Pros: Works well.

Cons: Doesn't pay the electric bill.

Rating + 5 Pays for it's self in no time

Pros: Great for letting you know how much power things are using when they are just plugged up and how much things that are on are using that don't need to be on. I found out my printer was pulling about 45 watts an hour. Thats about 50KW a year that I don't need on.

Cons: Somewhat hard to get out of those plugs that have the flat plug on them for people who don't have finger nails.

Other Thoughts: I bought it to charge customers for power I was using while fixing there computers well more or less to justify adding it into my price.

Rating + 5 Works very well

Pros: - Variety of uses
- Accurate
- You dont need to be a certified electrician to use it

Cons: - Blocks the second outlet on the wall
- Multimeter can do the same thing, but it is not quite as convenient

Other Thoughts: I have had a number of friends borrow this for a number of reasons. It's simply a convenient tool... I have an expensive multimeter that does everything, but this fits a different need.

Rating + 5 It works fine

Pros: Does exactly what it says it does, no more, no less. Perfect for anyone who is curious about their power usage in a certain device.

Cons: Doesn't literally kill my watts. Wish it came with mini extension cords, I haven't always had room for a big wall wart in some situations.

Other Thoughts: It beeps when you press the buttons.

Rating + 4 Good Gadget

Pros: Great for getting a readout quickly without dragging out the DVM and fooling around with it. Seems solid enough although the USPS was able to destroy the first one sent, NE replaced in a hurry.

Cons: Blocks second outlet, a little hard to read when plugged in, not exactly accurate to the nth degree.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is tops, I always start here first, then look at prices and reviews other places but almost always end up back here, I love NE!

Pros: does what I need it to do

Cons: Only 4 eggs because it's a little slow on it's sampling rate. If it had slightly faster sampling, it would be easier to read/track wattage.

Other Thoughts: works for me

Pros: This device does what I expected it too. Nothing more and nothing less although, (see other thoughts)

Cons: A lighted display would be nice!

Other Thoughts: What I find that could be very useful and prompt me to buy over this unit. This exact economy meter coupled with a cost per month counter that is price adjustable.

Rating + 4 Seems to work, blocks plug

Pros: Not having something to verify the readings, I can only assume that it's fairly accurate at doing what it's supposed to do.

Passes through the electricity, gives a reading... what more can you ask?

Cons: Takes up a good chunk of outlet space - prevents most plugs from plugging into the other outlet on the same wall socket - lower profile seems do-able...

Rating + 5 Helps ALOT - lets me know what's wasting money

Pros: Very simple to use. Let's you see what devices in your home are running up the Electric Bill.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Our entertainment center (including a 73" TV) was a concern. It only uses .5 KWH per hour.

Small space heaters that we were using all the time, run 1.4 KWH per hour. Huge waste of electricity! Instead we turned up the central heat a couple degrees and rarely use the small space heaters any more.

This device has, and will continue to, save(d) us money!

Pros: Usefull while it last

Cons: Low quality. Stopped working after 6 months.

Rating + 4 Nice to have

Pros: -It's been working for me for about 18 months.
-Fits nicely on the top of my belkin power strip which has a couple outlets on the top and the rest on the sides. Most people tell me that it looks like it's part of the power strip. XD
-Extremely easy to use, as long as you're familiar with basic electricity terminology (e.g. volts, watts, amps, Hz, KWH, etc...) than each of the buttons should require no explanation.

Cons: -Display is hard to read at an angle and is not lit so if it's plugged into a power strip/outlet behind a desk or something it's basically impossible to read without breaking your back.
-As soon as you unplug it all recorded data is lost.

Other Thoughts: I got this for free when buying my TV from an online retailer as a sort of bonus. I had always wanted something like this simply to fill the curiosity in knowing how much juice my computer and other things were using. I never cared enough to go out of my way to buy one though.
I use it almost constantly for my computer, regularly checking it to see how much power I'm using under different scenarios.
To me it's little more than a toy but if you really want to use it to sniff out where you're electricity is going to cut electric costs than this should work.
I can't attest to its accuracy since I've never checked it against anything else but the numbers seem to be what I would expect so it's probably close enough for most purposes.
It would be more enticing if the display was easier to read or if it kept the recorded data after being unplugged but that would no doubt make it more expensive.

