Not For the Tech Savvy
Pros: Works as described. Easy to setup
Cons: Macro support (Activities) may be good for those who are unable to work their Video Sound system but are lame for anyone who want to be inventive. Range not that good
Other Thoughts: If you are a techy I would pass on this product and look for something else. Very big disappointment.

Much impressed
Pros: Works on anything short of Bluetooth devices (and possibly some of those even with an adapter). The setup software has a robust list of devices, but even obscure devices can be controlled using the IR learning feature. Button macros are easy to set up to handle multiple tasks with one click. The Media option lets you load up graphics to assign to favorite channels, ie, instead of having to remember channel numbers, you can just click buttons that have the channel logos on them. IR Blaster setup allows you to hide devices behind cabinet doors - or even in another room if you like - which helps for keeping a wall-mounted TV setup nice and neat looking. There's also a handy Help feature, which can assist if a macro mis-fires and sets your equipment out of synch -- such as hitting the power button turns the TV Off but puts the receiver On. Help takes you step-by-step through your device list to make sure everything is on & set to the correct input for you.
Cons: A previous reviewer mentioned this, and I have to agree: the charging station is way too fussy about how the remote is docked. The slightest nudge can disconnect it, and it is sometimes difficult to tell if it is charging properly. Battery lasts for days though, so missing a nightly charge is not such a big deal. Largest detractor is the price. I was lucky enough to find a decent refurbished model for a substantial discount - without that I never would have considered purchasing this remote.
Other Thoughts: If I can find another deal, I plan on getting another of these for the in-laws as a gift for them. Well, honestly, it'll be a gift for myself, ifyaknowhutimean.

Terrible quality
Pros: Is great when works (was able to program CC on CC off function on my DVR to work with one button press). Worked great for my partner who is technology illiterate and could not handle a setup of a modern entertainment system. Charger is a +. Survived past 2 year mark.
Cons: Must be positioned into the charging cradle with an aide of a high-precision measuring instruments, otherwise charging contacts won't align. Tech support is very limited. Hardware drivers are wonky - the remote is not always recognized by the PC or MAC. Stopped working after 2 years of ownership (349USD were paid originally). After the last charge the LCD stopped showing any graphics yet would be backlit. Buttons work but only the hard ones all the time and the soft in the activity selection mode which I now need to operate blindly. Did not respond to the standard and advanced troubleshooting. There is an anecdotal evidence that the problem is widespread (just search google).
Other Thoughts: Waiting on the response from tech support for 4 business days now.

Great Remote
Pros: This is such a great remote I don't know where to begin. I mean, any universal remote can control all your devices - but they always end up with very odd layouts, or mislabeled buttons because they can't match your original remotes. This one has a near-perfect button layout that applies to most devices out there, and you can put your own labels on the commands that you have to display on screen. No more confusion. And since the IR codes come from an online database, even if you lost one of your remotes chances are that they still have all the commands there.
But the best part about this remote is the RF->IR extender that comes with it. Weather you have your components in a closed cabinet or not, it completely eliminates having to hold and point your remote in weird positions to use them. Or you can use a single cable box for multiple rooms - just have a coax line split from the box's output to all the TVs you want, and use this remote anywhere in the house.
Cons: The way the power is controlled for the devices gets a bit annoying. For normal use its fine - but with my setup I have the cable box's audio hooked up to both the TV and stereo - the TV sound is good enough for watching most shows but the surround makes movies so much nicer. Anyway, I wanted to put power and volume buttons for the stereo on the remote's screen under the "Watch TV", but you can't do that without adding the stereo as a device and having it turn on automatically when you select that activity. No way to stop that from happening.
Also, there's a small problem with devices that have only one "Power Toggle" command (as opposed to separate commands. So if you power something off by selecting the command from the "Devices" menu, it doesn't recognize that you did. So say I turn off the stereo like that while watching TV (after it automatically turned it on), once I switch from that activity it turns the stereo on, thinking that it was turned off instead.
Other Thoughts: If you don't care for the RF ability (with the wireless extender), don't bother getting this remote - go with one of the cheaper logitechs. They all have exactly the same buttons and do the exact same thing. You'll only get plain text on the screen instead of icons, but those icons aren't worth an extra $150+.

