Panasonic black level PROBLEMS!
Pros: Fantastic picture and all that.
Cons: PANASONICS HAVE BLACK LEVEL PROBLEMS!
Google "panasonic black levels" and you'll find some information related to Panasonic plasma black levels rising DRAMATICALLY after a preset amount of hours. Panasonic has flip-flopped on the issue, initially stating it was due to an overly aggressive voltage regulation problem. They recanted and now state it's "normal".
Your blacks will go from dark, dark black to a greyish color. Be warned before purchasing plasmas from them!

Connectivity thoughts
Pros: Picture quality, blacks, clarity, ability to connect with computer for home theater. PC hdmi to panel hdmi at 1920x1080. Tuner for external antenna of exceptional quality with signal strength meter. I've had this panel for about 7 months now and did buy from newegg, their delivery arrangement was on time and with careful handling of the panel. Would highly recomend this panel and the purchase from newegg.
Cons: none worth mentioning
Other Thoughts: I've connected a computer dedicated to home theater to this panel. Via HDMI. Using a high end video card this panel gives an amazing picture at full 1080p from the computer, this arrangement also gives me the availability to enjoy video streaming from the web from places like netfxxx. I did purchase a good dvd/blue-ray player software for this, they usually are under $100. The other reason was to share my experience with a newly installed external antenna and this panel. It provided me with a signal strength meter that was very helpful in pointing the antenna. The quality of picture using the external antenna is exceptional.

Great TV, When It Works!!!
Pros: I have the TH-42PZ700U which is similar to this model. I've owned mine for 3 years and 2 months now and love this TV. The 42" screen size @ 1080p is unreal and clearly has the best picture of anything out there on the market that I've seen to date!
Cons: Price is to high for a TV that will only last 2 -3 years max. Now, call me old fashion, but all my previous CRT TVs lasted 10 years+ without any problems and didn't cost half as much.
I paid $1500 and just barely got 3 years out of it before breaking due to cheap Chinese electronic components used in it. It also cost almost the same price as a new TV to have it fixed! This problem isn't isolated to Panasonic either, I have a dead Samsung & Sony too and they also use third rate capacitors, transistors, diodes, etc. I doesn't matter whether there LCD or Plasma they are all Chinese junk!
I think Pioneer uses USA made electronic components but the price also reflects it in a major way. Who can afford a Pioneer just so you can get a TV that doesn't fail in a couple of years .... definitely not me!
Other Thoughts: My advice is this....
Buy the cheapest off-brand LCD or plasma you can find because all of them are a ticking time bomb waiting to fail! This way, when it quits working, you won't be out that much in the way of cash!
If you don't believe me .... why do you think all these TV manufacturers only offer a 1 or 2 year warranty? If they were a quality product as they claim, wouldn't they tend to stand behind their work for more than 1-2 years?

Lovin it.
Pros: Motion looks great on this TV. Great Picture. Easily updated firmware. Stock sound was nice (while i used it). The Price (I bought it on sale too) When set correctly, Great picture quality.
Cons: I found it difficult to tweak the picture settings to really get the best out of it. The presets were ALL too dark, and Vivid was a little too vivid. Would be nice if the Vieralink was wireless, but they'll get there. Kinda silly the PC connection is on the side... for those of us who want it always hooked up, having it in the back would have been a little more convenient. The picture quality tuning is not all you might desire, most TV's i've used, even 5-8 years old have more customizable features than this.
Other Thoughts: I shopped long and hard for a Tv to mount in my room and finally settled on this one. After i ordered it i got disturbed by how many people were saying the color qualities were really lacking, but i disagree, if tuned correctly it looks great. The THX mode seems pretty useless to most, it's suppose to replicate exactly how the THX tuners meant it to be when they made movies... everything ends up looking like it went through a dark green filter though. The firmware update does modify it a bit, Panasonic claims they tweaked it, but I'm not sure helped much. Anyway, I bought it at 839$. For that price anyway, this TV is an absolute steal.

Awesome score
Pros: Fantastic picture, black blacks. THX mode brings out the best in my media pc and ps3! Vieracast is a neat item but not necessary. Great color right off the bat, little calibration necessary!
Cons: Waited until 2010 to buy one!

Great TV
Pros: Great picture and plenty of hook ups. Easy to use remote and menu system. Quick setup and great picture out of the box. Good sound. Nice looking. Reflections not realy a problem. Internet conection is cool.
Cons: Some reflections in high light levels.
Other Thoughts: I researched TV's a lot before deciding on this one. The picture just looked better then most and the features couldn't be matched. With that said I wasn't disapointed this TV is awsome. Movies, tv programs, and games look great. The blacks are superb as our the colors. Like I stated I haven't realy noticed to many reflectoins execpt for if watching a very dark movie at night and having a very bright light on. Blue Rays work great and the vieracast is usefull. I have watched a few HD movies from AmazononDemand and am very impressed. Hopefully they will make netflix compatiable with it this year. I found information online that stated if you own a plasma not to run any of the settings above 50% for the first 100-200hrs of use. It's suppose to reduce the risk of burn in. Would deffinetly buy another one.

Wow
Pros: This plasma provides such a beautiful picture. Some reviews complained that it didn't produce a a bright enough picture, but it looks absolutely stunning to me. It does take a little tuning, and whether THX mode being on creates a better picture is really going to be a personal preference. I'm completely satisfied with this TV and would definitely buy a Panasonic again in the future if it looks this good. Vieracast has some really neat features too.
Cons: The stand doesn't swivel... Seriously. That's all I can think of.
Other Thoughts: I looked at the lower end model Panasonic 42" plasma at Best Buy. It was noticeably darker than the surrounding LCDs, but the quality of the picture was so much better that I started researching the Panasonic line more. The G10 has a few more features but both TVs provide a great value.

Awesome Picture
Pros: All I can say is WOW!! Great picture. This replaced a 2 year old 32" Sammy LCD. I just bought a Blue Ray player a month ago and was very well pleased with the HD picture on the Sammy. This plasma just blows it away.
Cons: Can't think of any other than I wish they were cheaper, but Newegg had the best deal.
Other Thoughts: Took a little longer to get delivered than I had hoped for. In the carrier's defense, the weather in the midwest has been lousy for truckers as of late. Overall a very pleasant experience which is the norm for anything I buy from Newegg.

