They won't take it back!
Pros: Cools down the room very quickly Great fan speed. Thermostat is efficient. Sleek looking. Very good quality remote.(nicely proportioned rubber buttons)
Cons: It has LG labeled on the compressor!
After 2 months and 2 days it stops cooling frigidly. It doesn't maintain the temperature in the room the same. It's not getting as cold, so the unit stays on all the time now instead of reaching it's temperature, then cycling down, then off for awhile.
Other Thoughts: I didn't know the policy about keeping the original packaging. I contacted them and they told me if I sent them the unit back in original packaging, they would honor the warranty. Who has room for a box the size necessary to ship this unit in? I don't. So, I'm supposed to leave a big box in the middle of my room (too big for any closet, no garage) because one day I'll have to ship this product back. That's ridiculous. They pushed me off to the mfg. I should have known better than to buy an item like this over the internet. These companies are really good at finding ways to relieve them of warranty responsibilities.

Pros: There are no pros.
Cons: Brand new unit does not work. Does not cool at all. Oil all over the unit and smokes when turned on. I wouldn't even give this thing a rating of one. It would be minus 10.
Other Thoughts: Too bad I was not at home when the unit was delivered as the box was oily and I would have refused the shipment.

Quite Satisfied !!
Pros: Very competititve price and high performance (10.8 EER)
Cons: None of significance but supposedly (based on Consumer Report tests) performs poorly in brownout testing, in which a combination of high heat loads and unusually low voltage stress the unit. My climate here is mild and unlikely to encounter this issue, but your mileage may vary....
Other Thoughts: The latest Consumer Reports confirms my belief that the noise level from this unit is not especially high compared to all the other brands tested. It cools well, has a nice user interface and remote control, and was pretty easy to install. It replaces a very old and very reliable Sharp unit of the same size which I installed in 1990's.
The noise issue is really not worth fretting about. Since this unit has an "Energy Saver" mode, it cycles completely on and off, only drawing power and making normal level sounds when it is on, and totally silent when it is off. At high fan speed and compressor load, it still is not any louder than my prior unit.
I was not especially thrilled with the adjustable frame for mounting however. It is flimsier than my prior Sharp, makes the installation tougher since it no longer uses a separate chassis and frame, and has accordian-style panels which really don't seal well for moisture, bugs, and winter heat loss. It needed a lot of caulk and insulation.

Does the job
Pros: Cools our large bonus room well, powerful blower.
Cons: Loud?
Other Thoughts: I live in Seattle, where hot weather is so uncommon that few houses have air conditioning, but in a typical summer we might have a several days of heat wave where temperatures peak around 90, and with computers always running, our bonus room gets uncomfortable, so installed one of these. It does a good job of cooling a 400sq ft room and I needed a powerful blower to blow the cold air up and over to the other side of the room. I wanted to respond to the previous reviewer who complained about the noise level. I note that the loud noise is the blower noise. You can turn down the blower speed and have less noise, but I suppose that noise is the inevitable trade off for moving a lot of air at high velocity. Since this is the first air conditioner I've owned, I don't know how it compares with others.

Don't buy it
Pros: None
Cons: LOUD, very Loud. I have researched this bigger Sharp a/c and all have complaints like mine. The place I live has one of these and it is loud. I thought it was broken. It still cools the room. BUT I cannot sleep with this on.
