Rating + 3 Hyundai vs. Lexus

Pros: 1) Large Hard Drive
2) Fast Processor
3) Lots of Ram
4) Loaded with extras
5) Vista Home Premium
6) Good looking case for HP
7) Sounds Great

Cons: 1) Hard drive makes saw-like noises
2) AMD (love the speed, hate the instability)
3) Ram is bottom-tier and fills up quickly
4) Extras = Bloatware
5) Vista Home Premium
6) Case is small and the HP proprietary Power Supply is woefully under equipped to run any reasonable Video Card.
7) No Cons on the Sound - It is really good

Other Thoughts: I had been looking for a replacement for my self-built machine for months and ended up buying this. Computer-wise, the problem was I could have either bought a loaded Hyundai or a bare-bones Lexus. This machine is definitely the loaded Hyundai of computers. I couldn't install a single upgrade from my previous computer because of power issues and the I/O devices wreak of 'cheap' (for a minute I contemplated taking the mobo and processor out and putting it into my old case but decided against it).
Although this machine is not very scalable I do believe it will last me a few years and will be able to take a Windows 7 upgrade this fall with no issues. This should be the machine you get to get your kids or yourself through school.

Rating + 1 Not Very Satisfied

Pros: Great price, wonderful speed, ample ram and hard drive. Well functioning graphics card. Good quality dvd player. TV tuner with recorder. I highly suggest buying a cheap, but valid extended warranty with all HP and Compaq computers.

Cons: TV tuner only works with prebuilt software. Computer crashed instant I used my other tv tuner software. Had to reinstall operating system. Graphics card failed after five months of ownership. Ordered replacement from manufacturer. Had to uninstall a ton of unnecessary preinstalled promoted and trial software. Had to disable many features of vista that were memory hogs. They slowed the computer down.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend buying HP or Compaq computers. Each one my family has owned has had to be sent back in for service at least twice within the year of purchase. You can't tell me that this is coincidence because my family has never had a HP or Compaq computer properly run. And the majority of us has a high understanding of computers.

My HP Pavilion Elite is a m9425f PC. It worked great for about five months then the video card failed. Had to order a replacement from the manufacturer. I also had a couple other minor problems. But the support was helpful. My brother has a high quality HP laptop. After four months the monitor failed and he had to get a replacement. My Compaq laptop kept having various problems and had to be sent in for service numerous times. And my mom's Compaq had to be replaced because the monitor began to fail.

After my HP Pavilion Elite get's out of date, I am never purchasing another HP or Compaq computer.

Rating + 5 Great machine!

Pros: Truckloads of RAM, Big fast HD (WD no less!), fast quad-core CPU, plenty of ports, two Media Drive bays (one big, one little), PCI Express slot for video upgrade, runs like a top, up and running in minutes without any hassles,

Cons: Bloatware to remove (but not nearly as much as other machines I've purchased), HP Advisor (which I turned off as unneeded but may be useful to less knowledgeable), nerfed BIOS (expected in a mass-market PC but still annoying), 7 GB RAM (instead of 6 or 8 GB - I don't get that at all), installing additional drives can be a pain because of cabling

Other Thoughts: I bought this PC a few days ago when my last PC died, and I couldn't be happier. This is my second HP PC, and I hope it lasts four years like my last one (Compaq Presario sr1750nx). I had it all put together in minutes and was reinstalling apps without a hitch. The only issues I've experienced are Vista issues which are not a PC problem but an OS problem. If they sold this PC with WinXP x64 SP3, it would be perfect. Bloatware that comes with this PC is mercifully limited and quick and easy to remove. Once I added my old NVidia 8600GT card to this PC, it was perfect. I also added my old DVD burner from my last PC, but it took a while to get crammed in because of all the cabling jumbled and tied in the middle fo the case (Voodoo Computer it's not). To conclude, you'll like this PC out of the box if you're not a gamer. If you are, grab a card while you're here to put in it and you'll be fine.

Rating + 2 Lackluster?

Pros: OK. I'm living with a good friend of mine who isn'
t exactly what you'd call computer savvy. I had offered to build him a system from the egg, and he refused. To my frustration, he bought this particular machine at a local retailer. I've been using it out of necessity and I figure it deserves at least one review here. Well, let me start off by saying that this thing is a web-browsing beast. It can handle internet explorer all day long like a champ. That 7GB of RAM really loads up the pages quickly.

Cons: ...And speaking of loaded up; it comes installed with all the typical retail PC bloatware. That's were it gets annoying. Add to that the fact that this system is using onboard video and you can see where it falls short. If you plan on doing anything other than a few web-based games here and there look elsewhere for your next PC. You could always drop in a video card, but honestly, if you're that inclined, just build a new system yourself that will run circles around this for a fraction of the price.

Other Thoughts: Overall...this system is not for me, or anyone else who has ever built their own system, and that's exactly why it's at my friends house and not mine.
