A good, basic recorder
Pros: I'm a neuroscience major, and often times the lectures are quite dense. I bought this voice recorder, to record my lecture needs. I have it set on HQ(High Quality), Voice filter, and Low-cut filter(minimizes air conditioning noise). The device captures voice quite clearly(assuming your classmates are silent, and you're sitting in the front row). The earphone jack is a great feature, so you can listen to your lectures while walking around campus- and just look like you're listening to an mp3 player.
Cons: For a device costing $69.99, and living in the year 2008- this thing SHOULD have a battery recharger. I use this unit frequently, and it consumes 1 AAA battery per 2-3 days(huge waste). It's a good unit if you're going to be doing light-moderate voice recording, but if using it all the time will cost you big bucks in batteries.
Other Thoughts: The device is well-built, fairly easy to use. No backlight, which is a bummer- but makes sense since it goes through batteries so fast. A backlight would make this thing last an hour tops. I'm a bit sad to now know that I will need to have a steady supply of AAA batteries in my backpack, but oh well-it works well, I guess???

Olympus WS-110
Pros: I love this. The immediate Windows format makes it a breeze to edit and transfer. The folders are a snap to switch and the menu is intuitive. Using the Roxio for sound editing , converting to stereo greatly enhances the realistic quality. The USB plug and play is a genius stroke. I'm a writer and own three of these. Also, if you live in a *one-party state (used ethically) it's highly concealable.
*A one-party state allows recording conversations between two parties if one party is aware the conversation is being recorded. This includes the party recording the conversation. (Yes it's legal. Look it up. You'll probably win a few bar bets. )
Cons: 500 MB would be nice but really not necessary for voice recording.

Olympus WS-110 Digital Voice Recorder
Pros: Excellent recorder. Reads data immediately and you can burn a CD immediately with Windows Media player. Plug into USB port and away you go. Recording in three different modes in five different folders including indexing options. Small size is nice with good quality sound. Several nice features that I like such as noise reduction and voice activation modes.
Cons: Would like to see more memory as I would use it for a portable music device as you can load your Window Media music files on it. Still, it has 250 MB and you can save several songs on it. Great memory for voice recording which is it's main purpose. A nice little carrying case that you can hook on your belt would be nice. I'm using a cell phone case which works very well.
Other Thoughts: Buy it, you will like it.

Perfectly fine functional little device
Pros: Small, sturdy, reliable, consistent, smooth transfer via USB into WAV files on my Macbook Pro.
Cons: Eats batteries, not screamingly intuitive operation, adequate recording quality for the spoken word.
Other Thoughts: Not recommended for music recording (recitals, etc) - in other words, not recommended for more than it's supposed to be good for (quelle surprise).
