Play along with Aerosmith – as Aerosmith – through their musical career in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith for the PlayStation 2. Follow the band from its first show at Mendon Nipmuc Regional High School in 1970 to the 2001 Super Bowl XXXV halftime show and their 2001 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band members worked closely with the developers – including participating in motion capture – to create a truly accurate Aerosmith experience.
Over 40 songs – many of them master tracks – make up the set list. While the majority of the tunes are by Aerosmith – including four remastered specifically for the game – the rest were chosen by the band members from acts that have played with Aerosmith, or whom inspired the band.
Gameplay is based on Guitar Hero III with four levels of difficulty and some improvements to the mechanics. Play competitively or cooperatively with another player or go solo with Quickplay and Career mode. The latter features six segments based on periods in the band's history along with a Boss Battle against Joe Perry. Extra content, including videos, is presented throughout the game or can be unlocked along with other band members and guests, such as Run DMC and Lenny Kravitz.