Good Remote Overall
Pros: I find the 890 to be effective replacement for all my remotes. The remote and the software are a powerful combination. I did not find any major difficulties in configuring the remote or the RF extender to my systems. Overall I am very pleased with purchase. I will follow-up with an update after further time with the unit.
Cons: The help feature is effective but not 100% of the time, especially in regards to the AppleTV. The 890 does control the AppleTV just like the original remote but the off button of the 890 does not function correctly with the AppleTV. I must bring the AppleTV to it’s main menu and then select the OK button to turn off before I select another activity. This is the only method to date that I have found that gives me consistent results with AppleTV

Great remote & great company!
Pros: Great remote! It controls everything I have. I love how I can program sequencese in to change the receiver to one channel, the TV to a certain input, etc. I even have a sequence that turns on my DVD player, waits for it to fully come on (it's an HD DVD player that takes forever to startup), turns the TV to the proper input, turns my receiver to DVD, ejects the DVD tray, and sets the light level in the room. How can you beat that? Plus it has made it very easy for my wife to finally be able to watch DVD's or watch the HTPC without my help.
Cons: I wish the screen had a better resolution on it but I guess you can't have everything in such a small package. It really is an amazing unit considering how much it does in such a small package. I feel like the software could be a little more GUI and a little less like the look and feel of a webpage but it's intuitive and usable.
Other Thoughts: The unit I had was a little goofy at first. The #6 button didn't work well and I almost RMA'd it but decided I could live with it then the problem went away. Just over a year later the remote died (and just a few months out of warranty). Logitech was excellent! The technician I spoke with was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Even though I was a few months out of my warranty they sent me a new remote! Not a refurb, a NEW one. I guess they understand that sometimes a person might be a little upset if their $300 remote control broke just months out of the warranty. I thought I was going to have to have a big arguement ahead of me but that wasn't the case. They really came through.

GREAT remote!!!!!
Pros: wow, Works every where best remote comes with extra IR for your equipment easy to configure, love the docking station, have left it off dock for 24 hours and still maintains charge, as soon as you pick it up it lights up.
Cons: letters small on the side like the PREVIOUS, or MUTE button but once you get used to it it wont be a problem
Other Thoughts: if you are thinking of putting your audio equipment in a closet or a cabinet with closed doors this is the perfect remote for you, I have all my audio equipment in a closet and the IRs pointing at my equipment and it works great. As usual Newegg always comes through with great shipping and great prices.

True Quality Product
Pros: Ease of set up, everything in one box, easy to follow instructions, not too high tech-just write for anyone to set-up/operate. Backlit buttons are easily viewable in dim/dark. Online database is ginormous
Cons: buttons a bit small but got familiar quickly
Other Thoughts: Reading all the other reviews I don't get the negativity. Charge the battery first (overnight). Get all your model numbers. Follow the instructions 1, 2, 3.... set-up took me 30 minutes for 5 components and 4 activities. Online component database had everything from a 15 year old VCR to a new model Denon AV/R. 1 small error in set up choices I made but the help function corrected my error and applied the fix to all activites.

Pros: Remote is easy to use, has an impressive array of functions. The IR emitters that come with it are small and emit in nearly all directions, making it easy to set up multiple devices so that you don't actually need line-of-sight with the remote. I was able to put my X Box 360 and PS2 behind the TV, and the AV receiver behind the center speaker, and can control each perfectly even when in another room.
Cons: Doesn't seem to control all aspects of every device, but in some cases this is because not all functions can be controlled without going into a menu of some kind. Per-device controls are not always intuitive, but in fairness, they are sometimes still easier to use than some of the more obtuse device remotes. The wireless extender must be reprogrammed with the remote if you're using it at all anytime a change is made, and it can be a pain to remove it and reconnect it to a computer if said computer isn't within USB cable range of your entertainment center.
Other Thoughts: The wireless range extender is actually an IR emitter itself and can simply be aimed at some devices to control them without connecting any of the secondary emitters. It comes with 4 IR emitters which are actually split wires with 2 emitters on each end. Interestingly, I was able to connect a mono TRS audio cable from one of the jacks on the extender to the "IR In" on my Yamaha A/V receiver, and the receiver takes the signals without flaw through that lead. This can be a GREAT option for devices that have such a port, as you won't have to worry about figuring out where to stick one of those tacky little emitters, and the connection is 100% reliable. It may even be possible to use a Y-adapter to connect multiple devices directly like this. However, there are no guarantees that it'll work with a given device that does have the port, and my Yamaha receiver's IR OUT doesn't work with the emitters either so daisy-chains are out.

