a short distance away when in actual you are in the intersection. I do not think that this is a major issue and I can definately live with it. It did give me wrong directions to my local Walmart, it sent me a extra mile or so away to a private residence.
Other Thoughts: I live in rural area of Washington State, so I hope it works better larger cities.

Product Rocks
Pros: Awesome product. I got it the day I was heading to Florida for a trip...worked flawlessly right out of the box. I was able to program it without reading the manual. Very easy to use and very accurate. The voice prompts are great. I especially like it when you get off course to get gas, etc. The system tells you to make a U turn immediately...too funny! It does come with a car charger
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Way worth the money. Easy to read color touch screen works great.

Great for the price
Pros: For the money this GPS has some nice features. MP3, lots of setting options, 3D views, routing options, etc. Instant re-routing, Good Turn by Turn voice w\street names. Bright, clear and easy to read screen features. No problems quickly acquiring Sat. signals. nice accessories included.
Cons: Maps are not as up to date as I would like. I live in Miami FL in a house that is over 30yrs old and it will not let me enter my address. Luckily, with the other entry options, ie. cross streets, favorites, interest points, etc. it is still usable.
Other Thoughts: Can't beat it for the price!

Worked out of the box
Pros: Worked out of the box. Screen is bright and easy to see in the daylight. Maps are up-to-date and detailed. Many points of interest preloaded into software. Accuracy seems good.
Cons: Only one computer voice to choose from.

Awesome for the price!
Pros: Screen is so vibrant, was worried about the 3.5" screen being hard to see, but works perfectly. Use everday at work, routing from place to place. No place it can't find yet!!!
Cons: No AC Adapter, but as listed before go to meritline.
Other Thoughts: Would highly recommend to someone who is not so tech savy and new to gps, or to someone who just needs a cheap gps to get from a to b, without all the extras.