Pros: Works well, High quality and Neweggs sale price is great

Cons: Poor design, blocks half of duplex outlet, front display is hard to read on a low wall outlet

Other Thoughts: Wish I had known about the Ryobi unit before I bought the P3. The Ryobi doesn't block the outlet and has a top reading display, which is much easier to see. The Ryobi also has battery powered memory so it can save your readings after you unplug it.

Tech Level: somewhat high
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg

Rating + 4 It works as advertised

Pros: It definitely works as advertised. Overall a decent set of metrics to gauge power consumption. I like that it tallies up the usage over time.

Cons: Like the other reviews have said, the screen is dark and there is no backlight. Be prepared to use a flashlight. Most of the outlets I have are in not so bright areas. Another small gripe is that it doesn't store any readings because it doesn't use batteries. One more small gripe-- it is pretty bulky and takes up several outlets on some power strips.

Other Thoughts: I'm stoked about finding the real power leeches in my home. You'd never think that a comcast cable box consumes 15 watts even when it's turned off. My desktop computer consumes around 75 watts and for whatever reason it won't suspend or hibernate automatically. This amounts to a 5 dollar per month increase in energy. Bummer. I'm looking for a new mobo.

Rating + 4 Useful until it breaks

Pros: I own three of these, and found them very useful to measure both instantaneous and long-term usage on individual plug-in circuits.

Cons: I've had 2 units die, both because of LCD display failure. Retailer replaced one under their 30-day warranty, P3 grudgingly replaced the other after a phone call; they did not respond to e-mail. Be sure to save your receipt and packaging. Other major con is that your long-term monitoring data will be lost if power fails even momentarily - an internal battery backup or other means of retaining collected data would be a great addition.

Other Thoughts: I wish there were a 220VAC version to measure large appliances, AC, pumps, etc.

You get some surprises when you look at point consumption in the house. I found that it's costing me about $500/year to keep everything in my LAN running 24/7, among other things. Big plasma TV/home theater was surprisingly inexpensive.

Pros: It works, an easy way to see electricity use and it checks voltage and Hz realtime.

Very handy device. You could use it to load test a circuit in your house by watching voltage and running a high current appliance through it

Rating + 1 Neat, but not durable or very practical.

Pros: Neat way to find out how much juice each device is taking.

Cons: Blew out after a few days. Internal short. Made my UPS go nuts. If I had plugged it directly into the wall, it might have burned my house down.

It is not very useful unless you attach an extension cord to it. Only outlets with nothing else plugged in and lots of space around them can be used. And even then, you can't read it 1 foot off the floor.

Newegg has 30 day refund. Stupid P3 company does not answer emails asking for an rma. For $15, it's not worth chasing them down.

Other Thoughts: Measure everything you need to measure fast before it blows out. 30 day Newegg return policy......

Rating + 5 Does exactly what it needs to do

Pros: Has all the basic things you'd expect in a convenient, clean package. Display can show voltage, current, calculate watts being consumed in realtime, tell you the frequency of your power and calculate the KWH for the attached load.

Cons: - Feels a bit hollow/cheap.
- Clearance problems with certain outlets, might want to have an extension handy.

Other Thoughts: - Unit also has a PF and VA setting (presumably power factor and volt-ampere) which I haven't fiddled with yet.
- I have an APC UPS that does the same thing, but this thing is great because I can actually carry it around and test other things with it.

Rating + 5 Definitely Buying One Of These!

Pros: Easy to use.
Supports high wattage devices.
Shows you: Amperage / Voltage / Records KW usage while plugged in / Frequency of the Signal

Cons: How's about a USB plug to connect it up to some monitoring equipment like a computer? :)

I'm not sure how quickly this would show a sudden change in amperage.

Other Thoughts: I was considering adding a third graphics card to my machine, and naturally needed to know how many kilowatts my system was using...

Sooo I picked up one of these babies from the LIBRARY to test out (they're free here to borrow for a week). Now I can't live without one.

I can tell exactly how much power my computer is using with this. When my system is maxed out with everything 100% or if some program changes and it's not working as hard as it could be. (I run software that does a lot of calculations .. think folding@home)

Every over clocker should have one!

ps. the library charges $60 if you lose one of these!

Rating + 4 Handy device

Pros: This is a very handy device to have around for measuring the amount of electricity you use. Good size display. Contrary to what you have been hearing your cell phone charger uses no power while plugged in after the battery is fully charged, however if you leave your rechargeable drill battery in the charger, the charger draws power even if the battery is removed from it. Users will be surprised on how much power they are using even when some devices are off.

