XP instead of Vista
Vista has much better tablet functions than does XP, but XP has a much lower resource footprint, translating to better performance.

I use these in remote locations as data collection terminals for employee time and attendance.
It gives me realtime collection and display by logging into our server via rdp.
Works great - zero problems.
For my usage, it doesn't matter which OS is installed, but if you want to run Vista, get the unit with the faster processor and Vista preinstalled.
I did do some testing, and using vlc to play avi's, I was able to pull streams from two different lan sources and have them play acceptably.
Web browsing is fine, and the wifi is very stable - the way I have these installed, my phone would be ringing right away if there was a connectivity problem.
Don't try to do any serious gaming - but you knew that, I hope.
The touchscreen is as good as it can be on a screen this small.
I agree that the buttons are pretty close to useless, but that's a matter of form factor.
For our managers to do any serious manual edits to our timesheets, I picked up a usb kb and mouse.