Fantastic Plasma
Pros: Amazing picture. Youtube features work pretty well, if you can handle the phone-style keyboard. The SD slot on the side of this was actually a much better feature than I initially thought it would be. Looking at pictures on a big screen with a group of people is a unique experience, and the large, vibrant display puts you right back into the moment the picture was taken.
Cons: Price, I guess. It's not the cheapest TV out there. Also, regarding the firmware, I'm hoping at some point they'll add functionality. Getting instant weather information is fantastic, and YouTube is well, YouTube, but I'd love to see perhaps a facebook module that lets you browse picture galleries.
Other Thoughts: I spent a lot of time researching televisions before deciding on this one. As I said, this isn't the cheapest TV out there, but it certainly outclasses the other TVs I looked at in this price range. I've had no buyers remorse, and to be quite honest, I kind of want to hug my TV whenever I get home. It's that nice.

Great TV
Pros: Picture is great and very easy to set-up. The delivery took three days. How can you beat that. For all the features and quality of this set just go ahead and order before this set is gone. First time using newegg it is great. Do not even waste your time at B & M stores.
Cons: The price. Are you kidding

Love My new plasma
Pros: Overall i loved the TV it arrived sooner then expected. I love newegg for that!
Cons: One thing i did notice was that when my xbox360 is connected with the HDMI cable, once is on and some how u accidentely change the channel. The xbox will turn off some some reason. That sucks a lot, lets say you were in a middle of a halo match and your little bro. changed the channel without u knowing BANG!! you lost the match. lol well thats the only thing i found that really bother me.

One of the best TVs ever
Pros: I don’t think I have researched a product as much I did this one. I went through 2 LCD TVs and just couldn’t get the picture I desired. So after much research I saw that Plasma may be best for me, and I was right. I can not believe the picture quality on this set. I can’t stop watching movies on this thing. Blu ray looks unbelievable. I don’t think I will ever go back to LCD TVs after getting this. No lag whatsoever, which is one thing I couldn’t stand with LCD. This is an amazing buy that you will not regret. Go Plasma
Cons: Nothing with the TV but it would have been nice if the remote buttons would light up.
Other Thoughts: Newegg once again proved itself as my favorite site to shop with. Lightning fast processing and I got the TV in 4 days from the day I placed the order.

Love this TV
Pros: I was going to buy an LCD till I found out about the G10 and was sold on it almost immediately and Newegg has the best price by far. The picture is clear and crisp, and much more realistic than any LCD I've seen so far. The Viera Cast feature is a cool toy (wish Netflix and Flickr were available though). The SD card reader works perfectly with my card (a 3-year old SanDisk 2GB UltraII). I upgraded from a 13 year old Panasonic CRT which I loved and hope to get the same life out of this. The screen is much less reflective than the old CRT. I've got a lot of windows, lamps, and Christmas lights in my living room and glare/reflection isn't a problem. I ordered on 12/15 and received it on 12/23, very reasonable considering it's the busiest week of the year for delivery services.
Cons: Would love Netflix and YouTube available in Viera Cast. Would love a home network browse feature too, for the music and home videos on my PC.
Other Thoughts: This is a fantastic TV with a lifelike image at an unbeatable Newegg price. The TV was delivered to my living room 8 days after ordering, which during the last week of Christmas mayhem is pretty good. Pilot Delivery Service could improve on its online tracking and internal communication but I have no complaints. Now I need a new TiVo!

Great TV, Excellent Service
Pros: Beautiful color, easy setup, light, but sturdy feeling
Cons: None thus far.
Other Thoughts: I'm not a videophile per se, but my wife and I have an extensive DVD collection, and probably watch at least two movies per week. This TV is an upgrade from a 19" CRT. Wow! We're just amazed at the increase in quality and the additional detail the increase in size provides. At least in the case of televisions, size does matter... The TV, paired with a Pioneer VSX-1019 receiver and an OPPO BDP-83 Blu-Ray player, has given us a truly excellent little basic home theater.
The other comment that must be made is regarding the really great Newegg service. I ordered this TV on 12/17, and was informed that I would receive it on 12/24. It actually arrived on my doorstep at 11 AM on 12/21. Again, wow! This service, though, typifies my experience with Newegg, so no surprise! When ordering, be aware that the carrier will contact you with a two hour window for delivery. Also, delivery is to the front door only (including apartment buildings) unless the "white glove" option is ordered.

Merry Christmas
Pros: Appears to be everything that was advertised.
Cons: Waited too long. Could have been watching this last year!
Other Thoughts: This was my first purchase through Newegg, and I am very pleased. Delivery was early and in excellent condition. I will recommend this to friends.

Love this TV!!
Pros: First off AIT Worldwide shipping was excellent. They got the TV here 4 days early and at 12:15pm of the 12-5pm window they gave me. The TV out of the box is awesome. HD sources are amazing. The set has good color and a really great picture out of the box. It just needs a little tweak here or there and the picture will be perfect. I have it hooked to an HTPC and Blu-ray movies are fantastic. Over HDMI with a PC you can get the full 1920x1080. My PC screen fits perfectly with no overscan.
Cons: Viera Cast is a bit slow and pretty useless. I like the weather on it but even that is just ok. I like what I see from other TV's Yahoo widgets. The PC (VGA) input is limited to a lower resolution 1280X768, why I don't know but for me it wasn't an issue since I am using HDMI.
Other Thoughts: Overall I love this TV. I bought it for the picture quality and it is excellent. I'm glad I went plasma instead of LCD. Highly recommended.

fantastic
Pros: Fantastic TV. Excellent picture and sound. It helps immensely if you know someone who's knowledgeable about settings to make this unit really shine. Sound is great especially for down firing speakers. There's no tin box sound like you hear with other TVs. Viera cast can be used to control a slim PS3 which is a wonderful plus.
Cons: Only 3 HDMI ports.
Other Thoughts: It's foolish not to consider this TV if you're in the market. Panasonic is the best choice for plasma. A friend of mine bought a plasma TV from a prominent Korean manufacturer and the quality was terrible.

