Cons: Must warm up a few moments while showing the ViewSonic screen saver. But very briefly Other Thoughts: I have had a 22" in my sun room now for nearly a year. Because it has been so reliable and good I am getting this 16" one for my husband's new office! He uses the 22" at home all the time. I also don't know what the man below is talking about. The picture is fine as long as you don't get too far off in the weeds. It does tilt, so that helps the viewing some. The set up went very smooth and we can view a whole lot of channels even without the box on the cable. Cons: The sound is terrible. If anyone says otherwise, they need their hearing checked. I wonder why ViewSonic can put a better speaker on my desk monitor than on their TV. I would return it for that reason alone and is the reason I only gave it three eggs. RochHam Tech Level: high Ownership: 1 week to 1 month This user purchased this item from Newegg	1/1/2009 3:42:08 PM Decent Kitchen TV for the price Pros: Easy to use/setup. So far we have used for standard analog and HDTV straight off the cable (no DVD playing yet and may use as a PC monitor at some point but that was not the reason we got it). Since this unit has a QAM filter we can pick up all non scrambled HD signals off our cable w/o a box. The picture quality for both HD and analog is excellent. Others have complained about the sound but I would rate it a B considering the limited physical size and 2.5W amplifier, it meets my expectations. In setup music mode it sounds fine on all channels-yes there is no bass but what do you expect?! Cons: The picture quality viewing angle as mentioned in other reviews is not the best. It does tilt up/down which helps somewhat but when you get about 30 degrees (60 degree total viewing angle) off center either way the darks especially looks pastey. Our point of comparison is our 2 year old 42" Sony LCD HD Bravia which has about a 170degree viewing angle and cost just under $2K so this is like comparing a small subcompact car to a Mercedez but it could have been better. Perhaps we can buy a $25 under cabinet mount to make it more flexible for turning but for now we are just trying out a couple countertop locations. Other Thoughts: I bought this for my wife as a Christmas present to use in the kitchen and perhaps as a spare (for a bedroom or hobby room TV), it fits that purpose fine. For $190 after rebate we can live with that, at 6 lbs it's much easier to lug around than our 25 year old portable with limited channels. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Did you? This picture is quite nice. I've seen less quality picture in more expensive lcd's. I also liked that after channel scanning, the DTV channels automatically follow the regular channels - i.e. 8 to 8-1 to 8-2 by simply channel surfing. Cons: I've seen a lot of reviews on this about the viewing angles. Price was right, the rebate and free shipping ( thanks Newegg!) made it even nicer. Good TV for the kitchen or other small area. HD cable looks pretty good but only after a bit of tinkering with the menu options. Looks decent when hooked up and used as a PC monitor. ( You may have to move the vertical and horizontal screen position after it adjusts for the resolution of 1360x768. ) Cons: You get what you pay for. The speakers are pretty bad, I had to turn the treble down to get rid of a noticeable hiss. Even without the hiss the speaker quality just isn't good. The viewing angle is also pretty limited, watch this TV from straight on. Not many options in the menu to customize the image quality. It would have also been nice if you could adjust the screen position from the base. The response time and contrast are what you would expect for a TV of this price. Great picture no dead pixels Cons: speakers are small Other Thoughts: this tv was for my 18 wheeler so the sound is ok not great but ok the base is way to unstable to let standing in a moving vehicle i will need to mount this to the interior wall but for just at home base would do just fine. Clear and loud audio viewing angle 160 degree + from each side. Comes with 90 degree cable adaptor so you don't see the cable connected to the back. All around great TV/Monitor for the price, I was looking for a small TV and $30 rebate made this one too good to pass up. The ability to use as a monitor and the HDMI input were bonuses. Works well there. Off-axis viewing from close up does fall off quickly, but at 6 or more feet away viewing angle improves greatly. Tilts and easily adjusted and works fine up close, make sure you have a little room to do this. Plenty of inputs...have a DVD recorder/VHS (yup vhs)/regular cable and the hdmi is waiting for another dig decoder to be plugged in. Receives tons of channels (QAM). Decent picture and sound adjustments, can get it to look and sound quite good. Animation looks fantastic on it. Cons: For $219...none. Don't expect a 60" plasma and you will be pleased. With discount and manufacturer's rebate a great price for this size LCD HDTV. Cons: Must view screen straight-on or picture is distorted. Audio has a "tinny" sound even after every audio adjustment has been made. Other Thoughts: Bought to use in kitchen but due to viewing angle problems ended up putting in bedroom where view is pretty much straight-on. Cons: The sound quality is not that good, and when you use headphones, it cuts out with every other channel and you need to go into the menu to change the audio settings. Other Thoughts: We use this as a portable travel tv. The graphics are great with any next-gen console gaming system, and it is easy to overlook the audio issues, especially with a nice set of headphones. Lightweight, easy to move around and takes up very