Pretty good for the price
Pros: I was going to build my own but this unit has more bang for the buck and I didn't have to assemble it and install everything. Seems fast and efficient for office use which is what I bought it for.
Cons: My first unit died within 24 hours. Gateway was a pain to work with, but Newegg replaced in a fair amount of time. That unit had a video issue probably could have been fixed with a video card. If I had owned it more than a day, I may have tried that.
Other Thoughts: Newegg is the best, I really appreciate their service.

Pros: had this computer for about two months now and i'm pretty pleased, great to buy if ur on budget, as was i, most of the game's i've played ran with a good amount if fps versus graphix, but i'd suggest u switch out the psu and get anot gpu card
Cons: not so great a power supply or gpu, but it's value for wat u pay for
Other Thoughts: :D

not too bad for the money!
Pros: The base system, while nothing to write home about, isn't too shabby at all. For common everyday work, it will carry the mail.
The front headphone and mic jacks follow the industry standard front panel hookup, so it just plugged right into the ExtremeGamer sound card that I got at a famous online auction site (the name was censored) for $30.
The built-in soundcard is okay, but to play games you'd need to do what I did above.
Stock system is just begging to be modded.
Cons: I hate Vista. And the fact that it is the 64-bit version makes it just that more difficult to swallow.
The keyboard is really cramped and the CapsLock is full sized, so I always hit it by accident.
The built-in video is not viable to play today's games.
No HDD light??? Inexcusable!
300W power supply will need to be replaced if doing a makeover.
Other Thoughts: Usually I just build my own computers but my wife wanted a mid-performance gaming machine because she was envious of all the fun I was having playing L4D online. I admit I was lazy, so I just went shopping and found a rig I could live with.
I'd find it hard to recommend for gaming, but this isn't the audience it was targeted for. As an econo-buy, this is a standout computer!

Pros: I normally just build my own computers but since my grandma needed a new one I figured I would just by a prebuilt one. I went with this one because it has great spec for the price and I have had really good experiences with Gateway computers in the past. I have an nine year old Gateway that I use for a home server with a Pentium 4 1.70Ghz in it and its still running strong for its age, but I take great care of it. Anyway So far this computer performs awesome. It was a huge improvement over the old one. I would recommend it.
Cons: None so far.

Vista Boot Error and BBuy SUCKS!!!
Pros: It was awesome till I kept getting blue screens when I booted the pc.
Cons: GATEWAY TECH SUPPORT!!! I was sent 2 recovery disks and when I got them the instructions asked, "PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK". They had NOT sent me the system disk so its been 2 weeks since I have been able to enjoy my new pc.
Other Thoughts: GO DELL OR HP!!!!!!

Awesome Budget system
Pros: I purchased this system from BBuy because at the time they were running a packaged deal PC(509.99)+19"WS Gateway Monitor(119.99)+Canon All-In-One Printer(79.99) for 599.99. Since purchase back in december I have had no faults with the system. I quickly picked up a HIS IceQ Turbo 1gig 4670 video card to put in it. I was able to run almost every game i play on max graphics at 70-100 FPS.
Cons: 300W power supply, and only 1 PCI-E x16 slot. That and it being a pre-built system is came loaded with bloat-ware so i had to load my own copy of vista ultimate x64 on it.
Other Thoughts: This system for me is no longer as I turned it into a project PC, first switching out the 1.8ghz Phenom for a 3.0ghz Phenom II socket AM2+, then i added 2 extra drives(500g 7200 SATA, and a WD Raptor 300g). After that I put in a 750w power supply. Following all this i replaced the motherboard for a Crossfire capable board and added a 2nd 1gig 4670. My final upgrade will be changing the ram to 8g 1033mhz ram.

Vista 64 error
Pros: None! A new computer should work!!
Cons: Right out of the box...we recevied a Windows cannot complete the installation error! Now I'm waiting 3 to 8 business days for recovery disks. Argh.
Other Thoughts: How disappointing this is! I'll never buy another Gateway that's for sure!

Great machine for the price!
Pros: Great PC for the price IMHO. Quad-Core. For integrated graphics it performs well (although I stuck in a new graphics card; 512mb ATI HD 4830). Can definitely be a budget gamers rig when you slap in a new Graphics Card and a new power supply.
Cons: Cheap Power Supply with only 300w.
Other Thoughts: I spent at least a month searching for the right computer for my budget. Came across this rig and found the price to be perfect for what you get.
I tried some games with the integrated graphics card while waiting for my HD 4830 to get here and I was surprised how well it did. However with the new graphics card; I got a much needed boost. You will need to upgrade the power supply though if you want to put in a new video card, only comes with a 300w power supply. I stuck in a 450w Corsair power supply.
I run Oblivion on Ultra High settings at 1440 x 900 resolution (although I had some jittering but turned off V. Sync and that solved the problem). Vanguard: Saga of Heroes on highish settings. Crysis on High.
Had an issue with a BSOD due to vista trying to install drivers for the integrated graphics while I had my new graphics card running. Disabling the integrated graphics in bios solved the problem (I assumed it would do that automatically) and has been running great ever since

Computer is great...
Pros: The thing is quiet, the built in chipset is alot better than I expected (though I may upgrade it soon) and the so far everything works without a problem, it can run any of my current games without a problem. That includes Empire total war, frames do drop though, occasionally during.
Cons: Not many, I had read somewhere someone having an issue with their mobo on this computer and honestly I bet that ...person... (to use nice words) was overclocking and being in general just a huge dolt with his computer and I really don't think you should take people like that seriously.
Oh yeah and the PSU is very low wattage, upgrade that if you can.
Other Thoughts: Going to upgrade the PSU, and grafx card.
It's a great deal though.

