great Mac Book Pro (MBP) upgrade 01/29/2010
This is a great drive upgrade, I have had no issues with battery drain/power supply, noise, heat. I had read some the previous reviews reporting issues with the drive, have nothing but a great experience, thus far. I use my Mac all of the time, it runs cool, fast, and quiet with expected battery life. Installed drive into a 13" MBP unibody, running Snow Leopard. The reinstall of OS, data, etc., was uneventful. I have never had any problems with WD hard drives, and this one appears to be the same. The OEM (non-WD) 120GB, 5400 RPM drive that it replaced is now in an external case, for additional data storage.
Uh.... it's not a bigger capacity? It's not a SSD?
Disassembly, replacement, and reassembly can be tricky with the MBP unibody. Read and follow the instructions, be sure to employ standard anti-static procedures. You will need a #00 Phillips screwdriver for the case screws, and a T-6 Torx screwdriver for the drive attachment screws.
As always, great price and impeccable service from Newegg. I have dealt with Newegg for years, during that time I have had two returns that were handled smoothly without incident. I recommend the company to potential customers all of the time.