little space. Cons: Buttons on the remote are a bit small. Other Thoughts: We bought this for my Mom for her birthday, she's a senior citizen. She uses this tv in her kitchen. It's a much better picture than the previous set she had. No other pros to mention. Cons: Unless you are staring STRAIGHT at this TV, you won't be able to see a picture. The viewing angle is about 30 degrees...not 160 degrees. If you plan to put it on your desk and stare straight at it, you'll be fine. I purchased it to sit above my refrigerator in the kitchen and no one can see the screen because the viewing angle is so horrible. Other Thoughts: The sound quality is also horrible...way worse than standard laptop computer speakers. Plan to purchase auxillary speakers along with this TV if you plan to watch it much. Has several inputs - including Coax and HDMI (both extremes). The sound on this TV is just fine - plenty loud enough and the Remote Control works just fine as well (contrary to some other prior reviews). I mentioned that this unit has poor sound quality. It was so bad that I sent the unit back to ViewSonic for service. Well...they did some magic and the sound quality is noticeably better. It did take them over a month to get the unit back to me, but in the end I now find the TV sound acceptable. Also, I said the unit does not tilt - I was wrong. It DOES have tilt capability (very stiff at first, but loosens up). I've bumped up my rating from 2 to 3. Cons: I missed out on the rebate. Also, I had to pay to ship the unit back for service. ViewSonic covered the return shipping costs. Other Thoughts: There aren't very many 16" LCD TV's on the market. I'm running this off TV2 of my Di$h Network$ DVR...which requires a Coax connection because of the distance. This was one of the few LCD TV's in this size that would work in the cubby hole above my refrigerator in my kitchen. Cons: Viewing angle is NOT 160 degrees. When the bottom of the TV is about the height of my forehead, I cannot see the picture...it washes out. Also, If I am more than 30 degrees off center axis of the screen, the picture starts fading quickly and at 45 degrees, it is gone. With a 160 degree viewing angle, I should have 80 degrees of viewing angle in either direction of the center axis. THIS DOES NOT EXIST. Other Thoughts: My wife is very unhappy because she can't see the TV when she's sitting at the counter or when she is at the sink doing dishes. The only way to see the picture is to stand back from the refrigerator about 5 feet and look directly at the screen. This was a TERRIBLE choice for my application. I suppose if you bought this TV to put on your desk and you plan to have it a couple of feet from your face...looking straight at it...you'll be fine. Otherwise, the poor viewing angle and the tinny, nasty-sounding sound makes this TV a poor choice. I have a Sharp LCD 15" panel in my bathroom and that TV has great sound and great viewing angle. I bought 2 to place above my plasma in my home sportsbar. They are mounted on a soffit with peerless angle bracket. Price: Getting 2 of these for under $350 with the rebate is a deal. Even without the Rebate NewEggs price is better than everywhere I looked by about 15% Look: These tv's are sleek (all black) and not with the bulky side-speakers of other models in this class Picture: Overall quality is good Inputs: everything you will need Shipping: Free shipping is not the norm nowadyas and NewEgg's 3-Day shipping is outstanding. I ordered after 3:00PM on Tuesday and the TV were delivered Friday afternoon. Cons:** I agree with some of the other posts. The sound is tinny but since I do not use the sound at all this was not a factor for me. The picture close up at the angle I have does get distorted. But again this is not a big deal for me. Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase. I would love to give this a 5 out of 5 because the value here, but I can't get there. I bought this for my office which does triple duty as a second computer monitor, DV review monitor and TV. This monitor has a nice array of inputs which suits my needs. Set up was easy with an impressive set of controls. Switching between TV and PC inputs is easy. Cons: Adjusting the color and picture quality is not as easy as I would like, but probably not any worse than any other TV. Other Thoughts: The 16" is the perfect size for my desk. Tilts backward for viewing by taller person near tv. Speakers work fine for small office. Cons: Doesn't tilt forward/downward which would be nice if small kiddo was seated in front of it but it was a little below level of tv. Image is Terrible nearly unviewable from any view except straight on. Lighter black on the bottom 3rd of screen. When watching something in wide screen or with black bottom it seems as if a light is on below the monitor lighting up the bottom part of the screen. I'm not sure what this guy was talking about who also reviewed it, I think he just had a bad day and felt like complaining, because everything he said I find false. Decent picture when looking straight on. Cons: Terrible sound quality - sounds very tinny, like an old drive in movie speaker. Tried all of the different sound adjustments but none made the sound any better. Cannot connect to external speakers either. No tilt adjustments (although the pictures on the Newegg site show the screen tilted). Don't see how you could use this on a PC (especially considering the lack of position adjustments). Other Thoughts: The specs show 160 degree viewing angle - but that is not the case. Picture only looks good when looking straight at the screen at the same height. With no tilt adjustments it means you may need to mount it using an adjustable wall mount.