I love this TV
Pros: Great picture right out of the box. Easy to set up, had it running in about 15min. Viera cast is limited but cool to play with, I plan to get a wireless bridge for it soon.
Cons: Wish it was wireless, another HDMI port would be nice. Why don't they use DVI for the computer connection. Oh and get Netflix for the Viera cast
Other Thoughts: Really I could not be more happy with the set, well if it had Netflix I would be.....

A little too dim in bright rooms
Pros: Delivery was quick and I had absolutely no problems with the delivery service. Set up is a breeze and The picture looks extreme sharp ! Sports and Blu Rays look incredible and I'm happy with the cosmetics of this TV.
Cons: The biggest disappointment, for me, is that this set is very dim when viewed during the day. This is in our bedroom and even with the shades closed and no direct light hitting the TV it's just too dim. I'm also disappointed with the THX mode as it has a yellowish - antique look to it and it's extremely dim so its pretty much useless unless you view it in complete darkness. I've been reading that Panasonic is working on a firmware upgrade to correct the "antique/yellowish" tint that dominates the THX picture mode. As far as I know the firmware upgrade is still not available. The stand is fixed, for some reason I thought it swiveled, but this isn't that big a deal, I just thought I'd mention it.
Other Thoughts: If you plan on putting this TV in a brightly lit room then consider that this TV won't do well unless you set it on the "Vivid" picture setting which then over saturates the colors. I'm considering having the TV professionally calibrated but I need to break it in for at least 100 hours, or so that's what I was told.

Great TV
Pros: This TV is fantastic! The Panny is replacing a two year old LG LCD, and there is no comparison. The blacks are black, and the colors are true to life. The picture quality is excellent from all inputs. Blu-Rays are perfect, upconverted DVDs looks great, also avi and mkv HD looks wonderful streaming through the WD Live. I think this TV is a great value for anyone looking to buy.
Cons: No swivel stand
Other Thoughts: I seen some reviewer had a bad experience with shipping. Well mine wasn't any better, but the company was ATI Worldwide. They never called me, so I called them on the day it was supposed to be delivered. I was transferred twice, then given another phone number to call, then transferred twice again. Then come to find out it had been sitting in their warehouse one day shy of a week waiting on someone to call me. Eleven day after I ordered it, it arrived in prefect condition and at noon like they said.

Great TV, Terrible Shipping
Pros: The TV is great. It's my first HDTV and I couldn't be happier with the features and customization options. My 360 looks great, my Wii looks great, my movies look great, it really is fantastic.
Cons: The shipping service Newegg used (Pilot Freight Services) is atrocious. When I would order products from Newegg in the past, they would always arrive only 2-3 business days after my order. With Pilot, it took 2-3 days for them to call me to schedule a delivery the following week.
And if waiting longer wasn't bad enough, they didn't even bother to show up in the 3 hour window that they said they would. It was almost 3 hours later when the TV finally arrived. During that time, I tried calling them and was transferred several times to people who didn't seem to know what to do. I would give them the tracking number, they would put me on hold, and then a few minutes later somebody else would pick up.
Other Thoughts: I love Newegg, but will never purchase another product from them if it uses this shipping company.

Great Shipping, Great TV
Pros: - the picture is outstanding - set up is very easy - Pilot freight did a great job delivering TV safe & sound
Cons: -none so far
Other Thoughts: It’s regrettable the other person had a bad experience with Pilot. For us it was just the opposite – the driver arrived within the delivery window promised, the TV was properly packed in the truck (upright, not flat) and the driver was VERY professional. The box was in perfect condition, giving me the assurance it hadn’t been dropped on it’s head somewhere along the line. I was concerned about getting a large item shipped this time of year because of the large volume of items moving after Black Friday. This couldn’t have gone any better. The TV itself is as great as everyone says. When we were doing our research, we went to a “big box store” to compare LCD and plasma side by side. Even to the untrained eye like mine, you could see considerably more depth and contrast in the blacks and grays. To test this TV’s black and white performance, first thing we watched was “Sink the Bismarck”, the classic 1950’s black and white which we’d just picked up on DVD. All I can say is WOW!!!

Beautiful, but not faultless
Pros: LCD-like seamless bright picture, deep black levels with great detail, deinterlaces standard-def content VERY well. quite possibly the best product in its class.
Cons: Really only gives a decent picture through HDMI. The VGA input is extremely picky about what it will accept, and component input quality is quite terrible. For last-gen systems and Wii, 480p quality is nearly as bad as 480i - inexplicably soured analog NTSC color range, complete with color bleeding, which is worsened by interpolation. Setting the color gamut to 'HD' only made things worse. You'll want to have a receiver for upscaling anything from component cables. I've never had a display this bad at handling 480p before.
Other Thoughts: Out of the box, phosphor trails were extraordinarily bad, but after three days of use, they became almost unnoticeable. Not only have the phosphor trails all but disappeared, but the picture fidelity seems to get better each time I come back to it. Just wish it would improve the 480p quality. Oh well, I can deal with it until I get a decent receiver.

Horrible Delivery Service - get somewhere else
Pros: Great TV
Cons: Not worth dealing with PILOT delivery service, usually the next day I order even though I pay ground.
Other Thoughts: I get packages all the time from Newegg - always on time. This is the first item they've sent by PILOT. They called to schedule 3 days after I placed the order. They offered to deliver it 5 days later as the soonest. I waited around between the designated hours and blew off work - never arrived. I called halfway between the designated hours to verify delivery (I wanted to at least do some grocery shopping if they were going to be late). They assured me they would be there on time. NOPE - not on time. WHen I called back 30 minutes after the hours they offered to deliver they said they couldn't contact the office or the drivers and they "didn't know what to tell me".
I'll never ever order a large item from newegg again. If they had used a real delivery service I would probably buy big ticket items from them again