Can't say much good
Pros: Didn't get to use it long enough before failure to be impressed by anything.
Cons: Motherboard failed after 13 days, TERRIBLE customer support, some of the worst I have ever experienced.
Other Thoughts: Purchased and installed this computer on 2/22/09. On 3/9/09 the computer would not boot. A call to customer support indicated the motherboard had failed. I shipped to the repair facility that evening via FedEx.
It has been three weeks, and the repair part is still on back order. There is no indication on when it will be available. I have asked about options from a Level 2 tech, and was told that my computer will be fixed when it is fixed, and there are NO OPTIONS! "If it takes 6 months or a year, then it takes 6 months or a year."
Locoing at other review sites with multiple reviews on this machine, looks like the initial failure rate is running at about 1 out of 10 machines, far too high.
At this point, I have no confidence in getting this computer back with any hope of it working long term. I'll never purchase another Gateway product again.

Pros: Fast, quiet (mostly), no problems.
Cons: Sometimes the DVD drive is very loud, but the noise doesn't last long.
Other Thoughts: I despise Vista, and I really think Microsoft needs to up the ante and cut the junk. This computer works fine and everything, but Vista confuses me. It's not as nice as XP because XP was easy to navigate and didn't have all this aesthetic junk. Sorry... just had to vent about that. Love this machine though.

Good starting point
Pros: This Gateway comes with a quad-core CPU which, although it's just 1.8 GHz still performs well. The 4GB of RAM is also a nice touch as it helps Vista run much better. The Integrated ATI Graphics are rather surprising, I got 45 FPS in Company of Heroes on medium and 35-45 on World in Conflict on low. Also, the Orange Box runs everything on max with flawless FPS. This computer also has great room for expansion inside and plenty of room to add more HDDs or maybe a GPU.
Cons: Comes with a weak 300W PSU. The 9150e that is in it has a pretty low clock. Case is a little small.
Other Thoughts: I plan to upgrade the CPU to a Phenom 9500 and the add an 4670 to up graphics performance. For the price it isn't bad, and offers decent gaming with 2-3 year old games.

Pros: Any looking for a upgrade from an old computer or just something cheap. This is a great computer for everyday stuff.
I looked everywhere and the reviewed were kinda mixed but almost every stated this is not a gamers computer, and its not. Im not a gamer but watching video, convert, encoding and converting audio. Is what this computer does great.
One of the selling points for me was the ATI Radeon HD 3200 because you can watch streaming HD video with no problems. With the quad core cpu I can encode video pretty quickly(Alot faster than the 2.0ghz Celeron I was using)
Cons: I guess it could be faster but I dont think I would notice. I still havnt got 100% cpu usage yet. The harddrive is quickly filling up. I see a 1TB being added soon.
Other Thoughts: I dont see why you would be buying this if your looking for a gaming computer anyway.
The Sims 2 All Exp and Addons played fine with max setting. I tried the Call of Duty :Modern Warfare demo. I did have go to 800x600 with some setting set to med to play with good frame rates.

Biggest bang for the buck you'll ever get in desktops
Pros: price, very easy setup, powerful quad core cpu gives speedy operation, Vista is improved - 64 bit, plenty core memory, big HD, additional HD space in case, upgradable with ATI 4830 for great video performance.
Cons: onboard video chipset, the ATI HD3200, ok but not for gamers.
Other Thoughts: The software setup on this DX-4200 Phenom X4 was the easiest I have ever encountered. Vista does practically everything for you (as it should, of course!) I think these Gateway desktops are a tremendous bargain, well made, well thought out.
Also important is the quality of Gateway support: the one question with my previous model was handled via a chat session with a tech who knew what he was talking about and was very professional.
Gateway has software bundled with this called "Big Fix" which analyses your system and finds solutions to problems you didn't even know you had.
The Vista SP1 which it ships with has been a pleasant experience. It's best to discount all the dissing it gets and just see how well it works in practice. There is a learning curve if you are coming from XP, but it is worth getting to know. I like it. NewEgg's shipping to near Boston from New Jersey took only a day, as usual, at the slowest service rate.

Worth the $
Pros: Great deal for a PC. I stuck a 4670 (thanks for the timely delivery Newegg!)in it & it runs perfect with no upgrade to the PSU. Well worth the five hun & 4 bucks spent at best buy.
Cons: if you want a better graphics card youll prolly have to get a better PSU too.
Other Thoughts: the 4670 runs WOW & oblivion great, not maxed but plenty good enough, and all for 584 bones, not bad at all.

Gateway DX
Pros: Very good machine for the money. I can run crysis on high with the 4830 i added to this, i also upgraded the PSU to a 500watt antec. so for about 650 I can run any game on the market at very nice settings.
Cons: The PSU and the integrated graphics.
Other Thoughts: Nice big case.
