XFX HD-587A-ZNF9 Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card w/ATI Eyefinity
  • 1GB 256-Bit GDDR5
  • Core Clock 850 MHz
  • 2 x DVI 1 x HDMI 1 x DisplayPort
  • 1600 Stream Processors
  • PCI Express 2.0 x16

Pros:

A blazing fast GPU that stays relatively cool and consumes low power. Eyefinity would be a plus if I had 2 more monitors. So far I've played most modern games and this card seems to be able to handle maxed out graphics (MW2, Metro2033, Bioshok2, OFP2, Stalker COP, etc. The only game it wasn't able to max out was ARMA2-it would get choppy so I had to lower detail in that game to medium-high. In most games I was getting more than 70fps even in the action parts.

Cons:

I bought it back in Oct/Nov when they were constantly selling out but availability seems ok now (especially since fermi came out).
The first card I got was starting to have problems after about a month. I thought it might have been driver related so I waited for the update and the GSOD problem update, but those didn't solve the random game crashing (GSOD) and scintillating green pixels on the desktop and other 2D apps. So, I started a trouble ticket with XFX who promptly gave me some suggestions to trouble shoot. That didn't work so they issued an RMA. Once they got it, they tested immediately, found the problem and sent me a another one (not new but working well) all within 24hrs. I received the replacement within 48hrs. I would have preferred a new one but at least this one works well so far after 4 months. Also, this card is not overclock friendly at least not using ati tools-I haven't tried any other tools but gave up.

Overall Review:

I probably buy another one soon for xfire, esp. if I can find a good deal on on open box or something.
