Sweet Display
Pros: Incredible black on this display, dark as the devil's nightmares. Was easy to setup, menus are about as intuitive as they come.
Cons: Plays a stupid little jingle when you power it on/off. So far I have only figured out how to disable it on power off... Other than that, the fact it wasnt free is about the only other con that comes to mind.
Other Thoughts: I use this thing as a computer monitor... It is gorgeous. Only issue is resolution has to be set to custom level as the default is about 100 pixels too large for the actual visible area of the monitor, but my graphics cards have an easy utility for that so it isnt a big issue.

Pros: Absolutely one of my best purchases ever (got it for a very good deal a couple weeks before Black Friday 2009). Great w/ my blu ray player, great w/ lower quality broadcasts (not everything is in HD yet), great when hooked up to my laptop w/ a VGA cable, sound quality isn't too bad either, especially when you turn on the faux surround sound system built in.
Cons: Really don't have anything major...there's no Sports Picture Mode preset (only Dynamic, Standard, and Movie) that a lot of other TVs have?
Other Thoughts: Don't think the 60Hz refresh rate is a drawback - I don't there's any way the human eye can tell the difference between the picture refreshing 60 times a second, or 120 times, or 240 times. I always feel if I will never know the difference between 2 technologies, there's no reason to shell out for the more expensive one.

Excellent HDTV!
Pros: The quality and price of this HDTV make it one of the best deals on Newegg now. Got mine shortly after Thanksgiving and have been very satisfied with it so far. It's easy to assemble and calibrate, and the color depths are beautiful. Motion blur is minimal (let's face it - 120hz is a joke since the hardware available doesn't fully support it yet), and at the right viewing distance it's negligible.
Cons: None so far!

A Candor Review
Pros: Quality - Out of the box the TV is perfect. There is no need for tuning the TV unless you want to spend hundreds of dollars for a professional calibrator to come in your home and say, "Your TV is already tuned, that will be a hundred dollars."
Color - The contrast ratio truly brings out the rich colors especially from the "Dynamic" mode. White's are white and blacks are almost black. I find that the "Standard" mode seems to be the perfect mode for me.
Size & Weight - For a 40" television, it was surprisingly light compared to my old 150 lbs Flat Screen 32" CRT. It is an easy one man lift.
Remote Control - True to the Touch of Color, the remote control is shiny. However, the usefulness of the remote control comes in handy when I want to switch the picture to different modes.
Watching tv on HDTV is a different experience and it feels like I'm watching it for the first time. If you want to upgrade your current television set then this is the way to go.
Cons: I did not get a larger Samsung ToC for the room it is in.
No Wireless connections.
No S-Video. But I don't even have an S-Video Cable.
Audio seems to lack in performance, but it gets the job done.
No memory card slots for pictures.
Energy Efficient mode changes the brightness and therefore distorts the viewer from a pleasurable experience.
Other Thoughts: Remember to take into consideration the distance you will be watching your television from. Since I am viewing the television from from my bed in the master bedroom, I feel that I should have purchased a larger television for my viewing pleasure.

Disappointed
Pros: Great looking picture...... Mostly
Cons: Blurring, blurring and ghosting
Other Thoughts: Picked this tv up for less than $600. I have always heard that Samsung makes the best. Got it, hooked it up and it looked good. However after more watching I notice lots of ghosting. It is really bad in SDTV, HDTV does it some too. Playing the ps3 (hdmi) it looks slightly blurry.
Quick search online and I find this is a common problem. (darker scenes make it worse)
I am disappointed, because I have never noticed this on my 3 year old toshiba lcd (60hz, 8ms). If it wasn't a so much trouble, I would be returning this.

