Pros: Price for the capacity. I had a GE model that seemed to run constantly and run up my power bill.
Cons: None so far, owned for a few months now. unless it spontaneously breaks on me, I'd say no cons for this dehumidifer.
Other Thoughts: Gotta love Newegg

So Far so Good
Pros: Well built! I used this in my living room for 15 minutes, and it started getting warmer already! Put it in the garage to dry up the remains of a broken pipe, not filling up the bucket as quickly as I expected, but getting moisture out so still great!
Cons: UPS had left a few bumps in the package, and I was a bit worried about the condition as the "bulk policy" is "as is" if accepted, but I needed this for my garage as it was an emergency, and everything's working! Due to my clumsiness, I scratched the gorgeous finish on the dehumidifier :(
Other Thoughts: Newegg is the best, even during the holiday season you get through to me, with free shipping too!

goodgrief
Pros: This unit (as FDL70S1) is the best dehumidifier that I have yet to find. Read on about the three eggs...
Cons: I purchased a similar unit, FDL70S1 at Lowe's on 12/15/09, and was impressed with the way it sucked the humidity from my basement. (It does suck up electricity in use) I discovered a week past the one year general warranty that the 'sealed unit' was apparently defective because water into the tank had ceased for the most part. Called Frigidaire as there was a 5 year warranty on the 'sealed unit', and found that the units 'sealed unit' is considered as non-repairable... but, with returning all proper labels and documentation, Frigidaire/Electrolux will issue a 70% REBATE that can be redeemed AFTER a repalcement is purchased. How considerate. I consider this a misrepresentation of a warranty.
Other Thoughts: Even with all the nonsense involved, I do have to have a dehumidifier so I will probably just replace it with one of these from Newegg. At the price it is selling at with free shipping it is hardly worth jumping through all of the stupid hoops. As said initially,(while working) it was the best dehumidifier I have had yet. Hopefully, it was just a lemon. I'll just forget about Frigidaire misrepresenting their warranty and write them off in the future as a S.N.A.F.U.!

Work great - for a while
Pros: Really did a great job of pulling out the moisture. Was emptying twice a day during summer. Good air movement, I like the dual fan speed. I give a 5 rating while it worked and will probably buy another one. Loved the Newegg price.
Cons: Sensor failed after 5 months. I knew Newegg's policy for no returns so I had researched where to get repairs made before I purchased. Through Frigidaire I found the local repair center. What they don't tell you even in the owners manual is the fact they won't repair this - only replace it. The local authorized warranty repair center won't be of help except to give you an 800 number that will help. I don't know why the 800 number in the manual only directs you to the local repair place when Frigidaire won't let them fix it. If you buy online they will buy it back for what you paid - minus shipping and taxes. That's OK too but is just a long process. I am waiting for the check now.

Welcome to the Gobi Desert
Pros: Able to remove lots of water/day. Noise level is acceptable. Power usage is also not too bad. Design is simple and elegant.
Cons: We have two of these and the hygrometer on each often reads rather different numbers. I would calibrate the values on the display with a better hygrometer to be sure that you are keeping your room at the humidity level that you want.
Other Thoughts: The people that complain about power usage need to realize that all dehumidifiers use a lot of power. That is because they operate just like an air conditioner. This is a 700watt device, so the person that reported the kWhr usage should do the math. They would realize that 700W*47hrs=32.9kWh, so their reported value of 29kWh suggests that their unit is not running at the full 700Watts constantly. This is a good thing. :-)

Energy Monster
Pros: This does a great job of bringing the humidity down. The controls are simple. The unit is solid. The hose drain makes it easy to hook up to a condensate pump.
Cons: I ran a Kill-A-Watt on this with the dehumidifier running on constant for 2 days to dry out my basement. It got the humidity down to a nice 40% from around 55%. But in 47 hours of run time it used 29 kWh. That cost me around $2.50 per day to run. Or $73/month, or $887/year if you ran it continuously. Most people will probably just set this to a specific desired humidity level and let it go. Just be aware this thing uses more a lot of electricity.
Other Thoughts: If it wasn't for the power draw I'd give this a 5 rating. But it is an energy monster.

