NRG Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month	12/31/2009 11:32:23 PM Wait for Completed Version Pros: Graphics are great. 1080p output is nice on hd tvs. Cons: No tuning options. A lot less playtime than other GT series. No rally races. Only a few 2player mode races. Several cars are missing that were in the other games. Other Thoughts: I was shocked when I realized that I couldn't add a turbo or any other upgrade to any of the cars I purchased in the game. The best I could do was use some "performance points", which were limited in each race. After really being upset with my purchase, I decided to read up on the game a bit. It seems that this is just a 'pre-release' version of the real game that is due out later this year. Unless you're a collector, I would wait until then, because this game isn't all that fun. It's mostly just for getting acquainted with the interface and graphics. The gameplay is very lacking. I only played this for a day before becoming bored (unlike the other games). Pros: I can't believe it's a prologue...online and offline play is great. Cons: I wish the price on the steering wheel was cheaper...really would help in getting further in the game. Nick Tech Level: average Ownership: more than 1 year	5/25/2009 10:36:57 AM Good game Pros: 50 cars and 10 tracks(that's including the reverse option on each of the 5 tracks during arcade mode). The graphics are stunning in HD, has a good balance of difficulty throughout the game, tuning(unlocked after you beat A class), the other CPU players can make mistakes and GTTV(watch videos). Cons: The penalty system is a little bit broken and you can't get some videos that are available for free in GTTV. I can't "buy" a video that is free and in the pricetag area it says free but some of the other free videos I have been able to download say free but in the pricetag area it says $0.00; the videos that say free in the pricetag area either do not show up in the PSN cart or displays an error. Other Thoughts: The game is well worth it if you already got a PS3 but if you want to play the whole GT5 game will have to wait for it's release as this game I'm reviewing is a "Demo"(hence the word Prologue is in the title of the game). Polyphony Digital, developer of the game, made this game for a reason as they wanted to learn how to develop for the new playstation platform. They also did do this with the PS2 with GT3 when they were migrating to the PS2 platform from the PS1. If you want to play the full game, you are just going have to wait. Looks good, the in car cam is totally sweet. I will only play from the in car cam now. Cons: Overpriced, very short, I beat the entire "demo" the first day. No customizing, short races, NO DAMAGE! C'mon GT, Forza and Grid can do it, so can you...its not that I want it for crashing, but if this is a simulater when I accidentally lose control and smash into another car or wall, I expect to see the effects of my mistake. I don't want to be able to bump into a car and keep going without consequences. I want to see things like reduced HP, tranny problems, flat tires, cosmetic damage, etc...it all adds to the realism. I hope the full version of the game will address these issues but I've already convinced myself otherwise. Other Thoughts: Despite my rating of 3 stars and the cons I mentioned, this is still a good game. Its pricey for what ya get but I can't pass up driving sims. Did you find this review helpful? People want to criticize this game as a complete version of Gran Turismo. This is nothing more than a work in progress or a demo to GT5. And for the amount of content it has it's amazing. The level of detail in the cars alone is fantastic. They differences in textures, i.e. plastic, glass, paint, chrome, etc are unbelievable. The downloadable content is a big bonus for a Prologue. I can't recall a "Demo" of any game having downloadable content ever. Cons: None. I don't think it's fair to put many cons for this game, especially "Number of cars or tracks," when this is not a full game. Duh people, it's not going to have every car in the world. Just wait for the full version. Other Thoughts: I own every version of GT that's been released. I was playing this game when GT1 was only in it's demo stages. They've come a long way!! If you want to compare this "prologue" to other games go ahead, but you're comparing apples to oranges. Also the online community is just great. I had very competitive racing experience online that is so addicting. If you are a racing fan, this get this game. Reason I got PS3 is just because of this game. Cons: Limited number of cars. I wish they had porsche and more high end cars that are my dream car. Also they have to update with more tracks. I love the GT series but am a little disappointed in this game when i bought it i did no research on the game and now jut found out its not even the whole game. (fail ) The way the car handles is awesome (BUT YOU NEED TO BUY ONE OF THE LOGITECH STEERING WHEELS) once i did that i fell in love with the game the music is not bad either. Oh and the view form inside the car is awesome and love it when you shift he shifts to really cool. Sound quality is very good. If you want real time simulation, get ps3 and get this. As someone mentioned before, i played forza also, and it was pretty good too on xbox 360. Either way you cant go wrong Cons: The whole penalty thing is getting me very mad. It is very unfair sometimes and unrealistic. The PS3 controller knobs are so weak, and barely give any feedback. I have owned a Xbox 360 for awhile and got a PS3 for MGS4, but I got this until it comes out. This game is no