Durable!
Pros: Very durable (see "other thoughts"). Bright, clear image...even after 450 hours of usage. Easy set up; lens shift is a great feature.
Cons: Fan noise, but it's no louder than other projectors I've been around.
Other Thoughts: This projector sits on a shelf 9 feet above a concrete floor. This past weekend, my son climbed a ladder to connect another device and accidentally knocked it off the shelf. After a 9 foot fall, it still powered on. The case was unhurt, and the lens bezel was bent slightly. Yes, even the bulb survived.
Now back on the shelf, it works as good as always. I don't recommend letting yours fall to the floor in a like manner.....the incident left my son very shaken and myself very impressed!

YES!
Pros: Looks Great, good inputs, hangs upside down well from the Vantage Point C 6" Mount. I have it projecting at 190" and it looks great. The positioning nozzle is great, and the digital tilt adjustment works nicely. No setup turn it on and plugged my laptop into and bam.
Cons: My place is well lit, a loft with two sliders for windows, during the day it is still visible but of course looks best when dark.
Other Thoughts: I use this as my conference room projector, attached to a mac mini and cable box. Great Buy. Wish the projectors physical size was smaller. I was worried as this was my first projector, it wont be my last.

Great entry HT projector
Pros: This PJ is an amazing deal for it's price. I have this throwing a 100" screen and am sitting at about 11' from it. My room is about 90% light controlled (during the day some light does get in). The image is bright, easy to see and looks amazing. I have watched countless blu-ray movies, dvds, and tv on this screen and couldn't be happier. It also performs great with my XBox 360 and PS3. I couldn't imagine playing a game on anything else every again.
Cons: At 100" screen size, there is a screen door effect from up close until about 8-9 feet back. from where i am sitting it isn't noticeable at all.
If my room gets hot the projector gets loud. This only really occurs if i have all of my components, game systems, both tv's and both computers in the room running simultaneously. I'm embarrased to say this can be regular for me >.> Under normal circumstances this is extremely quiet.
Other Thoughts: My girlfriend bought this PJ for me, and to be honest I was nervous about the fact that it is an LCD over a DLP. After my first movie I couldn't be happier. I wouldn't consider going back to a plasma/(non-pj)LCD for movie watching again.
If this is anyone's first step into the projecion home theater world, I wouldn't hesitate at all. You'll be glad you did.

My 2nd most prized possession
Pros: This is a fantastic projector, folks. I've had it for a few months, and have probably clocked around 8 movies on it. My housemates and I absolutely love it. The image is high-quality and bright, and we project it on a white wall, getting a good 9ft wide projection. It's easy to use in menu and in sizing your screen, and since I'm not a daytime viewer of movies I don't think I'll ever invest in a flatscreen.
Cons: Without curtaining, direct sunlight obliterates the image. If you have somewhat thick curtains (or in my case, a giant dark bedsheet pinned over windows), it becomes reasonably good for watching. If you're a daytime watcher, you might have some qualms.
Other Thoughts: It's a fairly hefty little machine, and I'd be nervous transporting it without a high quality carrying case.

Works wonders hooked up to a computer
Pros: Works great hooked up to a computer -- takes all sorts of resolutions and refresh rates that you throw at it. Impressive picture size even with a short throw distance. Excellent for movies, games (Crysis included), browsing the internet -- I've even had friends code via linux on it. Manual focus and XY shift is handy. Relatively quiet: you'll notice it when you turn it on but it easily fades away into the background. Low power consumption. Extensive menu features. Convenient remote shortcuts.
Cons: Will wash out during the day in sunlight, although this is to expected for this class of projector. Dynamic iris feature is annoying when surfing the internet, but you can easily turn it off via the menus. Don't even consider the eco-mode, it's far too dim.
Other Thoughts: I did my research before buying this and I confidently say it was the best A/V investment I made in a while. I regularly have friends over every weekend for the past two months who tell me I've spoiled them for life with the projector's visual quality. I've also broken the hearts of several of my friends that bought huge expensive TVs only to be outclassed by the picture size of this baby.
If you can, hook it up using HDMI. We were more than happy using D-SUB for a while, but the detail from HDMI will blow you away compared to any analog video signal.

