Pros: This TV is beautiful. Amazing colors once you adjust them properly. It's not 120hz like the newer models but it costs around $500 less. I almost wish I'd got the 120hz model but most of the time I don't even notice any ghosting so all-in-all it was worth it. Has tons of connections!

Cons: Like most have said the speakers are worthless but I have mine hooked up to a stereo system anyway.

Pros: Picture quality is amazing, I used TweakTV.com for my settings. The swivel base is a nice feature. Great number of inputs. SD TV looks good also.

Cons: Sound, but that's easily fixed with surround sound

Pros: Great picture quality, Lots of options and inputs, easy set-up, You can turn the little "Your TV is on" ligt to be off or on to say your tv is in "standby" but It wont get in the way of yor viewing. Decent remote. Headphone jack for private listening. SRS Tru-surround XT built in. Blu-rays look amazing on this. Excellent color right out of the box. Many color modes, "Movie" for a high dynamic range, "Game" for bright vivid color, and several other, or you can make your own. Switch between modes is a remote click away. As an experiment I hooked a composite NTSC signal to it, to see how it looked.... Its looked good. 30,000:1 Contrast makes even the most subtle detail viewable. Others sets may be as low as 2000:1 (whats the point in having a big screen if the details are washed out in dad contrast?) Before choosing a big flat screen, make sure you check the contrast. (your contrast is the number of levels between full black and full white)

Cons: The button to change the source is rather small on the remote, however, the remote does have a light-up feature, so this should not be a problem for a dark environment. Built in speakers are rather tinny like most large TV's. Many features are not gone into in detail in the manual, so you just have to figure out what they do on your own (if your feel the need to play with the settings)

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this TV. Its has a decent price, performance, inputs and features. The remote is great except for a couple of minor exceptions. (the change source button as I mentioned is in an odd place)

Pros: As much as I love newegg and think of it as a #1 place to buy electronics local competititor has that TV for $1299 and it is a big store chain.

Also purchased a samsung blue ray player BD-P1600 as i was thinking of switching to netflix and using the "stream movies to your blue ray player" feature or whatever you might call it but the number of movies that you can watch is limited so i'll stay with blockbuster plan for now. didn't like the player thought -long load times, you have to play movie from the beginning every time you hit menu or change some options while already playing a movie.
i'm testing sony player right now-so far so good.


I won't write a long review as I own this tv for about 2 weeks now. spent a lont of times researching, reading other ppl's reviews. I like it so far.

Cons: -have Samsung remote controls -they look like a toy

Pros: I'm very impressed with this TV. Used the recommended settings for picture from the AVS forum and the picture is nothing short of amazing. Really deep blacks were the real standout. Very easy to set up and configure. Nice elegant design too. Used the sound recommendations posted on the web and it improved the sound 100%.

Overall I couldn't be happier, it's more TV than I'll ever need at an awesome price. Thanks NewEgg!

Cons: Could use a couple more HDMI inputs.

Pros: Picture quality is great. Can use as a huge computer monitor. I have tried DVD, Wii, PC, Cable TV and works all great.

Cons: The remote control response is kind of slow.

Pros: great tv. really happy i made this choice in buying this tv. i was going to buy the 650 series but this one hits the spot. nice screen size for my ps3 and xbox360. the hd looks stellar.

Cons: i had to deal with the shippers because they "lost" my package. one egg for that. i dunno how you can lose a 52" tv in a box thats big as well.

Other Thoughts: the sound is okay all you gotta do is turn it up. i have it sitting in the corner so the sound bounces off the walls instead of drowning out if there was no walls behind it.

Pros: Great price. Super fast delivery. Received it in Rockland County, NY in less than a week after order. Shipping company was great. They even offered to unpack and remove the packaging. Very satisfied customer. Picture quality doesn't seem as clear as my 720p Vizio plasma from close up. Far away, definitely looks very sharp. There may be a minimum viewing distance at play here between an LCD and a plasma. Sound is horrible but sufficient. An AV receiver is definitely a must if you want better sound.

Cons: built in sound system horrible. Speakers are aimed down from under the screen.

Rating + 5 Giant Perfection for Gaming/Movies/TV


Pros: Incredible picture and incredible size! I used to have a 50" Dell Plasma and then I traded that for a 42" Sony Grand Wega 3LCD. Going from that to this, it just dwarfed my 42" completely. Going from the Sony, I never really noticed how grey the colors looked and how blacks just seemed dark grey until I got this TV. However, this set just looks really good. I never thought Blu-rays would look better on a 1080p over a 720p but it really made the difference. I feel like I'm watching a movie in the theater again. Cable TV, generic analog, looks decent too. I have not noticed any pixelation as the store displays always show on this set. My wife, who thought the set was going to look like the one at Best Buy, was equally impressed with the quality.

Cons: Sound is actually pretty bad but not as bad as some say. It sounds a little muffled unless you tweak them. However, they're never going to sound "great". They don't sad bad at all watching TV but when you want to listen to music or play a game with bass, they're going to really suck. I watched Pirates of the Carribean on Blu-ray and it sounded okay.

Other Thoughts: I used a few different settings from AVS forums (just Google "lnxxa550 calibration settings".. should be the first link). Depending on your factory defaults, you may want to just mess around with a few. I had to search for my firmware number (1006) and find settings from there. For me, I used a guy named "clicqt" (or something similar to that) and found one he had for that firmware. I had to make minor adjustments for green because there was a green tint to his default settings. Now the set looks more amazing than normal.

Pros: Where to begin....