Forza. If you like driving sims, get a 360 and try out Forza Motorsport 2. Other Thoughts: Also this isn't even the whole game, its a "Prologue". I can't believe I payed money for this. The online races can be very good as long as the players pretend they are driving a real vehicles. Once I had the online connection NAT TYPE: 2 setup with my router, everything works very good. A game seat and wheel are a must! Cons: The online play can become bizarre. The secret is: DO NOT USE THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU AS A BRAKE!!!! I have seen players actually slow down just to slam the car coming from behind....strange. Other Thoughts: I can't wait for the game to take shape. Sony is probably developing the final game as they monitor the online game play. Very intuitive on their part. The game needs a lobby where teams can be developed and plan full scale races. The cars are soo lifelike its mind blowing. The handling feels very good. Cons: Limited selection of cars. I was little annoyed there were two Imprezas and no Legacies. Some of the courses you need to run to near perfection just to advance like the second cup Integra race. I am kind of stuck there and have not played the game since. Cons: Ive been told its a GT tradition, but no damage is a deal-breaker for me, all the talk of realistic physics fizzles when you bounce off a wall take out the car ahead of you, and cruise on to victory without a hitch. Large price tag for a demo eh? Tuning is 30 races ahead of you when you start. The cars and 'tuned cars' thing is disapointing as well Other Thoughts: Using forza2 as comparison, from my limited play, this only Wins in looks. Personally, I will have to do a lot of research into what is going to be expanded in the full game before purchasing that, especially after dropping 30$ to download this. I have a 42" flat-panel LCD HDTV and this game runs at 1080p and looks really good. (TIP FOR LAST REVIEWER JASON...I had problems with the time on the game too. Check your PS3 time and make sure the daylight savings time is correct. I turned mine on and then no more problems.) Cons: Alot of cars missing...I know this is a demo, but would have liked to see better selection to try. Not much moding on cars. Ultra realistic driving experience. The STi accelerates, handles, sounds and FEELS just like my real world version. Cons: You have to play the game forever before it will unlock any tuning options. I really hope they have the tuner shops again in the full version. Many of the demo races force you to buy a certain car...annoying. It leaves more to be desired, but it really is just an extended demo, right. The graphics are pretty nice and I can only see things getting better for the final release. Cons: When getting close to other cars to pass and making quick movements, there is some screen tearing that happens. This is consistant and cannot stand it. Screen tearing is a big reason I have not purchased some games that have good ratings. There are also very limited customizations and you can only modify your car AFTER you have completed all the events. The games keeps telling me the time and dates are wrong (although it's right on my PS3), but I can't find a place to change it within the game (should sync to the console, right?). Other Thoughts: I'm having fun with the game, however, I'm not sure I'll want to spend another $60 for the full games when I've never finished any of the GT games AND is just spent $40 on this demo. Realistically, the price for GT5P should be $20 - $30 ($30 is pushing it). A racing wheel and pedals would probably be more fun as the touch sensitive buttons on the PS controllers have never been worth anything. Did you find this review helpful? Graphics, the soundtrack, gameplay and overall multiplayer fills the void and provides adequate sustenance to hold one over. It is only $39.99 which isn't something to complain about in the world of $59.99 games. Cons: Grand Tourismo 5 will have to offer and be that much more of a game than what Prologue is in order for gamers to want to spend another $59.99 a year from now. Other Thoughts: Everyone is crossing their fingers that hopefully Sony will allow some type of credit towards the final release as most enthusiasts will already have invested the $39.99 prior to spending another $59.99. It's Gran Turismo after all with some new cars & tracks, along with the old favorites. Online Gran Turismo Racing!! Cons: It's only a taste of the full GT. Online racing needs work. Only six tracks (reversible so a total of 12). AI could use some work. Some advanced races appear to be un-winnable (could be just me ;-). Other Thoughts: As long as you understand it's only a glorified demo of GT you won't be disappointed. I would recommend it to GT fans jonesing for GT5. Actually it's a relistic driving simulation rather than a racing game. It's value is far more than good graphic. If you enjoy driving your favoutite car in those famous tracks surrounded by amazing scenery and melodious music, GT5P is what you are looking for. Cons: Not all people understand or love Gran Turism series. If you just want to enjoy the feeling of speed with easy controlling， other racing game like Ridge Racer is more suitable for you. Graphics aren't nearly as impressive as the videos we've seen for the last year. Really, you can't mod your car? c'mon! Other Thoughts: My Favorite part of this franchise has been the extreme detail they've put into it. This includes the ability to modify your car with various parts and tunings. That's what makes this game so unique and timeless. I was really disappointed when I saw the "quick