N/A Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 month to 1 year This user purchased this item from Newegg	11/27/2008 6:06:26 AM Not All Faces Can Use an Electric Shaver Pros: Articulating heads, Panasonic's durable reputation, Quiet operation, Easy to clean Cons: After one week of consistent and daily use, I ended up donating this shaver set to the local Salvation Army for charity. Despite using the proper "sensitive skin" gel for electric shavers, my face became very raw and I was developing bumps and lumps on my face. It was also getting red. I ended up going back to my manual Gillette Mach shaver. My face has now fully recovered (after 3 months or so). Other Thoughts: I followed the instructions in how to use the electric shaver to the letter. I even went to the Panasonic's web site for additional information. I just came to the conclusion that I am simply not compatible with electric shavers (or vice versa). 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Did you? Cons: After only 5 months the battery won't hold a charge. I'm going to complain to Panasonic and maybe (?) get some relief. But WHY should anyone have to go through the hassle of taking or mailing the darn thing back even if the service is free--and I have no idea that any good will come of the complaint. Other Thoughts: I'd try a different one. This was only so-so when the battery was good. I get a much closer shave than with the rotary blades. Cons: Transformer is not incorporated in shaver. Can be used in the shower which is nice Cons: Maybe it's the type of facial hair I have, but this thing does an aweful job with shaving. I tried going the 30 days of use they say you need to do so that your beard can adjust, but 2 months later and it provides a lousy shave. Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to New Eggs return policy and I'm stuck with it...no fault of New Egg though...they've treated me great in the past! So now I use it to help save on my Mach 3 blades since it shaves about 80% of my facial hair and I use the Mach 3 to finish up the other 20%. The only good thing about doing this is that my Mach 3 blades last a lot longer. Also the rebate is awful, send it in before the 30 days is up or you hosed! Easy to clean and easy to operate. I could keep on saying Cons: none for now. I just wish the battery would last a little longer between recharge time but that is really a minor very minor set back. Most rechargeable batteries have not caught up with the new gadgets out there anyway to my opinion (they are the weakest link at the moment). (see con)* in my time on the road, i have yet to run out of power- so much so that i actually stopped carrying the charger. i'm on the road frequently for 8-12 days. Cons: *the charger's a brick. heavy, big and it's not very travel friendly. not really a con for me, but when the battery is low- there is a noticeable speed loss in the blade. it's slight, but definitely there- won't have that problem if you keep it charged up. Having it available in the shower is a great feature. It definitely makes a difference to your skin and stubble to use this near the end of a warm shower. Cons: Not as good as my old remington or norelco (closeness), and if you push it too hard to your skin, it does seem to 'tweak' your skin. noise/ear trimmer seems cheaply made but for the price this set costs, it's in line and decent enough. If you're expecting something really solid and metal in both pieces, look elsewhere. These are are mass produced items that will last a bit longer than you would expect give the inexpensive price. Other Thoughts: For the price, the small hair trimmer is a plus. Overall, a good bang for the buck. It doesn't have the gadgetry and 'whiz bang' points that some of the expensive Braun (my current favorite still) or norelco's have, but you can use this for two years, throw it away and get another and still save less than the price of a high end shaver that performs similarly. I'm not too much into shaving. I sport a goatee and mustache and grow a beard when I don't feel like breaking out the cream and razor. But, this trimmer is really good. It doesn't take as long to use it, not as long as cream does that is. It's always a nice close shave, which is what makes things all for the good. The nose trimmer works tons better than I thought it would. This thing is actually really good. Cons: If it came in different colors, I probably would have bought a red one with purple flames. The shaver and ear & nose hair trimmer work well. Cons: 1. I think that its styling is a bit less than a Norelco/Philips. 2. Some people may prefer the rotary style of cutters in a Norelco for shaving as compared to its staright 'to & fro' cutter movement behind the screen. 