Overall Review:
Bought my first WD20EARS as a backup drive on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system, which functions well as our home gaming machine, workstation, file server, media server, and seedbox. Since Windows 7 and Vista are already compatible with Western Digital's new 4k block size, I was able to just put it in the system and go with little configuration (although I did remove the software that came with it).
It worked so well, I decided to replace my 500GB WD5000AACS with it and see how it did. That went so well, I'm getting another one, and I doubt it'll be my last. By the time I stop buying these, I'll probably have a pretty meaty stand-alone file server.
Not certain how the perfect storm of size, performance and price merged on this model, but I have yet to find the flaw in this product.