no complaints
Pros: Continuous operation drain works great and is designed to take a standard garden hose. Comes back on after power failure/cycle allowing you to control it with other timers. Built in digital humidity meter is highly accurate. Excellent overall design, generally quiet operation. Been running almost continuously for months with no problems.
Cons: Heats up the room, but this is standard & expected.
Other Thoughts: Living in an area of San Francisco with constant fog I have two of these running with continuous draining. They work great with no monitoring.
The water produced by this unit has nearly 0 PPM dissolved solids and is perfectly PH balanced. It tastes great if you are that brave. :)

Great Product
Pros: Easy to setup and definitely does everything as advertised. Removed all of the humidity out of my basement in a couple of days!
Cons: Before I had the hose hooked up for continuous drainage the bucket would will up and would be difficult to remove from the unit on the right side. Other than that it has been great!

Frigidaire Dehumifier
Pros: Great unit. Pulls water out of the air like magic. My house suffers from a very high level of humidity and the wood floor buckles. I have been using this unit for about 1 week and the floor buckling has subsided substantially. I am very pleased with the unit
Cons: The bucket is a little tricky to handle, but you get used to it.

Love This Dehumidifier
Pros: Operates In Low Temperatures Attractive Design, Solid Feel Exhausts Dehumidified Air to the Right, Sucks from Front Very, Very Quiet Compressor (although significant air rushing sound from volume of air being moved) Drain Hose Attachment Doesn't Cause Drips Into Bucket Drain Hose Attachment Allows You To Drain To Sump Smartly Packaged for shipping -- when you cut the straps off the box, the entire box lifts off the base, so you take the box off the dehumidifier rather than trying to drag the dehumidifier up and out of the box. Smart!! Energy Star -- so I get a small rebate from my electric co. 5-yr warranty on the sealed system, 1 yr on the rest
Cons: NewEgg is out of stock and has been for a while, so I had to buy it from someone else for a little more.
Other Thoughts: Unlike some others, this works down to the mid-40s F (whereas some major others only work to mid-60s), so you can leave it, as we do, in an unfinished basement/furnace room. As to noise, you have to think about what bothers you noisewise. This thing produces virtually no humming from the compressor or whining from the fan -- amazing! But it does move lots of air so you do definitely hear an air rushing sound on "high". I don't find that bothersome at all, whereas I don't like a compressor rattling away. I ran it for two days and was amazed at how much water it sucked out and how quickly it filled the bucket. When I attached a hose to my sump drain, I carefully monitored it because I had read that others will fill the bucket nonetheless. Not even a drop from mine -- it all goes down the hose. This seems like a solid item, well-designed at a good price with a good warranty.

So Far So Good
Pros: It works great and fast, sucked all the water out of the air. The water container was not that hard to remove as others have stated. I used an LG model, and the air the LG blew out was hotter than this model, so that's a plus during the summer and I don't need my place hotter, but maybe a negative as I would probably want the extra heat in the winter. Fan is also stronger than the LG model which I used, which is good to circulate air.
Cons: Kind of noisy, but doesn't really bother me as I use it mostly for the bedroom/closet and not the living room. And is shut off at night.
Other Thoughts: The Manufacturers Warranty: 1 yr Full /5 yr sealed system warranty is better than the Soleus models which only have one year warranty.

Good Dehumidifier
Pros: Works really well at pulling water out of the air. In my basement, it fills the bucket to capacity every day during the summer. Looks good. Nice user interface.
Cons: Pretty noisy, although this seems to be fairly standard for dehumidifiers of this capacity. If it is set for a given humidity, it will sometimes turn on and off frequently enough that it is annoying. I usually turn it off if I am watching a movie or television.
Other Thoughts: I recommend hooking it up directly to a drain if that is an option in your location. I have to empty the bucket every day in my finished basement. Overall, I am satisfied. This is a much nicer unit than the other dehumidifiers that I have used in the past.

