Good choice for 680i 04/04/2010
Works good on 680i EVGA mobo. Mem is EPP/SLI-ready, and is recognized by the bios!!! Runs best at 2.1 volts. Really made Win7 64-bit boot faster, compared to 2x1gb sticks.
Needed 2.1 volts to gain stability? 2.05 recommended sometimes gave BSOD in games.
BSOD problems prompted me to try lower speed/faster timings: 800mhz, 4/4/4/12/2t 1.8v = GOOD. 533mhz, 3/4/3/12/1t 1.8v GREAT! I really hate running high voltages if I can avoid it, and lower timings/lower speeds actually equal bandwidth in some tests compared to 1066/5/5/5 ratings? Lower cas or 'T' timings can really improve mem speed/bandwidth?
You old timers understand this, but for the new-b's, every clock tick is a delay? Lower cas ratings = faster. A 1T command rate is twice as fast as a 2T? The clock speed may be lower, but if the computer does the same job or more, with a lower delay, the bandwidth is higher? And it usually does it at a lower voltage, less heat? As always, you need to experiment? Your mileage may vary... This is a very OLD 'overclockers' trick? High-perf mem runs REALLY GOOD at lower clocks/aggressive timing?
