Linux web browser
Pros: I bought this to use in the family room for convenient web browsing. It serves this purpose well. It's small, quiet and cheap. I installed Ubuntu without any problems (Note, I am using the ethernet card, not the wireless card, which I've have trouble with under Linux).
Cons: I don't understand how you're supposed to use the vertical cd tray. I actually tipped the computer over to put in a cd.

NEVER will buy HP
Pros: COMPAQ used to be a good company
Cons: I will never buy HP product . I bought this Compaq with MSI mother board inside . I died in 2 months . Now second week I am dealing with HP customer support - they simply do not service their product . For 2 weeks they are "trying" to send me an empty box - in which I will return the faulty product . SO far no luck for 2 weeks - hopefully it will take them less than a year to fix their product ( The Warranty is a year : if you ask me they do not have it any way ) .

Sweet
Pros: Small, cheap, XP and runs like a champ right out of the box.
Cons: None for me and my use for business apps that need XP.

Plenty Good!!
Pros: I was really surprised as to how small this machine is, but it's no slouch. It's plenty good for the basics especially when loaded with XP or a nice favor of Linux such as Linux Mint. Throw in a 2 GB stick of memory for best performance!!
Cons: None. But to all those amateurs who are so disappointed because it doesn't play all your silly games, just remember what it was originally built for -- It was built to be only a simple, reliable machine with a small footprint.
Other Thoughts: I just purchased low-profile NIC so that I can configure it along with the machine's onboard NIC as a high-performance firewall -- using Linux, of course!

Really impressed
Pros: Bought it for my in-laws who do will use it for web browsing, web-cams, photos from their digital camera, printing directions, etc.
I'm impressed. It's cute, quiet, definitely fast enough for them, and was easy to set up. It wakes up extremely quickly from the sleep mode.
I seriously considered an EEE pc instead, but I'm glad I went with this one instead. It has a DVD drive, so they can look at photo cds and I can install software, and I looked at the different versions for the Atom processor. This one has hyperthreading, and many of the EEE pc ones did not (which I think will be good for the anti-virus programs).
Cons: Supplied keyboard is uselessly small (no number pad).
2 rear USB ports is not really enough. Fortunately they had a USB hub so we can run both the printer, mouse, keyboard, and webcam out of the back, to leave the front slots available for the digital camera.
Other Thoughts: There is no parallel port to connect their old printer to. This isn't really the machine's fault, but you might want to be aware of it if you need to support an old printer. Easily fixed with a USB->Parallel adaptor.

i call it a bargain, the best i've ever had
Pros: Small footprint, ultra-quiet, useful features. The XP platform is a bonus IMO.
Cons: So far, the only odd thing I've noticed is that it refuses to stay in Standby. That may be a anti-virus issue though. The keyboard and mouse are a bit chintzy, but totally useable. The PC tower's build is top drawer.

USB Problems on this machine
Pros: Small size.
Cons: It appears, through testing along side another Windows XP SP3 machine, that the machine I received had significant USB problems. There are 4 USB ports, 2 on front, 2 on back. It appears that the 2 ports on the back only work at USB 1.0 speed and only pick up devices about half the time. The 2 ports on the front seemed to be at USB 2 speed but, again, only recognized devices about half the time. The machine I tested along side picked up every USB device connected, every time without failure. Another note is the hardware boot up time. Real sloooooooooow. 2 to 4 minutes before the Windows startup screen appears. I wouldn't recommend this machine if you have USB connectivety requirements.

Cutest little thing.
Pros: Very small footprint. Fairly fast. You can remove the dialup modem and now you have a PCI express mine to up grade with. Very quiet. Cute as a button. Perfect for a small office or internet use. A CPA will be using this. He needed XP on it. Easy to work on. Not much bloatware.
Cons: Not much room for upgrades. I think they could have put 1 more ram slot in there. Small keyboard will not be used.
Other Thoughts: I did remove the 1 gig stick of ram and replaced it with a 2 gigger. Well worth the money. I may get me one.

Good, simple netbox
Pros: Small, quiet, has XP not Vista.
4 USB ports and memory card reader.
Cons: Single core Intel Atom. While this computer runs just fine, I wonder how long this box will be able to keep up with web page technology (i.e. embedded video and sound). Norton software would not let me register product.
Other Thoughts: Bought this for grandparents. Works great for their limited use. They use dial-up due to living in remote location with no high-speed providers. Set up using high-speed at my house. Seems to surf the net and download updates as well as any basic machine. I would definitely recommend this box for the use it is in. If any additional programs are used that are more processor intensive, I would recommend getting something a little more powerful (or building a basic setup with a dual core processor for about $50 more than this box).

one strange quirk
Pros: small footprint, generally fairly quiet (the fan is always spinning, albeit at a low rate), DVD multi drive works great, 4 USB ports, audio sounds GREAT (no internal interference--hissing, popping, etc.--with headphones on at high volume), quick startup
Cons: The strange quirk: this PC will not shut down (hangs at "Windows is shutting down" screen) unless I manually stop the card reader, which shows up in the system tray as a usb device. This is quite simple to do, but I wonder what someone would do who didn't know to do this. As a side note, I tried disabling the card reader altogether (personally not going to use it), but the PC still hung on shut down. You need to manually do it every time you shut down from the system tray.
Also, the mouse it came with had a sticky left click button, but it was too small for my liking anyway, so I am fine with using a different mouse.
Other Thoughts: This PC does struggle to decode 720p video (you might get away with it if the bitrate is really low).
All in all, a good deal, but I wonder what is up with the shut down issue. An XP bug? Something wrong with the card reader hardware itself? Who knows. I wonder if others have the same issue.