Frigidaire FDF70s1
Pros: Very good at drying out basement, very pleased!!!
Cons: Water bucket more difficult to remove than previous dehumidifiers, but I am getting the hang of it. I will probably bypass bucket with hose dirrectly to drain.

Not So Great!
Pros: From a marketing perspective, 70 pints is great for a big basement. Digital read out, nice look/finish to the unit, handle on top of the unit makes it very easy move.
Cons: Unfortunately, stopped working in 3 days. The power light came on, nothing displayed in the LED window and no other buttons invoked any function or action. Prior to the unit just flat-out dying, the overfull bucket mechanism did not work and water started pouring out of the bucket into the room. NOT GOOD and NOT HAPPY!
Other Thoughts: Not sure what to think, obviously there are bad eggs in every production model... Did not buy from NewEgg, now that they are selling for dirt cheap, may return @ Lowe's and pick one up for another try.
Too bad and PITA, the unit looked like and is setup to do a good job. Oh well, we'll see.
Thanks Newegg for having such a good price, definately pick it up from you guys this time.

Frigidaire FDF70S1 Dehumidifier
Pros: Very easy setup and easy to use! Unit was operating within minutes of taking out of the box. Removed 70 pts. in one day. Highly recommended. No more musky smell in the basement.
Cons: Doesn't come with the hose for continuous drainage but you can just go buy a cheap garden hose and attach it to the unit. Not a big deal.

Pros: Best dehumidifier on the market, cheap from newegg Fan is very powerful, but noisy. We have it in the basement so we don't mind Displays current humidity in the room
Cons: Noisy
Other Thoughts: Similar model retails for $240 at lowes, sears has it for a little bit cheap but they only stock it online. All the reviews I have read for every single non Frigidaire dehumidifier says they break, they hardly work, ect. They don't make one that puts out more than 70pints per day so this is by far one of the biggest and best ones to buy and cheap from newegg.

Works Great!
Pros: Excellent design
Drainage hose screws on, not pushed on
Digital LED display
Quieter than the Whirpool 50 pint I replaced
Total control of fan speed and humidity levels
Feels solid and well built
Air is sucked in from front and released on side, allowing it to be pushed closer to a wall
Excellent price on Newegg.com
Auto mode allows unit to run only when needed.
Can run in low temperatures
Change filter indicator
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: I did my homework on this one, and I'm completely satisfied with this dehumidifier's performance. It drys up my basement quickly. I have the drainage hose connected, and draining to my sump pump.

Works great
Pros: This dehumidifier emptied 70 pints of water in about 12 hours! The humidity level dropped to 42% in the basement, eliminating that musty, damp odor. We checked it with a seaprate humistat, and percentage is very accurate. Price from Newegg was best we could find, coupled with fast & free shipping, the deal was unbelievaable.
Cons: The fan is a little noisy....had to turn it off to hear a movie in the rec room, but since it's located in the basement, not much of a draw back at all.
Other Thoughts: This is our first week with the product, but so far, it works much better than the previous 2 Emerson Quiet Kools we have owned. This unit sold for $229.00 + tax locally.

Works
Pros: Works great! Simple operation, nice display of relative humidity, and easy to use controls.
Cons: You might consider it a little noisy, but it's in my basement so I don't even know when it's running - if that's even a con. It does have a fairly high current draw on startup, but it's on the same circuit as my basement lighting and hasn't tripped a breaker, so it's not too bad. With a full bucket it might splash a little bit if you yank the bucket out too hard, but if you're careful it won't spill at all.
Other Thoughts: Within a few hours of plugging it in, my basement was noticeably much more dry. We have some pretty serious humidity here (Baltimore, MD area) and it keeps up without a problem. I've got it set to keep the basement at 55% humidity, and in checking it with a humidistat, it's fairly accurate.