- GIGANTIC. I had no idea what I was getting into when I bought this. Originally I was going to get a 42 or 46 inch, but I found this one on sale for the same price so I figured why not! If you are buying it at a store (as I did, I feel like I backstabbed newegg!) you need an SUV or truck, no way a car can fit this.

- Samsung = Top of the line brand name. This TV looks much better than other brands, especially when in store side by side. Registering the product is nice and easy.

-Lots of inputs, easy to use.

-Picture quality is amazing of course! Bluray makes it look like i can reach out and poke the actors in the eyes. Games are incredibly detailed (MGS4, CoD4, WoW, KZ2, etc). No ghosting or anything. Also, planet earth is so clear my cat watches the animals!

-No dead pixels or anomalies, which is surprising after having to practically drag this thing up 3 flights of stairs! (did I mention this TV is gigantic?!)

-not terribly heavy, swivel stand.

Cons: - built in sound pretty weak. It is fine for normal TV, but you definetallly need a sound system for movies/games.

- PIP function lacking. I was very excited to use it the other day because I wanted to browse the web but also watch tv. Turns out the only signal that you can use as the PIP is cable?? Maybe I am stupid but I don't see any way to make anything but the coax connection go to PIP.

- Had some minor issues with a computer hooked up to it. With a dvi to hdmi cable, most applications (including the desktop) will be scaled beyond the screen at 1920x1080 resolution. Easy fix for the desktop, but games can have issues if they don't support custom resolutions. Had to change WoW to 1850x1000 or something to fit it on the screen.

- Could possibly be TOO BIG?!? I have a relatively small living room, and it sometimes does feel like I am sitting too close, even though I am as far away as possible.

Other Thoughts: This is an amazing TV that no one could be dissappointed with. You will get over the 700 dollar price tag for 120hz, because this is simply the best deal on a large, high class lcd. Samsung is a great brand, I feel like I have invested in a tv that will last at least 15 years...but then again who knows what kinds of TVs we will have by then!

While I didn't purchase this from newegg (wanted it that day and store surprisingly had a lower price), Newegg is by far the best place to buy stuff! Check out the neweggmall!

Rating + 5 Awesome TV


Pros: Due to advances in technology, 60hz is "old" and now 120hz LCD tv's are the new "cutting edge" thing to have. This is great if you're like me and don't mind having less than brand-new technology at a great savings! This TV has a wide range of inputs, allowing for everything from video game systems to PCs to DVD players, surround sound, DVRs, VCRs and more! One thing I hated about older TVs was the lack of input types, and ammount of each type. Some of us DO own more than 1 thing that uses a Component connection! The display on this TV is great. Samsung does an awesome job with their customer service and support. They truly stand behind their products which is why I keep coming back to them. Also the menus on this TV are very easy to follow, they make sense. It took me about 5 minutes to get this TV setup and running.

Cons: I felt the base could have been shorter, to help reduce side-to-side wobble when trying to get in behind it. The base looks a little skinny at the top for such a BIG tv. But that really isnt much of a Con.

Other Thoughts: Overall, if you want a HD LCD TV, this would be the one to get if you don't want to spend $2,000+ for a cutting-edge tv. The picture is still awesome and I really couldn't be happier.

Pros: This TV is most excellent. It is perfect for gaming(Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii). The picture is one of the best I've seen for the price. I highly recommend this TV.

Cons: The sound is okay. If you are looking for high quality sound on a TV, look elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: I was a little uneasy about buying a TV online, but my experience with Newegg's process cleared it. If I buy a TV again, it will be with Newegg.

Pros: The TV is much bigger than I expected. I was really happy to see ZERO dead pixels as well. Tons of picture settings to get just the right picture for a particular occasion. Love the "Just Scan" setting combined with the "Cinema" setting for watching movies. For HBO boxing, I go "16:9" and "Sports" settings. TV is beautiful, it swivels very easily, the stand is sturdy, and it fits perfectly on my TV stand.

Cons: None. Just make sure you sit at least 7 or 8 feet away from the TV minimum, otherwise you will see some slight blurriness simply from being too close. Remember, it's a 52" TV....it's huge.

Other Thoughts: Moved up from a 32" 1080i Samsung. I'm completely thrilled with this new TV. It looks absolutely amazing.

Pros: I was fortunate enought to not only grab this tv for $1299 but also received free white glove service. I can not believe how cheap it was to buy a 52" 1080p tv. Blu-ray looks amazing and I have tested it with golf/basketball/hockey and the colors are brilliant. I can not wait for baseball season. Also, games look great.You would be crazy not to get this tv based on the price and quality of the picture. This tv is approximately 10 feet away from where we sit and it is the perfect size. Samsung does not dissappoint.

Cons: The only con that I can come up with is the base. It does swivel but it is very wobbley. I plan on mounting it but if you dont plan on mounting it then you make want to look at other tvs. But you can mount tv's yourself for very cheap.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a big tv and a crisp picture you are not going to find a better deal out there right now...

Rating + 5 Not a better TV out there


Pros: I debated over this or a 120hz, finally deciding that most (if not all) of my time is spent on the 360 (which only runs 60hz) and with no intention of buying a blu-ray (massive dislike for sony), the 60 hz is all i need. I am extremely happy with it. 1080P looks BREATHETAKING, and the LCD aspect makes it extremely crisp. Paying another couple hundred for such minute differences just isnt worth it, many of which you cant even notice unless side by side. Have not experienced any ghosting or other side effects with the 360, nor broadcast television (Though the DTV conversion SUCKS!). Not a single dead or stuck pixel Many people have said the speakers are terrible, I disagree. They aren't JL Audio W7's. They are television speakers. They sound exactly the same as all my other TVs have in the past.

