Very Nice HTPC Build 11/01/2009
This review is from: ZOTAC IONITX-A-U Atom 330 1.6GHz Dual-Core NVIDIA ION Mini ITX Motherboard / CPU Combo
Pros:
Very nice unit - well designed and built. I put together a first class Blu-ray HTPC based on this MB for under $400, including MB, case, Blu-ray drive, Hard Drive and Ram. Features on the MB include a gigabit Ethernet port, 802.11n wireless, Atom dual core Intel CPU and Nvidia Ion GPU (9400M) all included. It powers and has connections for three internal Sata 3.0 devices (internal sata BD optical drive, sata HD plus one more), and includes its own built in 90W power supply to power everything. It comes with a small optional fan for the CPU/GPU, and the miniITX form factor is very small and very quiet. It all works together well, and is easy to build.
Cons:
The user MUST download and install the latest MB Bios, the Chipset drivers and the Nvidia Ion GPU drivers for it to function as intended. It is not a major problem, just an absolutely necessary step to get it up to optimal.
Overall Review:
I have 4 Gig of DDR2 ram onboard. I use the Zotac as an interface for internet activity such as email, browsing, viewing Hulu and Netflix streaming video with great results, as well as standard DVD and Blu-ray viewing. Using the HDMI output to my audio/receiver & HD TV, I also get 5.1 surround audio in the HDMI connection - real nice. I also recommend the Logitech DiNovo-mini USB bluetooth Keyboard, as an excellent interface for this unit.
