Pros: Inexpensive and quick assembly. Seems to do the job.

Cons: Terrible packaging. First shipment arrived with two shattered casters. Sent back to NewEgg and it took 2 weeks for me to get the replacement. 2nd shipment had one partially broken caster, so it works but often falls off. The unit comes with the casters installed with paper thin foam on that side, so it's not too surprising.

Noisy, even on low.

Hose isn't very flexible, so it can be awkward to get the unit positioned how you want. Makes it awkward to move between different places (e.g. not very "portable").

The window adapter works so-so. Two pieces overlap so it lets in hot air due to the gap between the two.

Other Thoughts: If I'd had more money to spend, I'd have just returned it after I got my first unit with the two shattered casters. Buy something else if you can.

Pros: Cools small room like it is supposed to.

Cons: Loud. Broken wheels upon delivery. Small water reservior but has auto off when reservior is full.

Other Thoughts: We are happy with the unit. Cheap and works. Called customer service, they were pleasant and they promptly sent replacement wheels. Hope it lasts.

Pros: Cools my bedroom really well (around 190 sq ft). Window adapter for vent extends plenty long enough for a pretty tall slider window. My casters were just fine, and they even seemed sturdy. Great price.

Cons: There is no thermostat for temperature control, so cooling is either on or off (that's one thing I wish I would have known). The water container is tiny; it needs to be emptied after about 4 hours with my present humidity. It's a large unit and because of the vent it needs a fairly large floor space. Somewhat noisy, but probably not more than any other unit.

Other Thoughts: This is a great option for slider windows when you can't use a normal window unit. Even though I wrote more in the Cons section, the Pros outweigh the Cons, in my opinion. Because of the small water tank, it's better to find a way to use the continuous drainage hose. I'm going to set my unit on something to lift it above the bottom of the window and cut a small hole in the window adapter to run the hose out my window.

It cools very well, and I that was my main concern. It's a great value despite the Cons.

Pros: Blows cold air. I set it up in my bedroom two hours ago. The temperature already feels like it has dropped 10 degrees. Window installation is easy. For the money, this is a good deal.

Cons: There is a water tank that you have to empty regularly. The exhaust hose is fairly rigid, and makes it impossible to place it with the back up against the wall. You probably need a foot of clearance to allow for the exhaust hose.

Ok...for the buyer beware part... I received this unit with two of the four casters destroyed. The bottom of the unit is not level, and it leans foward about 5-10% without the casters in place.

Since the casters were broken, I placed the unit on my dresser... but there are screws coming out of the bottom of the unit that will scratch anything you put the unit on. I had to place a piece of card board between the unit and my dresser to protect my dresser.

I saw other reviews that report the same problem with the casters.

Other Thoughts: I would have preferred a smaller, more flexible hose.

This is the most affordable air conditioner I could find that does not window mounted. I live in a 3rd story apartment, so a window mount was less than desirable.

With the casters broken, I placed the unit on my dresser.

You get what you pay for... and this is relatively inexpensive. In hindsight, i should have spent another $100 for a unit that has functional casters on the bottom of it.

Pros: Blows very cold air, cheap possibly the cheapest you will find, remote control.

Cons: like the person below me the wheels shattered during shipping which isnt the biggest deal in the world so I did not pull it down to one egg for this. heavy, extremely ugly. The window adapter is very flimsy and lets air, a moderate amount of tape will compensate this.

Other Thoughts: Do not expect the best product at the cheapest price on the internet.

Pros: This unit cools quite well, and the price makes it a deal.

Cons: Just like the other Soleus air conditioners sold here and at other retail places, mine came with a couple of shattered casters. If you read the reviews of other Soleus portable ACs sold here at Newegg.com, you'll see that broken caster wheels are a common thing in these units. The unit is so heavy that it would take some effort to move it across the room without casters. I wanted to send the AC back to Newegg, but the shipping cost would be over $60 as the unit weighs well over 68 lbs or so packed. Also, be advised that the window tubing allows ALOT of hot air to move into the room, pretty much defeating the purpose of the AC unit itself.

Other Thoughts: The folks at Soleus needs to go back to the drawing board and design a set of casters that can work on their portable ACs without shattering into a million pieces during shipping. Unless you know how to, and are well-prepared to replace some casters, do not buy this Soleus AC!!!!

Pros: Bought this to aid the cooling of my central air in my bedroom over the garage. Before summer nights were unbearable, now my room is cooler than the rest of the house.

Cons: Bigger than I would have liked. The included window vent lets in hot air. The vent tube is large and limits placement. A small window A/C would have done the same job, but had to please the wife.

Other Thoughts: This is the perfect unit if a window A/C just won't do. Just remember to empty the water. Or drain into a larger bucket. This unit seems to be easier than the newer Soleus models to drain.