Fantastic TV blows away plasma myths
Pros: Like everyone says, this TV has fantastic picture quality. I've had a 32" Sony 4:3 CRT HDTV for many years, I held back from buying a flatscreen for a long time because the LCD's had too many compromises for me to accept (motion blur, limited viewing angle, color shift) - I didn't want my new TV to look worse than my old one! With this Panny though, things are looking VERY good. Highly recommended!
Cons: It's got an Ethernet port, but doesn't have a wireless adapter. I got the D-Link DAP1522 which bridges to my existing 802.11n/WPA2 network and provides 4 Ethernet ports to hook up the TV and three other boxen. (This also gives my TiVo HD much better streaming performance than the TiVo 802.11g USB wifi adapter.)
Other Thoughts: There are two things I kept seeing about plasmas when researching flat panel HDTV's. Turns out neither of them hold water, at least not with this TV.
1: Plasmas use way more power than LCD tv's.
I kept hearing this, but I couldn't find any quantitative info on just how MUCH more. Then finally I found that [censored competitor] tests TV's including their power consumption - and model to model variations matter much more than Plasma vs. LCD. This particular plasma uses about the same as most other 42" LCD's - and there are some 42" LCD's that use much MORE! (We're talking numbers like 150-160 vs 250.)
Myth #1: busted.
2: Plasmas are no good for watching in a bright room.
Now, it's winter in Seattle so it's not exactly Death Valley levels of burning sun - but even when the sun is shining brightly through the 3 large windows in my living room, it's no harder to watch this set than my old CRT - in other words, no problem.
Myth #2: busted.
Great shipping & delivery s

Great TV
Pros: Great picture, easy to set up. The TV uses discrete inputs (works great with my Harmony remote) and has audio source switching (great for my ancient receiver). The SD card reader works well, response is snappy (overall menu response is snappy, as well). IP configuration was plug and play (via DHCP).
Cons: VieraCast is of limited usefulness IMHO. Picasa support is fine, although I'm not a big user. Youtube support is fine, the feature itself is more of a "meh".
Other Thoughts: Netflix support would be freakin' sweet, media server (Playon/TVersity) support would be even better. I don't expect to see it on this model, but Mr. Panasonic, if you're reading this, there's an crisp new $10 bill in it for you if it makes future models.

Transfusion
Pros: Panasonic makes superb plasma TV's that can stand up with the best in the market for a reasonable price, and they consistently have lowest rate of repair of any TV. The blacks are dead on, there never is any blurring, and the colors are bery true. If you want a TV that will look great day in and day out, you can't go wrong with this one. As real as it gets.
Cons: Not really a con, but though some may like the presets, I much prefer to set up the adjustments manually to fine tune it. This doesn't require any technical expertise and is mostly trial and error until you find the combination that you prefer. After that, I don't go in and readjust it because I may now be watching a ball game, once set up, everything looks good, stays good.
In the store the LCD's always look better, they're set up to be brighter, and the Plasma display models usually aren't set up at all. Don't let the brightness of the LCD fool you into thinking it is better. This is one of those things where the Plasma, once set up in your home will look better than the LCD, but that is hard to believe if you haven't seen one out of the showroom and set up correctly. Don't shy away from this set because you need to do a little set up when you get it. It is nothing more than going into the menus and changing the settings to what you find looks best, nothing close to rocket science
Other Thoughts: Among the HDTV's, Plasma's have been around the longest and that maturity shows up in the bottom line when it is sitting in your living room. Plasma's will be phasing out in the future, not because of any defects or shortcomings, but mostly because LCD & LED TV prices are getting more competitive, they use less power, and are lighter. Regardless, I will always prefer the natural lifelike look of the images on my Plasma over my LCD. The LCD is good, but the image has a certain "cartoon-like" animated look. The Plasma just looks like you were there in person. CA has passed a stringent law that severely limits the power consumption of TV's being sold in that state and that alone will kill Plasma sales in the state. Plasma vs. LCD reminds me of the Beta vs. VHS where VHS won the battle, but Beta was better.

Top flight HDTV
Pros: This set's color reproduction is beyond compare. Excellect black levels and very good scene reproduction with no softness or artifacts. Many have complained about the lack of tuning options, but this is not at all a problem with this set, it just works perfectly. Usage with my HDMI enabled game console is a sight to behold.
Many have complained in these reviews about the speakers not being good; can't say I agree with this at all, in my bedroom the set produces very good, unmuddled bass with clear mid-range. Perhaps in a living room there's an issue, but this isn't a problem in my implementation.
Cons: THX mode is poorly done, as it leads to a very yellow image that can't be fixed with Tint manipulations. The use of a non-backlit remote control is a poor choice.
Other Thoughts: This TV is EXCELLENT. Don't hesitate on this purchase.

wow!
Pros: Superb picture, THX certified, I thought I got a great deal on a Phillips LCD 120hz until I started researching this tv. I sold the Phillips and switched to the Panasonic. Best decision I have ever made! This tv's picture is flawless especially with the proper calibration. PS3 playing bluray's is the best picture I have ever seen on a home television. BUY THIS TV!
Cons: PC input does not display full 1080p but if you use dvi to hdmi cable you will be able to.
Other Thoughts: Check out avforums for some of the users calibration settings and play around with it. You will definitely notice a difference in a properly calibrated screen.

Best hdtv i have ever had!!!
Pros: First off i want to start by saying that the customer service and shipping by newegg were both excellent. Not only did newegg issue me a partial refund for the t.v. after a price drop a few days after i ordered mine, but they also shipped the t.v. extremely quick!! Now as for the t.v. itself, It has amazing picture for both blu ray movies and video games on my ps3. Set up was a breeze, and i was very satisfied with the picture presets on this t.v. unlike with many other hdtvs i have purchased. Unlike some reviewers I found the speakers on this tv pretty good! If you expect better sound than this out of a tv then you seriously need to invest in surround sound speakers. Overall i definitely recommend this tv to anybody looking for an amazing picture. The only tv that has a equal or better picture than this tv is the Samsung UNB8500 series hdtv. But with no 42" option available, and almost a $4,000 price tag, getting this tv over that one is a no brainer!!!!
Cons: The only con I have noticed about this tv is the fact that you do have to be careful and make sure that you do not leave steady images on it due to image burn ins on plasma tv's. Although from what I have heard this is not so much of an issue in the newer plasmas like this one, it is still something to be careful about, especially within the first 100 hours of use.

