Just don't buy it, seriously. 09/22/2008
Quiet, cool, light weight, and the screen is clear from almost any angle. Battery life is about 1-2 hours depending on how you use it (I think this is actually a con).
Very fast and reliable for general use.
You CAN downgrade to Windows XP (see the Other Thoughts).
Comes with Vista and the usual preloaded junk. about 13GB of the hard drive is holding restore data, and you don't actually get any CD's.
This system is only good enough for intense internet surfing and homework doing. If you are into multimedia stuff like Photoshop, Digital music recording, this laptop is not for you. I base that comment from experience with XP installed, I only assume this thing is slower under Vista.
The C770US Comes with Windows Vista and is difficult to downgrade to XP because you have to go scavenger hunting for them on the HP website. Also, before you can install XP, you have to go into the BIOS and disable the hard drive protection so you can format the drive.
Word of warning: All of the XP drivers work EXCEPT for the wireless ones. A wifi key is an alternative.
So this thing cost $550 and that is nearing the price you would pay for a much better laptop, so I say either go cheaper and get the same quality, or spend a little more and get something way better. I am left wondering why I got a such a mediocre system for a relatively high price.
