Where are the good SATA/IDE->USBs? 02/01/2011
This review is from: SYBA SY-U2SAIDE USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE Adapter with Power Adapter
Worked like a charm while it lasted.
Died after about a dozen uses.
Power supply gets too hot to not worry about. Not for unattended use.
Made in China; poor solder work. Came with a brandless HS002-5-12 supply.
Where are the respected manufacturers? It seems like Newegg sells thousands of these across all the different brands, and they each have at least a few complaints of mass destruction!
I'd gladly pay 4 times the price if I could get one that didn't cause worry about the health of my drives and motherboard, and lasts at least a few years of intermittent use.
I have an excellent Thermaltake SATA dock, but we need IDE and laptop IDE too!
Disclaimer: I did not purchase this from Newegg.
