A-DATA Ckassic Series 12/10/2010
It's cheap. Transfer speeds were reasonably fast when the drive was new. HDTune read test gave 26 MB/sec avg. with rather disturbing minimum spikes down to 5 MB/sec scattered throughout the test.
After one use (filling drive almost completely with media files, playing back the files on Xbox, then deleting all files in preparation for next use) transfer speeds dropped to 1/4 of original speeds with HDTune read test showing avg 6 MB/sec. Tried formatting the drive to restore original speed resulting in HDTune read test of 10 MB/sec. then drive failed completely on next use. PC still recognizes a device has been plugged in but says there's no drive there when trying to write to it.
Based on A-DATA's response to an earlier review, I emailed their support for a copy of their low-level formatting tool and received no response. Tried formatting with HP USB Disk Formatting Tool v2.0.6 which resulted in a failed drive.
I will never buy another A-DATA product, especially a flash drive or SSD.