Not Bad
Pros: Very easy to adjust image location. Good detail for the most part. Pretty bright image
Cons: Malfunctioned after 3 weeks of use. Dark images are sometimes hard to see.
Other Thoughts: I'm confident that the malfunction is just one fault unit, and that this projector is an excellent projector for the money.

Mobility/Excellence
Pros: First projector, excellent!! No cons, pretty bright as in i can use it during the day with curtains half open.... ofcourse quality quadruples in dark room. Easy to move and clean with eco-mode, extending lamp life!! Plugged PC, ps3, wii and the visuals r just wow. Has a joystick type handle which extends its flexibility given different environments. It treats 720p perfectly and also takes care of 1080p (downscales it, but still looks good!) Again, Benq score another one. This projector will hit anything you give it. Its a go for me!!
Cons: ...none

Awesome all around.
Pros: Where to begin? The W500 is my first step into the field of home theater projectors and I am totally glad i got it. I decided to go the route of a projector because i wanted a big screen and not pay for the rest of my life for a tv a fraction of the size. I currently have the screen at aproamately 120 inches and WOW, the colors are amazing the brightness is good even on eco mode and the movable lense is the best. I have watched tv, played xbox 360 and surfed the web on this machine and it is all astounding. The menus are detailed and easy to use. The specs of this projector are way better than some models $1000 more and it shows it. A must buy.
Cons: *Not so bright during the day- but that is to be expected *Kinda hot *A little bigger than I expected but not too big
Other Thoughts: Best deal around for the price. I ordered it mid-friday and I recieved it monday, NEWEGG ROCKS!

not bright enough
Pros: Great quality image , plays HD. I'm never going back to $expensive big screen tv's again.
Cons: Too dim to play in a daylight setting. Not bright enough to project BIG.
Other Thoughts: I bought an inverter, hooked it up to my truck and laptop. Played several HD movies on a 40' wall. Great Fun. Although I exceeded the recommended size, it did OK at 40'.

Great Projector
Pros: Projector is great, easy to setup. The Picture quality is amazing contrast, brightness, all great, and the price is even better. I did research for over a month and thought this was the best projector in the under $1500 category. It did not disappoint! Playing Xbox looks better than any DLP TV I’ve ever seen and most LCD or Plasma's, add to that the fact it's on a 92" screen makes it perfect. Look around do some research and then buy this projector.
Cons: An audio out would be nice but you can't have everything.

Bigger its better
Pros: Picture Looks good! Much better than my W100 that I sold to my roomate jaja. The Dynamic IRIS lets you move the frame all over the wall without moving the proyector at all. Very usefull for medium to small rooms. I pay the same as the W100 2 years ago now for 720p.
Cons: The Dynamic Iris gets blur in the corners, the more you move off center the worst it gets. Correction.. center it more but like me I have space problems and a door.
Other Thoughts: I love it. I feel Im at the movies at home HDMI works with my X-box superb and I watch movies there too. Once you go Big you never go small ever again next up-grade 1080p I know new egg will make my dream come cheap lol.

Awesome
Pros: First projector I've purchased. Definitely pleased! It's amazing watching 720p on a 110" screen, which would be at least $3000 for an lcd or plasma. I don't think I will ever go back to traditional
Cons: Same as all projectors, only works best in a dark room, although bright things like sports look pretty good, even with quite a bit of sunlight. 1080p would be nice, but this is perfect for a someone fairly new to projectors, like myself.
Other Thoughts: If you have the room, and don't mind taking a few measurements and putting in the work to mount and aim it, go for it.

Great Product
Pros: Right out of the box this projector has great picture. Very easy to set up. Has lens shift which allows a wide variety of mounting options. The remote has a great backlight. Xbox 360 looks great as well as standard definition through component.
Cons: None thus far.
Other Thoughts: Very very good entry level projector especially for the price, I would put this one toward the top of any list.