Very satisfied
Pros: Great look, nice black finish, discreet buttons. The picture quality is great in HD and SD. Very bright, and energy efficient. The TV is extremely light in weight compared to one of my LCD tv's thats about the same size. Speakers are not too shabby. 4 HDMI ports, 1 VGA Video and PC Audio in. 2 Component in's, optical audio out, composite audio out, and side USB port for pics and music. You will have ore than enough connectivity.
Cons: The stand could be a bit more aesthetic rather than simply being a rectangle. The buttons sometimes are hard to locate and distinguish when lighting is low and your TV is on. The menu is a bit confusing at times.
Other Thoughts: For those contemplating between 60 HZ and 120 HZ, you have no reason to get 120 HZ at this point in my opinion. Why? 120HZ makes the video look like it was recorded on camcorder. It ruins the effect. Save your money, get 60 HZ until they get some newer technology out which will be a year or two. As always NewEgg takes care of you and you'll get this TV very quick.

Samsung LN40B550
Pros: Absolutely perfect out of the box. Noticeable quality. Good documentation (quick setup and manual). Fast shipping. Great price from Newegg and the usual trouble free transaction I have learned to take for granted.
Cons: None. Superior product.
Other Thoughts: I attached this monitor to a PC and am enjoying 40 inch internet usage as well as digital TV.

Very nice 40in LCD
Pros: I got this with a BF deal, and it has worked out well so far. A lot of connections and tuning options available for color and audio. Blacks are good, and can even be adjusted to your liking. No dead pixels in mine, but I got mine through D3LL. Sorry NE. I have it hooked up to my HTPC, DVD player, HD rabbit ears, and all work well. Looks very slick in my room with very good viewing angles. Not too shabby internal speakers, they would suffice if no home theater system available. They can be tweaked too in menu.
Cons: Front function buttons blend into the tv, so by the time you find what button you want to push, someone in the room would have found the remote.
Other Thoughts: I have watched Blu Ray movies and HD sports on this alerady and they look amazing. I give 4 eggs only because I am still tweaking the settings to give a better view. Its not perfect in my book, but great price sub 600 w/Cashback. Very minimal blur during sports or action scenes, but I tend to have a very fast eye due to FPS online gaming. 6ms response time with 60hz speeds streched out over 40 in, and one will notice deviations, no matter how small.

OUTSTANDING TV
Pros: Great, outstanding, awesome-can't say enough on how much I love this TV. Samsung has a leader in LCD TV's. Unit was packaged very well and got it within 3 days of ordering. To me 120 hz is not worth the extra money and I love watching sports on this 60 hz TV. I combined it with a Samsung Blu-Ray and 1 remote controls both when using an HDMI cable. Also love the Touch of Color frame, adds just a bit of style to the TV. Has everything you could ask for in LCD TV by Samsung.
Cons: None so far.

THE BEST TV ON NEWEGG!!!!
Pros: Where to start? Excellent picture, even with standard definition cable. HD Videos (1080p) will blow your mind! 720p videos look excellent also. Xbox 360 games (Halo 3, Fallout 3, Need for Speed Undercover) are amazing! Just set the picture settings to their factory values, and it will be (near) perfect. Some fine tuning of the picture settings may be required, depending on your set-up. The T.V. itself looks sexy no matter what.
Cons: It doesn't cook pizza or have a built in popcorn dispenser. :/ Other than that, the only bad thing is it doesn't have a variable sound output for your sound system. So if the internal speakers are disabled, the only way to adjust your volume is to use your sound system's remote. Or, get a really nice universal remote.
Other Thoughts: I have received nothing but compliments on this TV. Makes a great addition to any college dorm room ;)

WOW!!!
Pros: Fantastic Screen! 40"! Looks like a "mini-movie theatre" in my room. Is HDMI compatable=has 4 outputs. I'm able to use it with my computer laptop, and play my games on it! VERY AWESOME! Has a great picture on it, and is great to watch movies on it, compared to my old 32' TV--I'm just loving it! Touch controls for the bottom of the TV No more digital box to mess with! 12 mo's 0% Interest!
Cons: None!
Other Thoughts: I could write into details about the TV, I just really like the quality of this Samsung TV, and yes it did cost like $300 more than the Toshiba or whatever was sold here. And, when I buy another one, it will be a Samsung, again!