Cool product, but the display stops working after 13 months of very light use
Pros: I enjoyed the product for 13 months until the display stopped working. I was able to control everything via RF extender in a separate room DVR, MVIX, Receivers, Dish Network, dvd, and home theater receiver by activity
Cons: The display stopped working after 13 months, and it only comes with 1yr warranty. Logitech knows displays are defective and said "We are sorry, buy will have to pay for repair and shipping or buy a new one"did not want to stand by the product some times it hangs and battery needs to be taken out to maket work again.
Other Thoughts: Buy with an extended warranty, you will need it!

Do Not buy this product
Pros: As everyone has said in these reviews, this thing controls just about everything. Even Windows Media Center, which almost no universal remote can operate. That is one of the main reasons I spent up to $300 for this thing.
Cons: Hard to update the remote. I spend up to 15 minutes connecting and reconnecting the receiver to get the computer to recognize it. Then I would get that working, but than it wont recognize the remote, so you have to start all over again. It takes me about 45 minutes everytime I need to update it. I called Logitech and they determined it was the USB cord. Sent me a new one, same problem, they cant help me. In order to get help you have to go through (no exageration) 7 security questions. This is a remote for my home theater, not the U.S. nuclear arsenal! The remote can never get the input right on the TV. When I switch from my PVR to Cable (HDMI to Component input) It ends up on another TV input. Than I have to go through at least 5 keystroke steps to correct it. The buttons are VERY small, and hard to operate. In order to control specific components, it takes for ever, and then you have to reset everything in order to operate seamlessly again.
Other Thoughts: I was taking a big step by spending almost $300 for a remote control. I am greatly disappointed in this remote. I think it needs a generational leap in technology to easily do what they say it can do. Like artifical intelligence! ("What are you doing dave?" "I can't let you watch Bill & Teds Excellant Adventure again, Dave") In short DO NOT BUY THIS REMOTE.

Pros: Just plain cool!!!! talk about making life easy! Quickly switches my home theatre between tasks, easy to handle and understand. cool toy!
Cons: Gets a little combersome when you wnat to control specific aspects of one peices of equipment, like if your watching cable and need to access your DVR, you have to push a few buttons to get PVR control screens up, which is fine, but then you loose control of the volume until you switch to the reciever control screen or back to the TV universal function...wouldnt be a problem except that I've been blasted off the couch by sudden changes in volume a couple times as i switch tasks on the PVR
Other Thoughts: Buy one, they are just plain cool! I control half my house with one remote! 3 TV's 2 ent centers, 2 computers, and the ac! haha!

Best Remote Available
Pros: Purchased the 880 about 3 years ago and loved it. It did however go bad but it was covered under warranty. I was able to upgrade to the 890 during the warranty replacement and absolutley LOVE this remote.
Anyone who needs to turn on the lights evidently does not have the backlight option turned on, because every key and the display are clearly readable in the dark.
The remote has a great tactile response unless your fingers are numb.
The greatest advantage is to the control is not its ability to mimick other remotes but rather to combine the other remotes and run macros based on the desird function (e.g. TV, DVD, Radio, iTunes, Etc.). Once programed even the most novice user can configure even the most elaborate home theater system by simply selecting the desired function (e.g. TV, DVD, etc.) and the Harmony does the rest, configuring all the equipment and setting each hard and soft button to YOUR desired functions.
Cons: Battery Life could be a little better, or a second battery with a standby charger would be cool.
Other Thoughts: Logitech and others make touchscreen versions, but I prefer this unit as all of the basic functions are tactitle buttons with feedback. Can easily select 90% of desired functions with feel alone without even looking.
The remote is progammed by connectiung to the Logitech website and from what I can tell it has nearly 100% of the commands you would want, but just in case the remote can learn as well.
This remote is simply the BEST that I have found to date.