Top of the Line!
Pros: Great picture, LCD > DLP projectors, Looks great even on a white wall that has texturing, Economic mode looks very close to Normal mode, It actually accepts 1080p signals and does not downgrade them - I confirmed this through the menu on the projector - It WILL do 480i/p, 720p, and 1080i/p
My Xbox 360 is 1080p and my digital cable box is 1080i, and they both display flawlessly in those resolutions.
Cons: It's white and not black.
I did have a few problems hooking up an Xbox 360 to it with an hdmi cable. I had to set the projector to STOP auto searching the sources and after a few automatic restarts, my xbox auto fixed its settings to display properly.
Other Thoughts: I was torn between this projector and another similarly priced model of a different brand on here. This one is 3LCD and the other is DLP. (I apparently can't say which one it is, so hopefully if you are deciding between the same two you will realize). Anyways, my friend advised me to go with this one because it is 3LCD and a little cheaper.
When I first fired this baby up, I was more than surprised at the quality of the picture that it produced. I am never going to buy regular TV's or flat panels any more - provided I have enough space for a projector (currently I'm 9' away with an 84" screen).
This is nearly half the price of hdtv's that are half the size. Trust me and buy this thing.

Nice, but had a problem.
Pros: Nice, bright picture with easy hook-ups. Good settings (color, etc) right out of the box. Looks nice...very clean lines.
Cons: Worked for about 3 hours, then blinked and ended up on a blank white screen. Restarted, unplugged, etc. and nothing helped. Called manufacturer support, but they were unable to identify/fix the problem. Then called Newegg. As usual, they were very understanding and set up a return request right away.
Other Thoughts: I'm hoping to be able to come back and change my rating. I'm sure it's just a bad LCD chip or something, but regardless...I can't use it since it's on its way back to California =(

Awesome
Pros: Absolutely stunning image, even close-up to the screen. Lots of settings to choose from to get the perfect picture for you, and the dynamic mode is a great feature. Runs quietier and not nearly as hot as I expected. A great bang for your buck (as of now)!
Cons: None that I can think of, maybe automatic keystone correction would be nice but it's got manual so I won't complain.
Other Thoughts: NewEgg's shipping almost seems like they beam it to your front door!

BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!!!!!
Pros: SD DVDs are wonderful to watch and HD comcast channels are awesome. Plenty of tweeking in the menu setup, I advise using the economy setting all the time because to me there is only a slight brightness increase and you gain an extra 1000 hrs of lamplife!!!
Cons: SD cable is pixely but I have it on the HD channels 90% of the time so whatever. PS2 games are not as I would have expected, the problem I found was that of course the PS2 is native 4:3 so when you switch to 16:9 it streches it which I really don't care for, bottom line(I NEED A FRIGGIN' PS3!!!). With regards to ambient light, you do need it fairly dark to enjoy however I can get away with a single desklamp on but in the pitch dark the W500 really shines.
Other Thoughts: first and foremost if you have not tried NEWEGG before I highly recommend it!!!!(WARP SPEED SHIPPING) my setup is pretty simple, SONY 5.1 surround sound, MVIX760HD'(which is the jewel of my setup) for the DVD ISO playback,Comcast cable and the ps2. If you want a good screen on a super budget I recommend photographers background paper for 100" screen or less. The paper color is super white and it comes in 53" by 12yds, I spent 30 bucks on it and tacked it up and it works great!!!

Great Projector for a Great Price
Pros: Great Picture quality, easy to set up with the lens shift, it looks awesome in my basement cinema. The fan is quiet, dynamic mode is great and ecco mode saves the lamp life while not affecting picture quality. Absolutely love it. HD sports look awesome, and Xbox 360 looks awesome. If your looking for a projector look no further get this one.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Dont waste your time or money on another projector just get this one and start enjoying your 16:9 native HD dvds.

I love it!
Pros: Beautiful picture. Easy to use. All the video input ports I will ever need. Easy to navigate the menu setting. Remote is sharp. The movable lens is great.
Cons: The fan rattles every once in awhile. I'm not sure if that is a defect I might need to look furthure into. I do see alot of reviews saying the fan is noisy. Besides the rattle , it doesn't bother me. I have it ceiling mounted right over my couch (less than 5 feet from my head) When I have the sound off and the projector on, it sounds about as loud as a fan on my computer case. The sound from movies mute the sound of the fan. So I don't feel this is worthy of taking a star away.
Other Thoughts: This is my first projector. I had no problems turning it on and getting it set up to my customization. I have a DVD player, computer and a digital cable box hooked up to it. It's displaying a 100" picture onto a wall area I painted white.