Rating + 4 Very Handy!

Pros: Simple to use, reports on several different aspects of power use, works with a UPS.

Cons: Can be hard to get to to read, use a flashlight if you need to.

Other Thoughts: Handy gadget to have around the house. Using it to get a feel for how much power is used by different electrical and electronic items around the house is an eye opener!

Where it's helped me out the best is determining how efficient the computer power supplies are, and this makes an BIG difference when spec'ing out a UPS for you system.

If the power supply doesn't have Active PFC then you may be drawing twice as much power as you need to run the computer (the extra power is being wasted as heat). So with a lower PFC (in my case 0.62), to run your computer for 10 minutes after a power failure you would need a UPS with a higher rating (say a 800-1000VA rated UPS).

A computer power supply with a PFC rating of 0.99 could run for 10 minutes after a power failure with a lower rated UPS (say a 500-600VA rated UPS), saving you tons of $$ in buying a cheaper UPS.

Yet the rest of the computer hasn't changed, only the power supply! There are several good websites on VA rating and PFC.

Pros: not sure.

Cons: Voltage shows up wrong! We got 2 units and both are off in terms of voltage, mine shows 175 volts!! that is just not true, i tried multiple locations, there is no way that voltage is at 175V. The other one was a bit better but still off showing voltage at 125 which is still too high.

Rating + 4 Good for lower power stuff

Pros: Works like is says. All the functions have their own usefulness. The display of volts and frequency should work good for me to set up generators.

Cons: The plastic around the prongs started to melt after about 3 hours of an 1100 watt load. It gets only 4 eggs because the thing started to melt.

Other Thoughts: A neat little gadget for the curious and inquisitive. I plan to use it to set up generators as it will allow me to switch from volt to frequency easier than the probes of a test meter. Does not seem to like a bigger load, which is fine for most small appliances and short bursts required to start some stuff with electric motors like a fridge. Runs good for hours on 50" plasma with full home theater system. Worth the price for the satisfaction of curiosity.

Ribble
Tech Level: high
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg

Rating + 4 Awkward to use

Pros: Small size and lightweight. Has everything needed to check and monitor power quality and load. Large enough digital digits to be read at a distance out to better than 10 feet.

Cons: Intended to plug into a wall outlet rather than in your face, so I used an extension cord. But still awkward because cord in and cord out means the unit can't be laid flat nor will it stand vertical.

Button labels are small and text in LCD display is too small to read. LCD backlight would be nice.

AC Plug In/Out could be better arranged to make it much easier to use.

No reset button, so you have to unplug to reset recorded time and KWH.

Other Thoughts: Meter works well and is easy to use once the location problem is sorted out and after you learn the button placement and what units to expect.

Making the meter bigger and heavier would solve most problems, but then who wants it bigger and heavier.

Years ago I was going to build one of these, so I am amazed at the number of functions and the small size, and of course the very low price.

Rating + 5 Well Designed Product

Pros: Good design allows you to fit almost any plug on the device, even ones with transformers. Large LCD is easy to read from feet away, but it has to back-light. Product is very easy to understand. Press the button for the measurement you want to see, device resets when unplugged from wall. (NewEgg also has the best price I've seen on this product.)

Cons: Good design (see Pro's) blocks multiple outlets when plugged into the wall.

Other Thoughts: The size of the unit on the wall can be resolved by using a short extension. This could be irrelevant if you're plugging in a surge protector. P3 also offers a more expensive model with built in multi-outlet surge protection. Nice product.

Pros: Everybody needs at least one of these. You will be amazed by how much power most of your TVs, stereos, PCs and peripherals suck when they are sitting there "doing nothing".

Cons: No battery, so loses all info when power glitches or you unplug it. If you are going to monitor equipment long-term, use a UPS. The older model has a battery, but this one is actually so much easier to use, so I don't miss it.

Rating + 3 Dead after 3 months

Pros: Displays voltage, wattage, and some other neat functions.

Cons: Left this unit plugged in between an UPS for my PC and a surge protector. Unit died after 3 months. Unlikely surges had anything to do with it as the surge protector is fine and has not tripped. We have had a couple brownouts... But I would expect a power meter to be able to handle fluctuations in power.

Other Thoughts: Worked as advertised. I was able to tell how much power my entire setup (2 monitors, Core i7 system, and Xbox 360) would draw at full and minimum load... Which is very helpful with an average electric bill of $400+.