Cons: Absolutely NONE with the television. I'm not sure what to think of the shipping company. They contract their delivery men, HIRE YOUR OWN, MORONS! But for free who can really complain. Arrived very punctual and damage free, though i was not a fan of how the ONE delivery man "manhandled" the TV off the truck, even after i INSISTED on helping him.

Pros: Sound leveling...no more screaming commercials
Picture quality in HD is unbelievable (I own 3 HD sets Sony, Samsung 40in, and this Samsung 52) this one is so clear in HD it does not compare to the other 2 sets. You can see dust in the air on HD programs...literally!

Cons: Cant think of any...well maybe that you have to have enough space to put this monster....really big screen not really a con though....

Other Thoughts: I got this with free shipping and really a great price at 1299.00....If the price was 300.00 more it is still worth every penny.

Pros: We got this TV at a $700 discount and FREE SHIPPING in March 2009. Shipping was super fast from LA CA to Maryland in about 4 days! TV/Box arrived in great shape.

Set up was easy and the picture is fantastic. Very adjustable to get it just right. Sound is supposedly poor but we never even checked it out because we hooked it right up to our new Pioneer home theater system (bought form Newegg as well with free shipping and another good discount, and sound is Awesome! When playing regular dvd's through a PS3 the upsampling is amazing and the quality superb. All in all....a great purchase from Newegg!!

Cons: Haven't discovered any yet.

Pros: This TV was an amazing deal. It was only $1300 after $800 off! Thanks NewEgg. My friend actually bought the same TV from Worst Buy and paid WAY about $600 more than me. I was amazed at how fast and hassle free the shipping was. It came from California to Seattle in less than 3 days. The shipping company called the day before and set up a time to deliver. They came and even brought it upstairs for me. The clarity is amazing. Blu Ray and DVDs looks amazing (especially with an upscale 1080p player). My TV blows my friends Hitachi and Sharp models right out of the water. The TV is second to none for gaming. I have an Xbox360 Elite and with the HDMI hook up it looks absolutely incredible. Blows my old 42" Hitachi out of the water.

Cons: The ONLY bad thing I have to say about this TV is the speakers. It doesn't really bother me since I have a 5.1 Samsung Surround System but I was appalled at how terrible these TV speakers are. It sounds like these speakers are inside aluminum cans.

Other Thoughts: Buy this TV! Probably the best deal out there!

Pros: This tv is amazing!Granted it is my 1st HDtv.So anything would be an improvement.But I have several friends who have some of the premier lcd's out there,and now they are jealous of me.Picture quality is incredible for a tv under $1500!!!Newegg...YOU ROCK!!!

Cons: The cabinet on the LN52650 is much nicer looking and the 120htz would have been nice,but after seeing how fake everything looks on the 120htz tv's,I couldn't justify the extra $400

Pros: This is one of the best 60hz lcd televisions avaliable and IMO the best value. I also recommend you Google search the model number and "calibration" to make this tv produce an even more amazing picture.

Cons: Sound. As mentioned it sounds like the speaker is inside a tin can. I run a nice surround system so the tv sound is turned off anyways. I highly recommend you get soundbar or a surround system with this tv.

Other Thoughts: I bought Item=N82E16882160065 from this site as the tv mount to put above my mantle. It's a high quality mount and only 49.99 right now from Newegg. The box says 50" but it works great with this 52" tv. I needed a mount that would fit my outlet inside since I pre-installed my outlet directly in the middle of where I planned my tv install.

Pros: Big size, full HD, lots of options for video so everyone can find the settings that look the best for them, picture quality out of the box was great. The design is well put together looks high quality compared to my last tv. this is the best tv i own.

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a 42" lcd in my room, it was a westinghouse and i am faar more impressed with the samsung tv, i have a sharp 52" lcd in my living room and i would rather have the samsung, i just dont like the auto brightness on the sharp it goes from dim on dark scenes to too bright on bright scenes but the samsung stays constant with everything. get surround sound if you dont like the tv speakers, havent used the speakers so i cant comment on them. This is my first tv i bought from newegg ive been buying from them for years im glad i chose newegg though compared to buying from my local worstbuy! ordered early tuesday morning and recieved thursday afternoon with the free shipping. Pros: Looks great, easy to use and easy to set up. Nice clear and crisp pictures. The 60Hz refresh rate is more then enough. BluRay movies looks amazing.

I ordered it on Monday morning, NewEgg had it delivered from LA to Rochester, NY by the next day afternoon. Incredible!

Cons: None really. This is one of the best LCD HDTVs on the market at present.

Other Thoughts: Was looking into Plasma's but they weigh too much, are not suitable for use with PCs (due to burn ins).
The digital signal we receive at present refreshes at 60Hz, so having a 120Hz TV that simply performs anti-aliasing/interpolation between frames seems a bit silly (considering the price difference). The refresh rate of the actual LCD is only better by 1ms, not something you'd notice normally.

Pros: Amazing picture quality, lots of customization options, deep blacks, nice bright colors, great size, blu-ray looks AMAZING, no tax to NYC and free shipping.