Great for Everything
Pros: I was looking for a HDTV and my wife suggested I get a projector instead. Well, She was right, with the HDMI port on the back and 720p video games look amazing, and also movies are wonderful. Its like I have my own personal movie theater. I have it hooked up to my converter box, and I watch TV on it also.
Cons: In bright situations like with all projectors its not as crisp, but that is to be expected. Their is no audio out for the HDMI, so make sure what ever you hook up to it has an alternate audio out. And the lamp will eventually go out, but $245 is better than 1000 for a new TV when that brakes.
Other Thoughts: With all the ports you can have everything hooked up at once, I have my Xbox 360, DVD player, Converter box, and my computer hooked up, and I still have not used all the ports.

Incredible Picture
Pros: Very nice picture right out of box. havent adjusted anything and it looks great. replacing a viewsonic model with same specs.. looks a whole lot better. decieded to buy this one after going through my second bulb on vs. glad i did. picture is smaller 16:9 as opposed to 4:3.
Cons: none yet. will update if needed.

Great Projector for the price
Pros: Ok, I have been looking at projectors for approximately 3 months now and have decided on the BenQ. The first impression out of the box was pretty amazing...take in consideration i've never owned a projector before. The lens shift toggle is awesome, i can literally mount this projector anywhere and move the screen 5 feet in any direction. My setup is a 100" manual pull-down screen, and i sit about 12-13 feet back. I primarily use the projector to play xbox360...halo 3 and it works awesome. Some maps are brighter than others and may take some fine tuning, like snowbound for one. But overall this projector is well worth the money, esp when you can get the entire setup w/screen for well under a grand. Also bulb relpacement is cheaper than other projectors too and the projector is very very quiet, my xbox is louder than this thing.
Cons: Only cons I can think of is the room has to be fairly dark for you to truly enjoy the crisp image w/o any washouts. Also the contrast ratio isn't as high as other projectors in this class.
Other Thoughts: If you are a first time projector buyer, I am almost positive you will be impressed.

Great Projector
Pros: The picture is great, 720P native and i have it on a 140 inch screen, Blu-Ray looks great, and i cant hear any fan noise or anything. Had a superbowl party and everyone was jealous because for the price i paid for my whole system including Blu Ray no one is even close. and they paid thousands more for just a large TV not even close to the size i have. I Love it
HD Cable is also great watch the Discovery HD Theatre it will blow your mind!!!!
Cons: when switching from SD to HD it takes a 3 seconds and goes to a purple screen before it switches.
1100 Lumens is great in a dark room but when theres alot of ambient light you cant see dark scenes that well.
Other Thoughts: I mainly watch at night in a very dark room and i get the theatre quality that i was looking for i just got my rebate check from BenQ and that was a fast turn around also.

BenQ W500
Pros: Converts SD to HD. Very clear picture even thought im shooting an 11' wide screen. HDMI input. Very awesome lens shift if you need to mount it in odd locations. Remote lights up, very cool idea.
Cons: Currently about every 5th time i turn it on it has random red or blue pixels chasing mostly faces or similar color objects. I turn it off and back on and it goes away but waiting 5 mintues to go off then back on really sucks. Contacting BenQ now. At first i thought it was this junk Astar dvd player but then found out it did it on any source. Couldnt return to newegg since after 30 days and i bought it a month before the room was done to get the grear price, but will now have to ship to BenQ unless this is resolved.
Other Thoughts: Very nice PJ, got it 2 months ago for seven hundred after rebate. Just got rebate about 2 months later. Dynamic mode seems a bit weird as it changes colors during screen switches, moslty leave it on cinema and lamp on native mode. HD from Dish looks amazing. Cant stop watching those dang voom channels. HD DVD's look great. Trying to figure out if the PJ does a better upconvert than my HD dvd player on standard dvds, still havent decided but both look supurb. Some SD feeds still look like bad but theres nothing you can do with fuzzy source. Comparable to the Mitts 1500 but for the price i think the W500 is the better deal, if you have the extra three hundred get the Mitts.

