Lots of ports. Every thing you need.. It can take a great assortment of 775 cpus. Great Nvidia gpu. I don't need much horsepower or expect huge processing out of it... I have a E3300 in it and 2gb ram. Purpose was an HTPC to stream off a home file server. Right now it dual boots XP and Arch Linux. Both OS's load quickly and run very well. No issues on driver, except noted below
It does seem warm, but its in a small case. GPU temp appears to be steady at 56-57c during video playback or idle. Cores fluctuate in low 40s. Seems within acceptable limits for me
The only issue I have so far is being unable to get the wireless working in Arch Linux. I can't get the driver (from VIA) to compile. I haven't given up but its driving me nuts... This is more of my personal technical limitations. VIA however has limited resources for Linux with the wireless driver. Wireless works fine under XP. I plan on using a wired connection once this is in service so its not a deal breaker for me.
I bought this for an HTPC. I wanted a bit more horsepower than an atom cpu and graphics to handle full HD playback. Its sitting in an Apex MI-008 case. Using the stock cooling for the E3300. Tight fits but its all in there. Clearance between the top of the CPU fan and the bottom of the power supply is about 1/8" - if that... It works for me! I am constantly amazed that Newegg gets my order on one day and its sitting on my doorstep in two days... Other vendors are still reading emails.. The reviews for products is great! Thanks!!