Great!!!
Pros: Knocks out humidity pretty fast! Has a built in humistat that turns on or off the unit as needed. Will fill the bucket in no time...About a day for me. Very easy to use and maintain. Well built and sturdy compared to some I have seen. This is a nice investment for the home.
Cons: The fan is loud as everyone has mentioned here. Be sure to place it somewhere away from where you watch television, or you will find yourself turning it off and not running it at all!
Other Thoughts: Cutting down the humidity in the home means that it will not feel so hot in the house. This way, you can run the A.C. a little less and save more money overall.
Newegg's shipping time was AWESOME!!! Just another reason why they keep me as a customer!

Pros: Dry air fast. within 24 hours the humidity down to 45% I was amazed. Two buckets of water I have to drain everyday. Now my basement is comfortable and dry. I hope I have known this prouduct early.
Cons: The fan is noisy.

Who knew there was that much water in air...
Pros: Either this this is amazing at dehumidifying, or it's amazing at making water from nothing. I don't have the hose hooked up for constant draining, but I'm emptying a bucket every 24 hours! Yeah, I have humidity issues.
The auto shutoff at high water level is a very nice touch, and the bucket has a lot of splash guards in place which is a good couter for one of it's cons.
Cons: The bucket's a little annoying. It either releases easily, or it pops out like crazy. The splash guards are nice so you don't make a mess. If you take special care to push the tabs in, it does slide out well enough, I suppose. A lock would have been nicer than tabs.
I am also afraid of the handle on the bucket. I see it breaking after a while of use, or carrying it at a bad angle.
Final complaint is it sucks a lot of juice. It's on a 15 amp circuit, and lights dim when it turns on. I wish it had a gentle start cycle.
Other Thoughts: Despite the cons, I'm glad I have it. You probably will be, too.

Nice Dehumidifier
Pros: Much stronger fan than my previous dehumidifer, a Kenmore 70-pt. It's doing a nice job of removing the humidity from my finished 600 sq ft basement. A start up in the morning, my basement is around 75% humidity. Within 2 hours, it's down to 45% with the help of a ceiling fan. Bucket needs emptying every three to four days.
Cons: Because it moves a good amount of air, it's hardly quiet. I estimate the noise level at 40 to 50 sones, or on par with a loud bathroom vent fan.
Other Thoughts: I had to take apart my Kenmore many times for various problems. While I haven't had this one apart, first impressions indicate a much better design and build quality. The "filter needs cleaning" alert will come in handy as these things really do need regular cleaning to run efficiently.

Nice design
Pros: Solidly built; smart design for hose attachment; powerful fan; looks cool.
This replaces a 6-year-old dehumidifier that always sounded like it was about to rattle itself apart. This one has a more powerful fan but is actually less noisy. Unlike some dehumidifiers, this one doesn't require that you permanently alter the bucket to attach a hose. If you want to attach a hose, just connect it up; without the hose, the water drains from the hose connector into the bucket. Smart design, and it keeps the bucket from getting gross with mold/mildew/etc. Controls are easy to figure out, and you can set the desired humidity level in 5% increments. Lots of thoughtful details -- casters, carrying handle, even a place to coil up the power cord.
Cons: None yet