Other Thoughts: I am so in love with this TV. I originally bought the LN37A550 and I loved it, too. Samsung has amazing picture quality. But shortly after buying the 37", I started wishing I had gotten a bigger model. Well, I decided to take the plunge and got the 52". I sit about 9 feet from the screen and I was nervous that it might be too big. Well, it is not, at all. I am so glad I went with this size. It took a couple of days to adjust to it, but it is awesome. I use a home theater system so the sound from the TV is not an issue for me. The shipping was fantastic. It only took three business days. Two guys showed up within the quoted time frame. Brought it up two flights of stairs and set it down in my apartment. A really great transaction and I saved almost $400 over buying at the local big box store and would have had to get it home from there as well. Thanks, newegg!

Pros: This lcd is just amazing to look at.
With the blue ray and bose surround sound it is better than the theater. Amazing 1080p picture quality and with the 4 year warranty an amazing deal. Have yet to see the trailing found in inferior models. Samsung makes a properly good HDTV. This is my second HD Samsung.

Cons: Have yet to really find a problem.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a great tv, this is it.
The 52" is plenty big enough for anyone and has the best picture on the market.

Pros: Great picture and refresh. Initial picture problems due to bad coax from demark to ouside endpoint but after this was replaced the TVs picture, color (yes blacks look great too) and overall performance are great. Hooked it up with a MONSTER HDMI1000HD 6 ft. Ultra-High Speed HDMI Cable and the HD picture is stellar.

Cons: As all have previously mentioned, the sound is sub-par but only for those who know/can appreciate 5.1 or 7.1. Thos who have come from a projection TV or a TV with no surround sound, the TVs sound performance is not horrible.

Other Thoughts: New egg shipping ROCKS..........Got here in 3 days!

Rating + 4 Amazing TV, confusing shipping


Pros: The LCD itself is by far second to none. For the price it is a must buy! my Verizon fios in HD looks great. havent tried blu ray..since im waiting for the hopeful Playstation 3 price drop, but im sure it would look even better.

Cons: Heres where things get annoying. The shipping guys called and asked for when they should ship during the week. I told them this coming friday. The next day the tracking said it was coming the coming Tuesday. I called got it fixed. Then ON THAT FRIDAY, the tracking said t was arriving NEXT friday. I disputed.. then they said they will ship the next monday. I finally demanded for it to be delivered on the friday it was SUPPOSED to come and it came in two hours after the call.

Other Thoughts: TV is good. Shipping I had to to work harder than i had to for it to get here. -1 egg for that. Newegg should think about another shipper for this.

Pros: it's a huge upgrade from our 27" lcd. the picture on bluray is amazing and playing the ps3 is awesome.

Cons: the price dropped $100 and i just bought it last week. as stated before, the speakers are pretty bad, but i plan on getting some real speakers for this tv soon.

Other Thoughts: i was expecting it to take a week and a half to 2 to get to me. but i ordered it on a monday, and got it on thursday. newegg rocks!

Pros: The TV was beautiful. Hooked up right out of the box within 30 minutes.

AIT delivery was friendly and effective. They were ready to deliver earlier than expected but I asked them to slow it down to meet my schedule and they had no problem working with me.

Cons: The TV audio is weak and the Picture in Picture function only works for analog broadcasts. I have to ask...what is the point in that??? Everything is switching to digital soon. I think they just put PIP on there so they could slap it on the outside of the box. Also there appears to be no hot-swap button for the PIP function...you have to go into menu each time you want to change the PIP channel.

Other Thoughts: My parents had a 14 year old 48" rear projection. It was time to upgrade. Boy were they impressed!!!!

Rating + 5 How did I live with Standard Definition?


Pros: This HDTV is fantastic. It is bright, unlike those Plasmas that get darker when the screen turns white. Also, the contrast ration is simply stunning; the colors are very bright and vivid. Another unfathomable occurrence was that the factory settings were actually very nicely set. Little meddling with the picture settings was needed. Plenty of ports allow me to hook up my VCR through Component video, Blu-Ray through HDMI, HD Cable through Composite In, and Computer thorough the PC input.

Plus you get to control most Blu_ray players from the TV remote, which eliminates one more thing to mess with.

Cons: Only things:

Speakers - decent TV speakers, but i turned them off from the menu, since I have a 5.1 surround sound system.

Motion Blur - This is not very noticeable, but if you look at, say, a moving panoramic view of a skyscraper, the building's edges tend to "stutter." Not a lot in most places.

Other Thoughts: For this low price, this TV beats anything else out there. Believe me, I've looked...so many times!

If you feel this is too low end for you, move up the Samsung 6 series, you get 120mhz. Beyond that, it is not worth it to spend more money.

You will enjoy this TV. Movies look amazing on it. I just watched the Superbowl 2 nights ago, and that looked great. Anything form The Food Network, to Discovery HD Theater looks pristine.

Pros: No more trying to convert pc output to monitor with media center. Looks just like a regular computer monitor and acts like a regular computer monitor. Now I download blurays off the internet and play them and you would be amazed at the quality. Get tinkerbell from disney, kids will love it and the graphics are the most awesome I have ever seen. Like you could just step into the screen.

Cons: NO DVI, No HDMI to DVI adaptor. I havent bought one yet so not sure how much improvement it will make but it should have a dvi connector so I dont have to buy anything. It looks great with vga but should look better with dvi. Kids already broke the battery cover on the remote, buy a walmart remote for the kids for 5 bucks and keep the nice one for you. Keeps everyone happy.

Other Thoughts: 12 months no payment, 1500 bucks, who would believe. Playing downloaded bluray movies require a good media center computer. Serious graphic intensive but worth it. 28 gig movies, just download and watch then delete. I still dont have a bluray player I am waiting for the bluray burners and media to come down in price but still wont burn down the movies.

