Read you mauals
Pros: The fact that this DVD player plays just about anything you put in it makes this player a steal at this price. Don't believe the other reviews about not having a FWD, RWD, or SLOW on remote. They are there but are just not labeled. Common sense and just reading the manual will show you this. By the way did I mention picture quality as well as sound quality are superb.
Cons: Yeah the startup may be a little slow but common(a minute). Just shows how spoiled we are these days. I guess some other cons are that it doesn't cook dinner for me or tuck me in at night.
Other Thoughts: For the money and quality of sound/picture, this player is a steal. Buy it now with no worries.

Ok player
Pros: Mute. Plays DIVX and VCDs (have not tested).
I have not had any playing or reading issues with this player.
Cons: Several second delay after power on before device is usable while it boots the firmware.
DVD’s take several seconds to load and begin playing when inserted.
Player does not allow skipping in all chapters (Like logos or advertisements).
Remote is not very intuitive for FF and rewind (Big unmarked circle on upper portion of remote. I’m guessing this is because it’s multi-functional. Not very helpful IMHO)
Other Thoughts: Overall I have been disappointed and would not recommend this DVD player.
For some reason the remote feels like it should be pointing in the other direction. I have picked it up and tried to use it upside down several times after only glancing at it. It could just be the design of other remotes I am accustomed to using.

Pros: It runs.
Cons: The DVD player can only upscale with a HDMI cable plugged in. This is a very important bit of info if your TV doesn't have a HDMI input like mine. Also lack of Optical for sound and S video ports.
Other Thoughts: Will more than likely be returning this because of its inability to upscale with out a HDMI cable plugged in. You shouldn't need to use an HDMI cable to upscale to 720p and 1080i. DO NOT buy this if your TV doesn't have a HDMI input.

Not the best, but not bad at all
Pros: Small, Simple design, HDMI up sampling, like and trust Philip's TVs and Home theater Electronics, remote is full featured, you just have to point it DIRECTLY at the sensor it seems
Cons: No S-Video or Optical Audio out, Remote Range Effectiveness, Slow Start up, got it a little cheaper locally, OPEN Button WILL NOT TURN ON THE PLAYER- a minor annoyance you Must turn it on first...
Other Thoughts: ***there ARE buttons for FastForward/Rewind/Slowmotion*** (the 4 menu select buttons at the top of the remote, {the circle})and you even can eject disc by holding the stop button.....the other reviewer who is missing these features needed to read the manual more perhaps

Nice DVD Player for the Price
Pros: Upscaling to 1080i really makes the picture much better on a HDTV. Has a low profile design, easy to navigate set up menus, lots of options, upgradable firmware, and an intuitive remote layout.
Cons: No optical audio output, but DHMI to TV, and then optical from TV solved this.
Other Thoughts: Btw, yes it does have rewind, fast forward, and slow motion functions. To use these, just use the same arrow keys that you use to navigate DVD menus. Also, it does take a little time to load up (clocked at 45 seconds), but it takes me about that much time to put the disc in, make my way to the chair, and get comfy. Therefore, it's not really a problem.

Just the right touch of everything
Pros: Simple remote, small profile, big options (changing resolution from 480P to 1080i mid movie is easy), great picture, and plays anything you throw at it SVCD, DivX, MPEG4, etc... The upscaling is icing on the cake. Worth the money to invest before taking a big leap into the big bad HD-DVD or Bluray world. Just get a cheap HDMI cable, and you're all set.
Cons: none

Awesome DVD DiVX player
Pros: This thing is awesome... it plays anything I throw at it. From VCD/SVCD to downloaded .avi on a DVD, or CD, its just great! The HDMI capability along with progressive scan make this a top of the line player at a blue light special price. The digital audio out also adds to the enjoyment of using this device. I have paired the unit with a set of Logitech z5500 speakers and a 32' RCA screen... a great combination for the bed room.
Cons: NONE! :-)

Don't expect the best at this price.
Pros: HDMI out. Can change between resolutions while watching a movie. Improved picture from a non-upconverting DVD player. Cheap
Cons: There is no fast forward, rewind, or slow buttons. That means if someone says something and you miss it, you have to scan back to the previous chapter. That surprised me as I haven't seen a DVD player without that feature in 8 years. Very slow to turn on and start playing movies (about 1 minute)
Other Thoughts: If it had fast forward and fast rewind, I would have given it 5 stars for the value at that price.