A miserable experience
Pros: Very nice picture while it lasted.
Cons: My 32 inch Samsung LCD was great for five months then died a spectacular death. While watching it one day, a huge spark arced out of the top of the TV, and it was absolutely dead. That was the start of my trouble as warranty service was horrendous. I made nearly two dozen phone calls to Samsung, their warranty service contractor and the various technicians. Scheduled service visits would result in no one showing up. It took nearly a month and a half to get replacement parts installed. I’ll never buy a Samsung product again.

Fantastic
Pros: Brilliant picture, excellent response time, plenty of HDMI ports, optical in/out, slick design, semi-gloss lcd coating, doesn't get hot (barely warm after a two hour 1080p movie), the remote is pretty nice... amber light instead of blue or green. It has 4 power saving options, including a dynamic brightness that adjusts based on the displayed image. It's as bright as any plasma I've seen. The swivel is handy.
Cons: No s-video port. I don't really want to spend another 90$ to get the HD receiver from my sat. provider. I just wish I could use the existing s-video port.
Standard def. upscaling isn't all that great on it. It isn't horrible, but it's subject to "smearing" which is not present with an HD source.
Other Thoughts: The ToC is highly advertised and highly over rated. Yes, it's very nice... but come on, it's just transparent red plastic. Who cares?
The base was also a little tricky to get one with just one person. You have to set the base on the floor and then try to maneuver the TV onto it. You could insert the base with the tv laying down, but the manual warns against it in case you get it lopsided *shrug*

Beautiful Picture
Pros: The contrast ratio on this television is stunning. The blacks are very dark. There is every kind of input you could need on the back and side of the unit. This is an awesome television and you will not be disappointed with any aspect of it.
Cons: Not a one.
Other Thoughts: Newegg shipped in 3 days for FREE! You just can't beat Newegg!

great deal on great LCDHD-TV
Pros: The Picture is excelent. the on set menu for set up was easy to follow as were the written instructions. easy hook up for both off air rf coaxial as well as 2 HDMI interfaces, component and composite interfaces. Great that you can actually label channels and connection ports. it saves scratching ones head and going ok what network is that any way. Actual the only thing i could think of that couldn't set this TV up is a box of rocks, LOL.
Cons: If you have a large room I would sugest a sound bar or Home theater surround sound system for better quality sound in larger spaces. In My living room it is just fine.
Other Thoughts: Best Bang for the buck in a 1080p LCDHD-TV. especially if your on a limited budget.

Great TV
Pros: Fantastic picture, I like the semi-matte screen. (I also own an "A" series) and this definitely helps reduce glare. Good off angle viewing.
Cons: Lousy speakers like most TV's but then the TV is only half the solution since you should turn off the tv speakers and listen through an AVR system.
Other Thoughts: Great TV at a great price. Kudos Samsung. Kudos NewEgg

Works Great but Hope It Does Not Need Repair
Pros: We got a good deal on an older model which worked great the first day. Very pleased with quality,, inputs, menu options, and adjustments.
Cons: Board went the second day rendering a psychodelic images in pastel colors. We opted to have it repaired. Samsung call center was very responsive, but contracted repair facility closest to metro Boston is in Rhode Island!! and hour and a half away. We could not get an appintment scheduled for over two weeks, so back to the retailer it goes. With a 3 hour round trip to Boston, who can blame them.
Other Thoughts: Great product just hope it never has to be repaired. Best to check with Samsung on location of their nearest repair facility before buying. It's a big fellow to have sitting around, and time consuming to set up, then have to uninstall it.

Pros: Had this tv for a couple months now and i love it. Looks really good with my directtv HD, Xbox360 along with my HDDVD player. Colors look amazing out of the box but still looking for tweaks online for this tv. Well worth the $1000 range my wife said i had to stay in. But if you can spend a few extra bucks get the 120hz. Doesn't make a huge difference but if your picky go for the 120hz. The sound is better on this one then the A550. No issues with the remote either. TONS of ports even on the side. And just the look of it with the TOC does wonders for your living room.
Cons: If you plan on putting this on the wall make sure to take care of the back of the tv. Its not solid, so the bolts from the wall mount are just holding onto the hard plastic frame of the tv and no steal frame on the back . But i did put the tv on the wall 2 months ago and its still holding on.
Other Thoughts: Over all this samsung is amazing for the price and is a big improvement over the A550. Its also 20 pounds less then the A550. I wanted to get this tv from newegg but they didnt get the tv in till a week after i already got the it :o( But we used it every day now for 2 months and still ZERO issue's. I almost gave it 4 eggs due to the back of the tv but it didn't fall off so i stuck with 5 eggs