Pros: Amazing picture, high contrast ratio, awesome price(if you want to get ripped off, shop retail) + FREE shipping(AIT took 3 DAYS. Ordered it on a Monday, got it Wednesday!), HD channels look amazing, SD channels pretty good. Plenty of inputs. Single optical output is nice to have(All sources go in, only one goes out to the reciever), HD channel changing is fairly quick.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I googled the best custom settings for picture like many have already said. If you tweak the sound, it's not as bad as many say. Fine for watching normal TV now after tweaking.

Someone else complained about how the screen doesn't stretch on NON HD channels. You need to set this in your Cable Box settings.

I've watched a few movies and played some fast moving games (Ninja Gaiden 2, Rock Band) and don't notice any blurring with the 60hz refresh. I was going to spend the extra $ for the 120hz but I'm glad I didn't.

Make sure you get the $7 HDMI cables on Newegg. They are IDENTICLE in performance compaired to $50 monster cables in retail stores(Just read all the reviews).

Pros: Plenty of inputs, though be aware if you connect a DVI to HDMI cable for your PC, you need to use HDMI 1 to use analog sound, the other 2 HDMI channels expect digital sound via the HDMI port. Crystal clear picture with blu-ray, 1920x1080 DVI, even component inputs, brilliant color, can be very bright, lights up the whole room.

Cons: Backlight sometimes fails (twice in about a year). Unplug the TV for at least 1 hour, it resets. Built-in speakers are mediocre.

Other Thoughts: I bought it for probably about 50% more than it lists now, very happy with the purchase, it should last me another 8 or 9 years I expect. Just seems to be a very solidly built piece of equipment.

Cons: removing TV base is ANNOYING! I had to get another person & face TV screen towards ceiling, & shake it a bit for the 4 screws to fall out. This also happened on a Samsung 40" LCD TV I bought (LN40A550). I even had a magnetic screwdriver.

Other Thoughts: PC connection on rear of TV only connects older monitors; dunno why Samsung would cut corners like this.

Pros: Ordered Monday morning, received on Wednesday afternoon! In my case, no issues with AIT. Brought it in, unboxed it, checked for damage. As many have stated, great picture, poor sound, but at 52 inches you should have some type of sound system anyway. Had to go out and buy an upconverting DVD player as the HDTV channels looked fabulous compared to the DVD picture from my old DVD player. Just didn’t make sense to have such a nice TV and watch DVD’s in 480. Backlit remote is great as I watch TV in the evenings with little ambient light. Love the minimalist design of the surrounding bezel. Two to three hundred less than the local chain stores and no sales tax.

Cons: None to speak of.

Pros: Great Picture and worth every penny- especially at over $800 off.

Cons: AIT delivery.

First they call my office, but because it is a work number they don't bother to ask to speak with me, but rather hang up and put a trouble alert on their website tracking site (which sucks and went down three times in four days.) When I finally figured out what had happened I called the company and scheduled the delivery. Fine.

Then AIT sends one guy to deliver the product- he had a bad leg and he came without a handtruck or any equipment to move the TV. I had to help him carry the TV inside (it's not heavy, just bulky.) Very poor effort on AIT's part. I'd hate to see what I'd have thought of their $200 White Glove Service.

Other Thoughts: As always, Newegg was perfect.

Pros: Excellent black levels, smooth and easy to use menu. The case is beautiful. You can name your inputs so rather than remembering what's on "HDMI 1" you can set it to "GAME" or "CABLE" or "BLU-RAY". Excellent picture!

Cons: Audio is sub-par. I had a 32 inch AStar with better audio. The person buying a 52 inch flat panel TV probably has surround sound though, so it's not a real issue.

Pros: The picture does not disappoint! HD channel picture is excellent. DVD with upconvert to 1080p is very good over HDMI. Very bright image. Menus and remote are pretty easy to use. The side USB is great for .jpg slideshows.

Cons: Some HDTV channels missing. Disappointed with 4:3 "stretch" capabilities.

Other Thoughts: here are unscrambled HD channels on my standard cable (no HD-box required). I have a $300 Toshiba which pulls in the HD versions of local channels for the four major networks. With the $2K Samsung, I only get 2 of the 4 available network local channels in HD! Quite a disappointment...

Samsung lacks the excellent 4:3 stretch capabilities of some other brands. For example a 4:3 "letterbox" movie cannot be expanded vertically AND horizontally to fill the screen (just horizontally) Also there seems to be no 4:3 stretch mode with keeps the center of the screen at the proper aspect while stretch more at toward the edges.

Pros: Incredible picture, many options for adjusting, everything worked out of the box, PS3, Comp, HDTV all look great, tv exposed flaws in my eyeware, had to buy new glasses. Great remote, with a TV button, backlight with on/off, ergonomic. Annoying front light can be turned off. I hooked up my cable boxes coax out to the antenna, work around for only antenna input.

Cons: *Thinks hard* Extra inputs on left instead of right... no direct to source (HDMI, COMP, etc) buttons besides for TV. Doesn't come in green case... wait, that's not a con. That's all I got.

Other Thoughts: I could not be happier. This set is an incredible computer monitor with a DVI-HDMI cable. The previous reviews talking about the pic-in-pic being weak have not experimented. I mostly use the pip for watching tv while gaming or using checking the internet.
Blueray movies truly shine. Do not buy this series expecting studio quality sound from the speakers, they are weak and hollow - best used with a home theater system or a set of Logitech Z5500s.