Pros: This remote does what it says it will - it controls all my components, including my media pc, with no line of sight requirement. It's got a very cool activity-based interface, which turns on and off components according to what you want to do. The included software works well enough, and is fairly easy to understand.
Cons: Because of the RF to IR blaster setup, there's a slight delay that can sometimes be irritating - for example, stopping at the right point while fast forwarding on the Tivo. Updating the remote with new commands takes a few minutes, which is fine but can become a very time-consuming process if you're experimenting with a new setup or don't get things quite right. If you're new to this, as I was, plan on setting aside several hours to get everything just right.
Other Thoughts: I read a lot of reviews of this remote that complained about early versions of the software. Fortunately, Logitech has updated it considerably, and while it still strikes me as somewhat clunky, it's stable and gets the job done.

Great In Concept...
Pros: It appears Logitech has made many improvements with their software since some of the early reviews. It was easy to add all my equipment and very easy to add macros. No need for a pro to come out and set up the remote. Rechargeable battery. RF allowed me to hide my equipment.
Cons: Poor layout on the remote. The buttons are too small, making it easy to hit the wrong buttons. If you are watching a movie you need to turn on the lights to see what you are doing. Every time you change or add equipment, or update the remote, the RF adapter needs to be reprogrammed. Keep this in mind when locating the RF adapter. The macros don't always work as designed. If I'm watching TV in the family room and decide to watch a DVD, the TV input doesn't change all/most of the time, and I manually need to change the TV input. This occurs when I'm using the satellite remote for TV and then switching to the Harmony for DVD. This remote will not control the PS3, which is a fault with Sony and not the Harmony, as this is not a Blue Tooth device and Sony did not add IR/RF.
Other Thoughts: All in all, for the money this remote is not too bad. Not perfect, but pretty nice if you can live with its' shortcomings. The people that put cost as a con evidently haven't shopped other universal RF remotes. For simplicity and cost this is a pretty good way to go. Anything else puts you in a whole other league of remotes, which mean more expensive and also paying a pro to set this up and again if you decide to make changes to your system.

Finally !
Pros: You don't need line of sight so the controller works even when the kids block the TV. When you use multiple commands this is the only way to go. Go ahead, hide your components in a cabinet.
Cons: Price. Too Bad you can't add the RF to the other remotes.
Other Thoughts: I have used Harmony remotes for years so I am used to the internet programming methods. The wife can finally use the home theater system with Sage HTPC and HD cable. Since it is RF the components never miss a signal.

Not worth the price
Pros: Color LCD, RF unit with upto 8 IR emitters(4 plugs/2 per wire), Tilt sensor, Charging cradle
Cons: Poor key layout, Feels very cheap(it all plastic) and slippery, with no tactical feel LCD low res
Other Thoughts: I bought this remote for it's RF because my TV is at one end of the room and the rest of my equpment is at the other end. While the RF works very well and makes the thing easy to use(no more "aiming" the remote!), the key layout and feel of the thing is horrible. The thing is pure plastic and slippery, so it is hard to hold onto. It also makes it hard to know where you fingers are, without looking(no real tactical feel).
The other (and biggest problem, IMO) is the number keys are small and right next to each other, with no spacing inbetween. This makes fat fingering VERY easy to do, when trying to enter a channel. We've done it so much, we are giving up on this remote and have gone to the URC MX-810 wothe the MRF-350 base.
Logitech looks like they did listen tho and "almost" got it right with the Logitech ONE remote. If ONLY they had included RF...