At least the speakers work fine...
Pros: The speakers work just fine, it's a great looking TV when it's not in use...
Cons: I'll have video on screen for about two or three minutes then the screen goes blank...speakers work fine just the screen goes blank...the problem is consistent regardless of the video input that is selected/ being used.
Other Thoughts: It gets a 1 egg because well a television is pretty worthless without the picture. This is the first problem that I have had personally with a Samsung product; though I have read reviews from other people who were experiencing the same problems. I've contacted Samsung customer support, and set up an appointment for a Tech to have a look at it. I hope it gets fixed

Great
Pros: Bought this T.V. back in February and it looks great! Watching High Def Movies with this thing is simply amazing and absolutely flawless. It's the best 40" you can get hands down and is pretty simple to use with numerous color and sound options. It's just great.
Cons: The tv is absolutely great but the remote could be better for such a high quality tv. Other than that.... perfecto

Awesome
Pros: Really dark, deep blacks ( deepest I've seen on an LCD yet). Best part about that is it's still obscenely bright. Colors look great in movies in any lighting ( especially blue rays...wow). At first I was a bit skeptic about this set thinking my last samsung tv (720p set by the way) was about as good as it was gonna get for awhile... definitely dead wrong. Hooked it up, adjusted the setting to perfection (by the way, don't be turned off if you hook something up through HDMI and it's alittle TOO sharp, just turn down the sharpness or turn off edge enhancement). Most images on screen look like stickers. Awesome set, can't beat that price.
Cons: Well, this might not actually be a con but it is one for me. The base of the stand is made of actual glass. While this looks awesome and is really cool, I'm just kind of nervous about eventually breaking it. Other than that, that's the only gripe I have with this set
Other Thoughts: Just so no one is confused about this like I was, the screen is Matte, but it's glossy. It's the perfect combination (IMHO) for screens because I like the glossy screens, just not the glare. It still being matte seems to keep most of the glare away (it's still there, just not that bad)

Pros: great color - nice deep blacks, i upgraded from a 720p - wow what a noticable difference. and the price for the quality is awesome.
Cons: haven't had it long yet, but can't seem to find a way to manually add channels to the channel list, besides what it can pick up in the auto program.
Other Thoughts: can't go wrong with this for the price - absolutely great deal. newegg is much cheaper than anyone else that i saw and they have free/quick shipping.

Nicest one I saw
Pros: Very bright when bright is required and does not wash out in the sunlight.
In a side by side comparison, this TV has much darker blacks than the 42LG50, my second choice. That pretty much did it for me.
Very sharp picture that allows graphics to "stand out".
The TV is light. So light, in fact, the 20" tube TV it replaced felt like a brick compared to this new unit.
The menu is very easy to use.
Cons: This TV is wall mounted with a SANUS VM400 purchased through NewEgg. The mount fits the TV well. The con is the back of the TV which seems overly flimsy/flexible.
Nothing bad happened, I just would like such a critical part to have a little more stiffness/beefiness. This seems to be an issue with more than just this TV
Other Thoughts: Based on reviews on the NewEgg site, I narrowed my search to the following:
Samsung LN40B550 LG 42LG50 Sony KDL40V4100
I chose the Samsung primarily due to the fact that a local retailer beat NewEgg on both units and actually sweetened the deal by making the Samsung the same price as the LG. Sorry NewEgg. I do love you guys, but money and local service talks.
The Samsung does have an additional HDMI port over the LG, but it is on the side of the TV, not much of a permanent spot, IMHO.
The Sony required an extra piece for the Sanus mount, so it was in third place pretty early on and it stayed that way.