Well Made Dehumidifier
Pros: Solid construction; good design; plastic materials used in it's construction is aesthetically pleasing-it does not look cheap. I have been using this dehumidifier in a 1000 square foot garage application for a little over 1 month and it is doing the job nicely. After setting the humidity level, this unit displays actual room humidity during it's operation.
I did not find the fan to be weak at all, as another reviewer had mentioned.
Compared to the competition, I highly recommend purchasing a Frigidaire dehumidifier. The units sold by Newegg are of the latest design from Frigidaire at an excellent price. Companies such as Lowes charge as much as $239.99 for this same unit and it is of an older design; at least that is what I experienced when I visited my local Lowes in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Shipping for me was very reasonable at $18.77 and I received the unit in 2 days via Fed Ex.
Cons: This unit exhausts air from it's right side. The only noise generated by this unit is the whoosh of the air exiting and it can be rather noisy. Muffling or deflecting the air upon exit can reduce this noise somewhat. Measured noise levels with an SPL meter; C weighted, slow response yielded 58-60db on a low fan speed setting and 62-63db on a high fan speed setting with the meter placed 3-4 feet away from the dehumidifier. This was an unscientific measurement taken in my garage. I have not been able to hear any noise coming from the compressor on this unit.
Other Thoughts: The bucket on this unit incorporates a splash guard that requires the removal of 3 screws in order to gain access for cleaning. By squirting some dishwashing detergent in the bucket when emptied, will aid in reducing dirt/mold growth and frequency of cleaning.
Before purchasing any dehumidifier, call the manufacturer to inquire as to where the local service center is in relation to where you live in case warranty service is ever required.
I have found over the years that when frost develops on the coils, usually caused by a leak in the system, the primary parts that need to be replaced are the evaporator and/or condenser. I usually have been only getting 2 years out of a dehumidifier before this problem occurs. If you experience this same problem, buy a new dehumidifier. The diagnostic cost is ~$50; an evaporator/ condenser is ~$100/$70, and labor is ~$150. It is not economically feasible to consider repair with a parts only warranty during years 2-5 as with this unit.

Works Well / Relief: 01
Pros: 1000 sq ft, wet, unfinished, cinder block basement. Started at 70% humidity. 18 hours after starting the Frigidaire, the humidity is down to 55%. We're aiming for 45%; will let you know.
Compared to the previous RattleBanger, this one sounds like it's running quite smoothly. There is no rattling on High speed, and it can't be heard on the first floor. Digital humidistat adjusts in 5% increments -- I set it to 45%. A few seconds after adjusting it, the readout switches from the humidistat-reading to a hygrometer-reading, which displayed within a few percentage points as a little, nearby digital thermometer/hygrometer (at both 70% and 55%).
Cons: Based on its performance, the condenser is obviously powerful, but the [internal] fan seems wimpy -- I can't feel it blowing more than a few feet away. It's apparently sufficient to do the job, so I can only complain a little.
Internal connection for attaching a utility hose for external draining to sump drain -- provides little room for fingers to make connector tight -- but you can get it tight enough to keep non-pressurized water from leaking at the connector. Sticking a wrench in there is probably not advised, as it can break plastic parts and chew up your O-ring.
Dehumidifiers seem to die if they are laid on their sides during transport. Needed to place on car's back seat with seat-belt to hold it in place. If you go mail-order, not sure if shipper would consider this concern, although the manual says not to lay the unit on its side...
Other Thoughts: Somehow, I knew the internal fan would be wimpy, and at the home-supply center, I was happy to also snatch up a [very] cheap, plastic, 16" pedestal fan on "clearance" along with the dehumidifier. Placed the pedestal fan about 15 feet away from the dehumidifier and switched it to High to help spread the dry air around. Should improve drying effectiveness. Downside is those pedestals draw about 50 watts on High -- I may get a light-timer to reduce the fan's duty cycle. First time in my life I ever used the "oscillation" function on a fan.
Strange sensation when the air downstairs was suddenly dry. But the smelly spores were still everywhere, hopefully screaming their swansong from the dryness. I hope the filter will help to remove the moldy smell that had built up over the last year. Will learn how to clean the filter next week.
Could have saved a few bucks by buying from Newegg, but I don't know how shipping charges would affect the situation.

AWESOME
Pros: Removes 70 pints per day as rated. Hose connection was a breeze. Arrived in 2 days. Not as loud as I anticipated even though I run it on high speed to better circulate the air for greater efficiency.

Excellent Dehumidifier
Pros: Much quieter than the last brand I had and no rattles when operating, dried the basement air in no time. Great hose hook up.
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: Super fast shipping from Newegg! It was at my door in two days.

Powerful but LOUD!
Pros: Pulls plenty of water out of the air.
Cons: Sounds like a DC-4 is idling in a basement rec room
Other Thoughts: Ordered two, kept one for use in the garage, returning the other which we had planned to use in the house but could not because it is so l-o-u-d!
