Good MB for old processor 01/27/2010
This review is from: BIOSTAR P4M900M4 478 VIA P4M900 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
I got 2 of these the first week of Jan. 2010, and they both work. Even with old socket 478 processors, when you pair them with 2GB of DDR2 RAM they make a reasonably fast computer. Connections are adequately marked. Runs Windows XP Pro. with no problems. I ran the burn-in test with SiSoftware Sandra Lite XII.SP2c for 48 hours set to "normal" priority and had no failures or overheating.
only 2 SATA ports. the cpu fan and case fan speeds are not controlled by the motherboard so they stay at maximum all the time(loud). the temperature readings are incompatible with SpeedFan 4.37, and PC Alert 4, but, with SiSoftware Sandra Lite XII.SP2c and the included WarpSpeeder apps, the temps. match up within a degree or two.
Get a PCI-e 16x graphics card, the integrated graphics where barely enough to handle the Aero effects when I tested Windows 7 RC1 with all of the latest updates.