Great Buy!!! Small, quiet, and fast!
Pros: Super quiet, incredibly small, I set it up on my desk next to the monitor and I can hear all but the very quiet whisper of its fan.
It comes with Windows XP, a major PLUS for a computer of this size. XP is very stable and much less demanding of resources than Vista. This factor alone (OK, together with the unbeatable price) was one of the major reasons why I bought this computer.
The DVD burner with Lightscribe is great for creating media and for backups. It has 2 USB ports, microphone input and headphone output, plus a multi-media card reader in the front, so once you connect the keyboard, mouse and monitor to the back chances are you won't ever need to access the back again.
Cons: Because it is so small, access to the inside to do upgrades is tricky.
It is a pitty that it comes with only 1GB RAM when it supports 2GB (2GBx1 240-pin DDR2 533 PC2-4200). Nevertheless, I have not seen any noticeable slowdowns when running multiple MS Office applications or when accessing video-heavy internet sites.
Other Thoughts: It comes with an Integrated 10/100 Base-T networking interface, which for me was not useful as my house is not wired for internet. When searching for a wireless adapter for this computer, I first thought of replacing the modem card with a PCI-Express adapter from D-Link (Newegg Item # N82E16833127218), but I was not sure it would fit properly, so I opted for a USB adapter (I chose Encore's ENUWI-N, Newegg Item #N82E16833180053) which is working just fine.

Simple
Pros: With some hard core benchmarking this thing exceeded my expectations. Could be used as a decent media center. Fast, quiet and easy set up.
Cons: Expansion would be nice but for a simple internet user its fast enough.
Other Thoughts: Will run Quake III, Unreal Tournament, Golf ? easily. Lightscribe is always nice

Small, Attractive, Quick
Pros: Bought this PC for a friend who need a PC that takes up a small amount of place. This Compaq worked out perfect. This system perfect for Internet, Email, Managing Music, and Managing your Phone software.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Perfect price. Windows XP. Friendly setup.

solid web/text/application PC
Pros: small in every way. It comes with a DVD drive and XP Home views the Atom 230 as a dual core. It is very quite in comparison to older PCs that are around my office.
Cons: It only has a single slot for DIMM Memory. I upgraded it to 2 Gig DIMM and that is all you can go, which is fine for the use.
Other Thoughts: This a solid solution for anyone that is looking for a PC replacement when all your doing is running Browser/Office/Applications and not gaming or any application that takes a lot of CPU cycles.

Don't let the size fool you
Pros: It's super compact and fits on my desktop. It's relatively fast for anyone who is looking for a machine for documents, photos, e-mails, and web surfing (and I'm sure more). It's quiet (for the most part) and has an external power supply. Plus, it comes with XP, so there's no need to bother wih a Vista machine. It also comes preloaded with very little extra software, so it's pretty much ready to use out of the box. Overall, I love it and plan to install a couple games.
Cons: There isn't a lot of room to maneuver inside the unit and no place to add another drive bay. The other thing is that the fan will kick on for a few seconds really really high and then drop back down to normal speed. I assume that has something to do with the external power supply or because it's a mini computer. This kind of messes up me trying to use a program like SpeedFan. Not really a con, but the keyboard that comes with it is built like a laptop keyboard - it's small, compact, and doesn't have a 10-key on the side. It also doesn't come with a boot disc or anything, which is someting HP/Compaq is known for.
Other Thoughts: NewEgg charges the same price as Compaq's website, but NewEgg charges about half the price for 3-day UPS shipping, which is awesome.

Compaq- SO SMALL!
Pros: I LOVE IT! It's quite spiffy with 1gb of ram, 160gb hd, an OPTICAL DRIVE! ( that was a biggy) and a 1.6ghz atom processor. I did order a wireless USB adaptor so I can recieve internet in my room. I was very aprehensive about buying this because of the small specs... BUT ITS NOT THAT SLOW. Its not top of the line but for 269 and how small it is mine as well buy it. My options were the everex GPC or the Asus box. I liked both but, the asus didnt have an optical drive which ya kinda need and the everex was to big for what i needed. I also have a 2gb laptop memory stick comming in tommorow, should make it a little fast. Overall, this is a spiffy, snappy, quiet, attractive computer under 300 !
Cons: None really, whats not to like.... AND there isnt a whole bunch of stuff pre- loaded either.
Other Thoughts: Basically a netbook in a pc... NETTOP! ahhh haa! :D

Pros: First off, this is probably the tiniest tower i have ever seen. I ordered this for my neighbor because they needed a simple PC and they already had a monitor and stuff. I received it, opened it up and started downloading all the millions of windows updates...and this machine seems pretty good. Especially for what she would need it for (simple email and web browsing)
Cons: None really. Its slow compared to what we see now a days but that's okay for what she needs this for.
Other Thoughts: I ordered late Monday night and received it early Wednesday morning...that's crazy!