Pros: The picture quality is great. The HD cable channels look sharp. There are alot of adjustments / settings that make it flexible for all types of viewing. No glaring problems in a room that has 2 tall windows (at least when sitting directly in front of it). Colors are vibrant. Black level is decent for a LCD TV. It is an all-around nice looking TV. There are a wide variety of input jacks (HDMI, component video, single analog video), however if you don't have alot of HDMI ready equipment, you can easily fill the input jacks. Keep this in mind if you have an older DVD player, VCR, Wii, or older game console. Viewing angle is much better than a DLP TV and is just as good if not better than a plasma TV. Not as sensitive to screen burn-in as the plasma TV's, although you still have to be mindful of it. No dead pixels when it arrived!!!!!!! That was my main concern when buying online. Newegg's price makes it a great deal. Also can't beat free shipping.

Cons: I watch too much TV now.

Other Thoughts: I can't wait to get a Blu-ray player to see it's full potential. I was very pleased that it was shipped on a pallet so it was not man-handled. It arrived in perfect condition. I also purchased the 4 year extended warranty since I am paranoid of dead pixels and any catastrophic failure.

Pros: Great Video quality. Standard def cable still looks fine, with HD content looking great. Xbox 360 hooked up via HDMI has great quality as well. The price is great for such a large and high-quality HDTV. Completely satisfied the TV and haven't had any issues with it.

Cons: Sound quality by itself started out kinda low, as its lacking bass. Calibrating the audio made a big difference. It does sound a little weird when standing beside the TV instead of in front of which, but then again, you don't watch it from the side. Also, energy saving settings seems to apply across all inputs, and can't be customized per input, which conflicted with differing calibrations I found.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend using AVSForum for calibrating both the audio and the video for the TV. Made a large difference for the sound in my opinion, and probably helped the picture quality as well. I've tweaked some of the settings to lower the brightness some for gaming, as it was too bright for the darker lighting in my room.

Pros: Picture quality and viewing angles are great. Looks great and modern even before turning it on.

Cons: If you are planning to use a wall mount, or any other mount like stand mount, be aware that the screws that it comes with are too short. I had to go to home depot and find the right screws to be able to attach this TV to my stand mount.

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from 46" Sceptre LCD TV. Huge difference in performance.
1) Awesome remote control.
2) Great contrast and very bright picture from both the TV cable box and computer applications and games.
3) Not sure about sound quality of the unit since I'm using a pair of Polk Audio bookshelf speakers and a sub woofer connected to a receiver.

Cons: The only bad thing is the sound. But if you were going to buy a nice tv then you have to get a nice surround sound system to go with it.

Pros: Very bright, rock-bottom price, looks snazzy.

Cons: Anemic speakers (you should be using a big 7.1 setup with this thing anyways...). does a poor job of optimizing color automatically for PC input (but hey, this is a TV that also happens to double as a totally rad monitor.)

Other Thoughts: If you're planning to connect this beast to a PC, a bit of advice: disable all the automatic picture enhancement/contrast enhancement junk - doing so helps alieveiate annoying highlighting around dark text appearing on light backgrounds. Took me a bit to realize what the problem was.

Pros: This TV has been great, I have not problems with it. The picture is great and has been really entertaining.

Cons: Towne & Fright in Louisville, KY is terrible. They have very poor communication, and the delievery guy was just going to drop the TV on the street and leave. Was not going to at least bring it to the door. They where suppose to bring it in the house, but they refused to do that. He stated he was not going to delievery the TV and I told him to call his boss. I beg newegg to never use this company. I have heard other people with the same problem from this company.

Cons: Unit arrvied on time, but when I unpacked it, there was no display at all. Menu would not activate, nothing. Sound worked fine.

Other Thoughts: I called Samsung to confirm what I thought, sure enough, dead unit. Contacted NewEgg for replacement and they were nice enough to arrange an advance replacement. However, after waiting a couple of days and not seeing a new order on my account, a second call to NewEgg shows product out of stock and they have cancelled my order and will issue a refund. Disappointing!

Pros: This TV replaced an Olivea 537H 37" LCD that I've used for 2 years as my main TV. The Samsung responds so much faster when changing channels and has much more functionality. Make sure that you have a large living room when buying such a big TV as this 52" lcd will show some ghosting when looking up close. The newer models with the 120Hz help alleviate this. Also, even though HD broadcasting is in 1080i some of the films, or content being broadcasted isnt and this shows up much more on the larger TV. I'd suggest to hold off and wait for prices to come down on the 120Hz LCDs. Newegg always a great place to buy from.

Cons: Free AIT shipping took almost 2 weeks. This is a good box but i should have waited for prices to come down on the 120Hz models.

Pros: Bright, clear picture. Easy setup. Low price and Newegg customer service. It's 52".

Cons: Not the tv's fault, but all channels aren't HD.

Other Thoughts: For those buyers worried about this beign a 550 series and not the 6,7,8 or whatever series, DON'T. For the average Joe six-pack you need nothing more. Don't believe the 120hz propaganda. I play COD 4 as well as EA sports games and see no lag or blur. I also see no issues when watching fast scenes in movies or sports. Do yourself a favor and save the extra few hundred dollars the newer sets cost and spend it on audio/video equip, You won't be disappointed. LOVE NEWEGG and so does consumer reports.

Pros: I just received the set today. First of all for a tv of this size its light! The delivery service was flawless, even delivered two days earlier than what it showed on their tracking service. Great price for a great tv. Just finished watching At World's End on BD and it was fantastic looking! I used the settings found on Cnet.com's review of this same series (only a smaller model). That got it close, and with a few tweaks for my taste the set is amazing. Could not be happier!