OUTSTANDING !!!!!!!!
Pros: Sharpness, color levels and overall picture quality is incredible. I also have another 42" Pana plasma that I bought about 1 1/2 yrs ago that was considered at the top of their line at the time and this one blows it away.
Cons: Sound is a bit tinny but overall not too bad. Really the only complaint is, and please I hope Newegg reads these every now and then, the shipper brought the unit to me LYING FLAT IN THE TRUCK BED!!! Even though the box explicitly says to ship upright. I almost had a heart attack when I saw this. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be any problems.

amazing tv!
Pros: this tv is beautiful, deep blacks, amazing color accuracy, can be bright when needed, all the pros of plasma with none of the cons of lcd. no input lag, no blurring. if youre looking for a tv in the 1000$ price range, this is it.
the 2 downsides commonly associated with plasmas are image retention/burn-in and phosphor trails. in the case of the former, panasonic plasmas are very good about image retention and burn-in. just avoid black bars for hours on end during the first 100 hours (and even then not that big of a deal, i'd watch entire movies with the letterbox black bars and never had any image retention) and don't abuse it by leaving it on for hours with one still image. and even if you did, most image retention will wash away with use.
as for phosphor trails you MAY have sensetive enough eyes to notice it during gaming, but even then give it time. once your several hundred ours into the age of the plasma, and the phosphors have really had a chance to age, it'll be less notic
Cons: a common con mentioned about this tv is the THX mode being too dim. This is true if youre watching something in the middle of the day with alot of ambient lighting, but i still wouldn't really call it a bad thing. This mode is meant for the true movie watching experience- in a pitch black room. At that point it'll be plenty bright, not to mention that the THX mode has the best one touch color accuracy you can get without professional callibration. if youre watching during the day and it's too dim, look up some custom settings online.
another thing mentioned sometimes is the 48hz flicker. This i do agree with as a con, mostly for the fact that they chose 48hz and not 72, or even 96 like the V10 and european G10 have. Most people's eyes are sensetive enough to detect the screen refreshing at 48hz. not so much at 72, and deffinetley not at 96. call it a marketing ploy i suppose.
Other Thoughts: something to consider is how sensetive your eyes are to 24p judder at 60hz when purchasing this set. 24p judder occurs because films are shot at 24 frames per second while the screen refreshes 60 times a second. these numbers don't match up obviously. tv sets will use a 3:2 pulldown to convert 24fps to 60fps, but this will cause judder. this isn't something to be alarmed about, if youve been watching films on tv all your life then youve been watching judder all your life, so it's not a new problem with this tv.
99% of people don't even notice the judder, and have no problems. BUT those 1% that do see the judder (including myself) will be bothered. this bassically leaves 3 options. try out the 48hz mode for yourself (the flicker is noticible at first, but i personally find that after a couple minutes of watching your eyes adjust and it's not a problem), get used to the judder, or buy the V10 instead which has the 96hz mode and like 48, will display 24p smoothly, but without the flick

great tv
Pros: Cheap, bang for the bucks compare to new LED/LCD THX certified HD display 1920x1080 Handsome looking television Great black & color Great game mode & THX mode Plenty of connections. 3 HDMI ports, PC-ports, SD card-port, standard ports, etc...
Cons: NO netflix streaming NO HDMI cable. NO wifi, need ethernet cable to connect to web Remote not too responsive & the lid options is rubbish OK sound/speakers VieraCast
Other Thoughts: I purchased this with a new SLIM PS3 120gb. Wow, what a great investment. i can game and watch bluray for a great great price. It's amazing how this TV and the PS3 didn't some with an HDMI cable. You will need this cable to take advantage of 1080p. I recommend the NIKO PS3 HDMI cable. This TV can be considered a gaming TV, great refresh rate. I was playing GTA iv and NO ghosting like my Dell 30inch when i game with my PC. Overall, great tv with very very good color & black that you will need to pay 2-3x as much spending on a LED television. Grab one, you'll love it. Newegg free shipping is awesome. I got it in 2 days from Connecticut. Great job Panasonic.

I love my TV I love my TV I love my TV
Pros: I've been very impressed with this TV. The hardest part of setting up this TV was getting it up the stairs at my apartment. The picture is excellent with the air/cable and my PC. No screen door effects and text is nice and clear. Football, WoW, Crysis, heck even Oprah looks good on this thing! Its not just the best bang for the buck its arguably the best bang period. Haven't tried it with bluray yet. THis should be a TV to brag about for another couple of years.
Cons: On a lark we put it in the computer room and used it as a monitor. Now i need another one of these for the living room...
Other Thoughts: THX mode does in fact "inhale profusely" for watching movies but for the computer hookups it works perfectly (format/color/brightness). So I'm guessing that was what it was intended for.

Excellent T.V.
Pros: Picture is clear, crisp and true to life. Blu-ray movies look freaking amazing and video games once adjusted look so darn nice.
Cons: The black levels can be a little over powering but only with video games and if you can adjust the brightness in your game then you will be fine. I use a 360 and PC and after a little brightness increase the picture is good to go and looking sharp and nicer than my PC moniter.
Other Thoughts: The speakers are weak but sound fine when your just watching t.v. and at night when you dont want to have the volume too loud.

Amazing
Pros: Amazing clarity in HD and very good looking SD. Colors are vivid and sound is very good. Not running optical audio to surround yet, but I expect that will sound good. With HDMI running from cable box to set and also from Panasonic DVD-R to set, the picture quality is outstanding. I like the choice of modes. THX is a bit dark but I have the custom settings where I like them. VieraLink works flawlessly with Panasonic DVD-R. Have not watched blu-ray yet but I'm sure it will be amazing. Vieracast works great. I've already logged into my youtube and Picassa accounts. Picassa slideshows look fantastic. Looking forward to them adding more content providers hopefully soon. I have not purchased any programming through Amazonvideo yet but have watched several HD trailers and they look outstanding with no lag or hiccups over my TW internet connection. Would definitely recommend this set to anyone looking for full featured plasma for under $1,000.
Cons: Remote should light up and should be universal. That is inexcusable today. CC and SAP buttons do not work when going through cable box. Have to use cable remote to activate those options. Viera cast takes a few seconds to find a connection when the TV is first turned on. More functionality in VieraCast weather would be nice.
Other Thoughts: Amazing picture and beautiful set. Got this last week. Took me several hours to get the heavy-duty articulating mount I purchased very cheap from Mon-oprice.com mounted correctly into my bookshelf area, but now the TV compacts nicely into the recessed area when not in use. I ordered from Buy-dig.com for $899 with no shipping or tax. Price dropped another $50 the next day and they credited my account upon request. Amazing deal for only $849 and included a free HD kit with cleaning cloth, 2 x HDMI, Component and Optical Audio cables. I have not even opened that yet as I don't need it. Def best deal for this set I've seen, and I tracked prices for months before purchasing. No one can touch it. I love NewEgg though. Would def have purchased from them if they could match the price.