Pros: Measures pretty much anything you'd need for a single phase 120VAC line. It handles up to 15 amps, so it works with all my equipment. This is a must have device, and it works as advertised.

Cons: The screen is a little hard to see in some receptacles. Unless you have it extremely well lit, you really need a small flash light to make certain readings. If you can avoid any shadows, you can see it just fine.

Pros: Extremely easy to use. Great for Server Room auditing. I used this in-front of UPS systems, and it gives great, accurate information. Rating + 5 Kill-A-Watt Review

Pros: Does what it says it does. The meter is very accurate and updates maybe 4 times a second? Great for testing the various appliances in your house, or studying the power usage of any appliance you have in question. I use to keep track of my laptop setup's power usage.

Cons: It resets every time you unplug it. A short memory time frame would be appreciated. But its not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Toshiba P105 uses about 55 watts idle and 90watts with games running. CPU intensive apps run it up to 65 watts.

Got other stuff running off USB and other powered devices. Total its an average of 60 watts.

Also have a low end consumer HP desktop that sucks about 59 watts idle. Not bad for a desktop I suppose.

I eventually want to use this to monitor power usage from a solar setup. Makes a great all around tool.

Rating + 4 could not measure microwave

Pros: Easy to use, light

Cons: Power rating is low - not enough to measure some household items.

Other Thoughts: It was cool to measure consumption from everything at my home, before I plugged my microwave into it. It started beeping, and as I was watching current - it went more than "Kill-a-watt" is specified at. I was disappointed as my microwave is just a regular one. Another thing is that once I had to unplug every device from a power stripe, because of the orientation of the holes in it and the design of the "Kill-a-watt". And, a lot of devices - like a fridge, are plugged in behind themselves or other furniture. You may plugin "Kill-a-watt" into that outlet, but you won't see the display. My tip is to use an extension cord with a ground wire in such cases.

Rating + 5 works well

Pros: It works just as it says it does. Told me the power consumption load of everything I have plugged into a wall socket in my house.

Cons: They could seriously put an LED light to light it up. Or better yet, Indiglo background so we can actually SEE what it's saying, lol! cheap idea for what we are paying for! just saying

Other Thoughts: It's good to find out what sort of "power vampires" are lurking in the house. A fan plugged and not used will still drain power, DVRs, basically anything plugged in will be sucking wattage even at idle.

Rating + 4 A nice device to have

Pros: Does exactly what it states it can do. I like 'knowing' what everything in my home uses in terms of KWHs.

Cons: No backlight, had to use a flashlight to see screen in darker areas.

Other Thoughts: This is a must have for all those who have wondered how much electricity each appliance or device uses, and when multiplied by your local Electric Company's KWH price rate, then you'll know how much $$ each uses per hour. Our rate is .22 cents per KWH ....

Rating + 5 Amazingly useful

Pros: this device is great for checking loads and for actual power consumption from the wall. i used it to determine that a diablotek power supply is grossly overrated (and an in win and an antec power supply are right on the money for power)

Cons: does not hold metering when unplugged, so any monitoring required some creative use of an extension cord to bring the meter out where you can see it.

Other Thoughts: i went ahead and gave it 5 stars, cause it is so useful and cheap!

Pros: It tells me how much power my computers use (assuming it is accurate). It was very inexpensive.

Cons: It would have been nice if it came with a short extension cord but I did not expect it at the price.

Other Thoughts: Using a short extension cord allows it to be readable without getting on the floor and also allows something else to be plugged into the same socket.

Cons: Bulky - covers 2 outlets

Rating + 5 Amazing, Every Computer Builder Should Own One

Pros: Easy to use and incredibly useful. Plug it in and it tells you the watts being used and a whole bunch of other info. Of course watts are the only thing that matters. Within minutes I could tell that my PC used exactly 84-86 watts idle and 120 or so peak. Amazing device. For the price every computer builder should own one.

Cons: Would be nice to be able to turn the power pins, like some surge protectors do.

Other Thoughts: For those people saying it's useless because if you put it behind your desk or whatever you can't see the LCD, use an extension cord? Durrrrrrrrr

Rating + 5 P3 Kill A Watt works as described.

Pros: This works exactly as you would expect. I found out that my stereo that I never use consumes 25 watts even when it is turned off... and many other fun finds. My new "green" dlink switch will pay for itself in 26 years because it takes up 2 watts less :) Fun! I highly recommend this to anyone interested.

