This review is from: OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2RPR800C44GK
Pros:
Bought 2 packages of these for a new business workstation (Dell Precision T3400) and was very grateful that they fit just fine. Ran memtest86+ on each stick separately for 5+ hours and then all 8GB together (overkill) for 12hrs -- they performed flawlessly (not to mention they stayed pretty darn cool to the touch).
Cons:
As many have already noted, these don't report the proper timings to the mobo. Not a problem for most, since you can just change them in the BIOS -- I already knew this and certainly wasn't worried about it. I didn't know however, that Dell machines don't allow you to change timings. Argh.
Overall Review:
Timing issue aside, in my view they're still better than practically any other non-ECC RAM out there. I was worried about the height added by the heatpipe but it wasn't an issue at all in my mid-sized tower, and actually preferable in my eyes to the extra width added by some heatsinks (these are thinner than most).
I'm very pleased with this slick package by OCZ. I think this makes my tenth OCZ memory purchase. Have only had one bad stick over the last five years.
