Pros: very responsive temperature control
good for those needing a cooktop and have no kitchen (i.e. during a remodel)
fast cool down time

Cons: Requires magnetic cookware - enameled steel, cast iron, or other induction friendly cookware - test the bottom with a magnet

Other Thoughts: I bought this unit based on information from a kitchen remodeling forum. Since I will be without a kitchen for several months, I wanted to buy a temporary cooktop that I would enjoy using and would be (hopefully) as useful as my gas cooktop. I cringed a little at the cost especially in comparison with typical hotplates, but at this point, I think I'm very happy with the performance so far. I was impressed with my practice/test run. My water in a 2 quart enamel steel pot boiled in about 4 minutes and the temperature control was very responsive when I sauted. I also love the timer (don't have to worry about overcooking). The cooling fan is quite audible, but not excessive.

Pros: Functions very well as a portable cooktop. Should be 10-25% more efficient than electric coil. Nice controls.

Cons: It's not really white. It's more of a biscuit, or beige color. Has a fairly loud internal fan

Other Thoughts: Nice option for households with small children. You can place the unit far back from the countertop edge, and the surface barely gets hot-the pan, of course, gets hot.