Excellent
Pros: This is an excellent television. Great image, lots of settings and no major flaws. I needed a TV that I could watch from the floor, or sitting in a chair, etc. LCDs have such a problem with low viewing angles. This is one of a few 42" plasma tvs (Most are larger.)
THX mode although it seems dim, is great for watching movies at night. It really does provide a movie watching experience. I switch it back to standard during the day for regular tv. VieraCast is a neat feature, but I have a HTPC so it really isn't necessary. I do like being able to view trailers from the Video On Demand service. You tube is kind of a novelty item, but my wife likes it.
I find the TV bright enough and the color is wonderful. I also needed a TV with analog audio out (For wireless headphones.) So that ruled out the cheaper Panasonic model for me. I am impressed with the "Fit and Finish" of this product. Solidly built and backed up with Panasonic's "Concierge" service.
Cons: Although this writes like an "Ad" for Panasonic, there is room for improvement on this TV.
More controls that can be used by a professional calibrator. Some people complained about problems with phosphor trails and some image problems, but my specific TV has none of those problems.
More HDMI inputs. Three is really the minimum that should be on a TV.
Since I plugged an ethernet cable into it, I would like more online services available - like TV guide or perhaps Netflix streaming.
The remote design is simply stupid. There is a "Light" button (Which is hard to find in the dark.) Then when you press it, - it only lights up the two biggest (Easiest to find) buttons. Also the position of the Viera feature buttons is bad. They get hit accidentally all the time.
Other Thoughts: Just a great TV. I am really sold on Plasma technology.

Pros: Great Tv.. Easy to install. Great Picture. Colors are excellent .. for the price of 1000 dollars you cant beat this tv.. was shipped extremely fast and ontime.. you cant beat new eggs shipping..
Cons: The tv comes with a HDMI cable .. i wish i knew because i bought a cable .... but it was a monster cable...which the cable that comes with the tv is a no-name.. so , you dont need a cable if you buy this tv.. unless you want one...

I Love Great Deals
Pros: Easy setup out of the box. The THX setting is actually very pleasing to me. Some people complain about it being too dark, but I fail to see it that way. It has great black levels (very inky). All of the aspect ratios work really well. I haven't run across a signal that it won't tweak to the screen in order to make it look it's best, and not it's largest. The viera link is very cool, and has some nice internet features. The best part is that the firmware is upgradable. So, if panasonic breaks more deals with more internet content companies, then your TV will add them automatically! Anti-glare is great as well. I have it sitting next to a window, and haven't noticed a reflection at all. The best part: GREAT PICTURE! Smooth motion, dark blacks, and accurate colors. Also, it has great image retention technology, so don't be worried about burn-in because it's a plasma.
Cons: I haven't really found many CONS yet. I do wish the remote was a universal, it's pretty dated. There's not a automatic detection for the best aspect ratio, so sometimes I end up flipping through till I find the best one. The "neat" Viera LINK feature is for PANASONIC products which I don't have, so it's like a teasing feature that I don't get to use. I also wish it had a swivel stand.
Other Thoughts: Ok, so I am a quite enthusiastic tech junkie without the income to support it. Naturally, I search for the best bang for my buck. I researched til my head spun, found this TV, waited for the best deal, and bought it from Newegg. However, the first TV they shipped had a GIANT crack along the diagonal length of the TV (bummer). These things can happen, and Newegg has been fantastic so far in the return process. They are very helpful, and they stay in constant communication to make sure you are in the loop. Don't hesitate. If you have the money, buy it now!

Excellent set for the price
Pros: My girlfriend thought it was too big and wanted to return it. I was even a little dizzy at first, but it didn't take long to get used to it. Very good black levels and overall picture quality for HD content. No issues with the shipping.
Cons: I don't think it scales non-HD content very well, and the picture quality isn't great even on 4:3 aspect ratio.

Excellent TV Overall
Pros: Deep blacks - The black levels on this set are excellent. Not the best ever but close.
Mostly accurate colors
Lots of connections
Separate picture settings for each input
Excellent motion resolution
VieraCast - Gives you weather, YouTube, movies on demand (Am@zon), and firmware updates with an ethernet connection.
AVCHD playback through SD card
Cons: Greenish/Yellowish tint in THX mode - This TV is touted for its THX mode, which is supposed to deliver the best movie viewing experience. THX mode looks great, but it is intended for very dark rooms and has a slight greenish tint. The green tint is most noticeable on flesh tones and got quite annoying. With a lack of adequate color controls (except in the service menu), I found the best picture setting to be Custom (lacking green tint) rather than THX. With either setting, the picture looks great with HD content.
Flicker in 48hz mode - Don't bother with the 48hz setting for 24fps content. The induced flicker makes it worthless.
Lack of extensive picture control options
VGA connection (no DVI)
Good (not great) handling of SD content
Other Thoughts: This is my first HDTV/Plasma and I'm very happy with my purchase. I made the decision to buy this television based on the price and the good review on CNET.
This TV is excellent for the price. It seems like every consumer review of an HDTV I read is exaggeratingly positive, and this is awful for making a decision on what to buy. This TV, however, is actually an excellent set. To get a marginally better picture you would have to pay much more.
BUY IT

Finally can enjoy watching movies
Pros: Colors, clarity, NO pixelation, Great picture, lots of ports. SD satellite looks amazingly good, everything looks better than my old sxxx crt.
Cons: Runs hotter than LCD, heavy
Other Thoughts: Kept waiting to replace my crt (sxxx) thinking that my old dvd's and camcorder movies would look terrible on a 1080p screen. Was I wrong, Not only do they look ok, everything looks better. Would recomend this plasma. Can not get the pc interface to work, but believe its the computer not the plasma. Using hdmi from pc works at 1920 x 1080 and looks great.