Solid choice
Pros: 4 Emitter outputs allow you to control multiple of the same device or with a little tweaking, shorten the execution time for macros by eliminating the settle time for other devices after they receive a code from another device. The range is pretty good, allowing me to control the volume 3 rooms away (approximately 40-50 ft through 3 walls 1 with electric and plumbing). Initial programming is very easy. Battery life is a lot better than the indicator will lead you to believe, we forget to put it back on the cradle all the time yet it seems to always last at least another day with only one bar left on the meter.
Cons: The LCD isn't as pretty as newer small LCDs. The same interface that makes initial programming easy makes it more difficult to do unusual custom stuff (usually it just takes a little extra thought about how to make the remote behave a little different).
The default timings and delays can introduce lag for commands sent through the RF extender. If you're willing to spend some time tweaking they can be minimalized. Limited ability to create custom/fancy button icons for the LCD. The curved shape of the bottom of the remote combined with the number keypad placement is not ideal and can take a little getting accustomed to.
Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this remote if you have a need to hide your equipment or cannot get line of site. For multi room control the lack of two way communication can be cumbersome (but 2 way remotes are big bucks and require far more setup).
If you're a bit compulsive like I am, budget yourself some time to set up the dedicated outputs and tweak the timings and delays. If you put in the time the macro execution times can be considerably improved and the delay for commands sent through the RF extender can be cut down to a point where it's barely perceptible.

Simple and Easy
Pros: Easy to use software and remote. Took no time to calibrate it to my systems. Nice to be able to point and it knows my satellite receiver.
Cons: CD with software came bent, so the drive would not read it. A simple download of the software fixed this problem.

Harmony 890, Mostly Hype
Pros: Setup is easy and fast (using a mac) and software is very clean and intuitive. For some, this may be worth the price.
Cons: buttons are small and not all are ideally placed, LCD is very low resolution, remote is extremely expensive and feels fairly cheap compared to some of my other remotes.
Other Thoughts: RF extender would not transmit, so I was going to send it back anyway, but the design is simply not worth the price. entering some codes into a regular universal remote takes 5 minutes and will save you two hundred bucks.

de-cluttered me
Pros: Great to control multiple things at once. does what it is supposed to do when it works.
Cons: wish the buttons lit up some. even a shadow. i know i will get used to where the buttons are tactally.. but until then i have to look down at the remote and that requires the lights in the room to be up a little instead of fully down when watching a dvd. I baught 3 of these at the same time. the first one i tried to setup was no good. it would not get passed the "hooked up to usb" screeen on remote. figured it was the remote after spending 5 hours on phone with tech support. i suggested plugging in another remote to see if it worked... it did. so warning. if it takes more than 10 minutes to synch with the remote.... send it back! lol its not the computer.
Other Thoughts: I do love this remote because it allows me to put all the electronics in the closet and close the door. its great!

Very Good remote, awful setup application
Pros: Nice remote, nice screen, good remote layout, activity based operation, large database of devices, RF (no line of sight).
Cons: Incredibly slow set up application (no, my computer is very fast…), wizard only based setup application makes it hard for advanced use.
Other Thoughts: If I can breakout the rating I will give it a 5 for the remote and the RF extender and a 2 for the setup application, it look like it is web based, and that makes it very, very, very, very slow and painful to use. Though once the remote is properly setup it is a pleasure to use. It replaced 7 remotes; I still can do all the things I need to do (even the advanced, rare use case).

Seemed Easy at first...but then...
Pros: Not overly cluttered with buttons, setup wizard is easy to understand, when its working well, worth its weight in gold
Cons: When it's not working well, not worth the ink on the box it came in. Pricey for simply being a device that changes channels and other states of electronic equipment.
Other Thoughts: The web based utility is fairly easy to understand. Most controls corresponded to my remote control buttons. Yet my "Watch DVD" activity selection refused to change my Reciever input from DTV/CBL to DVD. Removed and re-input my DVD player several times before she started working. And sometimes, my TV would power up, and sometimes not. My SAT box was set to allways remain on, yet sometimes, it would shut off. Very annoying. But, it is cool, (when its working) to hit one button and watch 4 items come on, and all change to the proper imputs, and in the case of a DVD, start to play. The WAF (wife acceptance factor) is also worth the price, even if a remote control doesn't seem to be worth 300 bucks.