Cons: The design is very flawed in that it takes up the entire wall socket, both slots. You can't use something above or below it. A better design would be for it to have a wire coming out of each side, basiscly "inline" with a power extension cable...

Other Thoughts: Practical and fun. I've had mine for over a year.

Pros: Very nice - I kept hearing good things about this, and they were all true.

Cons: Only one: If you plug this thing into one socket of a standard 2-outlet plate, the second outlet is blocked. No biggie, considering that most people will be plugging this into a 15A circuit so it's not like you could measure anything much over that anyhow.

Other Thoughts: Really good to find out how much power my PC sucks up. Oh, and my tower fan, when off, sucks 3W. Soft power switches FTL!

Rating + 3 Inaccurate readings

Pros: Great for comparing power usage between products.

Cons: Useless for getting an accurate reading. With nothing plugged in, it fluctuates between 0.12 and 0.14 amps, reads 1 watt, fluctuates between 15 and 17 VA, and gives a power factor of 0.05 - 0.07. This makes measuring low power equipments useless.

Other Thoughts: Not sure how the above numbers were detected. A purely resistive incandescent light bulb would read 74 W and 75-77 VA which is not too bad considering stray capacitance and inductance.
Also the LCD is somewhat hard to read unless you are directly in front of it with lots of light.
Other than the calibration error, this would've been a great product considering the features and the price ($20 shipped).

Pros: Does what it says

Cons: No QA. Accuracy is lacking - My unit shows 3 Watts at a minimum. Even with nothing plugged in. I'm not sure if a 5 watt reading means the device is drawing 5 watts, or 2. That means I can't tell if an energy star appliance is working as expected.

Other Thoughts: The cost of return shipment makes an RMA pointless.

Rating + 5 The Kill-A-Watt opened my eyes!

Pros: Very easy to use and to understand. It really gave me a handle on how much power I was using. I discovered that my cable box was costing me $45 to have it in my home. I complained to the cable company, and they promised to replace my box with a new energy efficient one. (The new box will cost $14 per year or so to operate). This is thanks to the Kill-A-Watt total energy usage selection.

Cons: None that have come to my mind. It is a perfect design, in my opinion.

Other Thoughts: This product cost me a lot of extra near term money, for a bigger savings later. I plugged my fridge in this and found out how much money I was spending to run it. I bought my fridge 28 years ago. Back then it was efficient. After monitoring it's usage, I found it used a lot more than the new EnergyStar approved devices.

Within two weeks, I bought that new fridge. I expect that in the next 8 years, at present electric rates, this fridge will have cost me nothing. Of course we know where the rates are going. (BTW, the old fridge cost me around $2800 to operate over it's life at my house).

I also used this to adjust the backlight on my HDTV. I compared the picture quality vs. the power consumption and found a happy point.

This unit is very inexpensive, especially when you can find savings like I have.

Rating + 1 Very poor product

Pros: Free shipping.

Cons: Unit is not accurate. No battery backup, so the first week I used it and unpluged it from behind my desk ALL information was LOST. Unless you can visibly see the meter it is of NO use. So do not waste your time in attempting to calculate kilowatts used if unit is not able to be seen while in use. All of my video, computers, radios, refrigerator, microwave have outlets that ARE NOT in visible view, making Kill a Watt DEAD when it is unplugged because it does not have a backup battery.

Other Thoughts: When a product sounds to good to be true it probably is. Same here. Use a decent VOM meter and measure the amps and calculate the wattage (amps x voltage) times your electric cost (tampa florida about 11 cents per Kilowatt). Average the number of hours the appliance runs and you will come close to the electric use of your appliance. Time taken several minutes per appliance.

Pros: This device will tell you everything you could want to know about power consumption of the AC powered appliances and other devices around your home.
Frequency, voltage, watts, KWh over time. You name it, it's all right there.

Cons: Minor, but worth noting, when plugged into a wall socket, the second outlet is unavailable. Not worth knocking off an egg just because of that.

Rating + 5 So Useful

Pros: This is one useful little thing. I mainly use the instantaneous power measurement (watt meter), but have also used the KWH measurement to see, for example, how much electricity my computer uses over a week.

Basically, you can research power usages on-line, but nothing compares to having the hard numbers right in front of you. Definitely worth the price, especially when it goes on sale.

Cons: None that I know of. Does everything it's built to do, and does it well.

