1 out of 5 eggs Probably just me but... 08/14/2010

This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-P55-USB3 LGA 1156 Intel P55 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros:

Really made me think it was going to work the second time around.

Cons:

Did a build for my friend, he was the one who ordered. First time we got all his parts, but it together, computer didn't post, forged on ahead and hooked the computer up to his monitor, didn't do anything, didn't get to BIOS, nothing. Did a few simple tests, determined the motherboard was dead. Figured alright, even great components have this happen. RMA'd it back to Newegg, they sent him a new one. Did the build a second time, same thing, went further with the tests this time, not believing we would be so unfortunate as to get two dead motherboards, swapped out his ram with mine, my video card, nothing worked, the board was dead. Sent it back to Newegg for a refund, got the refund, paid five bucks more for an EVGA motherboard, did the build a third time, worked like a charm, popped in my Windows 7 disc, and my friend is as happy as can be.

Other Thoughts:

I'm quite sure that Gigabyte doesn't make trash products, but two dead motherboards have greatly turned me off to their products. I'm not some super elite computer tech whose built a hundred computers, but I'm quite well versed in the procedure and protocol for handling computer components, and I made sure to teach my friends as well. I've only built some five computers, but this was the first to give me this much trouble, or any at all for that matter, and the first to use a Gigabyte motherboard.