Great after painful install
Pros: Controls everything without conflict. My LCD TV and my osund system had conflicting IR signals, no problem for this remote, all I had to do was asign diferent IR repeaters from the RF base and shazam, no more conflict.
Cons: Pain in the tail to install, the fact that you have to unplug the reciever every time you update the remote kinda sucks.
Other Thoughts: I got this for my wife, who was tired of having remotes laying all over the place, and she loves it. It will control anything you tell it to, its just a matter of teaching it what to control.

Works Great
Pros: Controls 2 tivos, tv, receiver, dvd, xbox 360 without a problem. After a night of fiddling, I was able to get it setup just right. Software is continually being updated. Haven't tried it yet but has z-wave for lighting control. Easy setup. You never need to point the remote at you equipment again.
Cons: Updating takes a while, you must update the IR receiver every time you update the remote settings. N bluetooth control (won't control the ps3). Screen is low resolution (I recommend turning off the icons)
Other Thoughts: A lot of people had problems with the software/hardware when this was first released. Seems like hardware quality issues and software issues have been resolved.

Poor design...
Pros: When it works, it will control all of your components, even through the solid theatre cabinets. The RF extender is a great idea and is easy to install.
Cons: The first remote I purchased through a local electronics merchant. The remote was fairly difficult to program, but I was prepared for that since I also own a Harmony 880. Within the first 2 weeks, one of the buttons from the keypad fell off of the remote and could not be re-attached. I returned it to the retailer. The next remote I had was also defective and I determined that it was DOA. The second remote never acted like the first one and kept telling me that the battery was low even after the initial charging that I gave it (about 2 weeks). The software gave me the opportunity to contact support via email-- which I did, but their suggestions were worthless. I also selected the "Contact Support via Phone" option, but when I clicked it, I was sent back to the main menu. I guess they didn't want me to call.
Other Thoughts: I was very dissapointed with this remote and took the second one I purchase back to the retailer. I would have purchased this remote from Newegg, but I was aware of the problems that I had with my previous remote and knew that there was a chance that I would have to return it.
The concept of this remote is excellent, but the application of it totally missed the mark for me. I gave this remote a 1 star because the poor construction (the button falling off), the poor firmware (the second remote being DOA), and the horrible support.

Awesome Remote
Pros: RF works like a charm Very easy to setup much easier than other remotes I like the hard buttons, I used to have a touch screen remote and that is not good for no look use. Separate IR blaster channels allow you to control two Tivos without having to reprogram the Tivo
Cons: When you update the remote you have to update the base and the remote. It's annoying to update the base because you have to unplug the power and all of the IR jacks. But this is only during setup, so after it's setup it's really no big deal.
Other Thoughts: I have nothing but great things to say about the remote.

Worst Mistake Ever
Pros: Has the potential to be a great remote. When it works it's a dream...sort of.
Cons: If you are a power user "you like to enter the chanel numbers to go straight to the channels" you won't really like the positioning of the number keys. The remote is very slippery and it's easy for it to fall out of your hand...especially when using the number buttons. This thing has been a nitemare ever since I opened the box. It has delays in it for some reason and Logitech doesn't seem to be able to fix it. I have an xbox 360, Sony DVD, Sony LyCOS 50" TV and a DirecTV RCA Tivo and the "delay" issues happen with all of these devices. It even has a delay a lot of times when you press the "Glow" button that lites up the display. I can't even use the remote it jams up and delays so often. There is nothing worse than pressing a button and when nothing happens you don't know if the signal went through or it's just acting up again. So you press the button again and about thirty seconds after each command things just start acting haywire. The S.W. for programming is lacking much as well
Other Thoughts: I am extremely dissapointed in Logitch and their support staff. Evertime I call in they have me do the same stuff over and over and is a waste of time.
I definately would not buy one of these untill they fix the mess. Even if they fix the mess I would be leary of the remote layout and how slippery it is.