Other Thoughts: Someone told you your computer needs a 1000 Watt PSU, right? Think again...

Rating + 5 Does its Job

Pros: I've been trying to get my family to "go green" for some time now, and this just seemed like the perfect tool to do that. We are in the process of checking everything in the house for wattage and calculating out how much things cost to run them 24/7. Hopefully I can sway the members of my family to completely shut items off while they aren't in use.

Cons: None that I can think of. It'd be nice to have an "average" feature for volts/amps/watts etc., but that's nitpicking!

Other Thoughts: Well, it does it's job and it didn't cost a whole lot. It'll probably pay for itself in a month or two knowing our house.

If you need an on-the-go formula to calculate how much something costs to run use these:

Plug in your unit and use the watt feature. Wait until it stabilizes. If it doesn't, you can guess an estimate (median of the fluctuation), but it won't be as accurate.

Take your Watts/1000 = KwH

Take this number and multiply it by how much a KwH costs you (on your utility bill). This is the cost to run the product at it's current state (i.e. for computers there is sleep/hibernate/on/completely off/etc) for one hour. Now you can obviously multiply that by 24 to get how much it costs for one day and then by 365 for the year. This will give you a basic estimate. You can modify the formula to fit your needs as well:

(Watts/1000)*(Cost per KwH)*(Hours/day of use)*(days used in a year) = Cost to run the item.

Rating + 5 A bargain but...

Pros: This is a bargain even at twice the price which I paid for it here last year. Does everything and if you record results on sticky pads after leaving it on appliances for a year you will save fast. PCs and entertainment centers are bigger chompers than refrigerators. Will pay for itself the first week and I know nothing like it for less than a few hundred dollars!

Cons: NO BACK LIGHT AND BLOCKS SECOND OUTLET. Use 6ft extension cord and you solve both problems. Needs peak inrush recording method to top out the list of features.

Other Thoughts: First keep it on the end of an extension cord so you can handle and view the device without getting down on your knees with a flashlight. The display is good when head on but it has no back lighted LCD and that is a real negative. Now start by plugging your computer in and reading wattage, power, etc. Then enter your electric rate. Leave you computer on for a day and then read out cost...keeping it from hibernating or sleeping. Now do the same but keep it in standby. Your will find on a P4 well equipped PC with LCD displays that at 11 cent a KW your paying about $500 a year for normal use if you work at home. Standby only gets me down to $200. Now a laptop is under $100 a year. Try this for other things and you will find surprises. My fridge was only $20 a month compared with the energy sticker and small fridge for wine was $4 as was water cooler. Knowing standby cost is important in today's world.

Rating + 5 Great Unit

Pros: Not only ouputs power usage, but also gives you info about the power coming in. i.e. voltage, frequency, amps, etc. In less than 12 hours, it's already helped me make a few informed desisions about my computer.

Ouputs kW*hours so you can get an "average" of power comsumption over the course of a few days and calculate easily how much it's costing you. This feature is important because 9 out of 10 devices will have a peak power consumption, and an "idle" power consumption over the course of a day. This means finding the instantaneous power draw is not an accurate estimate for total kW*hours.

Cons: There is no way to pick up instant peaks in power, or get an ouput of the highest peak since last plugged in. That would be nice, beacsue computers often have little spikes that require bigger PSU's than you would think from the Kill-a-Watt reading.

Wish the screen refreshed a little more often/quicker. but it's not a huge deal. I also wish the screen had a backlight..would make it easier to use under desks or behind the fridge...again..not an egg killer.

Other Thoughts: Great product..and it is well made too. This is a tool I will be using for years..I'll probably make a little case for it so i can toss it in the tool box.

Pros: price, muti functional

Cons: Took an egg off for:
no back light - could be an on/off switch so as not to add to what you are measuring but could still see the freakin display

no dongle so you could actually pull it toward you to read - placed it on a power strip for that but still, what could a short dongle cost to make this thing shine

Other Thoughts: Bought this mainly to measure how much juice I was putting back into my ebike battery. Wanted to get a ballpark figure for what power I was using per mile given different things such as riding style, terrain etc. It's all geek EV stuff but important information if you get into EV. There are more accurate devices to do this but for a twenty spot, this will cheap and it gets me close

Cons: Blocks outlets if you don't have it on an extension cord.

The whole point in buying one of these is to save enrgy but the data is meaningless since they don't tell you how to interpret the readings.