Exceptional value for a true home theater experience
Pros: The BenQ W500 home theater projector truly lived up to my expectations of how movies and HD television should be experienced. Upscaled DVDs look incredible! My home theater seating is approximately 11 feet away from 108" diagonal screen with the only notable "screen door effect" (visible pixels) showing up with some text, although I think that may also be the result of mpeg compression artifacts. Besides the outstanding value this proector offers in upfront cost, the replacement bulbs are considerably less expensive than competing projectors in this segment.
Cons: LCD technology can't quite reach the black levels of DLP, it by no means detracts from my enjoyment of this projector.
Other Thoughts: As with all home theater projectors you do need to control the room lighting for the best viewing experience, but I would not hesitate to highly suggest the BenQ W500 make your short list when in the market for a home theater projector.

Very pleased here.
Pros: It has a very nice picture. I've played games and watched movies with it. I prefer the movie performance simply because the picture is so large it's difficult to deal with choppy response rates in games. It's probably the Playstation 3's fault with framerate drops, but nonetheless it's not easy on the eyes in extended doses.
Cons: I don't like current generation resolutions and response times, but that's not the fault of this projector. It's fine for movies.
Other Thoughts: Would probably check for other brands next time since I saw two similarly spec'd models at a big box store for a few hundred less. I'm pleased with this one, but even with the rebate I can't help but feel cheated. Hope it proves it's value over the long haul.

Projector Newbie. I LOVE IT!
Pros: I was a newbie to home theater projectors. My buddy had one and I really wanted one for myself. This thing blows my mind. The resolution is sharp and crisp even on a blank beige wall (still waiting on my screen). I didn't use a ceiling mount, just installed a shelf on my back wall and it works great. The lens joystick adjuster is fantastic and easy to use. The menu is deep and thorough to help you customize every last aspect of the product. The lighted remote is a nice touch as well. Make sure you checkout BENQ's product page for this as they have a nice flash applet that helps you determine viewable size, projector distances, diagonal distances etc. This will help you pick out the right size screen and help you to figure out mounting distances, etc.
Cons: It would be nice if there was an audio out.
Other Thoughts: If you've been toeing the water, thinking of a home projector, this is the one for you.

Extremely pleased!
Pros: HQV processing makes a huge difference in video quality. I have this throwing a 208" screen with little to no "screen door" effect. For the price point that this now sells at, it is surely a bargain even at 720P. The absolute BEST entry level home theater projector you can get!
Cons: Seems hard to find replacement bulbs, but at $$$ each on average, by the time the included bulb goes out, you probably will be ready to get a newer one that is currently tops on the market anyway. Or upgrade to another class of projector. Other than that, this projector does very well.
Other Thoughts: After careful research at various theaterphile websites out there, I was glad to find that my favorite tech website carried these in stock and for a reasonable price.

Great Projector
Pros: Great projector for price. No blurring or ghosting of fast images. Decent brightness and contrast 'if' you can control the lighting levels of the room.
Cons: Slight green bleed from the last row of pixels on the bottom and left, only noticeable at a distance less than 4ft.
Fan seems to have gotten louder since initial setup.

Excellent projector
Pros: Outstanding picture quality with respect to color, brightness, and contrast. Essy to install and operate. I use it for home entertainment and I am very happy with it. I hooked up my PC to it using HDMI cable and watch DVDs, videos, slide shows, and HD television with it.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Wish the cooling fan could be less noisy.

