Cons: (1) Very heavy; (2) Window attachment a little flimpsy; (3) Only remote control adjustments;
Other Thoughts: (1) Used to cool small bedroom; (2) Unable to install window unit due to homeowner deed restriction; (3) So far bought 2 units, will buy again due to quality built;

Great for small room
Pros: Quite, not a window unit. Ideal for small room. Have wheels to move around.
Cons: Can't cool a large room. (10 ft ceiling, 10x15) Takes up space in the room
Other Thoughts: I had this unit set up in a small bed room, and it worked great, quite, nice and cool. I decided to replace my window unit in the big bedroom with the sharp. It was a mistake. The window unit is rated for 8000 BTU, and it generates cooler air than the sharp. I even drain all the water in the unit to make sure it is not causing the cooling problem. I just think that the unit maxed out. I will have put the window unit back in the big room.

Great AC
Pros: Very Quite. Unlike the old window ac, when it goes on, you know it. It's like a jet engine in the room. This one, I can't tell when it goes on/off while sleeping.
It pretty easy to install. The accessories that comes with it do a decent job.
Cons: Remote... There is not way to control the unit without the remote.
Drain - Haven't had to drain the unit yet, but I don't think it will be difficult since I can wheel this thing to position it for drainage.
It is a bit heavy, about 80-90 lbs.
Other Thoughts: If you want peace and quiet, this is the brand to get. We have an old Panasonic that does a decent job too.

Amazingly quiet
Pros: I first purchased a $350 portable air conditioner at a local store. It was extremely loud; I could not even talk on the phone with it in the room. I returned it. This unit is very quiet and was easy to set up. I am using it as a supplement to central air in a 12' x 15' room that contains a lot of electronic equipment. Nice remote with 3 fan speeds. It does a great job. I am really pleased.
Cons: It is heavy. You don't want to take it up and down stairs very often.
Other Thoughts: You do get what you pay for. This model is more expensive but much better built than cheaper models. It has a screen over the exhaust hose to keep out birds and bugs while some other models do not. Newegg's price was the best by far that I could fine.

A Lot of Nothing...
Pros: Quiet and decent remote control. Installation was easy!
Cons: We have an old house and only a whole house AC unit, it does not do well cooling the 2nd floor so I bought this to cool the master bedroom. First off when I went to take this to upstairs to my bedroom, it was HEAVY. I figured AC units usually are, so continued lugging it up. I figured the rest of the house stayed pretty cool on its own, so I could save some money and just use this in the bedroom. WRONG... it could not cool off the room that was about 15'x15' with the door shut to make sure the air stayed in. I would run it 2 - 3 hours before I would go to bed and it would still be stifling hot in the top part of the room and slightly tepid around floor level. I had to have this thing blowing directly on the bed to cool us off. I reread the instruction 3 times to make sure I didn't miss anything or the drainage wasn't working, etc.
Other Thoughts: I don't know if we got a bad one or not (it seems this is normal after reading through the reviews). I took the thing back since it was useless. I ended up putting a fan in front of the AC register and just have it suck it up from down stairs now. For the price, ($300 more than a 10k BTU window model) it is not anywhere near worth it.

Very Good portable AC
Pros: Portable, quiet and good look
Cons: Heavy
Other Thoughts: If you can't have a window AC, then this would be a very good alternative. The air coming out of the AC is as cold as a window unit, but some of the heat coming out the back of the unit is still in the same room. That makes it not able to cool the room as efficiently as a window unit. Other than that, the Sharp CV-P10MX I have for a year has been working as advertise, cooling down a 9x15 area pretty well in 90 degree weather.

Pros: I bought a different model Sharp portable AC then this from a home depot that was 10,000BTU about a year ago to cool a large attic bedroom. Without any AC, The temperature of the room would rise to about 120-130 degrees on a hot summer day. With the AC on full blast, it can bring the temp down to about 75- 80*f. Very happy with it.
Cons: Draining can be an issue.
Other Thoughts: I personally think it's pretty quiet, Even on full blast.

Not so good
Pros: A year ago purchased it from big local retailer with idea to cool small 140sq.ft office previously cooled by window-mounted 5500BTU Goldstar.So... yes, this air conditioner looks nice and does not require alot of work to install it, it does come with remote control. Alot heat is coming from exausting pipe.
Cons: Not as quiet as you can think. It is quiet only on low fan speed but it does not cool as good as any other air conditioner I use to install in past 5 years, even these with 6000-7000BTU. Was not sure so I went to another store and got slightly different model Sharp which performed exactly the same as first one. Finally ended up returning both Sharps and got Friedrich, but not these new cheap models - I got XQ08L10A and could not be happier - it is strong, produce no more noise than Sharp on low speed and definitely cools better.
Other Thoughts: It is good solution if you need to cool temporary one room without any air conditioneer.

Works for me!
Pros: This is unit is quiet, I live in central florida and have used this used in our guest bedroom. I even had guests from Colorado who insisted at keeping the room at 69 degrees (outside temp - 95 degrees and humid). Unit accomplished that. I have not had to empty the water tank - it does a good job of venting the excess water with the exhaust. I have had this unit since May of 2007 and am pleased with it.
Cons: It is bulky and expect your bill to rise about 30 to 35 dollars a month with continuous use (set at 78 degrees with outside temp at 90 to 99.
Other Thoughts: I have not had the problems that the other consumers had.

Dissapointment
Pros: Very Quiet, nice design.
Cons: Has trouble cooling a 200 sq ft room when the outside temp is 90 degrees. I had an 8000 BTU Fedders before that did a better job of cooling but was very noisy.
Other Thoughts: I thought upgrading to a 9500 BTU unit would work out better but I was wrong. This AC is average at best, (I'm being kind).

Poor cooling but quiet
Pros: Quiet operation, not bad looking
Cons: I have the air conditioner in a small room and have found its cooling capability to be unsatisfactory. I replaced an 8,000 BTU window air conditioner with this one and found the 8,000 BTU air conditioner to offer much better cooling capacity. I would continue shopping. The item is nonrefundable when purchased so beware.

quiet but bulky AC
Pros: Quiet. Its compressor does not wake you up if you falling into sleep on the chair. Compared with other Japaneses portable AC, this is the best in the noise level.
Cons: Bulky. It requires to install a drain pipe for continue operation. There is no easy way to empty internal water tank, if you don't install the water drain. There are two pipe connectors on the back. You will need to install a pipe on the top one to pump water out, if you did not install on on the lower.
Other Thoughts: We have another portable air that simply stops, when water tank is full. You could easily take out the water tank, empty it and put back. To install tubing for water drain maybe good for running it for long time. But a lot more work.