tune" options. Oracle Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month	4/23/2008 1:10:08 PM A small piece of the best racing game ever Pros: The best looking and best driving racing simulator ever. The graphics are stonkingly good! Runs at 1080p natively, quite an accomplishment. The physics and driveability of the cars is improved over GT4. Online multiplayer. Cons: Still needs some polishing. Multiplayer online needs a lot of work. Not a full Gran Turismo game. Other Thoughts: All the complaints of this game are out of line frankly. Everyone comes in knowing that its not a full game and that its not an entirely finished game. The fact is yes you dont have a full game here, but you have a piece of the best racing simulator ever made right here. A piece of the best is better than a whole game that is an arcadey, unrealistic, piece of dross like Project Gotham XYZ. I imagine also some people complaining about this dont have a wheel. You must get one to enjoy this game even 75%. Its not a problem with the Ps3, any USB force feedback Logitech wheel will work with no problem. Get one off egay for $25. I gave this 4 stars, the multiplayer needs more work than I expected, and overall the game needs some optimizing and polish. But I fully expect to give this game 5 stars when the full version is released. This game is real driving, its not arcadey, its a realistic driving simulator. The realism of the cars and the characteristic of it so for better than i expected to be. Better than gt3. polyphony did alot of homework. they also have GT-TV which is cool. Cons: Few cars and tracks. but it's demo. Other Thoughts: this one of the best racing game out there. After playing PC games and some PS3 games I am amazed that consoles and GT5 Prologue is able to get away with these graphics. Online multiplayer: NO OPTIONS. You can't play with your friends list. You get shoved into random matches. You cannot customize your car; until you finish the game and then still limited. HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT. Few tracks. Few cars. But we knew that. You can only customize one controller so your friends who prefers a different scheme is out of luck. Other Thoughts: Do not waste your money. tj Tech Level: somewhat high Ownership: 1 day to 1 week	4/18/2008 9:43:12 PM its fun Pros: ok its a grand turismo game so expect it to be good right off the bat. the graphics and lighting are very well done, but id highly recommend a hdtv for this game im using a crt and it surely doesnt look the best it can. the in car view is a nice touch as well as the increase in racers on the track. i only wished they included upgrades in the prologue cuz racing with an all stock car is just boring. but overall its a good game but id would have rather rented it and wait for the full instead of spending $40 on it Cons: it really needs an hdtv to shine, incomplete obviously, AI still the same as the old ones, quite abit of loading too which can be a letdown Did you find this review helpful? Racing is pretty much the same as always so the gameplay is absolutely great. Cons: Not the complete version. GT5 is due out in about a year. Only 70 Cars to buy, down from over 700 in GT4. Also there is no way to improve your cars. Whatever you buy is what you get, no upgrades. Other Thoughts: For $40 is worth it. Great racing game and enough cars to make it worthwhile. Nick Tech Level: high Ownership: less than 1 day	4/18/2008 6:20:50 AM Prologue Pros: Excellent physics (except no damage, and bizarro drafting...), awesome graphics, lots of cars. Cons: 6 tracks isn't much, though the selection is nicely varied. Drafting is grossly over exaggerated... Online play is kind of weak at the moment, no ability (that I can see) to choose an opponent (or group of opponents) you just have to take the bozos they throw at you - hope they improve this with an update. GT TV download can't be done in background and it was really slow - also, no content on GT TV yet. Other Thoughts: Bought this last night on-line, blundered through, clearing the first 14 of 30 races in a couple of hours. The "standard" physics model gently keeps you from losing it most of the time, it isn't hard to place 1st in most races, 3rd in any so far. Pay attention to the event requirements before you purchase your cars, some races require you to run a certain car. By the way, NewEgg, you've got tons of screen shots of vintage cars on dirt tracks - that certainly isn't available in the gameplay - might want to revise your screenshot lineup. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful. They REALLY nailed the car sounds this time. IT LIVES UP TO THE HYPE, BEST GAME EVER.... Cons: ....until you realise you just paid 40 dollars for what should have been at most a $19.99 dl off of Sony Station. Seriously, $40 for what is for all intents and purposes a demo of a game that isn't going to be released for another year at [i]least[/i]. I might be more enthusiastic if PF and Sony promised that if you purchase Prologue you get $xxx money off the full purchase when it comes out, but no. You are still going to be paying 60 dollars for Gran Turismo V when it comes out. Other Cons: No online match making (!!!!) as of yet; you have to beat all events before you can access the (extremely) limited tuning mode; 16 player multiplayer sees some HUGE slowdowns with that many cars on the screen; lag can be an issue at times Other Thoughts: If you don't think you can't LIVE without Prologue, purchase this, but if you aren't craving it every waking moment, pass it up and just download some video's in HD, it's cheaper Did you find this review helpful?