Cons: None to report at this time, everything is perfect.

Pros: I bought last years version of this exact Samsung and it's outstanding. Never used the speakers but I've got a computer, PS3 and HD Cable running through an audio reciever and into the TV and the picture is crystal clear. The menu is very simple and I barely adjusted the picture settings. It was also very simple to remove the stand and mount.

Cons: I thought I got a good price when I bought it. Now it's a steal. Newegg has never let me down and the AIT delivery team is excellent.

Other Thoughts: Many sales people I have talked to told me Samsung makes the best LCD TV right now.

Pros: Great TV for the price! You won't be disappointed with the amazing HD images from this unit. Very lightweight for the size and looks great. I shopped for a while in retail stores as well as on-line & have been satisfied with the complete transaction. Newegg.com beat everyone for price and their service is outstanding also--the LiveChat feature is great. It was delivered to my front door for no additional cost and setup was very easy, especially with Samsung's Plug & Play feature.

Cons: The factory speakers are not the best but most people will be hooking up surround sound either way. Otherwise, no complaints so far.

Other Thoughts: Newegg.com saved me time and money on this TV. You will have a hard time finding a better price or better customer service that you have right here--Thanks again!

Pros: I can't believe the picture on this TV. For $1650 and 12mo no payments on this beast it is by far one of the best deals around! Calibrated my settings using AVS forum recommendations and the picture is flawless! I was looking into the 650 and 750 because of the 120hrtz but checked them out side by side at BB and saw no reason why I needed to spend an extra 3 - 4 hundred dollars for it, and the red frame on those are not appealing to me at all. This TV is LIGHT for the size too... so happy mounting ;)

Cons: No cons what so ever other than it didn't fit the mount from my previous TV.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor... if your looking into buying an HDTV now teat yourself to this beast.

Pros: This TV is just amazing. Yea, it isn't 120Hz like some of the newer models, but it also is 2k dollars either. I recently got fed up with my low quality vizio 42" 1080i and decided to upgrade. One of my biggest complaints with cheap TV's is the low contrast ratio. This TV has a great Contrast ratio and all colors are nice, crisp, and clear. Yes, the speakers could use some help (better if you calibrate the settings widely available online) but come on, if you spend over 1k on a tv, go the extra bit and spend some money on a decent stand alone speaker sys (I bought the YHT-590BL from newegg)
Oh yea, this TV is GREAT for an HTPC set up.... the vizio was HORRIBLE at displaying video from my PC

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Get your calibration settings from the AVS forum webpage. They have entire threads dedicated to the Samsung 5 series. Yes, when you first calibrate to their "optimal" settings you will think the collors are a bit dim. Keep in mind however that most people watch their TV with settings WAY too bright and colorful. Give their settings 2 weeks time and you will learn to love them. My buddy complained that my settings were dull because the white was kinda grayish until I told him to note that the scene we were watching took place on a cloudy day, so the white SHOULDNT be bright white. Upon switching to the AWESOME blue angel documentary he saw the vibrant white was there on a sunny day, just like in real life.

Rating + 5 Great value, but assess your needs carefully


Pros: I have owned a 65" Mitsubishi HD-RPTV for about eight years. I was always very proud of the picture quality I received from my CRT's on that Mits. I would always say to myself when I went to retailers... "My Mits looks better than these Plasmas and LCD's." Well... I was dead wrong. This Samsung blows it away.

The picture quality on the samsung is magnificent. Great contrast, great colors, well calibrated right out of the box. Plus I don't have to worry about burn-in and screen glare.

Cons: The only true con associated with the TV is the sound. Do yourself a favor and get a home theater sound system even if it is a cheap one. The TV has a optical digital out so make sure the receiver you buy has an optical digital in and you'll be set.

The other cons aren't really cons but more about "buyer awareness." There are some things that would be nice to have on this set like QAM, which allows you to view digital cable channels without a box and also 120hz. I do notice the slightest lag after using CRT's. Just make sure you factor these things in when looking at this cheaper model or paying the extra money for a Samsung series 8 which has these features.

Other Thoughts: Remote uses extra big buttons with backlighting which might be a bonus for visually impaired owners.

Great for gaming. Hooked up my 360 via HDMI and had a wonderful 1080P picture.

Get a quality upconverting DVD player. Yes, there is a noticable improvement with Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, but regular DVD's still look REALLY good upconverted to 1080P.

Newegg is hard to beat... fast and free shipping, no tax and reliable return policy. No worries at all buying online.

Pros: Beautiful TV, if you have high definition source.
works wonderfully as a computer monitor to watch DVD, play games.

Cons: do not be fooled by the specifiaction of its speaker, they're horrible. Not really a flaw in this case, since every one of these flat-screen have horrible sound.

Other Thoughts: If you do not have high definition TV source, do not buy HD TV, as regular TV signal looks pretty bad on these HD TV.

Pros: I've done alot of home work on LCD and Plasma . There is certainly alot of hype on this set . I just replaced a 5 year old HD projection TV with this . No comparison . It lives up to everything that it was said to be . I can not believe the colors and crispness of the picture . We have satelite with HD and surround sound hooked up . I did find a sound tweak on the net that does help the sets built in sound system but we don't need it . You will not waste your money on this TV . You should to see football on this in HD TV . You can even see the blades of grass of the astro turf . My Thanks to Newegg for such fast delivery .

Cons: Not buying this sooner .