Pros: Pros- Great Image Quality No Motion Blur Menu is easy to navigate Custom name creation for ports (You can change the name of HDMI port 1,2,3 etc to 'Xbox360') Which is a great feature when your flipping back and forth between devices hooked up to your beautiful Full HD Panasonic TV. Has a lot of options as far as connecting devices.
It has a lot of bells and whistles (that I myself have not had any use for yet) like image viewer, it can connect directly to the internet via an Ethernet cable.
If you have a Panasonic surround sound, or Blu-ray player you can control them all through the TV.
Cons: My only real grip with this TV is that it has a vga input for pc, when I wish it had a DVI connection instead. I had to buy an adapter so I could hook my PC up to the TV aka my new monitor.
Other Thoughts: I really wish new egg would check out its shippers somehow some way before it ships packages off. Maybe have a rating customers could give the shippers?
ON THE BOX OF THE TV IT PLAINLY SAYS SHIP UPRIGHT! DO NOT LAY OVER FLAT..
So guess which position the shipper has it in when they bring it to my house, LAYING OVER FLAT. ( I live in the bluegrass state)
But I decided to take a chance and not refuse shipping just because of that. Brought it in the house, it works great!
But seriously, that one bit really irked me. Every thing else went flawless. Newegg as usual rocks on the shipping speed and quality.
Whats up with that silver lining at the bottom of the TV? It really does seem out of place...

Great TV All Around
Pros: Image is excellent. I haven't experienced any phosphor lag. I haven't began my break in process, but even with that I've had no noticeable image retention--I found it when looking for it, but I put it through conditions to make it evident and it was still hard to notice if I didn't keep track of where the retention should be. I expect it to be even better after break in.
Colors were good. I'm not the best judge of color, but with THX mode I noticed significant improvement, overall I think you can get the colors as accurate as possible but I have only played with them minimally but there are plenty of options.
The 1080p motion resolution is something I can't gauge with tools, but I notice better definition during motion than on some other screens I own-- trying my best to find details that show it. I'd say it makes a difference, but one you may find hard to notice.
Speakers have more than adequate quality for my purposes, but they could be better.
Cons: Speakers could be slightly better, but in general this TV is still better than a lot of other flat panels with sound. Remote light only lights up the volume and channel buttons. Image retention is an issue, though you'd be hard pressed to see it in reasonable viewing conditions, and that's before break in.
Other Thoughts: Newegg has excellent customer service. I had an issue with my order and Newegg has taken care of my problems above what I expected.

Stop looking and just buy it already.
Pros: This is a nice TV. I'm glad I went with a Plasma. Plasmas and ghosting seems to be a thing of the past or an old wives tale. No issue with that. Great picture. Even standard channels look good. Never thought I'd get into high def as much as I did. Even got the HD package from my local provider so I'll have 37 HD channels within the week. Got about 6 right now. Remote works well and even has a light button on it although I never use this feature. Might have fans, but I didn't notice them until I read the previous review. Not an issue for me at least. Doesn't seem to weigh a huge amount. 60 lbs or so? I actually hooked up the Vierra cast and enjoy it. Endless weather and youtube vids at your fingertips. The @mazon HD video on demand works well if a little over priced at $5 for a new release. You will want to immediately update the firmware for the Vierra cast once you get it hooked up. I think once it was hooked up to the internet it pretty much prompts you to update actually...
Cons: If anything, it's the speakers, but I don't think I've ever heard steller speakers on a flat panel TV. Good enough for a bedroom, but you'll probably want some additional speakers/amp for a small home theater setup. Price dropped a little after I got it, but so does everything techie I suppose. Thinking about the 54" version for my living room now so my bank account is gonna be taking a bit of a hit from TV purchases this summer.
Other Thoughts: About shipping: Delivery guy was cool. They called me a couple days ahead of time to schedule a delivery with a 2 hour window. Said they'd be there between 12 and 2. Showed up at 11:59, so no waiting. Nice. Delivery guy showed me how to open the box and gave me a few minutes to look the TV over. I recommend having a flashlight handy if the room you're checking it out in is dark. Basically, don't worry about the shipping. I figure you're just as likely to have a problem from a B&M store. TV is still on a truck for a while no matter where you buy it from.

TC-P42G10
Pros: I've never seen a better picture on any TV. I'm very happy with this purchase . . . hoping that it doesn't blow up any time soon!
Cons: I wasn't prepared to hear a FAN running when this thing is on! The onboard speakers are HORIBLE!
Other Thoughts: This plasma set replaces a 4 1/2 yr old 32" LCD ( our first HiDef set ) Panasonic which had considerable dramatic impact on our TV viewing experience when new. The wife thinks the TC-P42G10 isn't quite bright enough, but I have found a custom setting of brightness and contrast which I find VERY pleasing. Of the five different factory presets, " standard " and " THX " were unwatchable ( what was Panasonic thinking with this " THX " picture setting ??!! ), and " vivid " is obviously the max showroom STUN setting, almost cartoonish . . . This higher picture quality and larger screen readily reveal flaws in program sources!

Great Plasma
Pros: the colors are amazing. haven't watched any hd material, but gamed on it with 360 and it looks fantastic. no ghosting or motion blur at all. it doubles as my gaming pc monitor, and it works great for that as well. one odd thing that i really like is the power button is on the front. my previous lcd had it on the side, and the from is a bit more convenient. the remote isn't that bad either, sensor works well even when not pointed right at tv. viera cast is pretty neat, easy to get updates and check the weather and stuff. i like the design as well. clean, glossy, simple, but not over the top. and another thing that set the panasonics apart was the sound. which is quite good for built in speakers. i only use them for sd material, but they perform beyond expectations. and sd material actually looks very nice as well(for sd material).
Cons: specifically to me, the inputs are all on the left side. my setup needs it on the right, though it still works. i prefer to have more side inputs verse having them on the back. it really needs 4 hdmi inputs, this is really inexcusable. not sure what panasonic was thinking here. viera cast navigation is very slow with considerable delay.
Other Thoughts: all in all i'm extremely satisfied with the purchase of a plasma, and the purchase of the panasonic g10 series. everything i've read seems accurate and this tv is quite fantastic. this is my first plasma, and i'm quite impressed. i researched lcd's for a while, but kept reading about the same shortcomings. none of which afflicted plasmas. so i researched plasmas. and outside of the kuros, which are discontinued, rare to find, and very expensive, this was overwhelmingly considered the next best. a few nit picks, but the only thing that was critical for me when deciding was picture quality and motion performance, which this thing excels at. the price is awesome and an amazing deal. ait shipping was actually great too. ordered friday, arrived monday. you won't regret this one.

