cheap, reliable ram.
i bought one last year when i built my very own first rig. i bought one this year to upgrade it. corsair apparently changed the circuitry on the chip, as the older one had eight transistors on both sides, and this one has only eight on one side, and they even have the same sticker. after install, windows started randomly crashing BSOD. re-installed windows to no avail. THEN i find out the new chip registers fine, but my old one somehow changed speed to 663 mhz. 663?! in either slot, but only when the new one is plugged in also? whoa. i removed the old chip, maybe it's buggy, but now that i installed windows on two different speeds of ram, windows glitches. there is no winning.
don't let my whining scare anyone away from purchasing this ram. just make sure you buy enough to satisfy yourself all at once, not a year in between like me.