Pros: This TV is all you could ever want it looks amazing the blacks are deep and rich for an LCD, at 5m's your never going to see any lag. It is super light 80lbs in the box and 70 with the stand easiest TV I ever caried up the stairs. Box came with two handles on each side.

Cons: None truly amazing, and the guy that said HDMI cables are expensive is sad I mean gold tiped HDMI cables are like 10 bucks.

Other Thoughts: Great TV LCD has a longer life then plasma so I expect to enjoy this tv for years to come for the price if you have the money get one now. Seriously it is worth ever penny.

Pros: I Love the Picture Quality of this TV. Haven't yet fully upgraded to HDTV, but still the picture is great. The Price for this TV is better than every other retailer we looked at.

Cons: Only 3 HDMI Inputs, but I can get around that, so not too big of a deal. Comcast & Satellite Companies are a rip-off for HD Service at the moment. Hopefully that will change

Other Thoughts: This is a Great Deal of a TV. Looked at Circuit City, Best Buy, and Video Only, and this TV was Priced about $200 less than everyone else. Plus the Free Shipping Option New-Egg offered when we bought this just makes it that much better. Also shipping only took about 4 days for us which was a lot better than we expected from Free Shipping.

Pros: Crisp blacks. Blu-Ray looks fantastic. Stunning cabinet.

Make sure you spend a little extra and get the Monster Cables for this as it makes a huge difference. I did a test with some generic HDMI cables and I could immediately notice a difference when I tried the Monster ones.

The price point on this TV was a big part of the purchase. $600 less than B. Buy.

Cons: Remote is terrible. I'm using my Tivo remote instead and it works great.

Other Thoughts: After not seeing too many reviews on this site, I was little worried. The price point was fantastic and a couple of other sites had nothing but rave reviews. Being that this is the first TV I've ever purchased online, I had to run into my local B. Buy to check this thing out in person.... That's all I'm going to say, I was sold. Went to the AVS forums to get some config tweaks for the video and those made the quality even better.

Pros: Clear and big screen. I will never go to a movie theater after watching a Blu-Ray movie on this beauty. Colors and details are superb.

Biggest PROS are Newegg's service and promptness. I ordered this HDTV and it was here in 4 days! NICE... yes?

Cons: Direct TV looks like a blur on this TV, i'll have to figure out what cables or converter I'll need. Cost of Blu-Ray player and HDMI Cable are unreasonable.

Other Thoughts: Not as big as I expected. I'm just so used to watching on a 60 inch rear projecting TV. But, considering the clarity... shoot! HDTV all the way!

Pros: HUGE TV!!!! Clear Videos with HDMI and easy to setup. Need more HD channels!!!!

Cons: sound is not that great. I trried used component cables from cable box to TV picture is really bad and static sound! But when I used an HDMI cable everything is clear. Maybe it was the cable box.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace a 4 year old 42inch EDTV plasma. What a difference! My sister was like wooah when she saw the TV. Hooked up PS2, PS3, Wii. So far PS3 has been perfect watching DVD's and playing BF Bad company. Watching DVD's on PS2using standard AV cable with this TV is not recommended.

Rating + 5 Amazing TV for Price and Picture Quality


Pros: This TV is excellent for the money compared to Sony's XBRs. The picture quality is absolutely amazing when you calibrate it correctly (I use Spyder3TV to do so). There are complaints about the sound quality, but what people does know is that there is an equalizer in the TV. If you equalize it properly, the sound will be absolutely outstanding. Search around online for suggestions on how to calibrate the sound quality. There are plenty of ports for your needs and the TV also allows great flexibility in adjusting every single thing to suit your viewing needs. For the money, this is a feature-packed TV that should be overlooked. Highly recommend it to anyone.

Cons: The black level is not as deep as plasmas but that is to be expected from LCDs.

Pros: Amazing picture quality right out of the box. Amazing blacks, strong colors and a fantastic built in navigation system. The TV has more than enough ports to accommodate multiple game systems and more. The refresh rate is fast enough there is no lag even in twitch gaming.

Cons: Built in sound is fairly weak, but that's almost standard on all TVs. Anybody who is investing $2,000 into a new TV and not using a surround sound setup may need to re-evaluate why they're buying a TV like this.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this as my gaming PC monitor in addition to my 360 and PS3. It's absolutely amazing, though at times the sheer size of it can be overwhelming. It's big. REALLY BIG.

Rating + 5 Why this tv rocks


Pros: The video quality is absolutely amazing. Nice blacks, great 1080p with blu-ray, good responsive menus, lots of connections. Spent lots of time comparing this with the A650 and the new A750. Other than the 120Hz on the 650/750, the tv looks almost identical. Yes it is 30,000:1 vs 50,000:1 contrast ratio, 30,000 on the A550, but thats mostly marketing as you really cannot tell a difference. However, you must go to the store and see the difference between 120Hz and 60Hz to see which one fits your needs. It needs to be disabled on the 650/750 anyways for many games, and thats mostly what I do, so it wasn't worth it to me to get the 650 or 750 series. Overall great tv, awesome picture quality.

Cons: Only one downside to this tv. The sound. You will see online reviews that the sound quality is ABSOLUTE garbage. It has bottom speakers, and they are horrible. You must hook up your own speaker system/receiver to get any type of sound quality, otherwise it's trash. I knew this when I bought the tv, because who doesn't have 5.1/7.1 :D But just beware that it sounds very muffled, and overall just sucks.

Other Thoughts: Purchased from Circuit City, not newegg, but as always newegg rocks!