Viera
Pros: Excellent Picture and bang for the Buck. C-Net gave this Plasma a four star ratings.
Cons: Cables will hang out in an unsightly manner if you use side connections. Channels displays on antenna connection are minimal. No USB port. Remote control is poorly set up. Only displays 1900x1080 with a PC via HDMI.
Other Thoughts: It could use another HDMI port. Sill a great buy

Amazing Plasma!!!
Pros: Great Plasma, THX setting really makes movies look amazing. With a Blue Ray player a must. Looks great with Xbox 360 video too.
Cons: Make sure you have a dark room becasue it still reflects lots of light. It is still better than many Plasmas when it come to high light conditions.
Other Thoughts: I would recommend buying a Panasonic components becasue then you can control everything using Vera link.

Fantastic Picture
Pros: Colors are extremely vibrant and true. Black is black. The picture is amazingly better than any TV I have ever watched. No pixelation/blur during fast action. Small footprint. Sits solidly on stand, doesn't wobble at all if touched. SD card slot is nice to have and the inputs are easy to reach. Recognized my Home Theater box instantly with the "Easy Sync" so I can use the TV remote for my surround sound and DVD player. Shipped fast, the courier even called me when it came into town and asked me when I would like it delivered...."Huh??" Never had that happen before.
Cons: Only 3 HDMI ports. THX mode is not the best setting to watch a movie, even in the dark it is still too dark. No big deal though, you can adjust it to whatever suits you.
Other Thoughts: I thought my 37" Viewsonic was a great LCD for the price, but this is a entirely better television. From what I've read, this is the best $1000 TV on the market. I now see why people say there is a 3D-ish effect with a good plasma and the right source. I was torn between a 120Hz LCD and this set, but I'm positive I made the right decision now. Just finished watching the Stanley Cup Finals on it and I never saw the TV flinch with all that motion. Even the white of the ice had the gradations of colors I had never seen before in HD sets, only live. There is also no greenish tint to skin tones like I have read about in certain reviews. Don't know where that came from unless they put it on some strange settings. Honestly, it is such a good TV that I want to convince my wife that we put it in the bedroom so I can buy the 54" version and put that on the living room wall. I would love to see what this great a picture looks like on that size screen.

WOW
Pros: Incredible picture with very little adjustment necessary to make colors even more brilliant than the default. BUY THIS, don't wait get it now it i worth every penny.
Cons: My greatest con is the delivery service. When I ordered it stated that my estimated delivery was 7 days from my order date, I received my shipment only 3 days. This caused me to have to take extra time off work to receive and start enjoying this new addition to the family viewing.
Other Thoughts: I attached a samsung blu-ray player (BD-P3600) and have not been able to get any sleep, between netflix, cable and all the DVD's I own.

Great Value
Pros: This television is the best Plasma in the $1000 range, and competitive for the best overall 42inch television on the market. I compared several televisions in the same price range and nothing came close to the sleek look and great performance of this Panasonic.
Cons: As with any plasma television, burn-in is a danger. Do not leave static images on your television, ever! Especially for the first 100 or so hours. This means be careful of game HUDs and tv station logos as well.
Other Thoughts: Vieracast is pretty cool, but you will need a cat-5 cable to attach to the back of the television, no wireless unfortunately.

Best Bang for the Buck
Pros: This TV is by far the best bang for the buck. Compared to LCD's, the picture is just as good if not better than models costing upwards of $1,000 more.
If you've done the research, you probably already know that this TV has great features. Once broke in and the TV settings are tweaked, nothing comes close to looking as LIFE LIKE as this set; Sure, other TV's may display objects in a brighter fashion, but this TV makes them look like they do in real life. Power consumption is down on this year's model, and so is the weight.
But, if you don't want to go off one simple review, do the research - this TV gives the higher $$ pioneer's a run for their money.
Cons: 1) Remote can only be used with the TV.....it can't be programmed to run other devices like previous generation Panasonic remotes.
2) Silver accent stripe along the bottom of the set doesn't look as good as solid black would IMO
Other Thoughts: Again, this TV rocks.....if you're spending 1,000 on a TV you should be researching the product anyhow....do some and I guarantee you'll find this is the best set for your $.
Also, anyone worried about shipping shouldn't; the freight carriers newegg uses are nothing but the best.

Great TV
Pros: This is an awesome TV. Has everything you want, except that you need to buy an HDMI cable. This is the "G" series and is the top-of-the-line. (except for Pioneer. But Pioneer is quitting the plasma tv market, leaving this as best in class).
Cons: You cannot watch TV in 1080p! It's impossible, 'cuz there ain't nobody broadcasting in 1080p! The best you can do is 1080i (or 720p). But DVD and blu-ray should be in 1080p. But 1080i still looks friggin' sweet.
Other Thoughts: This is the best plasma TV on the market (except for Pioneer, which cost 3-4 times as much). You will be very happy with this TV. Listen up there Pokey, DO NOT cheap out and get the "S" or "X" series: Spend the extra buck and a half and treat yourself to somethin' good for once in your penny pinching life.

My first plasma
Pros: Astounding color quality with DVD's and HD over QAM/ATSC. Cinema mode looked EXACTLY like the color quality I remember when seeing movies the first time in theaters. Makes for awesome gaming with my 360. No input lag (perceived and measured with Guitar Hero test). Plasmas do not suffer from viewing angle limitations, which really bothered me even with good LCD's (comparing Panasonic's own 37" LCD w/ an A-IPS panel and Samsungs).
Cons: Sometimes too dark by default for certain games, easily tweaked though - very good dark levels can mean too many shadows. Color accuracy is supposedly not perfect according to AV forum enthusiasts, but out of the box it looked great to me.
Other Thoughts: Purchased from local b&m store with an overpriced warranty. Should have waited 2 days and bought it from the Egg instead!