Pros: * The picture is very sharp and the colors seem very accurate without adjustment. After a few tweaks (via extensive menu options), the image borders on spectacular.
* The machine operates quietly.
* Manual Lens Shift makes installation/placement VERY easy in almost all settings.
* CHEAP replacement bulbs available
* Onboard HQV scaler is excellent for upconverting standard def content
Cons: * While the contrast specs are decent for a projector at this price, contrast within a particular scene occasionally suffers. Blacks and greys blend without much differentiation.
* I wish the warranty were a bit longer
Other Thoughts: This is my second projector. I've upgraded from the Infocus sp-4805 and the improvement in picture quality is striking, despite the fact that the sp-4805 throws a very nice image.
I've noticed very little in the way of video noise, jaggies, artifacts, and whatever else occasionally happens when a display isn't processing video well. This projector handles everything I've thrown at it - an old DVD player, a Dish Network VIP-622 receiver, and my precious D-Link DSM-520 Media Lounge. I'm VERY happy with this purchase.

great projector
Pros: OK, the colors look vivid, the image is very very clear, is very easy to set it up right out the box, the projector itself looks good, 2 component.
Cons: light is a little low, you need to have a dark room to appreciate the image to its best.
Other Thoughts: I COMPARED side by side the mitsubishi HC1500 whit this projector (running at the same time, 1 next to the other projecting in the same surface), and the picture quelity of this baby is way better, and the color look amazing, but unfortunely, the light of the mits is brighter, w500 still looks great if you dont compare it, but because I did that, it kinda bothers me. NEWEGG THE BEST

Amazing Projector. Highly recomended.
Pros: Amazing projector. Very bright, crisp, colourful image.
Cons: Could be 1080p, but those are $$ (and this is pretty much just as good)
Other Thoughts: When I bought this projector I was a little sceptical. I thought that maybe it wouldn't be bright enough, the contrast ratio would be too low, or the resolution wasn't high enough, but after plugging it in I found that it is brighter than I could ever need. I have it on economy mode, even during the day with the windows open. The contrast ratio could be higher, but it is fine as it is. The resolution is great. I plugged it into a PS3 and the HD in games and on Blu-rays look incredible. It also looks incredible showing standard definition, so that is a huge plus. Highly recomended.

Amazing Home Cinema
Pros: Amazing picture. Have it mounted on the ceiling using a peerless universal mount. Using DVI to HDMI cable from a media center PC in my entertainment center. Works VERY well. Just need surround sound to make my home cinema complete.
Cons: Not a very bright image - you'll definitely need a darker room to enjoy this puppy.
Other Thoughts: It's amazing. If you have 1200 dollars to spend, spend it.

Great Projector
Pros: Great projector. There is so much control over this projector. you can control the brightness, the contrast, color, and it can be positioned almost anywhere in relation to the screen. Brightness is great, was watching it on a thin king size sheet with the lights on and it looked fine. lighted remote.
Cons: Didn't come with a carring case like my old BenQ :[
Other Thoughts: Couldn't be happier....well.. 1080p would be nice...

Good Buy
Pros: Excellent quality. I installed this with 121 inch screen and movies looks spectacular. I used HDMI cable to wire because it allows long cable run about 50+ ft without amplifier. The quality is spectacular. The brightness and contrast ratio are bit low but if you have fairly dark room, it should be fine. The projector has wide range of resolution and it does not need complicated setup as I was expecting it. Just right out of the box it seems to work but with little calibration you can achieve good quality and performance. The price is perfect because I don't want to break a bank.
Cons: Brightness and contrast is bit low but with fair lighting condition. It looks good. I usually watch movies at night so it looks pretty good.
Other Thoughts: Newegg is excellent as always with their fast service. However shipping from TN wherehouse is bit slow.

Excellent Projector
Pros: This projector compared to my Hd1000u is a full step up in quality. Color is better Sharpness is better The Brightness seems about the same but in dynamic mode it almost seems brighter than the Hd1000u
Fan noise is very quiet
The HQV processing does an excellent job on SD material the picture looks much better than my Oppo 981 was able to put out.
Black levels are good but I wouldn't say excellent but there equal to the Mits or better with the iris on or off (this is in standard lamp mode ) In cinema mode with the iris on they are very good and inky.
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: This is definitely one of the better projectors I have seen. I have owned and Sp4805,In72,HD70,Hd1000u and seen The Epson 400 and a couple of others perform and while I would say the W500 out performs the others mainly because of the HQV processing which at this price point I never expected to see.