3. The unit is bulkier than a comparable Norelco. It has a separate bulky charger in addition (instead of being built in like a Norelco with only an external charging cord). The charger is not auto-ranging for international voltages. If you are like my dad was and get up every morning & shave, i would bet this is for you. It is pretty good with stubble. but i you are like me and shave when it start looking bad, might not be for you. I tend to use it for day after touch up or after i use my beard trimmer. I had bloches and I looked like a Patchwork. I tried several times and just gave up. Back to using a regular razor. The nose trimmer works well. It would probably be more fitting if I had more facial hair. Cons: This product does not give me a close shave at all. I don't have thick facial hair and it doesn't look like I have shaved after I'm done. It also cut me twice which was extremely surprising after I used my old Remington for 5 years without ever being cut once. I also had to use after shave as I found my skin was irritated for the first time after using an electric shaver. I wish I would have read the refund policy on this item category because I request one if possible. Other Thoughts: Hopefully the rebate comes in as it will only be a waste of $20 instead of 40. This shaver cuts well. I've had a few of the Panasonics and like them far better than Braun and Remington. This was a deal I couldn't pass up with rebate it ends up just over $25.00 in all. Cons: Not as high RPM's as my other Panasonic. In it's defense though, I paid $150.00 for that one! Other Thoughts: Don't miss this deal, you won't be dissapointed. It works pretty well. It's quiet. The LED battery indicator is nice. Cons: Feels slow compared to the Linear model it replaced. Other Thoughts: This does a pretty good job, overall. I use it in the shower, and it's effective. I had a Panasonic Linear model prior to this, which operated at 13K rpm, and this one seems like it's slower and takes a bit longer to shave than with the other one. Nose hair trimmer works well! low cost! Cons: Shaver doesnt give a close shave (at all) - unless I press it against the direction of hair growth. And its uncomfortable. Other Thoughts: I am a East Asian person - and I never considered myself to have thick hair. I have been used to Gillette sensor razor for ever. I have never really used an electric shaver. So I bought this item - and from day 1 - it really didnt give me a good shave ever! Of course it was uncomfortable but beyond that - the shave was nowhere close. I appeared to have not shaved at all! This is true in dry mode or wet (very little foam as per instructions mode). The only way it actually made any difference, was if I shaved against the direction of hair growth (shave from bottom to top). In that mode, it actually did shave somewhat. I know the instructions said that I should try it for 30 days. But 7 days is too long to go on without appearing to have shaved. Its not worth it even for $20 (after rebate). I am not even going to bother fill out rebate and hope that good folks at newegg refund me my money. Perhaps it works for those with thinner hair.. but it didnt work for me. At $40, it's a very good deal but with the rebate ($20), it's a steal. Nice fit and finish, seems like a quality build. Made in China like almost everything else these days. I'm glad I made the purchase. Cons: It's kind of big and a little heavy for a 2 blade razor. Also, as others have noted, the power charger is kind of bulky, not something you want to carry in a shaving kit on a road trip. It should be one of those thin ones with a fold-in AC prongs but it's not. Also, no car charger / adapter included. For something that's a deluxe gift set, it comes in a very plain white box. Just a minor quibble. Other Thoughts: Grr...rebates. A pain and I usually don't end up getting them no matter how long I wait. They wear you down trying to get them to honor them to the point where it's not worth your time. Still, I'll send it in and hope for the best. It's been almost a week and my face hasn't totally adjusted to the shave. I currently have a year old tri-rotary Norelco XL that gives me a better cut around curves. Being a skinny person, I have more facial ridges that I find rotary blades tend to cut better than dual (or triple) foil electrics. The trimmer is a lot more quiet than my noisy Remington and works decently. For the price, this is a great razor. It provides a close enough shave for my daily needs (I don't get the five o'clock shadow). If you want a closer shave though, stick with a manual. I have only shaved once with it, but my face is already used to the Panasonic razors. I love this new one; closer shave, faster, charge indicator lights, 1 hour full charge, fast sharp trimmer, and the middle long hair trimmer works as advertised. My old one did not have the long hair trimmer between the foils, so this is a treat! The trimmer is nice since it came with the razor, but it is only rechargeable if you use a rechargeable AA cell, which is probably not recommended. Great fast shipping (free to subscribers on this item!) Great price (get one before their gone!) Cons: none so far Other Thoughts: I have used Panasonic razors since the first one came out.
