Best value. No problem upgrading my Dell Inspiron 5160 from the original Fujitsu 30 G HD to the Western Digital 120 G HD. This 5400 RPM / 8 MB cache drive seems to run faster than the original 4200 RPM / 2 MB cache drive as you would expect.
none so far
Dell has an adapter that converts the HD's row of pins to an edge connector. It appears to be a part of the card and is not mentioned in the Dell user manual in the HD replacement section. It has to be transferred to the new HD. This is not difficult. Just apply even pressure on both ends of the adapter when removing and reinserting. (I had no problem when exerting a little bit of side to side pressure.)
I now have a second use laptop which initially had 256M of RAM & a 30 G HD and now has 1 G of RAM and 120 G HD. The CPU is a P4. Not bad and not an expensive upgrade either!
